Spent a Weekend in the lodge. Absolutely beautiful interior design, well equipped kitchen, spacious, comfortable beds, chimney...Whirlpool, only 5 minutes walk to the skilifts...and great service. Can highly recommend the lodge.
I have stayed at The Lodge, Champery for many years whilst we skied in the area or for a summer break.
As usual, the accommodation is second to none. In other ski resorts one takes a chance with accommodation being too small or poorly equipped. Here the accommodation is spacious and well equipped. The kitchen area is sufficient to be able to prepare a banquet, if necessary, and the dining area large enough to accommodate the banquet.
Security is good. The service provided by Marie and Florent is attentive and they are always able to help by booking a restaurant or advising on where to visit or eat.
They know the area well and their advice is always very useful. They are also very helpful if there are any problems. Whilst staying we had problems with our hot tub with a malfunction. As no one was staying in apartment 1, we were advised that we could use their hot tub whilst they organised repairs. One cannot get fairer than that.
We will certainly be returning again.
Really nice appartment (ours was ground floor, 2 bedrooms, own terrace w jacuzzi). Spacious living room w fireplace & well furbished kitchen. Way better than other chalets we rented in Chamonix & Verbier that usually are run down & outdated. Own parking space in garage beneath building w comes in handy since car not needed, short walk to lower station of the lift.
I came with friends here and had a very nice ski trip. The Lodge provided the perfect accommodation; spacious, luxurious and convenient. Loved the option of leaving your ski equipment in a cage on the pistes so that you did not have to carry anything for the 2 minute walk to the ski lift. Nice fireplace, very well equipped kitchen and very clean.
We booked this relatively late and we have been really pleased with our choice. The service from Florent at Mrs Miggins was outstanding and the apartment that we stayed in was quite outstanding!
Not only did we get a late booking discount to rate card, but we then also got an upgrade on arrival and everything about the apartment we've stayed in was fantastic.
The location of the Lodge is very close to the main lift up to the slopes, very convenient for the ski hire shop and very convenient for the main street with the restaurants and bars.
Can't think of anything to complain about and can think of lots of reasons why I would come back!!
Where to begin? We rented a two bedroom apartment in the Lodge for 5 months. We arrived in July and are sadly leaving the 12 December 2014. We loved it so much, we are coming back to check out the skiing which Florent and Marie have promised us is endless. We will return for the month of January.
The Lodge is impressive but relaxed. Florent and Marie are incredibly welcoming and helpful: questions answered, problems resolved immediately and with a smile.
The apartment was spacious and accomodated members of our family visiting with babies and a six year old with ease. The balcony was a delight on sunny days, all meals were eaten outside whenever possible. It was a great place to view the fireworks on Swiss National Day! The Lodge had a travel bed, cot and high chair readily available. It was "the wettest summer" in 65 years and we still loved the Lodge and the surrounding area.
There were so many choices of activities. The Lodge is next door to the Sports Centre, where our family used the outdoor pool and the climbing wall. We even had the unique pleasure of being given tickets from Florent and Marie to watch the European Curling championships. Don't knock it until you have watched it, it was a great, unique experience. Our son's went mountain biking on the endless trails.
It is a fabulous place for hiking and taking in the views of the vast Dents de Midi and Dents Blanches, the mother ships. It is utterly picturesque with chalets and farms, waterfalls, breathtaking views and welcoming cantines (mountain restaurants) on the mountains.
We sing the praises of Cantine Sur Coux and the adorable waitress Candice! The food was classic and welcome after a long hike. It is totally child friendly, you can take the cable car up and walk down to it.They have a fabulous play area and it is sunbaked.
The Cantine Des Dents Blanches in Barme (you can take the free navette) is in another mind blowing location! You can also take your car and walk, their are endless choices for different abilities. We loved their food, the autumn sanglier(wild boar), cerf & chevreuil(venison) and wild mushrooms gathered by their chef were memorable!
Christine at the very special Cantine Buvette de Bonavau is divine, welcoming and the location of her restaurant was one the most spectacular locations we have ever experienced. You were salivating over her classic mountain dishes. Salad was only available if it made it up the mountain that day. Rose wine enjoyed wrapped up in a blanket just staring at that view is something we will never forget! Sadly, the Cantines all closed by the end of October.
Main Street of Champery is charming but if you are looking for a scene, it's not here out of season. Lights out by 9:30. The Cafe de Nord had great ambience with it's outdoor space in summer and it's cozy indoor restaurant in December and typical but delicious mountain food.
Out of town, is the wonderful Auberge du Grand Paradis. Open every day. It was a welcome change to the traditional offerings and faultless. They were able to accomodate a party of 8 with ease in a private alcove, everyone enjoying the autumn game & delicious wine. It is a stunning restaurant & we can't wait to return. It is owned by British expats who have brought a welcome twist to the local vernacular.
Town is very quiet out of season. We missed the restaurants when they closed, especially since the walking was still excellent.
It is sad to go but we love the Lodge and the area and look forward to January 2015!
I was staying here for a week, at ski. It was great. Luxury. There were 2 things I appreciate the most: the hot-tub (not all rooms have access-just selected once!) and the fact that it is so near the telecabine ( cable car ). 5 minutes walk.
This hotel also provide you a locker up in the mountain so you can leave there your ski !
It is so practical. The kitchen is equipped to a high standard.
Very good services.
Also free entry into the sports center and swimming pool next door.
I stayed in apartment nr 9 in december 2013, my first impressions of it was enormous, modern and luxury.
We had three bedrooms, two bathrooms, (where of one was handicap friendly). A well equipped kitchen connected to the big living room with chimney, TV and games. We could enjoy the sun at the porch with a view over the mountains Les Dents Blanches. There were also a grill and a jacuzzi.
Champéry is a small village and The Lodge is situated close to the train station and to the main street with bakery, restaurants, bars, nightclubs, shops and it lies even closer to the cabin which brings you up to the ski system Portes du Soleil. I had a wonderful staying at The Lodge.
Returned from this apartment building yesterday, truly a wonderful place. The accommodation is luxurious and spacious. The kitchen is equipped to a high standard (with the exception of washer/dryer which are in the basement and are pay to use). We stayed in a ground floor apartment which had its own outdoor space and private hot tub. The apartment contained an open fire with unlimited free wood supplies. The request for a barbecue in March was quickly and happily met. The staff running the building were attentive efficient and willing to put in extra effort. Skiing in Champery involves taking a cable car up to the ski area, The Lodge provides a free locker for ski storage overnight at the top of the cable car and free boot dryers at the lodge itself. All in all an upmarket experience that was well worth the upmarket price. Other places will add on a daily tourist tax and final cleaning fee - not here, it's included. Also free entry into the sports center and swimming pool next door. Any negatives? Nothing major, but more garbage bags dishwasher tablets etc would be welcome. Recommended without hesitation.
I am not going to use a lot off space because basically these apartments are just excellent. Centrally located by the main lift, train and town. Huge well equipped lodges, superb kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms, lovely lounge and fireplace. Hot tub in garden. Good ski. Rooms. Wonderful service, and delivered food. I would recommend the takeout from Le atelier gourmand.
