"Lovely B&B with great breakfast and free parking"
Stayed here for 1 night and it was great. The room was very spacious and comfortable and bathroom very modern and updated. We had some trouble finding the place as we arrived late but the owners were very helpful and made us feel welcomed. They even made us some tea and biscuits! Breakfast in the morning was wonderful and everything was made fresh. Although the hotel is a bit outside the city, parking is free. I would highly recommend staying here!

"Top place!!"
This was our favorite spot! Des and Sue hit the jackpot with their property on the little hill that overlooks the town of Waterford, including part of the Waterford castle. They recently rennovated part of their home four years ago so that it is like staying in a VERY nice hotel, but the bed and breakfast comfort/feel. They were incredibly hospitable (even went on a late night ice cream run per my Dad's request--he never intended they go to buy something, just if they already had it; but they insisted because they "really wanted to please!") They even had an exercise room, a little place where you could go do work/read (a pleathera of Irish guides and what not), great recommendations for the town, care about their clients, just really wonderful people!

"nice B & B"
Location was out of town and a little hard to find since Waterford doesn't have house numbers!! Everything was excellent except that it was HOT when we were there. They have no AC (which I can understand since they rarely need it) but they did not have any fans either. I do think they should have fans just in case. Otherwise, a great stay.

"Overall, great B & B"
Overall, we really enjoyed this B&B. We stayed here as part of our honeymoon trip, and the owner was kind enough to get us a card and upgrade our room. What a nice surprise! She was also very helpful in making us a dinner reservation. The only thing that I would say wasn't quite what we were hoping for was that there were several bottles of half used toiletries (body wash) in the bathroom, which was a bit off-putting. This may be an effort to conserve and all that towards sustainability, but I just feel that each guest should get fresh "individual bottles" of body wash, etc.
Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Samuel's Heritage Bed & Breakfast
Thanks for taking time to review Samuel's Heritage B&B and we appreciate your comments re. individual toiletries - we have since taken to purchase branded full size bottles so that our guests don't feel that someone else has half used the product before them - this seems to be a good workable compromise, still staying sustainable and also haviing a better quality product to offer for our guests. We always enjoy when our guests tell us when they celebrate something special as we want to treat them to a little gift to remember their trip and us by.

"Great place to stay just outside of Waterford"
This was a lovely place to stay. The room was very big and comfortable. The breakfast they offered was wonderful and somewhat 'cooked to order' too which is fantastic! Susan and Desmond were so cheerfully and talkative and had plenty of information to give us. They had recommended one of the oldest bars to get food at just down the street from the B&B and it was great. It was one of our best nights on our trip to Ireland. If you don't want to stay in Waterford and be outside of some of the traffic, this is a perfect spot with a great view of the town too! We would highly recommend this place!

"Wonderful in Waterford"
My daughters and I enjoyed our stay at this B&B! We were greeted by Des, who first made a dinner arrangement for us and then served us tea and refreshments before we went out for the night. We enjoyed the restaurant that was recommended and found that Des was very knowledgeable of all that Waterford has to offer it's visitors. Our room was very clean, nicely decorated and the beds were the most comfortable of any on our trip. We enjoyed the free Wi-Fi as that was our only way of communicating with family in the U.S.A. Breakfast the next day was served by Susan and Des who are very pleasant and friendly. The servings were very healthy and breakfast was very good. It is apparent that Susan and Des love what they do. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend the Samuel Heritage Bed and Breakfast wholeheartedly!

Thank you Kimberlwey and daughters for your kind and very comprehensive review . Good to hear you enjoyed your stay with us. Yes indeed Des loves his local history and in his spare time is a welcome ambassador volunteer in the city helping out visitors to Waterford in finding places to eat stay or assisting them with any questions that they have. Regarding breakfast we do pride ourselves to buy and stay local and sustainable - we have our own hens who lay the eggs for Breakfast and a friend, Mr. B., whose beehives on our land provide us with lovely honey. Looking forward to welcome you your family and friends again in the future.

I stayed in the area with a view to buying a property locally and both Susan and Desmond could not have been be more helpful, in giving me advice on the locality and even introduced me to an Estate Agent, who is still looking at properties for me. The food was excellent and the rooms could not have been more comfortable. It's location was also very convenient to my needs. I would recommend this Hotel to anyone wishing to stay in the Waterford locality and will probably be going back there myself, to continue my property search, in the near future. Thank you Susan and Des.

"A Pity we didn't have more time to stay."
We chose this accommodation on spec based on reviews we'd read on the internet, and they prooved well founded. Susan and Des were very friendly and helpful hosts. The rooms are large and comfortable. There's a small gym and sauna, which I didn't have time to use and a great lounge with views over to Waterford. Breakfast good Irish fair with excellent homemade bread. If we'd had more time it would have been nice to stay another night.

"Great B&B with a fabulous breakfast!"
What a great B&B, just outside of city centre, shame we only stayed for 1 night. Susan and Des very welcoming, gave good tips about places to eat. Stayed in a really nice, large room with comfortable beds and plenty of toiletries. A fabulous breakfast from fresh fruit, yogurt, freshly squeezed orange juice and, smoked salmon, lovely freshly baked scones and to a full Irish!! A great find and worth staying here, peaceful and quiet overlooking the river.

Susan and Des were so welcoming from the minute I arrived at the B&B until the moment I left. The room was just as nice, if not better, than the four star hotel I had stayed in the night before. The breakfast was delicious with a fantastic spread of fruit and cereals, home made scones and a very tasty hot menu!

Stayed here 3 nights during our 10 day trip, and while the facilities do not have a homey feel, they are open, light, comfortable and the view is beautiful. Breakfast was filling, with some variety on the 'full irish' available. Was able to get some laundry done here too. Lots of tourist info materials available for the taking.

My husband and I arrived at this b&b on a Sunday night. I was really impressed with the long drive way, and having marked parking spaces for guests as well as plenty of room for making u-turns. The location of this b&b is on the outer rim of the city, which was perfect - not too close to the busy city center, but close enough to everything. We were greeted by a nice young girl, I assumed she's the daughter of the owners (I could be wrong?). She showed us our room right away - huge! The entire house is quiet modern, and I personally love it. They even have a mini gym and infer red room! We had a little trouble with the wifi, but it was not a big deal since we didn't want to be bothered by the outside world anyways. We then went to 'explore' the rest of the house, such as the sitting room and the dining area. They had many board/card games there to occupied the kids while parents watch TV in the sitting room. That's where we met Susan, because she was bringing a bowl of pasta for a boy for dinner whom was also in the sitting room with us. And I thought to myself "what a nice host!" We thought they probably have some empty room because we didn't hear anything from the hallway nor the next room. The next morning, we had breakfast made by Des. Interestingly enough, he was the only guy chef we've had at all b&bs we stayed, and Susan was the one cleaning, making sure everything was all right with everyone in the dining room. He made the best scramble eggs!! And we couldn't believe how many people they had in the house, there were at least 10 people, and we did NOT hear anything at all. My husband thought they must have had done some sort of sound proofing. After breakfast, we were talking to Des and he explained where Samuel's heritage came about and the stories behind every pictures hung outside of the dining room. My husband and I were so inspired by their togetherness of 25 years of marriage as this trip was our honeymoon. Susan gave us a real shamrock memory card, which I thought is the cutest thing ever. We were generally happy with both Samuel's heritage. We would love to go back and visit them if we travel to Ireland again. Pictures are our bedroom - green color theme, hall way, and bathroom.

"It was so special!"

We came to Waterford from the uk & stayed the 8th June for five nights, my baby granddaughter my daughter & myself, so that my parents could meet their great granddaughter, made all the more special by staying with Sue & Des at their lovely B&B! they are wonderful hosts, our room was spotlessly clean, large & well equipped with the travel cot as requested, with extras such as toiletries, make up remover cotton pads ect,a top tasty breakfast being a qualified chef I know a great cooked breakfast when I eat one ( so I had the full Irish every day I could not resist!) served on pretty China wear. On the day we checked out earlier at breakfast sue had asked us our plans before we flew home, despite being full of other guests and very busy it was noted as imagine my surprise when in the hotel in Waterford City where I had said I would be having lunch a member of the hotel staff came over & informed me I had left my phone at Samuels of which I had not noticed, furthermore Sue had been in touch with my partner in the uk to inform him that if we were not where we said we would be & she could not track us down, she would drop it at the airport! On a day that sue & des were off on holiday themselves! Now that's special,a brilliant stay & I will be returning again later in the year why would I go anywhere else? Forgot to mention the stunning views perfect as I was in the city each day & wanted some tranquility when we came back each night it was amazing to see Waterford as I have never done before Having stayed many times in Waterford over the last twenty years or so.also guest lounge with fridge & microwave for your use! Thank you again for a simply wonderful & stress free stay( hope you had a lovely cruise )

"Other reviews notwithstanding . . ."
07/19/15 Dallasuze Dallas, Texas
Short story - I would not stay here again. I'll provide the long story via a summary of the pros and cons, and unfortunately, the cons outweighed the pros for me. First, the pros: this B&B is in a much quieter setting than one would get in the center of town, which can be lovely after a busy day of touring. The very large rooms help avoid that tripping-over-each-other feel that can develop on a longer holiday. There was ample storage for clothing in the closet and drawers. The wifi, for making necessary checks of email and travel arrangements down the road, was not as dependable as one would want but for as little as we needed it, was okay. There is a beautiful view from the parking area. Now for the cons: The rooms had a somewhat stark look and feel if you're not into 70s-ish modern hotel furnishings and a lone piece of wall decor bolted to the wall - it just wasn't particularly cozy-feeling. One of our children found hair in the bed when first turning it down - although one hopes it was clean and merely stuck in the laundry, it was not appealing, and obvious enough that whoever had made the bed should have seen and removed it. The towels were way past their prime - dingy, with holes and obvious stains (see photo below). There was also rust on some of the shower fixtures (see photo below). Cleanliness was an overall problem; in addition to the dirty-appearing towels, there was obvious mold in our shower (see photo below; they tried to claim it was staining, but it was clearly not, and could be at least partially wiped off with only a tissue). At breakfast, not all the dishes and utensils were completely clean (and no, we're not talking about mere water spotting - there were fingerprints, smudges, and grit), and the cereal containers had seen quite a bit of time pass since their last thorough cleaning. We brought one or two issues to their attention during our stay, but one reaches a point where it is uncomfortable to continue, especially when the owners try to claim that something (mold, for instance) isn't what it obviously is, and/or try to get you to agree with them that a problem isn't a problem. They were good enough to give us a slight discount to ameliorate having a sewage smell in our room one evening, but I'd have preferred just a clean bedroom, bath, and breakfast.

"Absolute Best B&B of Our Trip!"
07/12/15 Sojourner6 Dallas, Texas
I can't sing enough praises of Samuel's Heritage! It's a charming little (big inside!) B&B with very friendly hosts. I can't believe it was so affordable when each bedroom was so big! Our showers were the best of our entire stay in Ireland, and our room was nicely appointed and very restful. Breakfast the next morning was practically a feast! The views from the front are incredible--all of Waterford and the surrounding area is laid out before you. Susan was a really lovely host, and we had the opportunity to chat with a few other guests; everyone seemed happy. If I could stay anywhere in Ireland again, Samuel's Heritage would be first on my list!

"A Home away from home! Perfect hosts, ideal location, beautiful setting and extremely comfortable"
07/06/15 Sarah F Dublin, Ireland
The superbly comfortable Samuel's Heritage has become a home away from home whilst my business brought me to Waterford. It is situated within close proximity to Waterford city in a most picturesque, serene setting boasting beautiful views of the countryside and lakes. Having stayed 5 nights a week for the last 12 months, I would highly recommend it. Firstly, Susan and Des (and their friendly children) are the perfect hosts. Always friendly with a warm welcome, they are also fantastic cooks-the breakfast is reminiscent of that of a 5 star hotel- seasonal fresh fruit, organic yoghurt, fresh juices and variety of cooked options (e.g. full Irish, smoked salmon and eggs etc) all utilising high quality and local ingredients. Susan's home-made scones are a personal favourite! The key to this successful business, in my opinion, is the consistency. The hosts, the food, the cleanliness, the house keeping have been consistently of a high standard over the past 12 months. The rooms are spacious, modern (including wifi, tv, hair dryer, large comfortable beds etc) and it is clear hygiene is of paramount importance to Susan and Des, as is customer comfort and satisfaction. They welcome any suggestions and it is evident that they strive to maintain their high standards and great reputation. The fitness room and sauna are a highlight for me personally, as a business person who stays in the area 5 nights a week, having a fitness facility within my accommodation is a huge bonus; for both logistic and financial reasons. I cannot recommend this gem of a guest house more highly. The hosts have certainly found their vocation and endeavour to ensure you're stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
