Maria was very friendly and made our stay perfect, arranging transportation and offering to help, without pressure of selling us something. The only negative is weak Internet service at our bungalow and kind of slow Internet overall.

We were trying to stayclose to the volcano and close to our excursion site the next morning at Sky River Drift. This place was perfect for that. The hotel is older, and not in particularly great shape, but we were badically just sleeping there. There were too many clouds to actually see the volcano unfortunately. Our only real complaint was that was our worst supper in Costa Rica. Food was bland and not enjoyable. Breakfast was fine though. Would stay again, but would eat dinner elsewhere.

great location, gorgeous views but mediocre accommodation. We stayed in cabin #2 which is handicap accessible. Although its location is great - right in front of the volcano, it's shape is mediocre. We had aunt and inspect infestation both night. The gap under the front door is huge and lets anything in - and possibly snakes. It is too bad because this hotel has great potential. It would not take much to take it to very good. At the same time, it won't take much to take it to bad.

Breathtaking view from your bungalow! Service was a little annoying. There is no phone in your bungalow so whenever you have any concerns, you have to walk over to the reception. Right when we got into our hotel and showered, we noticed big ants (i mean BIG) that were crawling out of the drain - at least 50. We were super paranoid of the ants crawling into our suitcases and our bed since we did see some of the attempt it. Food - to get food you had to go to the city (La Fortuna) which was a hefty cab ride. I believe ours cost about $15US which is a lot of money to go grab a meal. There are no restaurants offered at this hotel however a hotel about 300m away called Arenal Hotel (I believe), had AMAZING dinners. We absolutely loved their menu however I do no recommend you walk there at night. It is super dark - we did it and were terrified each time. Breakfast was great and not to mention free. Overall, aside from the ant problem, the bungalow is beautiful. It feels secluded from the rest of the bungalows which is great and the view is just jaw-dropping gorgeous. Just keep in mind, this hotel is for those that want the view. If you want a city-like feel, then this is not the place for you since going to the City is such an inconvenience. Also, the hotel offers adventure packages which are relatively competitive.

3-4 min ride on main hwy outside of town. Cool, bright paint scheme in cute bungalows, perfect for a base to explore area. Each has small balcony with table and chairs to enjoy the birds, read, and thunderstorms watching (July). Coffee maker in room with fridge. 2 breakfast choices come with fruit and juice: - eggs & ham, toast, no beans/rice or - eggs, beans and rice. Coffee is so flavorful I did not miss my daily British cuppa!! Owners are very accommodating. Asked for eggs fried for a change since typical is scrambled with beans and rice, and jam for the plain toast -- tipped them well at the end of the stay :) Borrowed umbrellas for rainy season / torrential rain the day we hiked. They gave us some milk for our in-room coffee as we forgot to buy at store. FYI's -- Wifi seems to cut out around 10 pm and 'hot' water on dial seemed best at 1-2 o'clock position and lasted for a quickie rinse. Bought a soap at the local store in town for 20 cents (as well as the coffee to take home 4 bucks /12 oz) for our 4 day stay with 4 bodies to soap; the hotel ones are the size of a quarter which is ample for an overnight. Pool and spa are ice cold -- too bad they cannot tap the local thermal pools ;) They actually said they are working on it so maybe the next visit! Overall a very enjoyable stay and I would return.

The staff was very helpful, and breakfast each morning was delicious. The hotel is a few miles from La Fortuna, and they do not serve meals after breakfast, so you will need a car to get to food and other attractions. My wife and I had a wonderful time. Make sure you know if you are coming during the rainy season - we didn't see the top of the volcano during our 3 night stay. I highly recommend it!

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was large enough for four and it was very clean. The only negative was that the mattress was hard, but other than that, no complaints. We also liked that this hotels was set back from the road. Some of the other comparable hotels were right on the road and right next to another hotel. Each bungalow had privacy and a nice view. Breakfast was very good, fresh fruit, eggs and toast. The surroundings are pretty with lots of birds around. We also felt very safe on the property.

Very nice place to stay - peaceful, great view of the volcano from your private deck, birds everywhere, comfortable bed. But beware - this hotel is about 8 km from town (Fortuna) and there is very poor-no bus service here so I don't recommend staying here without your own vehicle. Taxis are also quite expensive here since things are spread out. But highly recommend the hotel otherwise - great breakfast in airy outdoor dining room, great pool, great room, friendly staff.

I thought it was close volcano so can have more view , but it is same if you live in the nearby town la fortuna. You can have more choices of food, hotels and more travel routes. The volcano route supplied by the hotel has no difference between with the view when you sit in the hotel. I booked a trip back to san jose in the second day, but when we were ready to leave in the morning, the staff told us need to pay additional $80 to chane a private driver because the trip we ordered has no seats. Now talk about the worst part. The door and windows of the room have lots of gaps to allow many unknown insects in and out. I found my leg near ankle inflamed for 4CM* 5CM square in the second day morning. After asked one local guide when back to san jose, I bought a gel named ALERGEL to cure it. It cured the problem in two days. But I had a high fever for three days till today after back from this country. I have tried many medicine but no effect. It is a long and true story, but it is the worst experience in CR. I will never go back.

I BOOKED TWO ROOMS: 1- COUPLE & 1 - FAMILY. In my opinion, the family room had 1 queen size bed and 1 single bed, hence 4 persons were accommodated in the family room. upon my check out, I was told I had to pay $20.00 per night fee for 2 persons additional, a total of $80.00, which I found was inappropriate.

"Authentic and Rustic"
05/04/15 molly h Denver, Colorado
This place was amazing. We showed up late and in the dark, and Diego at the front desk was helpful enough to walk us to our bungalow and help us order some food from a late night delivery. The inside was wooden rustic one room, clean. When we woke up in the morning and pulled back the shades we were in awe- we had a direct view of Arenal Volcano! The breakfast at this hotel was truly authentic and delicious. This was no buffet style breakfast. A lovely woman handed us a menu with 3 choices, and then cooked up fresh our breakfast right there on the spot. Loved this place, only spent one night there on our travels, but would stay there again. All of this being said, this is not an all-inclusive resort. It's outside of the town of La Fortuna. We had our own rental car. Tour companies will pick you up at this resort.

"Great place if you have a car"
04/19/15 Stuart Y London, United Kingdom
Bit out of town, but if you want a quieter stay and have a car (which we did), it's a great place. Individual lodges give you real space and privacy. The breakfast was nice, view of the volcano was fantastic, and the birds around were really nice. Reception staff were also extremely helpful and nice. The room did attract quite a few quite big ants, so had to keep a sandal handy to address this (maybe found like 5-10 per day), but it wasn't a major issue, and we found this with several places we stayed in costa rica. Had the cutest dog there, but he did have a habit of trying to eat guests shoes, which was cute at first but could get a bit tiresome. Overall though, the little irritations were minor things, and the overall experience there was a very positive one.

"Alright hotel. Hire a car."
03/29/15 Douglas P London, England, United Kingdom
Room was nice, and on the clearer days gave a fantastic view of the volcano (on misty days the volcano was invisible). The breakfast was ok and the staff were generally helpful. The pool, however, was dirty and green, with a light dangling on its cable in the pool, so we didn't fancy going in. We were surprised to find that there was no on-site restaurant, and you need a taxi to get anywhere. I wouldn't recommend this hotel unless you're going to hire a car.

The room was very nice and had a perfect view of the volcano. There were toucan's, macaws and lots of other types of birds. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is in the Arenal area. Perfect location to do many different things.

"Our Mother-Daughter Adventure"
02/25/15 Eartheducator Saint Johnsbury, Vermont
We booked this stay through Booking.com because our first hotel in Fortuna did not have a second night available for us. The Hotel Miradas Arenal was a great step up. We arrived early to be sure our reservation was solid and they were ready for us to check in. We had a private cabin with a small back deck where we sat and looked up at the Arenal Volcano. Spectacular. There were sloths in the "yard" that many other tour guides stopped to show to their clients. We just sat on our deck looking at them! There were birds and beautiful plants all visible from our deck. Our reservation included breakfast but we had booked a tour that required we leave before the chance to have the breakfast. I am sure it would have been delicious. I will stay to find out next time.

"Cute little bungalows with a perfect view"
02/15/15 kylie_jo85 Dawson Creek, Canada
Loved our little bungalow at Miradas Arenal (we were in Cabin 6). We had 2 very large beds, and the bathroom was nice and big, as well as a mini fridge and shelving for suitcases etc. The lady at the front desk was wonderful, as well as the breakfast staff, they were all great. Breakfast was very good and the view from the breakfast area was great! The pool was muggy (from all the rain in this area) so don't plan to swim in it. Our little patio was perfect for sitting on in the morning and enjoying all the birds and the view of the volcano. Far from town, which was a pain, but a very nice little place to stay if you have a vehicle.

"Nice cabins and view"
02/05/15 escapewintersoon Winnipeg, Canada
The individual cabins are nice. Each has a good view of the volcano when (if) the clouds lift. The beds were not comfortable. You could feel the springs. Breakfast was good but insufficient for big eaters. Not a great location if you don't have a vehicle. You are too far from town to walk and the highway is dangerous for pedestrians. At least some restaurants deliver as hotel only has breakfast. Rooms have fridge and coffee maker. Grounds are nice with lots of birds.

"Nice stay in January"
02/02/15 CM_Charleston Charleston, South Carolina
My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights in January. We were looking for a lower budget hotel with individual bungalows and got exactly what we expected. The staff was very friendly. The breakfasts were good. They offered three options included with your stay as well as other options for an additional charge. We opted for the typical beans and rice with scrambled eggs both mornings. The breakfast area near the pool was very pleasant. The bungalows were clean and nice. We had two king beds. Unfortunately, the mattresses were not the best, but we slept fine. The bathroom was clean with a very large shower. The bungalow's large windows provide a perfect view of the volcano. However, although January is considered the "dry season" in Costa Rica, it was rainy and cool most of the time we were in this area. The clouds only lifted above the volcano a few times. However, when they did, it was amazing! We had a rental car which made driving to town for dinner and to visit the other attractions such as ziplining, arenal hanging bridges, and the waterfall very convenient. All of these can be done on your own with no need to arrange tours.
