I had a small but adequate room on the first floor. No TV in the room and no desk to work at. There was a water damage in the bathroom which made it smell in there and the room was just over the bar so noisy at night. Also noisy in the morning since there was obviosuly construction work going on that I was not told about before booking or when checking in.

Great little hostal in Barcelona. Downtown close to everything and transportation. The staff was very helpful and nice. The room was also the room was fairly quiet and clean. They recycle and have a "green" atmosphere. We felt the security was excellent and felt very safe.
Hostal Grau provides clean & simple accommodation, with very friendly & helpful staff. Great location - walking distance to all of downtown Barcelona, but not on a main thoroughfare (which means you won't be kept up all night by the party crowd).
We (a family of 4) stayed in one of Hostal Grau's apartments - 2 br, kitchen & dining area. Super mercado just a few blocks away to get breakfast foods. Within a 3 minute walk to Pl. Catalunya and buses/metro. Apartment not fancy, very basic, but met all needs. Staff had good suggestions for dining and called us a taxi for early morning trip to airport. Great places to eat/drink nearby. Really quiet at night although in a busy area. Stay there - you will like it! Good value for a larger group.
Centrally located, this hotel is perfect for a visit to the city. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are compact, but well-decorated and have all the necessary items. Exceptionally clean. Good value.
We stayed in this lovely hotel 4 nights last summer. Can't say anything bad about it. Very central to everything, simple rooms but with all amenities.Big shower with great water pressure. Simple breakfast in adjoining cafe, used by hotel guests and locals every morning. Street has lots of little bars used by locals but also nice little bar attached to hotel. Our room was overlooking the street and it was not noisy at all. Hotel has a lift. At the top of las ramblas, metro around the corner. Overall a great base.
Great little place. Perfect for me in my own. Close to everything! Very clean, good value. Staff very helpful. If u book twin/double room, be sure to check the right bed had been confirmed. Staff were lovely. Room was lovely, spacious and airy but lacked a little something to give it a final touch and a bit of colour/personality...like a beautiful flower or a lampshade.
Just got back after 3 nights at Hostal Grau and have to say for the cost and location it couldn't be bettered. We've stopped in fancy hotels and paid premium prices for sullen and discourteous staff but at the Hostal Grau you are welcomed with warmth and genuine helpfulness. They allowed us to drop our bags in a secure room upon our early arrival and to leave in the same room, plus let us freshen up, after checkout because of our late flight. The rooms were a pleasant change from the same/ same layouts and furniture choices in other hotels. I had asked for a room above the ground floor, (I think all of the rooms are anyway) and room 404 allowed a view of the surrounding streets in 3 directions.
The Bar Centric next door satisfied our need for late drinks with a very friendly and polite man behind the bar. We only had breakfast here once and were served by a young woman who must have got out of the wrong side of the bed that morning. Bad tempered and no smile after we had waited a few minutes while she crashed plates and cutlery about.
All in all you couldn't find a more friendly, clean and well priced hotel in the location if you tried. Hope to return another day.
Cheap, clean, nice style, central location (5 minutes to ramblas, gotic, placa de catalyna),
very friendly stuff.
Perfect for a short trip.
We has breakfast next door in cafe central which was cheap and tasty.
We stayed for 3 nights, nice hotel, small and clean room, great facilities, and very welcoming staff )english speakers).
The location is near the Rambla which is great, and very close to plaza Catalonia.
no TV but none needed.
This hotel may turn out much better once their new addition is available for breakfast in the mornings. Some of the bathrooms for my group had cockroaches and ants in the drainage system and needed to be cleaned out. The location of the hotel is great and close to the Ramblas.
