The appartment was very nice, very spacious clean and modern, and we had everything we needed (apart from a washing machine, that was advertised but inexistent). It was a great place to stay for a week, and we would probably stay again. I would recommend the appartment as we really enjoyed our stay, however I could not recommend it to people with mobiliy […] problems (incl old people and disabled people), or families with prams, or even travellers with big suitcases, due to the very steep alleyway to reach the building, and the steepness of the stairs of the property. We were very happy about communication to apt. Mgr. Thanks for all the helpGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Pros: great view, basic supplies (e.g. dishwashing fluid), fast wifi Cons: up one of the steepest streets in Lisbon which taxis (except the obscure ones known only to the owner) refuse to climb, so you'll be stuck carrying your luggage up it and believe me its a steep inconvenient hill (conveniently not indicated anywhere on the ad, when we signed […] up), owner likes to add insult to injury by charging excessive price for hotel shuttle as well, decent place but completely not worth it when you consider 4-star hotels, with breakfast, 24-hr staff, daily cleaning, etc were basically charging us the same price, once we were there Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Francisco was a great host, hard working ,speaks well and is service oriented. Communication with him was a breeze as he responded promptly and accommodated to the needs of our stay. He greeted us at the airport (with the airport transfer that we requested, which was inexpensive) and was kind enough to drive us around to get our bearings prior to check-in. […] He also helped us with our bags which we could not be more grateful for. The property sits on a steep incline (and then some) and our room was on the top floor. The view out of our room paid off all that agony! Apartment was comfortable and clean. Would not recommend this apartment for persons with reduced mobility. As most of Lisbon conserves what is left of their architectural remnants, this apartment does not have an elevator, although its interior was modern and had industrial finishes. Location of the property is central and accessible to all areas. At check-out for airport transfer, there were some guests Francisco was receiving at the airport whose flight was delayed and couldn't pick us up in time. He arranged for a taxi driver whom he trusts to substitute this and it went smoothly.

"Pleasant, relaxing and convenient"
I stayed here for 6 nights, on one of the top floor appartment. Pretty place, perfect view over the lower city and facing Bairro Alto. Close to the big Avenida / metro Restauradores, and many of the inner city highlights on walking distance. Just a remark, the last 100 m is a steep (bit slippery) climb, 25 % I guess. The appartment rooms (separate living […] and sleeping) are big, and equipped with all necessary items as is listed on their website. Toilet and shower quite crampy, but that will do. The only slightly negative is that sink and mirror are located in a sort of alcove, which will do for portuguese sized -, but not for tall Dutch people :-) :-). Anyway I would recommend this appartment to anyone who hate to stay in crampy, busy, noisy hotel rooms (and yes I had very bad experiences in Lisbon !) or alternatively expensive hotels.
"Travellers house superior studio"

Nice big studio, very well equipped, in a very good location, walking distance to everywhere, pretty much. They really do need to email proper directions to get there and put a sign up so that you know when your there. With directions it's very easy to find, but with just an address its a nightmare. They need to deal with the damp problem as you can smell it the moment you walk in, and the windows are need of replacement. However don't be put off too much by that, it is a lovely studio and we had a brilliant couple of days there.

Excellent location in the city centre "baixa de Lisboa". The acess is not easy, expecially when having too many bags, but the road can easly be climbed. Very modern room (uau) with laundry service and coffe machine as well.
"Can I move in please?"

I love these studios so much that I just want to move in and call it my own. If you're reading this I am guessing you're thinking about a trip to Lisbon so don't hesitate, book this place now and I'll be just that little bit jealous. You can see the pictures on here and it really is as good in real life. It's great to have your own space and you can almost kid yourself that you live in this cool City. We stayed twice so got to try out both the big and small studio. Both have the same good amenities including kitchen, TV, docking station, wifi etc. You just need to decide which is better for you: The big studio is really spacious and divided up into three areas - a kitchen with dining table, a big living room and the bedroom. Great if you're staying for a few days. The small studio is maybe slightly more quirkily stylish, obviously a little cheaper but the real selling point is the views to absolutely die for. The only drawback was that there was no storage for clothes so if you're there for a while it could get annoying. The staff were also incredibly helpful. The studios have no reception so you have to arrange to meet them there in advance. We arrived really late on our first night but this was no problem. We also popped into the hostel one day for advice on trains to Porto and again they couldn't have been more helpful. The only one thing to consider is that the hostel itself is a 15 min walk away. It looked fantastic in there with loads of communal space and they organise loads of social events so if you want to be in the heart of it all then you may prefer to check out the hostel. But all in all I would definitely stay here again.
"Excellent studio near city center"

What a great place, with unbelievably friendly and helpful staff. We stayed in the studios owned by Travellers House, not at the actual hostel. The studio was inexpensive, clean, and well-furnished (stove, microwave, sink, toaster, cups/plates, etc) and a perfect place from which to explore the city. Note that the apartments are at a different location from the hostel (about 10 minute walk). The view from our room was wonderful, overlooking all of downtown Lisbon. The apartments are a 3 minute walk from the main square and metro/train stops (great location). Email communication prior to arrival was great, and they answered all questions and offered travel instructions from the airport. Upon arrival we called the hostel and were met at the door of the studios by a staff person who showed us the room and then spent a long time with us providing helpful details about things to do and see in the city. The hospitality and friendliness was excellent (everyone spoke English, which was great since our Portuguese isn't great). You can also eat breakfast at the hostel (eggs, cereal, coffee/tea, crepes) but you must pay an additional 3 euro per person if you're staying at the apartments. You can stop by the hostel anytime for travel trips and ideas (which we did several times), or participate in any of the hostel daily activities -- the staff is always kind and helpful. One important note: in order to get to the apartments you walk up a large hill, then up a lot of stairs to get to the room. For that you get a wonderful view, but it is an extra trek. If you just want a cheap and friendly place to stay without the kitchen amenities the hostel might be a better bet for you.
"The TH Villas"

I stayed in one of the Travellers House Studio Villas. It was great. Very clean with everything you need, Very private, up high with a magical view of the city down to the river. The studios are about a 10min walk from the hostel in Augusta. Right through what I would describe as the old theatre district. Great location central to everything. The studios are up 2 or 3 flights and is a bit of a climb up the hill to and from the building, especially with luggage. Great workout. The staff at Travellers are super helpful and made me feel very welcome, thank-you team.
"Hip apartment, but not easy to find or access"
09/17/12 ChrissyFlanagan Sydney, Australia
I liked staying in the apartment but the logistics of actually locating it and getting in were prohibitive and I agree with other reviews that say this could be largely rectified with more communication from the staff. My taxi driver had no idea where the street was, in the end just pointed down the hill of little lane with tram tracks and left me there. My own fault for having two heavy suitcases (this is 100% a location best suited to backpacks), I trundled with great difficult down the hill, couldn't find the apartment block (which has no sign, even when a passing local helped me find it). I had had to text message ahead to confirm my arrival time because there's no on site reception but for some reason (that was no fault of the staff) the text message hadn't been received and there was no one there to let me in so I had to wait for someone to come from the hostel. Three flights of steps, no lift. You have to pay cash at the time of check in, which is not convenient. You get an email telling you you need to pay cash and you need to text message them your arrival time, I'd suggest adding a section about how to recognise the building when you're looking for it and heads up that you should be fit to stay there. The apartment itself was nice, very stylish. There was just one of me but I felt very comfortable. It is located close to touristy stuff if that's what you're after, and close to the city also.
"Lovely apartments, great service"
06/11/12 DanDanDanDanDanDanDa Stockholm, Sweden
Lovely apartments perfectly located for sightseeing in Lisbon. A misunderstanding led to our studio having too few beds, but the staff was very helpful and fixed it all. The apartments must have been newly renovated and were clean and stylishly furnished. Beds were comfortable and the bathroom gorgeous. Be prepared for a hike up a steep slope and a couple stair cases after that.
"Best accomodation yet"
05/27/12 Rok M Maribor, Slovenia
In the last year and a half, my girlfriend & I visited Germany, England, Spain, France... And this was by far the best accomodation. You get everything you need. Little kitchen with induction cooktop, microwave, toaster, coffe machine... Bathroom, comfy bed, sofa, tv, free wifi... We had the room in 3rd floor, and the best part of it was the view. You saw river Tejo and whole central Lisbon and Bairro Alto. I would really recomend it to young and fit people. Why? Well that's the only problem. Studio is on a steep hill, and it can be really demanding after a long day of strolling through Lisbon. The staff was extreamly helpfull. Because of our late arrival, they even picked us up from the airport. The guy (Nelson i think) was really friendly and gave us a quick tour on the way to the studios. All in all, great experience we will never forget.
"Studio was really good value"
01/19/12 SSAN21 AUSTRALIA
After 3 weeks of cramped european hotel rooms it was so nice to have a big apartment to spread out in. We stayed in the liberade suite for 4 nights and it was spotlessly clean and well furnished. Incredible value at 60 euros a night. So good to have washing machine and kitchen. The smaller units are even cheaper. Its a real hike up a steep hill then steep staircase up to the third level to get to it so if you are unfit you would struggle heaps. We are 2 fit 30 year olds and we struggled - especially if you do it a few times a day! Other than the steep hill the only other downer was that the shower seemed to be on some sort of a timer. The hot water lasted about a minute (maybe even less) each time we showered. At first we thought the hot water was running out but it cut out after exactly the same amount of time each time we showered. Not enough time to even wash my hair. This got annoying after a while. Would definetly stay here again for the space and value. You have access to the hostel and the activities they run too.
"Great studio in Lovely Lisbon"
11/19/11 LindsayandKatrina Toronto, Canada
The studio was great and had everything you could possibly need - a kitchenette, washer, travel books, and the social aspect of the hostel just down the street. It was spacious with a great view. The only drawback was it was a little bit cold. The location was also nice and central. We enjoyed our walk up the steep funicular hill and spiral staircases but could be tough for those with restricted mobility.
