"A favorite in Berlin"
03/03/14 Gunilla U Uppsala
This is a very interesting place to stay if you want to avoid big hotels and hotelchains. Pension Dittberner is very charmful: you feel like you stay in the home of some very nice german ladies. It is a huge flat in an old house at a small street (Wielandstrasse) very close to Kurfurstendamm. Perfect location - there is a direct bus (109) from the Tegel airport and very good bus, S- and U-bahn connections to any place you want to go to in Berlin. The room we stayed in (no33) was lovely: huge, nicely furnitured all in white, and very quiet. A nice bathroom with a big bathtube. Free WiFi. There is no fridge in the room, but you have access to a fridge in the breakfast room where can buy beer or wine to a decent price. The elevator in the house is quite an experience. Next door there is a very nice spanish restaurant (la Caleta).
"Excellent location, comfortable and beautifully decorated"

Very close to the Ku'damm and in a peaceful residential neighbourhood, this Pension is close to several bus routes, including route 109 from Tegel airport (get off at Adenauerplatz, it's about 5 minutes walk to the Pension). The pension is beautifully decorated with numerous art works. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. Service was good throughout our 4-night stay, and the breakfasts were plentiful. Breakfast is served in a beautiful room, and includes cereal, fruit, cold meats, cheese, egg and a variety of breads and jams. We strongly recommend this hotel and would definitely return if we visit Berlin again.
"Quirky in a great location"

We stayed 4 nights and were made very welcome by the owner who has run the hotel for decades. We had a huge room, breakfasts were good and the hotel is in a great location with excellent transportation close by. Quirky and arty !

This hotel was completely different from where we usually stay in that it was a small Pension located on the fourth floor of a multi-use building. The room was of a good size and nicely decorated with a lovely big bed; we wanted extra pillows and these were provided without any trouble. The room had a seating area and a small tv. The bathroom was a good size and beautifully tiled, although the sink was a little small and there's never enough shelf space for me! The continental breakfast was very good and served in a lovely bright room. We found the staff friendly and helpful. The Dittberner is well located in a quiet area of Berlin just off the Kurfurstendamm and about 10 minutes from the U bahn. The entrance to the Pension is shared and as such is a bit dreary but the old caged lift is a real experience and makes you feel as if you have experienced old Berlin, at the turn of the 20th century.
"Comfortable rooms, great location"

We stayed at the Hotel Pension Dittberner for 3 nights. We had 3 rooms for the 5 of us, two doubles and a single. The single was quite small but that wasn't a problem for us. Both doubles were roomy, and each room had a tiny television. Breakfast is served in a lovely dining room and is a nice variety and delicious. Staff is friendly and helpful. The area near the hotel is quite upscale with many restaurants and lots of shopping. Public transportation is close and easy to use.
"Out of the ordinary"

We loved the atmosphere! The hotel was like one of the sights on the trip. The breakfast was good and the breakfast room was awesome! The room was clean and spacious with large windows and a well-lighted bathroom. The elevator in the house was like a hundred years old - something one must definitely see!
"A slice of Alt Berlin at this fabulous West Berlin Pension"

Travel back to Alt Berlin at Frau Lange's beautiful pension. Service was great and the pension tastefully decorated with modern and classical art pieces. The rooms were large, warm and elegantly furnished. The beds comfy and the bathroom large. The pension is located just off Kurfensdamm Strasse in an upmarket part of West Berlin about a 12 minute walk to the Savignyplatz S Bahn. Staying in this location enables you to see a part of Berlin (both socially and architecturally) you wouldn't really have reason to see if you stayed in East Berlin/Mitte. Would definitely recommend.

To stay here is like visiting an old, incredible rich aunt. This is aqtually two enormous apartements joined together. Art on the walls, thick carpets and lovely owner Frau Lange. Bit I couldnt really relax...Felt like she would call my mother if I came back late.
"A fine hotel, but some minor flaws"

Overall, I think this is a fine hotel, although there are some things to improve. We arrived quite late, so it was dark, and the light in the entrance hall was switched off, so I first had to find the switch to put the light on. After a while, the personnel showed us our room, which was nice and clean. The bathroom was good too, but is was a bit small. The TV too was small, but it had many channels on it. The breakfast we had the next day was good, although it was very quiet. I don't have any problems with it being quiet, but some music in the background would certainly be nice. We were in the city for most of the day, and we got back at the hotel in the evening. That night, we wanted to sleep, but in the building next to the hotel, there were people playing loud music throughout most of the night. I know that it's hard for the personnel to do something about this, but I think it's still worth a mention. The next day, we would take a plane back home, and we were allowed to stay in the room until midday. However, when we booked the room, we also sent an e-mail to the hotel in which we asked if we could get back to our room at about 4.00pm, just to take a shower etc., and they told us that that wouldn't be a problem, and we wouldn't have to pay more. The night before we went back I asked the personnel again, just to be sure, but then suddenly they told us we had to pay more. Checking out was easy, so we could easily get to Tegel Airport, and get back home.
"Nice, area is very quiet"

Hotel is nice, maybe not quiet 4 star but good value for money. rooms are very clean, comfortable and not too small. Breakfast is probably not worth it - nicer cafes around. Location great for Ku'dam, although that is now a much quiter area than the main parts of Berlin. For going out to sightseeing and in the evenings you have to take a S-bahn, station is about 10min walk from hotel ,jouney to most places of interest take around 15/20 min but trains run all night and the excellent 7 day travel tickets make it very simple.
