"nice B & B"
Location was out of town and a little hard to find since Waterford doesn't have house numbers!! Everything was excellent except that it was HOT when we were there. They have no AC (which I can understand since they rarely need it) but they did not have any fans either. I do think they should have fans just in case. Otherwise, a great stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
Best breakfeast of our trip. Susan and Dez were wonderful hosts. Views from this B and B are wonderful. Rooms were very spacious and clean, and in a nice quite location not far from town.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice B & B, great food, quiet & clean"
We enjoyed our stay at Samuel's Heritage Bed & Breakfast, rooms were spacious, nice view of Waterford, real quiet. Wished all places were like this. I would highly recommend. Also, food was great. Very fresh.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Overall, great B & B"
Overall, we really enjoyed this B&B. We stayed here as part of our honeymoon trip, and the owner was kind enough to get us a card and upgrade our room. What a nice surprise! She was also very helpful in making us a dinner reservation. The only thing that I would say wasn't quite what we were hoping for was that there were several bottles of half used […] toiletries (body wash) in the bathroom, which was a bit off-putting. This may be an effort to conserve and all that towards sustainability, but I just feel that each guest should get fresh "individual bottles" of body wash, etc. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great place to stay just outside of Waterford"
This was a lovely place to stay. The room was very big and comfortable. The breakfast they offered was wonderful and somewhat 'cooked to order' too which is fantastic! Susan and Desmond were so cheerfully and talkative and had plenty of information to give us. They had recommended one of the oldest bars to get food at just down the street from the B&B […] and it was great. It was one of our best nights on our trip to Ireland. If you don't want to stay in Waterford and be outside of some of the traffic, this is a perfect spot with a great view of the town too! We would highly recommend this place! "Wonderful in Waterford"
My daughters and I enjoyed our stay at this B&B! We were greeted by Des, who first made a dinner arrangement for us and then served us tea and refreshments before we went out for the night. We enjoyed the restaurant that was recommended and found that Des was very knowledgeable of all that Waterford has to offer it's visitors. Our room was very clean, […] nicely decorated and the beds were the most comfortable of any on our trip. We enjoyed the free Wi-Fi as that was our only way of communicating with family in the U.S.A. Breakfast the next day was served by Susan and Des who are very pleasant and friendly. The servings were very healthy and breakfast was very good. It is apparent that Susan and Des love what they do. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend the Samuel Heritage Bed and Breakfast wholeheartedly! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great B&B with a fabulous breakfast!"
What a great B&B, just outside of city centre, shame we only stayed for 1 night. Susan and Des very welcoming, gave good tips about places to eat. Stayed in a really nice, large room with comfortable beds and plenty of toiletries. A fabulous breakfast from fresh fruit, yogurt, freshly squeezed orange juice and, smoked salmon, lovely freshly baked scones […] and to a full Irish!! A great find and worth staying here, peaceful and quiet overlooking the river. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Best B&B of our stay in Ireland!"
01/18/15 Caroline K
My Dad and I went on a week long trip to Ireland, traveling all around the country, each night staying in a different B&B. Samuel's Heritage was by far the best one. It was tucked away a bit up on a hill, providing a beautiful view of the town of Waterford (including part of the Waterford Castle!) Desmond and Susan have recently added on to thier home, which provides guests with an excellent room--very clean, with all the ammentities you could want. (Including a "hang out room stocked with Ireland guides, magazines, a microwave etc) and a little gym room! This all made it almost like staying in a hotel for a much better price, yet it still had the homey feel of a B&B due to their hospitality. They really do seek to please, are so warm hearted and generous. They give great tips as far as your travels and seem to truly care and want the best for each customer! I can't wait to come back and stay!
"A little dissapointed"

We were very excited about our stay at Samuel's but that was all but blown away in our first encounter at the B&B. We arrived a little early (2.00pm) to ask if we could drop off our things before heading into town and then do the check in when we returned later. We were greeted with a less than enthusiastic response about the inconvenience of arriving "so early" but were then led to our room which was ready anyway. At this point the owner then launched into a rant about the fact that we had booked through a third party. "So, how is that working out for you ???" It was very intimidating, also considering I always book in B&B's, and I always book directly though the property and only through third parties if the property itself shows no availability, it was misdirected and uncalled for. I am not sure what the "Heritage" in the name applies to as it has the feel of a quite new house with a a few extra rooms built onto the side. The rooms were large and clean, plenty of close parking and no stairs to climb or lug luggage. The breakfast was nice but the icing on the cake was no hot water in the room when we went for our showers in the morning. It seemed as though this was a known problem and was merely a minor issue to them. It was not to us as we usually expect a working shower or bath when we pay reasonable money. I had to voice my feelings before they agreed to a token discount off the bill. Perhaps an offer to use a shower in one of the other unused rooms might have been nice but that might have been inconvenient having to clean an unused bathroom. B&B is a fair way out of town which is nice if it offers something special, but this just felt like staying in someones back room.

After driving all day this was a welcome stop. We were welcomed by Susan, shown our room and immediately offered refreshments. This B&B being located outside of (but close to) Waterford is a nice feature with a wonderful view and a quiet night. As Susan pointed out, she was there before GPS, so actually having signs to your location was a great benefit to a driver used to hearing a mechanical GPS voice telling me when/where to turn. These are new or recently renovated rooms that are spacious with (for Ireland) huge bathrooms/showers. Breakfast was great with service equaling any restaurant. While a wonderful overall experience, becoming too much like a hotel takes away from the B&B experience.
"Samuels Heritage B&B"
10/25/14 TBreez Oconomowoc, Wisconsin
The Samuel Heritage B&B is located within a 10 minute drive to downtown Waterford. The host of this B&B were delightful. Accommodations were very well stated as well as the morning breakfasts. Location of B&B made it very excusable to many of the fine restaurants and attractions Waterford has to offer.
"Clean, comfortable, and above all ... quiet"
10/19/14 TheWolfMann Ottawa, Canada
The name Samuel's Heritage might lead you to believe that this is an ancient manor house modernized with 19th century plumbing. Nothing of the sort. Samuel's Heritage is in reality a boutique hotel, with specious rooms and the best equipped bathrooms we encountered in our three weeks in Ireland. Loved the shower. The property is on a gentle hillside, about 500 m. off the highway, making it quiet and secluded. In fact, when we returned to our room after dinner at a quaint local pub (more about that later) we tip-toed down the hall so as not to disturb the other guests. Our room was on the uphill side of the property and was exceptionally quiet, the only sounds being some chickens and cows in the distance who got up earlier than we did. On the other side of the property the rooms have a pretty view of the rolling hills, but also overlook the parking lot, and might not be as quiet. Breakfast was superb. Susan presented us with a menu, but that was really just for inspiration, as she and Desmond will prepare anything you like. After 18 days of "full Irish" breakfasts offered everywhere you go, poached eggs on whole wheat toast, with no fried blood pudding was a welcome treat. The B&B is about 15 km out of Waterford, but if you're looking for a local spot for dinner and a pint, ask Susan about the local pub, about 5 minutes drive East. It's just like you would see in the movies. The entrance is slightly below grade, and as you pass through a dimply lit vestibule you can hear muffled voices, music and laughter behind a solid, but low wood door--the kind you would expect in a leprechaun's dwelling. Upon opening the door we were almost blown away by the festive atmosphere. There were children who had been in some kind of dance performance or baptism celebration, along with their parents, almost filling the low-ceiling room, but they moved aside to let us squeeze in. Standing beside the bar were locals, Guiness in hand, discussing everything from football to tractors--in English and Gaelic. Thanks again, Susan, for telling us about this place. No place is perfect, and there were some shortcomings. Mrs WM reported that her bed wasn't level and she didn't get the best night's sleep. At breakfast our place mats had not been wiped clean. Booking the room was an experience. Like many tourists, we used an Internet search engine to see what kinds of B&Bs were available, and then telephoned to make a reservation. This manner of booking saves the owner the commission taken by the Internet travel agencies. Samuel's B&B did not answer the phone, with a voice message referral to another number which also was not answered. In exasperation, we booked through Expedia, but upon arrival the first thing we were treated to was not tea and scones, but a harangue from Susan about her having to pay the 15% commission. We still give this property a 5 rating because it was about as good as they get. We have not experienced a better B&B anywhere else.

After showing us our room Susan made us feel very welcome by asking whether we would like some refreshments. We were served tea and homemade cakes. The room with a dedicated disabled bathroom was very suitable for our needs. We had a peaceful and comfortable sleep. The breakfast was excellent. Susan and Desmond were great hosts.

Everything was perfect. Great location. The room was perfect. The breakfasts were "to die for". The greetings were friendly and we felt right away at home. Susan's energy and Desmond great suggestions completed a fantastic stay at Samuel's Heritage.
"Best B&B out of our 10 day Travels"
09/28/14 Ron M Omaha, Nebraska
This B&B had great communication leading up to our travels. When we arrived, all rooms were on the main floor, which by the end of our trip underestimated. While the B&B is a hair outside of town, it sits on the road that gives you a straight shot. If you want to have cocktails and want to take a cab, it will only be 12 euros and the cab drivers seem to be hospitable as well. We arrived a little a head of check in, but that didn't deter the hosts from quickly welcoming us and getting us situated. The rooms were incredible, clean, and the beds offered a great night sleep. When we told them of the brush off we received from the Harley Davidson store and the fact they were out of some sizes of shirts we needed, they were prepared to go into town the right our wrong...too funny. This is a must stay at if you get to the area. Book early...as with the ratings they receive I am sure they fill up fast.
"Fine location for a relaxing stay"
09/26/14 tripbayliff London, UK.
Despite arriving late after a long day's driving, Susan made us most welcome with tea and freshly-cooked cake. We had a comfortable ground-floor room with great ensuite, ideal for my disabled wife. It was well worth the drive just outside Waterford for this idyllic, peaceful location with superb views over-looking the river. Breakfast was also very good, with freshly-prepared local produce, and Susan made sure that we had everything that we could wish for. We could easily have had a week's relaxed holiday here but sadly we only had time for one night. I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone wishing to stay in the Waterford area.

Susan and Des are the most welcoming people I have met in the hospitality industry and she is big on customer services. She could do more for us. We stay there for two nights with one night away at a fancy hotel close by for a wedding and I had wished that I had stayed in the B&B for the three nights. The breakfast was beautiful, scones and loads of different cereals to start with and then a cooked breakfast with sausages that had meat in them (I'm very picky about sausages) and eggs cooked what ever way you want them and they were fresh. I'm guessing they can from her hens that are in the back. There was no rush on when we were to check out as we had the wedding Susan wanted us to have plenty of time to get ready which we really appreciated. The bed was so big and comfortable, the only downside was my pillow was a bit flat but there was spare ones available so no big deal there. The bathroom had plenty of light and the shower head was a rain head but if you didn't want to wash your hair there was a small lower down shower head at the perfect height for my small stature. If you don't want to head out for the night or sit in your room there is a small lounge with tea/coffee making facilities that you can avail of and a small gym with sauna if you feeling energetic. I spend a lot of time in Waterford and usually stay in the city but I will be staying with Susan and Des and get a taxi into the city instead. Much nicer than any of the hotels I've stayed in the city.
