"Nice staff but everything else was terrible."
This hotel staff was great but everything else was terrible. This hotel was literally at the end of a dead-end street in the middle of nowhere. It is very far from everything, including restaurants, lounges in the main Seminyak area, and about 25-30 mins from Kuta Beach. The room itself is beautifully laid out, however given the bedroom had a thatched […] hut roof, I saw a rat scurry across the top of the roof one night. Also, the flies were present and very annoying. Lastly, my airline cancelled my flight and i needed to make an international call, however the room phone would only dial to the front desk, so when i went to the front desk to make the call they were unable to do it. "Nice villa in good location"
Breakfast and room service was average. When we ordered room service, it took 3 hours to arrive and the breakfast was average. The actual villa was very nice but the bath tub was not cleaned well and had dead bugs in it. The soap and shampoo were watered down and not refilled each day. The staff were very pleasant on the other hand and they do offer […] a free shuttle service into Seminyak when wanted which is handy. They did offer a free airport transfer on the way to the airport but were going to charge us to get back to the airport. We ended up getting a taxi as their driver was sick... Me and my friend stayed 4 nights at Mahala Hasa villas. The overall experience was great: good service, good breakfast, very comfortable villa, very clean and very well maintained.Genuine Expedia guest review
Adi, one of the staff at the villa made it so easy to arrange for airport pick up! Communication was seamless and the response was prompt and accurate. Stayed here for 4D3N, and was not disappointed by the villa. Very peaceful environment and the staff are polite and prompt and respect your privacy. (It was great that regardless of how late you leave […] your villa, they will only come in to clean up when you're out!) Having the bedroom on the second floor was a nice touch. The living area was amazing to lounge in during the day as the entire first floor was well ventilated and breezy. There isn't a telly on the first floor but who needs it when you have that awesome pool and sun! Wish there was a toaster in the villa though. Bed was amazingly comfortable, with good fluffy pillows and the aircon was nice and cool. (great if you're out all day in the heat and need a nice cool room at night) Bathroom was spacious and toiletries were provided. Location wise, the villa might be a little difficult to locate on your own so do email the property to arrange for airport pick up. However, it's very near the city center so no worries on getting around. (Get a hotel card from the front desk and pass it to all the taxi drivers)The road leading into the villa is under development so once that's done I'm sure it will be a nice accessible area to stay! Was sad to leave this awesome place and will definitely recommend it to friends! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It wasn't bad stay; the only real issue we had were the Mosquitos. Even with repellent and a zapper in the room we were covered in bites in the morning. The room would benefit from the addition of a net.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Modern, clean villas and fantastic service. Quiet location a fair way from most of the action, depends what you are after.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"This was absolutely perfect. Staff friendly."
Felt like we were treated like a king and queen. The unit was beautiful and much bigger than expected. It was wonderful to have our own pool (which was very big also). As soon as we visited reception they were always willing to help and went above and beyond our expectations. Breakfast was beautiful also. The units were very secluded and unlike a motel […] room I felt it was very private for us with beautiful pathways leading to each individual unit. Would recommend this to anyone.

Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice Days in Mahala Hasa"
02/26/15 RangerS27 Osterbotten
The Villa is excellent, safe and private. You have a lot of room in two floors. Private pool and kitchen (+ extra WC) downstairs to relax and upstairs fine bedroom and bathroom. The pool is narrow but big enough to swim. Everything is clean. Breakfast will be brought according your order morning to the first floor so you need not 'to dress for breakfast' outside your villa. The beach is in walking distance and also some services. Masala driver can bring you to the near by places if you want. Taxi is cheap way to go everywhere. Very near there is a stall, cheap drinks and nice family keeping it. The staff poison most of the mosquitos but some may survive but the is mosquito repellent in the room. The road to the villa is narrow and the environment a little disorganized but it is Bali. Stay home if you do not stand differences and different cultures. And in the Villa you have full privacy. Staff is very friendly, and always somebody present. Could go again!
"Third Stay and still fantastic value for luxury villa escape"

We have had a house in rural Bali for many years now and as it's a long commute to visit Bali, I always stay "in town" for a few nights before heading out to the house to shop, do errands, etc. I always try to stay at upscale/quiet/spacious/elegant resorts or cosmopolitan "city" boutique hotels w/private pools and after three stays over the past year at Mahalahasa, I'm quite satisfied that I've found my favorite urban yet private villa hotel at a reasonable price (there are other upscale villa boutique hotel resorts I also like, but these tend to be several hundred USD more/night; Mahalahasa offers a significant percentage of these same comforts but at a fraction of the price). Airport pick-up is included in the cost of the room which can be quite expensive at other hotels; plus, it's great having someone waiting for you at the airport w/o having to queue for a taxi/limo. Although the hotel location is somewhat secluded (and indeed, the final road to the hotel is begging to be finished soon but this is all too common in Bali and it's not within the hotel management's control), if you know the area, within a few minute's drive there are amazing beach restaurants, night life and shopping galore. I've never run into a problem with the hotel staff not being able to get me to a destination, even when not on the shuttle schedule timing (although one time, all of the hotel's cars were in use to/from airports and with other guests but I was told this ahead of time and I just took a taxi back to the villa--simple, and in larger hotels good luck getting free transportation whenever you wish...). Some of my favorite aspects of this villa hotel is its privacy, the quiet atmosphere (hence not a boutique hotel on a crowded busy street where you pay over US$ 300 for private pool/tiny room and are surrounded by other rooms and the noisy Legian/Seminyak streets 24/7), the fact that you can lounge downstairs to read/work/sleep on the very comfy sofa next to the pool, have a private swim (and some rooms are more sunny than others, so if you want to tan, do ask for a room with more sun at the time of day you wish to lie out--and ask the staff what the rain conditions are like at the time as you may wish to lie out in the morning or afternoon, and it's the weather that will dictate when you can!), and then head upstairs to your cocooned huge bedroom w/equally large ensuite bathroom (I have found that the a/c is so powerful upstairs that I've had to turn it to its lowest setting, and there is also a fan for circulation and big fluffy duvets and pillows to sink into for a heavenly night of peaceful/quiet sleep). The pool is great for laps (although it can be a bit "refreshing") or a midnight swim. I tend to work at night (wifi has always been excellent) and often travel alone, so I tend to order room service i/o venturing out to restaurants in the evening. The food at the hotel has always been fantastic, served on time, piping hot when meant to be hot and very fresh. I usually buy a bottle of wine and there is a large fridge to hold whatever groceries you wish, plus nice plates/wine glasses/cutlery...ice is delivered quickly to the room as well which then can be kept in the freezer for use whenever you wish. Breakfast is more than ample (I think the breakfast menu is quite straight forward and I have always been asked upon check-in what I want for breakfast the next day and what time to be served.). If you are a coffee drinker though, I would ask for 2-3 cups per person as the cups tend to be more of expresso size than a coffee mug. Breakfast is included in the room price and it has always been enough to keep me full and satisfied for the entire day. Regarding the pool/wall fountain, you can ask to have it on or off at any time...some people like the sound (like me) and others (my husband) do not, so on and off it goes... Service is fantastic, friendly, efficient and professional. I've never had anything but prompt and cheerful service from this hotel staff. Overall, I would call this a cozy, upscale, private and romantic escape villa hotel (and not really targeted for children--which is what I always prefer--the hotel in general is very quiet). I would not call the hotel "trendy" as trends come and go and this villa hotel is more of a constant; certainly modern and meant for privacy and romance but with a more traditional style of Balinese comfort and service. There are certainly more upscale and swank boutique hotels or beach resorts but for the price, convenience and privacy/super comfort/private pool, Mahalahasa ticks just about all high-value requirements.

"Great staff but everything else was bad"
02/11/15 Deljr84 New York
The staff here was great and very helpful, however the location was terrible. Located at the end of a dead-end road in Seminyak. I saw a rat run across the top of the thatched ceiling in the middle of the night. The mosquitos inside of the room ate me alive also. Lastly, my flight was cancelled and I desperately needed to call my airline, however I couldn't make international calls from the room (the room phone only dials the front reception desk), so when I went to the reception desk to make the call, they couldn't do it either. There are MUCH better hotel options in Seminyak and south Bali in general. Book if you want to be secluded in a quiet spot away from everything, and don't mind the inside/ outside living which can expose you to rodents and insects.

I dont really recommend this billa villa to anyone. The villas are really clean and nice and its so much like the photo, but it is unsafe as sokeone jumped to.our villa at night and i saw him from the glass of the bedroom at 1 am, it was really scary and there was only 1 security guard and the receptionist . The breakfast is so limited ans so untasty. Shuttle bus is always unavailable and we have to call a taxi or to walk to the main road. the staff are helpful but they dont understand english very well.
it was great ! we have our own private pool, which is managing well. also, breakfast was beautiful, especially Indonesian style. Every staff was nice! There is a free shuttle service from the villa to the heart of seminyak. it is very good. Wifi is working well.
"Lovely quiet villa!"
01/15/15 Billie-Jo77 Darwin, Australia
The villas are lovely split level only 5 mins from Seminyak eat street... Bathroom wasn't as nice as other rooms.. Appears to have been installed in a hurry & doesn't have the same finishes as other rooms. The living area downstairs including undercover pool was a dark area not adequately lit with lighting or natural sunlight. Luckily it was the rainy season as there wasn't adequate room to sit/lounge in the sun. Otherwise clean throughout with very comfortable bed!! Efficient & friendly staff!
"A Seminyak Oasis"
01/12/15 POLARBEAR81 Bondi, Australia
We arrived NYE and were picked up by the shuttle we organised prior to the villa. It was about 30 mins drive maybe even less but it wasn't peak time. The staff were very respectful of privacy and soooo polite. They really went out of their way to make your stay comfortable. They also are very good at giving tips about Seminyak and the surrounds aswell as Bali in general. You must leave your key at reception when you exit the villa and pick up when you get back as a safety precaution. Please take one of the business cards so you know how to get back as many cab drivers aren't familiar with the villa. Its literally a 5 -10 min walk up from the W hotel. Also it doesn't accept AMEX for those of you that are AMEX travelers, be prepaid to pay cash/mastercard or VISA. I paid via Expedia with AMEX (as they were the agent) but i wasn't advised at check-in that AMEX was not accepted which was a bit frustrating when checking out and paying for incidentals. The check in was very quick and our villa was ready and clean. The staff really make an effort in terms of giving you the guided tour around the villa. The villa has a stock room for all necessities like toilet paper etc. There are two bathrooms the main one upstairs and downstairs just a toilet. A kitchenette if you wanted to cook something and also a kitchen sink. Most importantly a filtered water machine (like a water cooler) and a stocked minibar. The pool was great with a small deck to sunbake on and its cleaned regularly of leaves etc and you can smell the chlorine. The rainfall/water feature switches on abut 8.30am and stops about 8pm. On our last day was a bit disappointed that it wasn't switched on unsure if they just forgot or if there was some maintenance. Bathroom was clean and spacious - the rainfall shower head was nice however the water pressure in our villa seemed to be strong and then weak (pulsating almost) but not a massive deal. Although the villa is over a year old, it has aged quite rapidly - but you get that so don't be too surprised its definitely bareable. The breakfast selection was a bit confusing in terms of how you actually had to order but none the less the breakfast was always on time and delivered to the room, if there was nay questions about the order they would call you to double check. I think the management needs to make the order form for breakfast a bit more simpler. Wi-fi in the room had a decent signal - no complaints there. The day spa services was great, they come and do it at your villa, the girls were absolutely lovely and polite and the selection of services on offer catered to everyone. The reception staff always smiling, greeting you and helpful, and the shuttle service has times of when it heads off to Seminyak etc (its on the front desk at reception). Only confusion was we tried to exchange money at reception and they referred us to the money exchange outside (mind you it was late) and in the welcome pack it said that reception did do FX echange - this was odd. The location is quite handy, once you go down the driveway, the road splits on your left if you keep walking is a mini mart, ATM and Money Exchange. Alot of shops and a coffee shop called Revolver - great for morning coffee. by following this road, its close to Ku da Tah, W hotel, Mexicola, Potato Head, cab ride to La Plancha and Mosaic as well as Seminyak Square. Overall I really loved staying here I would stay again.

Outstanding ! My wife and I stayed for a week in August. We had a few questions a few days prior to arriving and received prompt and informative responses. We were picked up by the villas driver from the airport and they were so friendly and really helpful. It was my wife's birthday the following morning and I had requested a special breakfast. I was amazed when ALL the staff arrived to sing happy birthday and they also organised a birthday cake ( not requested - just part of the excellent service ). The villa is in a quieter location, beautiful decor, is love the privacy each villa offers - perfect for couples for a romantic getaway. Bed is super comfortable, private pool is great, breakfast is great ( except the fruit .... But that's everywhere in Bali ). Driver is available to take you to many places, reception are fantastic - need anything organised such as an outing, dinner reservation, taxi or a private in villa massage they will organise it, confirm all details, remind you of details and somehow give you VIP access to everywhere. The staff and management are truely amazing ! So genuinely welcoming, so friendly and so willing to do anything for you. Thank you everyone we are truely thankful and can't wait to come back.
