"Great price, great breakfast"

We stayed here a few weeks ago. The house is well-maintained and very cute. The rooms were very nice and renovated. Breakfast was delicious and was entirely homemade. We got quiche, fresh fruit, yogurt, potatos, salad, and muffins. Delicious! I will be back.
"Beautiful downtown B&B"

We stayed in "Room 2" at The Century House Bed and Breakfast Ottawa in February and were very impressed! Service was excellent and the price was definitely a steal considering what you get. The B&B is a 5 minute walk from everything. We were able to park our car for the weekend and walk to Byward Market, Parliament Buildings, restaurants, pubs and the Rideau canal. The house itself is beautifully restored with spacious, super comfortable rooms. It is exquisitely decorated. Host Vittorio's breakfasts are absolutely delicious. Very highly recommended!

One of the nicest B&B's I've stayed at. The host was very welcoming and responded instantly to text messages. The house is immaculately decorated with lots of little nice touches. It was freshly painted and wood floors were recently sealed. Everything was very clean. The room was very nice with a comfortable bed and nice bathroom. The neighborhood is quiet and conveniently located, just a short walk to the market area and canal. It was very convenient to have on-site parking. The house was easy to find at night, since the house number was lighted with a red light. The living room and dining room was available for guests to use. In the dining room, the guests could help themselves to tea, bottled water, orange juice, and biscotti. Host was very flexible, he allowed guests to leave bags at the house past the check out time and he allowed me to park in the driveway past the check out time. Breakfast consisted of fresh fruit, yogurt, orange juice, coffee, fresh muffins or pastries followed by a nicely prepared hot dish.
"no comfort here"

A few days before we were to check in, we received an email from the owner that she wouldn't be at the B&B but someone would be there to check us in. She also sent the code to open the lock and told us which room would be ours. Good thing. No one was there when we arrived, in spite of my sending texts confirming the time of our arrival. The neighborhood is quite sketchy, Lots of students, but they are not the sketchy part. Looked like mission shelters around and a fair amount of street people. There is parking at the side of the building, which we used, but with no one there to guide us we weren't sure if we were blocking anyone. (ends up we were fine). So back to the neighborhood. It is also loud at night- lots of students around so every night is party night. The taupe room is OK. The bathroom, however, is teeny tiny and is practically unusable if you are over five feet tall. At the risk of TMI, you need to contort yourself to use the loo. The next morning, when we finally met the student who was in charge, she was nice enough. Breakfast was OK. There is a coffee machine that makes individual cups of coffee. Don't get excited - it is not from this century. It looks like something from 1970's Eastern Europe. Huge, slow and conversation-stopping loud to make One. Cup. Of. Coffee. At. A. Time. Honestly, there are plenty of other places to stay. Do yourself a favor and choose one of them.

Janis, the owner, is very warm and welcoming. She is also a great cook!! I love how she decorated the house - you can tell that she cares about the appearance and keeping things tidy. My room and bathroom were spotless (and I'm picky). The bathtub was HUGE. The first night I actually felt comfortable enough and the place looked clean enough to take advantage of the tub!

We loved the proximity to everything. We were able to walk to the Byward market, the university, the National Arts Centre and the Parliament Buildings. We did all this in winter too and it was an easy walk. The host was fantastic, the breakfast great and we would recommend this B&B to anyone and would return. The only odd thing was we sometimes could smell cigarette smoke in the front parlour when we came in at night, but not in our rooms. Highly recommend!

Great house - great breakfast!!! Very central, and easy to get in and out of at any time of day or night. Very central location. I've been to my share of hotels in Ottawa, and I would definitely pick this above those. I'm looking forward to my next trip!!

Not too many budget options exist in Ottawa. This place is budget-friendly, clean and tidy. Also with parking and at a convenient location. The staff were friendly and let me deposit my backpack for a few hours after I checked out.
"OTTAWA CENTRE BED AND BREAKFAST"

Pros: -relatively cheaper than hotels nearby -free off-the-street parking Cons: Be ready to sacrifice your convenience, if you've got used to the regular hotels: - A hostess is very strict about house rules: You can be standing before the locked door on the check in day, if you are late. It can be an extra trouble for you, if you are coming from the USA and forgot to purchase a proper travel plan for your cell phone. There is a breakfast provided to the tasters choice. But it can't be served too early. There is no food allowed in the gests rooms. Also, there is no chance to have a hot meal or a hot beverage in the house after breakfast, for a microwave is locked down in the pantry... In the dining area, there is a night stand size fridge: it can fit in one or two of your cold sandwiches and a small bottled beverage (on the top of some yogurt and processed cheese)... There are two part time maids in the house, and a hostess is very persistent in offering their services (for the extra tips). There is a constant slight smell of smoke on the first floor, but you cant smell it upstairs. A driveway is narrow and is shared with a neighbor, so you are required to park very close to the house, and that's why you cant get out from your car on the side of the house. There is a corner convenience store across the street, but you have to walk for about 2/3 miles to the nearest eatery. In early March a temperature here can drop down to -24 °C (-10 °F) or so. If you decide to drive, then you'll have to pay a hefty parking fee as well.

I stayed 3 nights at Ottawa Centre B&B. It has very good central location. I enjoyed great breakfast every morning. Owner is friendly person. I felt relaxed during all my stay almost like home. I can't think of anything that one could complain. I would recommend it to anybody. Most people will find interior decor attractive and it goes well with this type of the house.
