"Great rooms, but no one came to clean"
The hotel is nice and new and our room was beautiful with a suite kitchen and fireplace . However, no one ever came to clean the room. After the first day no one came, we told the front desk and said we needed clean towels and more shampoo. That night, there was a note apologizing with candy but the room still hadn't been cleaned!!! Our baby was sleeping […] so we had to ask them to drop towels off at the door and empty the trash full of diapers we left in the hall. Three nights, no service. Something went wrong. "Great Weekend Getaway"
My family and I were able to spend the weekend at some of the Grand Rapids must do's and opted to stay at Residence inn. The staff was attentive and helpful throughout the stay. The rooms were clean and we'll maintained. The only oddity, which seems to be an emerging hotel trend is the lack of rooms withbath tubs. Showering with an 18 month old was […] not likely to end well so we were relocated to a handicap accessible room. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Good facilities and comfort"
We liked our stay here and while we did not use the kitchen, it was good to see all the modern appliances. One gripe - the bathroom was not cleaned from before and was smelling. We were just too tired to complain.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I’ve informed the General Manager of your comments in regards to the cleanliness of the bathroom and we will certainly look into the issue to ensure this does not happen again. "Excellent, new, clean, convenient "
Highly recommend this property. Opened Dec 2013. New, friendly staff. Convenient to airport and highest access to downtown. Fitness room spacious enough with outdoor view. Evening social hour and breakfast offers respectable food choices. Price comparable to other properties in area. Sits back off the main road and is quiet.
"Wow! Best Residence Inn I've Been To!!!"

Fly out of GRR airport fairly often. Decided to try the new Marriott Residence Inn. It has an airport shuttle. A beautiful lobby, rooms with kitchens. A great workout room and pool area. A full basketball court and an outdoor seating area with a big gas firepit. A nice bar area where you can get a glass of wine and then sit outside by the fire and converse with other guest. If this isn't enough they also serve a dinner on Monday- Thursday at 6p and breakfast each morning at 6a. This has become my regular place to stay and leave my car during business trips flying out of Grand Rapids. Love this place!!!
"family vacation with kids"

Let me start my review by saying I will never stay at any other hotel than a Residence Inn when traveling with my family from this point on. ( This was our first time. ) The 2 bedroom with 2 bath, living area, and full size kitchen with table is worth every cent I paid, even with any hiccups. I would recommend it to ANY family that has kids of any age. We had such a great time and the hotel room made coming back and relaxing after a long day very non-stressful and relaxed. The breakfast was fantastic every morning, and they work to keep the area neat and tidy. There are many different things set out to be added to waffles and the pot of oatmeal. Such as strawberries and raisins, or cinnamon sugar and whipped cream. There are an assortment of fresh fruits, as well as sliced melon with yogurt and milks. A meat and eggs was always offered. On rotation there were egg muffins on biscuits or ............... There were also breakfast burritos one day. Other drinks were 2 different juices, coffee, and there was always water available. The managers reception in the evening, mon-thursday, was like a real dinner, and was great each time we were there. They also offered cookies two nights we were there, and tirimisu on italian night. Outside they had a small outdoor fenced in basketball court that my kids were excited for and used on two occasions. The pool area was always neat and when we went from like 3-5 pm when we were there, we were the only ones in there. One evening we were there around 6 and it got busier with families but we were lucky in that everyone was respectful even though it got busy. There is an outdoor area between the pool and the lobby and eating area, with a fire pit, and seating. There is also an outdoor grill you are welcome to use and plenty of places to sit if you do. We were there in July, but it was cool one night, and I saw a family eating their meal from the managers reception around the fire pit. The hotel is set back from the road so that it is quiet. The only thing you need to know, to get to this hotel from the street is this - you turn at the La-Z-Boy store. The hotel has an access road from the parking lot on the left of the store. I found the hotels location great for getting on/off the Hwy. The grocery store is just down the rd a couple of minutes if you take a left. There are places to eat everywhere in the area as well as a Costco, Target, and Meijer. We are members at Costco and filled up the cars gas tank there. The beds, I slept great. The king sized room has a walk in shower, the queen sized room has a bathroom with a tub. Loved the bathrooms. There are 3 tvs overall and the one in the main area has a DVR. I would say that during the week, business clientele outnumber families by a little bit. At breakfast we only saw a couple sets of families every morning, and more at the pool that once evening. It's a great place if you have kids for the breakfast and evening meal. This hotel allows pets. I'm not sure of the size limit or if there is one. If you have allergies, this is something to know. I assume they would work with you. We do not have pets and have no problem with pets being in the hotel. We only saw one dog while were there being walked outside. My husband insisted he could faintly smell dog but I couldn't pin point it as being a smell. I did see dog hair on the tv console but kept that to myself because everything else was so great. I did not let my kids pull out the sofa bed as they would usually do for fun, because there was dog hair on it. So, my only recommendation for the hotel is if they know a pet has been in a room, that it gets a more thorough cleaning than would normally be necessary. My son and husband are both allergic to pets that shed, but we didn't have any issues. This hotel is relatively new. We will stay in it every time we come to this area. The customer service was outstanding. The rooms were great, there was only the dog hair, and a cabinet had a lose screw, a red chair in the corner of the room did not at all look new, and I wouldn't let the kids sit on it. My husband sat is camera bag there the duration of the trip. I am not complaining about those things however, I'm just being honest about what it was, not at all does it detract from how overall I loved our visit and what a a great time we had. We are only able to vacation once a year and these are memory making times for us, my kids loved everything about this hotel.
"Some great, some not so great"

My husband and I traveled to Grand Rapids for a wedding so we wanted a nice, clean hotel that would allow us to have our small family pet. The Residence Inn met all of these expectations. We stayed 5 nights so we had a large bill as expected. Gabby was a night desk clerk who was efficient and professional beyond words. Breakfast as well as night food social food was great. On the down side, air conditioner/ heater was very noisy in room which was not expected in a new hotel. Also, every time a room door is shut, the noise is heard. Cleanliness of hotel was awesome but maintenance was poor. The toilet paper holder was falling off the wall in Room 115. Safety bars in shower had loose hard wear. Paper towel holder was falling apart. But of most significance was a worn out bed. Our first night found my husband and I rolling to the middle of the bed in a sink hole. We told the maintenance man on Wednesday morn who quickly told us he would either flip the mattress or find another one that day while we were gone. When we returned that afternoon, we discovered it had not been done. We reported it to Gabby at the front desk who apologized and told us she would report it to the manager. So we spent another night at $135 plus tax with very limited sleep and hurting backs. The next day, we informed the staff when we were leaving so the mattress could be changed. When we returned, the mattress had been changed but the room was torn apart. We reported it to the manager who immediately sent someone to finish the room. Perhaps all mattresses are not worn out and perhaps not all rooms have maintenance issues. However, our room did and therefore, some consideration of a reduced rate would have been in order. Had the courtesy of a rate reduction been offered for our problems, my ratings of the hotel would have increased. Currently, I cannot refer anyone to this property.

Beautiful residence inn. quiet location, great relaxing fire pit out to relax by. Only downside are the dogs. Not sure why they would let them in a nice clean hotel. It wont stay clean and fresh with dogs having full acess to rooms hallways elevators etc.
"New Hotel Shines in GRR"
06/24/14 Kim K Naples, Florida
The Residence Inn is a new property with modern design. I believe that it has only been open 6 months. I stayed last night to get close to the GRR airport for an early morning flight. It was a pleasant surprise. The "newness" gives it a leg up over the competition in the market. It is light and modern, bright, and clean. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are spacious. You can work - or have family. With family in Muskegon, I find myself staying by GRR on the way up or out when visiting. So I have had the chance to stay at many of the hotels in Grand Rapids or close to the airport. Both this Residence Inn and the JW Marriott are comparable to the class of expectation that you would find nationally. The only issue was that the third party booking.com had a lower rate than the Marriott rates, which is unusual. So I had to book online while standing at the lobby desk. That was a little odd. But not a big deal. The breakfast was also not open at 6:00 am. Someone did not show for work. But that does happen in these properties sometimes, so I did not worry about it too much. Was fine. It is a safe choice. Especially if you can get a good rate (under $140). Is worth a try if you get to the area.
"Nice Stay, Newer Property"

I travel to Grand Rapids frequently for work, typically staying downtown. However on my most recent visit I stayed at Residence Inn near GR airport due to no availability downtown. This property is located on busy 28th Street, which is the major commercial route near the airport. However the property is located at the end of a long driveway, off 28th, thus removing all the traffic and associated noise/bother. It's actually quiet even outside the hotel building and inside there is no noise at all. The hotel rooms are typical Residence Inn with kitchen/living room, bathroom and separate bedroom. I believe this is a newer property and therefore there is no wear & tear factor with furniture, appliances, carpet, etc - all seem new and very clean. The bed was comfortable with nice linens. Only complaint about the room is the very loud air conditioner with the actual unit inside the bedroom. When it kicks on, it is noticeably loud to the point of sleep interruption. If you're not used to some sort of white noise, you may be waking up all night. This property does a nice complimentary breakfast buffet and a theme happy hour on weeknights with hot food. The wifi worked perfectly throughout the property. The fitness center had nice, new equipment again an indication of the overall newness of the property. Like other Residence Inns, there is an outside basketball court which was in use most evenings of my stay. Regarding restaurant options in the area - unless you're fond of any chain restaurant available in the US - you'll find limited choices. The Euro Bistro on 28th Street is actually a nice, non-chain type of restaurant. Otherwise it's Applebees, Smokey Bones, Olive Garden, etc, etc. Of course with the kitchen in the room, the best option might be to visit the supermarket and cook in your room. Overall a very good experience.. a nice place to stay
"Convenient for Airport - Nice New Property"
05/30/14 dukefan2331 Dallas, Texas
Almost all positives for this new property. We liked the outdoor area, and lounged there for 2-3 hours, enjoying the cool breezes and comfy furniture. Others were using the grill and we saw several "feasts" being made outdoors. They had a soup and salad bar on our visiting day - it saved us from having to buy dinner. The room was large and comfortable. Everything was very accessible. New style shower that was big, open and nice. The hotel shuttle system was a bit confusing. A reason for us staying at the Residence Inn was that we could turn our rental car in and save a day's fees. I checked us in, told the Front Desk, and he said he would try (and successfully did) get someone to cover so that he could follow me and pick me up. The next morning we were put in a pre-paid cab with a driver (and dirty cab) that clearly didn't align with our overall experience. I would like to have them make certain personnel are available to get folks from the airport (thus the location and the name).
"A Nice Stay!"

We stayed here for the night and had a two bedroom room for two couples (one with a three month old) and one other person. We had plenty of room and didn't feel we we're crowding each other. My only complaint was a flickering light in the bathroom when the light was off (I know, it sounds weird but it did) and it didn't bother us when we were sleeping. A nice location and a GREAT breakfast,
"Very nice. "

Staying here for business. This is a brand new place. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent rooms. Great shower. Good workspace in the room. Highly recommended! The only minor downside is it is set back and a long walk to stores or food.
