Wonderful English countryside experience
Had a great stay even though it was a little out-of-the-way. We initially wanted to stay in Salisbury. Everyone was super nice and helpful. To be recommended for anyone who wants a nontypical hotel stay in England.

A great find.
The Hatchet Inn was a great find even though it was further away from my fishing venue. The room was of a good size with comfortable beds and everything you would need. The food in the restaurant was excellent with a wide choice of items. Breakfast was huge and freshly cooked with excellent tea and coffee. The staff were friendly and efficient.

Gorgeous, delightful, quiet country pub
We were staying overnight in order to go to Thruxton racing circuit. This pub was very convenient for that. But it is so delightful it would be nice to stay just for a quiet summer weekend break. We sat outside for some time on the terrace enjoying a drink before going in to have our delicious evening meal inside.

Hatchet Inn, not grim!
Unique pub with rooms but don't let that put you off. The pub was excellent, serving high quality food and drink and was very popular. Room was comfortable, and breakfast was excellent. Plenty of parking.

Quiet country inn with local ales & friendly staff
One night stay in room 5, the room is separate from the main pub building in an old thatched building to the right of the site. The room was up to date, sold as a double the bed was two singles put together but for a short stay that didn't matter, the comfort of the mattress and bedding made up for it. The room was equipped with an en suite shower, toilet and basin and TV. The room was clean but beginning to show signs of getting old. A bit of tarting up wouldn't go amiss. It was on the ground floor, one window to the car park and one out on to open fields, even on a Saturday noise was not a problem and there is no one around for miles it was the deepest sleep I'd had in ages. The Inn had a selection of good local ales and the menu looked impressive but we did not have an evening meal. We were greeted by the same man in the evening who provided our breakfast early in the morning. He was welcoming but not over the top and makes a good full English breakfast. The Inn is a short distance from Thruxton Race Circuit and was the reason for the stay. Would visit again.
