"Best Hotel to stay in South Mumbai approachable"
Very pleasing staff, nice ambience in the gallery, clean and spacious rooms. The best thing was that we forgot some of our snacks and chocolates while checking out,the reception man was so nice that he called me next morning and was informing me about our missing items. That showed real courtsey. Thanks lot for that.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Bra hotell centralt"
Ett hotell som ligger bra till centralt i Mumbai med nära gångavstånd till Chowpatty beach och western railway som man kan ta sig runt i hela Mumbai med.Genuine Expedia guest review
Not a fancy schmanzy hotel, but a real decent budget hotel close to Mumbai Central. Clean rooms, helpful staff and all that, but they top it all by serving outstandingly good breakfast! On budget hotels that is quite rare from our experience. Also don't be afraid of trying their coffee, coffeelovers! It's really really good!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great value for money!"

I booked a room there and paid about 23 euros for one night which was quite cheap for Bombay. For that, I got a nice clean double room with a shower that was difficult to work at first but worked fine after. The staff were extremely polite and the restaurant/room service provided good (though small portions) of Indian food for very affordable prices. The hotel was a walking distance away from both Grant Rd and Mumbai Central stations, so the location was fine. That being said, it's not very central to most of the sights in Mumbai, so if you want to see the Gateway to India during rush hour you're out of luck. WiFi didn't work in my room, but it worked in the common areas and they didn't mind me sitting in the restaurant using it. Check-out was at a very early hour (9.30 according to hotels.com, "8am officially but 9.30 is fine" according to the front desk).

We visited here in March 2014 and stayed for 4 nights. Room was quite small but very clean and the hotel public areas were all clean also. The hotel restaurant was nice where we had breakfast and also on occasions we had lunch and dinner there, good value for money and nice food. All of the staff from management to housekeeping were very helpful. Location was ok, seemed to be in a business/residential which was good for us to get to see some of the "real" Mumbai, also we love to walk and Chowpatty Beach was approx. 20 mins walk. All of the sights in Mumbai easily accessible by public transport, auto rickshaw or taxi. Overall a very nice stay, we would stay here again and would recommend others to stay here too. Thank you to all the team!
"Bad budget hotel, if you can spend a little more, go somewhere else!"

Pros + They cleaned the room every day, and gave us an extra bedsheet that we asked for + They give you a map of Mumbai Cons - Wifi only in main areas - Very limited restaurant - REALLY small room (check the pictures), we couldnt even walk if we had the luggage open. Also the bathroom was really small. - AC is AWFULLY noisy!! We couldnt sleep with it turned on, but the heat woked us, so we had to turn it on, then off, and so on.... - They tried to scam us on our checkout! We knew that there was a taxi stop just next to the hotel, so we were going to take a taxi to the airport, but a BellBoy (the one that was in charge of the night shift) stopped us and told us that he was going to get a cab for us, and didnt accept a no for an answer, so he ran in front of us, spoke with a taxi driver, and they tried to charge us 500 rupees for a 300 trip! When we started to leave the taxi, the driver finally accepted the correct price
"Small but clean budget hotel"

I stayed in this hotel for three months. I used to check-in on Monday evenings and check out on Friday mornings. I continued this for almost 15 weeks. The hotel is small and the rooms are also not very big but it is very clean and the service is superb. There is no restaurant in the hotel but it is flanked with number of good Veg. as well Non-veg restaurant around. The sevice staff of the hotel is always ready to bring anything you would wish to eat. Good idea to stay in Kumkum, if you have to stay in Mumbai for a long duration.
"Good budget choice in expensive Mumbai."

I was pretty surprised by the high prices of "budget" places in Mumbai. KumKum was more than adequate to meet my needs for a place to stay for a few nights. The exterior and neighborhood aren't pretty, but the rooms are clean enough and the people that work there are friendly and helpful. The food served was fine, too. I'd stay here again.
"Fantastic budget hotel"

After travelling through India the price of accomadation in Mumbai can be a bit of a shock. However this budget hotel provides clean, safe and affordable rooms. The cafe in the hotel serves freshly prepared vegetarian options. Located not too far from Chowpatty Beach and Marine Drive, it is in a good location. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Mumbai
"A pleasant stay"

I was looking for a budget hotel. I decided to book this hotel based on the reviews on this website. The hotel website is easy to navigate, unfortunately I was not able to get all the nights I wanted via online booking, I made contact with the hotel via email and phone and fortunately they were able to accommodate me for my whole stay, very helpful, if they were not able to they offered to put me in a local hotel for the night which was fully booked, so had a solution to the problem. On arriving in Mumbai, my taxi driver was not familiar with hotel kumkum and explaining that it was on Lamington road did not make it easier- although the website does provide location and directions, it would be useful to have a line/phrase/landmark we can tell taxi drivers on arrival- under section 'what to tell taxi driver' :) My flight arrived early morning, before checking in time -The Manager, Mr Mody emailed me the forms to fill out before hand which made check -in quicker and would recommend future visitors to complete this before arriving. As I arrived before check in time the hotel staff provided me with a room just to rest my head after a long journey while I waited for my room. It did take a while to finally get my room, slightly longer than I anticipated, but staff were apologetic. I booked a single room, the room was clean with ensuite, no issues with creepy crawlies, and working AC, although many reviewers commented on the noise, my room was on the far end of the hotel (not great view admittedly but I was not bothered by this) and was not really affected by the noise. The TV was not working but this was not an issue for me and I am sure if I had raised it with reception/management they would have arranged for this to be fixed. I had a friend who had booked in another hotel, but due to poor conditions there he decided to move out and as he was desperatly looking for a place, with hotel kumkums agreement he moved in with me into single room with a comfortable mattress on the floor for extra 400rupees. I suppose this also demonstrates that the single rooms are relatively spacious to accommodate another person. WIFI was only available near reception and in the cafe upstairs, the wifi in reception seem to be more reliable. One improvement would be installing wifi in the rooms and Mr Mody had mentioned he was looking into this. The cafe on top floor provided decent vegetarian food, would be useful to provide a list of nearby resturants which may serve meat in the back of the menu booklet of the hotel cafe, which is provided in the room. There was a laundry service which I believe is outsourced and I did not experience any issues with this. Reception are helpful, English is not always strong, but the more senior staff speak good English. Overall I had a pleasant stay and would probably stay here again if looking for a budget hotel, travelling alone or with friend.
"To avoid at all costs..."

Where do I start? The outside look of the hotel is a serious turn off. I was seriously taken aback when I saw the condition of the outside walls- dirty and old with paint coming off. From outside, it looks more like a lodge than a hotel. There seems to be a tax levied on smile in this hotel- the staff do not bother to smile when you cross them in the corridors. The rooms are extremely tight and small- upon placing our two suitcases on the floor, we barely had space to move around. My request to have a bigger room was obviously greeted with a "you have to pay more" reply. The furniture inside the room upon which the TV was placed seems to date back to the prehistoric period. The least said about the bathroom and the sink the better. One the final day of our stay, they did not even both clean our room even though we left the key at the reception before going out. This is definitely not the best surroundings either. It's very dirty and smelly around. The one star is for the lady at the reception who was very kind and helpful. She offered me the best advice about how to get to Mira Road quickly and also how to move around. She was the only plus point of this terrible hotel.
"economically priced hotel"
04/18/14 mariadeChicago2012 Chicago, Illinois
This place is good for transient travelers looking for reasonably priced hotel. Location is accessible to taxis and you can walk to the beach. Service is okay. Staff are friendly and always ready to help. One thing I noticed was that kitchen staff does not wear food gloves in preparing meals. Rooms are a bit small but not up to standard in keeping it clean. Overall, this is economically reasonable for short stays.
