Room had no covering on the bathroom window. If you are looking for modern comforts look elsewhere. Bed was a spring mattress that was very uncomfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Was okay for a one night stay. Had hair with our towels & on the pillows. Phone did not work either.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hotel is historic and cool. Most of the rooms are different and are named after famous people. We got the Siouxsie Sioux room which was spacious with shaggy carpet and dark, goth-inspired draperies and bed linens. The bathroom only had a jetted tub, no shower. This was not a huge deal to me, but could be for others. The hotel is a little loud since […] it's located near many bars and venues. This didn't bother me, but it's something to consider. The front desk clerk was less than friendly, but she got the job done and we checked in with ease. There is a bar and coffee shop on-site and would be a great place to hang out. We were so tired after traveling all day that we went to dinner and then went to sleep. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The walls are quite thin; we spent a good part of the night and next morning listening to our neighbors. Otherwise, the hotel is clean and fairly nice for an old hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location and nice other than a bad shower"
We came up to enjoy the snow and some sledding. This hotel's location is idea as it's within walking distance to many restaurants and bars. The hotel is in good shape and quite quaint. It is an old school hotel though and some things were a bit odd. the shower is the one stand out disappointment. Very small and the water pressure was terrible. It reminded […] us of the shower Will Ferrell takes in the movie Elf. Otherwise, the beds are rather soft and comfortable and the room was just fine. Parking was a PITA but we expected that and that's always true of a downtown hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A huge noisy dissapointment."
I was in the hotel for less than 12 hours. I chose it for its location relative to the train station. It was a really cute hotel. The room was tiny but I expected that because of the age. There is a bar and restaurant on the main floor, which is also where you get your ice. I would not suggest this hotel if you are planning to actually sleep there. […] If you want to party till 2 am then pass out in your room this is the place. I could hear all the street noise,,hotel guests, and drunken bar patrons until just after 2 when it finally quieted down. The worst was when at 2:02 some guy starts knocking on my door. I had just heard him tell someone else not to open the emergency exit to smoke and then felt the need to tell me too. Folks I had been locked in my non-smoking room since 6pm and trying to sleep since 9. I was angry. I refused to open the door. When I left the hotel at 5:45 I asked the clerk if he was the one who knocked on my door he seemed shocked then told me it was probably one of the bouncers from the bar! I would not stay at this hotel again, ever! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"charming but NOISEY!!"
The room was comfortable. They are smaller rooms with a small bathroom. I did find it odd that the shower was in the room but it is a older hotel and the bathroom was probably added later. The room did not have room darkening curtains.(This would be a cheap fix) The problem I did have with the hotel is the room we were given was the first door on the […] 2nd floor. The first floor is made up of several bars with LOUD music. The music was so loud until 2 am that we couldn't sleep at all. It was a great location but if I ever went back, I would ask for a higher floor away from the stairs. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fun, funky hotel in downtown Flagstaff"
Absolutely love the hotel, it is charming and fun! There are many themed rooms, though we didn't stay in one we enjoyed seeing the names of famous people who had stayed there. The room is tiny, tiny! It just encourages you to explore more of Flagstaff and maybe hang out in the bar downstairs. Very fun vibe in the lounge, there is karaoke and pool tables. […] Cheap drinks, too! I would recommend this hotel to all of my friends. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Location in Flagstaff"
I love downtown Flagstaff. It was a wonderful old Hotel. I think there are few things that can be improved on but for the price and location can't beat it. Love the Monte VGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"No mirror in the room and bathroom?"
Room is not comfortable at all. Pillows very old and pillow cases &sheets look very old. I wonder if they been changed? I could hear all the noises from the other rooms. Room does not have any mirror. There is the tiny one in the bathroom - I could barely see my face.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Couldn't connect to the free wifi at all; it kept saying 'wrong password', and the front desk's only solution was a paper that said to contact my device's manufacturer. Not enough free parking; had to pay $10 to park overnight in the underground lot across the street. Several pieces of trash on floor in room. Gross metal blinds. Seriously unattractive […] tub/shower. Soo much noise everywhere. This stay was maybe worth half of what I paid. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Exactly as expected."
My stay was as expected. I assumed as an older hotel it would be less modern but more charming, and it was. My room was relatively small and the bathroom was cramped. But the best part was the location. It was in the heart of downtown and a short walk to NAU. For the price, you can't beat the location and charm.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Monte V = Good for Fun Night"
Great location for dinner and show at the Orpheum. Club downstairs was fun after the show. Room was huge, bathroom small, but it was all fun and a great Flagg adventure.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was smaller than i expected and no refrigerator, it was also kind of odd having the sink at the foot of the bed. Bed was comfortable and lounge was nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel in perfect location"
I thought the hotel was great. It's in a perfect location to enjoy all the shops and restaurants, and the room was quirky and charming. The hotel and the room had lots of character, including a shower that you enter directly from the bedroom area, which is a little weird, but definitely adds to the charm. The room rate was a steal for the area, and […] I would definitely stay here again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Noisy Night, Wafer-thin Pillows, and Fan of DOOM"
Clack, clack, clack, clack, clack, clack, clack. That's what we heard the entire night as our ceiling fan wobbled two and fro like someone in a world championship hula-hoop competition. While the room appeared clean (minus the previous guest's bobby pins still on the nightstand and the used bar of soap below the vanity), the paper-thin doors, walls, […] and windows gave us an interesting symphony as we could hear conversations of other guests, closing doors, staff speaking with one another, and cars driving down the street with extreme clarity the entire night. That coupled with wafer-thin pillows, you could guess that we didn't get much sleep while we wondered if the fan would finally come crashing down or not. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Stayed in the Monte Vista so there was no need to walk when going to a concert and enjoying the night life afterwards. I was taken with the condition of the hotel, expecting a worn out location I was pleased to see new woodwork in the elevator, clean everywhere, quiet. "Nice 1900 hotel in historic district."
Hotel was nice and fun place to stay, right in historic district with lots of restaurants and bars. Our room was comfy, but no A/C in our room, so needed ceiling fan and windows open. But 1st floor bar was so noisy, we had to close windows which didn't help much. Lots of noise until 2:00AM when bars closed... If you go during college semesters, expect […] the bar to be loud! And we were on 4th floor... Still a fun stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Location was great. We stayed for a concert down the street at the orpheum theater. The bars were really fun with a great staff. I would go back with friends but i may not take my kids. There was nothing inappropriate but just geared more towards adults. Rooms weren't very impressive but fine for a place to crash after a late night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The only complaint was that our room was facing East so when the sun rose in the morning the room became very hot and very bright. Some darker curtains would have been nice but other than that we were very satisfied with the hotel and its location!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Historic Charm & Great Location"
This hotel was great for many reasons. We loved the historic charm present throughout the hotel. All the rooms were named for old time celebrities. We stayed in the Freddie Mercury room which had a purple and gold theme. The room wasn't very big but we hardly spent any time in there so it didn't matter. As a heads up, there is not central air, but each […] room has an a/c unit in the window. The location of the hotel was great too. "Noise & Maintenance Issues"
There were groups of people outside the hotel and on our floor making loud and obnoxious noises that woke us up at 1:30 AM. Also, the shower curtain and rod were improperly installed causing water to go on the door molding and floor. About 2 inches of molding has deteriorated and there is concern about mold. We will not stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Didn't have high expectations due to the hotels age and other reviews. However, I'm usually more tolerant than most people so I thought it would be ok. . Debated if this hotel was charming or horrible. Horrible won. Dirty, rundown, smelled bad, ancient bedspread. Hotel lacks maintenance, good for a very short period, overall clean but could do better, and it would be nice if they had free coffee for guests and more free parking spaces. Very good location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
It's an old hotel so don't expect any fancy frills. Staff is very friendly. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Hotel bar is EXCELLENT. Parking in downtown Flagstaff is horrible at best. Food at local restaurants downtown is fantastic. A visit to the Hotel Monte Vista is all about the experience. Enjoy it.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rough around the edges"
The location was terrific, the hotel is situated in proximity to the downtown. The bar/lounge was extremely noisy into the wee hours of the morning when folks poured out onto the streets and continued their conversations at full volume and with a colorful vocabulary. We loved the idea of staying there because of the historical value. There was an attempt […] to create an atmosphere based on the particular star for whom each room was named. We were in the Humphrey Bogart room. The walls were black and the spreads were a dark maroon color and slick to the touch. The carpets were quite dirty and the bathroom shower tile was in disrepair. "Wonderful historic hotel"
We so enjoyed this stay in the center of the historic district of Flagstaff. The room was tiny, but nicely appointed, except for there being no coffee pot, which would have been so nice, first thing in the morning. The noise on the street from the sleepless youths celebrating late at night interfered with our sleep. This is no reflection on the hotel, […] only on our own desire to sleep with the old fashioned casement windows open to the delicious cool breeze. Next time we will try to get a room on the top floor. The area's restaurants and shops were delightful. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Charming hotel with lots of character"
This hotel is in a great location in Flagstaff's historic centre. It's not fancy - the rooms and decor are abut old and worn - but it has loads of character. The bar downstairs is a local hangout and was buzzing even on the Monday and Tuesday nights we spent there. A charming hotel in a charming town.Genuine Expedia guest review
The location was great. It was very clean. The room was cooled by a small window unit. The rooms need a better air conditioning system.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Love the outside, downstairs, hustle bustle of the night crowd, music, and laughing. Beautiful lobby and helpful service. The hotel is very charming! However, our room overlooked the roof and we didn't have any blinds for the windows. The other window which overlooked down down, had the air conditioner rigged into it and it wasn't done very well. We arrived at 3:30am, 6 1/2 hours later than planned because of a late train. We walked from the Amtrak station to the hotel - very easily done. "Fun Hotel with Character"
Older hotel so comes with character in each room! There was a confusion with the booking (with hotels.com) and at first we just had 1 queen but after talking with staff they changed to 2 queens within minutes. Easy walking to fun boutiques and restaurants!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Location is great. Window unit A/C not adequate and room was very hot. Had contact with 2 front desk staff and the Starbuck's attendant. All 3 seemed to hate their jobs and it showed. The hotel really 'plays-up' their ghost history (online) but staff showed little enthusiasm when asked about specifics. Would not stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Most convenient location in town."

"For being a very old hotel, it was very charming"
We had a great stay here. It's in a great part of the city within walking distance to many restaurants, bars, and shopping. The hotel is very old, but it is charming and has a lot of character. The coffee shop and bar downstairs are great and have delicious drinks. We stayed in the summer so mobility was probably easier than winter. "Old and very small"
It is a nice location. But the room was very small. There was no blinds on one of the two windows, not good when the sun comes up at 5am! Mold in the tub! Would […] not recommend! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
There are some great aspects to this hotel. And some not so great. The lobby and bar are very attractive. Our room was spacious but had no a.c. It was warm but we had to close the window because the noise from street level was very loud. Our tiny bathroom was remodeled with crazy fixtures. The sink was the size of an airplane sink yet it had a hugely […] oversized faucet. Just washing your face left a puddle on the floor. "Worth the experience"
My husband and I have wanted to stay at this historic and "haunted" hotel for a few years now, and the time finally arrived. We were given room 220, which is said to be the most haunted room at the hotel. The room had a king bed and a small bathroom. We joked that we felt like we were in Europe, again. It has all your basic amenities and is in walking […] distance to everything downtown. I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little spooked about being in the most haunted room, and I did have a nightmare that a female ghost was standing at the side of my bed. It is an old hotel, and doesn't have a lot of upgrades, but overall it was worth the experience. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
