"Great location but under construction and noisy"
I had a small but adequate room on the first floor. No TV in the room and no desk to work at. There was a water damage in the bathroom which made it smell in there and the room was just over the bar so noisy at night. Also noisy in the morning since there was obviosuly construction work going on that I was not told about before booking or when checking […] in. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean and Welcoming"
My partner and I stayed here in January for 3 nights. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The rooms were warm and the decor was lovely, very fresh. The beds were ridiculously comfy! So much that we slept in on the last morning. As this place doesn't serve breakfast as yet i would recommend the little cafe next door. Also for an evening meal the Juli Vert is not far away and does lovely rustic meals. I would definitely stay here again and have recommended it to friends.
"Comfortable and charming hotel in great location"

This hotel was perfect for our family's trip to Barcelona. It was near many of the sites we wanted to visit -- most walking distance, others an easy metro ride from either the Plaza Catalunya or Universitat stations -- and it was on a charming side street (quiet). There were nice restaurants and cafes nearby, as well as little markets. The staff were helpful and friendly, the room was comfortable and roomy (we liked the large walk-in shower).
"Central Location - No frills Comfort"

Hotel is ideal for one or two. Layout of the room is excellent including bathroom. Hotel is clean and recently renovated. Has lift and stairs are convenient. Very good value. No breakfast but next door to cafe. On pedestrian road connecting to Las Ramblas. Some street noise from nightlife but with windows and shutters closed, disturbance is minimal. Large safety deposit box and relatively large room. Staff is alert, polite and well informed. Plaza de Catalunya is 5 minute walk, at most. Caters to value attuned travellers.
"Spartan room; great location"

My wife and I stayed in Hostal Grau during a recent trip to Barcelona. We visited this hotel a few years ago and returned primarily for the great customer service. The staff was outstanding during this visit too. We arrived early and the staff allowed us to register early and held our luggage while we visited local sights. We returned later in the day and were happy to find that our luggage was waiting for us in the room. The hotel was extensively remodeled since our first visit. The rooms are spartan (no phone, tv, or radio), much more modern than before, and its clear that being eco friendly was the primary goal. The location is ideal, close to metro, Las Ramblas, and grocery store nearby. Great base for a visit.
"Clean, modern and just off the Ramblas"

Lovely large (Superior) room for a reasonable price, on the first floor with a balcony overlooking the little plaza out front. Everything was immaculate, with a very nice bathroom, hanging closet and safe. There was a desk and plenty of outlets for charging electronics. Best part was the friendly, charming and helpful staff. And the Bar Centric, located directly under our room, where we went every morning for coffee and every evening for a nightcap. Also delightful people there. The neighborhood was filled with little shops, bars, and restaurants. Placa Catalunya and Las Ramblas are two blocks away. Great find.

someone really thought through the design and materials. it was extremely comfortable and bright, and feels a lot less like a hotel and a lot more like the kind of apartment an expat might rent out for a few months. our room had an absolutely massive bed.
"clean and green in the heart of the city"

This little gem of a hotel fulfilled all our hopes for our long-awaited trip to barcelona. Ideally located to get to all the sites by foot or metro, it was clean, quiet and eco-conscious. The beds were fantastic, rivaling much higher end hotels. We got personal attention from the staff at this family run guest house, who even made cakes and cookies for a Halloween party complete with homemade decorations. They are soon to get their LEED certification, showing their commitment to a chemical free environment. Beyond that, Hostal Grau is dedicated to its clients knowledgeable about Barcelona, helpful and honest. Tip: book directly through the hotel for a better rate. Highly recommended
":) :) :)"
So glad we picked Hostal Grau! everything about it was lovely. Our first time in Barcelona and everyone at the hostal was very helpful. Rooms are fresh clean and spacious! Definitely enjoyed our honeymoon stay here. A little noise buzz at night due to the bar centric downstairs but we didn't mind.. cant beat them join them for a drink or 2 :) Exactly what we did! Thank you Hostal Grau team!

This hostal DOES NOT include breakfasts. The location is perfect: 5 walking minutes from Plaza Catalunya. This hostal is perfect for those looking nothing but a good bed and a good shower nothing else. It is so eco that black ants walk by in your room... I have been in other eco hotels with lots of more eco details than this one. There is no place to put your clothes but a small piece of furniture. no carpets... no TV, no radio or telefon, really simple. I didn't like the WIFI asking me every single time for my password...and neither the late cleaning of our room... We were three at the room and they would always put only two towels. Otherwise receptionists are very helpful and kind. Be aware not to bring anything valuable...otherwise is not a promise you will bring it back home... :o(
"Location Is An Asset"

The directions from the website were helpful in finding the location which was near but not on La Rambla. The lobby is nicely decorated and the overall impression is that they have taken their Eco theme to heart using recycled items in innovative ways. Check-in was efficient and we were directed to our room on the fourth floor. The elevator was small but we had plenty of space for ourselves and our luggage. Word to the wise: to activate the room lights, the room key card must be inserted into an interior slot near the front door. We had to return to the lobby to ask for help since there was no phone in the room. The room was freshly redone with a window which opened so we could choose to invite in the street sounds as we wished. The room was done with grey and white and little else. Again the decor was Eco/green with use of recycled items. The bathroom was spacious although wee found the wooden slat floor int he shower to be a bit strange. For European standards, the shower was, however, very large. The linens were of good quality. It was obvious that not all the kinks had been worked out of their remodel but we found the room to be a good value especially taking into account the location and the relatively quietness of our room. The desk staff were personable and helpful. I would recommend this hotel without reservation.
