"Clean, safe, comfortable, and actually Cambodian."
We were looking for a clean, comfortable hotel that still felt like it was in Cambodia for our first couple nights in the country, and Okay Guesthouse was perfect. Those fancypants hotels could be anywhere, and the money rarely stays in the country, so places like this are ethically better. That being said, on our last night before leaving we went for […] a "nice" one, and agreed that Okay Guesthouse was better. (If you do opt for a fancypants place, we stopped by the Okay Boutique, this place's sister hotel, and it looked absolutely gorgeous, and the staff were incredibly nice, just as they were at the Guesthouse.) We didn't realize until later that they'd given us probably the worst room in the hotel, but it was still good by us. (But we're backpackers. If you need 70,000 sheets you should stay somewhere else.) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"You get what you pay for"
This is a hotel that slides right into the "you get what you pay for" group. Rooms are big but shabby, the staff helpful if you buy services from them. Overrated restaurant, the one next door has better food and cheaper prices. Recommended if you just need a place to sleep and nothing else.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very kind staff"
You're going to hear over and over again how this place is "okay." Aptly named, sure, but while the mattress may be a bit lumpy, the staff are a lovely family who are incredibly kind. Good food, decent vibe, and great location. Not the FCC or the Himawari, sure, but great for a night or two before you head to Siem Riep.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was dingy, the mattress was pretty old and uncomfortable , and there was a lengthy warning written on the wall regarding the dangers of bringing an escort back (amongst other things). For the cheap price, it was just okay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best guesthouse in Phnom Penh!"
We love Okay Guesthouse. This was our second stay here and the staff were so friendly to welcome us back. They always go above and beyond and the food is delicious!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Value for money hotel near the palace"
Very near to the palace. Room was good but I asked for a room in ground floor but not provided. The steps are too narrow but it is absolutely worth the money. The staff were nice.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel with very good staff"
This hotel is just near river front which is actually not very great to visit. The hotel staff provided (picked us) to some halal restaurant and provided us a tour which is actually more expensive than the others. Somehow, I love the staff here, they are very polite.Genuine Expedia guest review

Fine...you get what you pay for.....a cheap place to stay, reception doubles as the restaurant, bit cramped, but you get to meet others...reception can also sort trips, travel and visas.......Genuine Expedia guest review
"Lives up to its name"
Our stay at Okay Guesthouse was just that- Okay. The room we got was not like the pictures (though we did see a couple with their doors open that were closer) it was basically big enough for just the bed which seemed a bit dirty, the bathroom was SO tiny, like a 1.5 x 3 foot area, so you have to climb up beside the toilet to close the door if you want […] to shower or wash your hands. Bathroom also appeared dirty, it had the last persons tooth brush and soap in it. But the shower did have great temperature and actually got hot. Wifi would make you re-sign in everytime my phone screen turned off. Had breakfast there one morning and it was ok but tables and very crowded in there. Ate next door every other meal (same same hostel). Tried to book a bus to siem reap at reception since they advertise that they do that and the woman was grumpy and didn't try very hard to contact the companies. Ended up going next door for that too and the owner there called until he got us a seat on a bus. The area is decent though, close to the palace which is cool, not close to tons more from what I could tell. Wouldn't choose this place again but it wasn't the worst place in the world either. "Standard, clean, good location."
For how much we paid, this was a great place to stay! The rooms were simple, but clean. The staff was great, always ready to help or answer questions. The location is fairly good as well, only about a 15 minute walk to the Palace or Victory monument. There are lots of restaurants in the area, and the guesthouse has a restaurant too. There is no pool, […] but for 4$ you can use the pool at the hotel down the street, 4$ includes a drink too. Overall we were very happy with our stay and would definitely stay there again. "Average hotel but great location"
Overall OKAY Guesthouse is as its namesake suggest, an okay experience. The primary advantage is the great location offered by this place, very near the Royal Palace and main riverfront. The customer service was passable, although not great. The room was much smaller than I had anticipated and I wasn't expecting much given some of the previous reviews. […] But you get what you pay for and as I was only staying 2 nights, it was an passable experience. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Really good guest house with good location. Don't expect this to be a fancy hotel or anything but excellent choice for a budget travelling!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The guesthouse is ey okey. Short walking distance to riverside, friendly tuk tuk drivers outside get you whereever you want to go. The stay does not include bottle of water as it says on hotels.com. The ceiling fan is so good, you dont need ac.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Meu quarto ficava no terceiro […] andar.

Had a very nice stay there! Rooms are good and clean. The staff really puts effort into making your stay there a pleasant experience. Location is very good, close to Royal Palace and Riverside. Definitely would recommend!

We had a friendly welcome at the Okay Guesthouse. For $16 we had a large room with a fan and a fridge (double plus single bed). Our room was spacious and light, (but some other double rooms on the same floor were small and dark). The ensuite bathroom could have done with some fresh tiling and fittings but was OK. The promised pick-up from the bus station didn't arrive, and they couldn't compensate us with another tuk tuk journey. The wifi system was also down while we were there. Nice leafy restaurant area at the front. Overall, an OK place to stay, and helpful staff.

i booked for 3 nights before going off to do volunteer work, travelling for the first time on my own I was worried very much about being ripped off. It was more expensive than I had planned though for a 'deluxe' type room with my own bathroom. I really didn't want to stay in a hostel... It cost me $18 per night. The food in the guesthouse is fantastic particularly the curries and the staff are so extremely courteous and accommodating. I was fairly clueless about prices for tuk tuk etc to go to the killing fields and their resident driver quoted me $16 to go to s21 then the genocide museum and back which when I googled it is exactly what people had been quoted which made me very happy :) I really love this place, it is service with a smile. Only downside is the bed is as hard as a rock though I still had some really decent zzzzzzs
"Just normal. For sleeping overnight. But the foods are marvelous"

Booked a 4 beds room which is located at the 4th floor of the guest house. 2 of my friends fell down when going down the staircase as it is soo narrow and stiff because they have optimize their spaces for rooms. Inside the room, it is lacking of a few basic necessary needs. No cloth hanger, no mirror in the toilet, and the curtain is not enough to cover the window. Mattress is soft and blankets are thin and small. But overall it is still acceptable. In additions, their overall services are good. Receptionist is friendly and they will help you in all way. The only bad is when I asked for hot water, they are unable to provide for me. We have our lunch in the guest house on our last night, surprisingly it is so delicious compare to foods on the street. Foods we've ordered are all local foods, where we didn't try their western food yet.
"So friendly, nice rooms, delicious food"

We booked for a couple of nights but stayed for a week, and if we do come back through Phnom Penh then we will definitely head back here again. It was a little more expensive than some places, but I think they also have cheaper rooms available. Our room was up some steep and narrow steps and along a thin corridor. It was a good size and very clean, with good shower. It was a little dark in the morning as the window faced straight onto another building, but I presume other rooms have views if that is important. Maybe check the room first. Downstairs is a restaurant area which does really delicious food at a good price. A lot of people smoke there though, so it is a problem for non-smokers to avoid the fumes while eating. But the waiters are super friendly, with limited English but good humour, and they taught us some Khmer. The reception staff are also extremely helpful, most speaking very good or perfect English. They can book tours and tickets, get you a good tuk tuk driver at a fair price, etc... The location is also excellent. It is right near the river and Sisowath Quay, the Royal Palace, etc. Opposite is the Flicks for movies. There are lots of other restaurants on the same street though I did not try them. A basic supermarket is round the corner by the river. For further destinations they can get you a tuktuk or Poly can take you in his own tuk tuk and has lots of suggestions for trips. Wifi is good but you have to sign in every thirty minutes or an hour or so. If you need a computer then there are a few other guesthouses that let you use their internet on the same street.
"Not bad, but not all that good either"
01/20/15 Brent H
I found the building to not be in great repair. My bed did not have a top sheet and the mattress cover was badly stained. Most of the staff spoke very little English and those who did seemed generally uninterested in helping with any questions or requests. Location is good. Security seems ok - I had a private room, but access to the property is not controlled. I probably would not stay here again.
"Nice stay narrow and small rooms but good wifi!"

Nice little guesthouse! The food downstairs was alright and not to pricey. Room was fine and the wifi was really good. Bed was soft and it was easy going for my 5 day stay! Easy to get around the city from the location!
"Clean rooms, friendly staff, a little pricey"
01/10/15 MattEmForest Calgary, Canada
We stayed here over New Years in a double air con room for 18USD a night. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Wifi didn't work very good in the room but it was decent in the restaurant/lobby. Their staff were quite helpful with anything we asked, especially with booking onward travel! We also rented a Tuk tuk (from the hotel) to take us to the killing fields and our driver was fantastic! He even offered us a lower rate than the lady from the front desk. Polly (tuk tuk driver) remembered our names and greeted us every time we were in the lobby and asked us what our plans were for the day. Okay GH is located a few block from the Royal Palace which makes its location great! It was a 10 minute walk to the main strip where all the pubs and restaurants are. One of the only downsides was the noise from the street. Everybody is up late and up even earlier in the morning. Granted it was New Years but every night seemed to be pretty noisy.
"Cheap cheerful and great for solo travellers"

Ok guesthouses strength is it's accessablity and services. Whether you are travelling alone or as friends or in a couple, this small rabbit warren of a guest house will make you feel like part of the travelling community. While there are cheap dorm rooms, I stayed in a twin room. At around $15-20, you get a hard but comfotable bed, your own bathroom and airconditioning. The rooms are dark but they have TV if thats what you'd like to do. Down stairs in the compact restaurant "lounge- social area", is where all the important stuff happens. You can eat western or Cambodian food at reasonable prices, meet other travellers and use the wifi. There are lots of friendly helpful staff and a desk to book tickets and organize tours and travel. Here you can buy water, snacks and store your valueables. The guesthouse is in an area close to the Palace and just a walk from lots of restaurants and the waterfront. For everything else there's a large fleet of mostly friendly and courteous Tuk Tuk drivers ready to take you any where at all. We made friends with a guy called "Red" who became our regular driver. He spoke English, and even bought us rain jackets during a heavy deluge. Don't expect a spotless, well appointed hotel sweat. Do expect friendly staff, a place to meet other travellers and a convenient location
"Decent room, helpful staff"
12/06/14 misibu Warsaw, Poland
Easy enough to find and in a great location next to the royal palace. The staff were helpful and happy to answer our questions. The double room was ok but a little expensive - 16 USD a night with fan only. I think this may have been because we got the room through booking[dot]com. The bathroom was good. The restaurant downstairs was simple, tasty enough and cheap. Overall a fine place to stay a few nights.
