"Great weekend getaway!"
The BnB was a great find! Place was well kept up, right by the Craigdarroch castle. Bathroom was small but updated and the room even hada mini fridge; guest kitchen was great too! Would definitely visit again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"right next to Craigmyle castle"
Very nice condition. Stairs a probem with luggage, but if someones around they are only too happy to carry it for you. Very nice breakfast with quality fruit, cereal, pastries etc. Free use of laundry. About 15 min. walk to downtown and bus if available also.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Craigmyle is a historical inn with lots of character. The room seemed clean but was very small and choppy. There was a wide variety of foods at breakfast. Many amenities were available that we could not take advantage of such as laundry, food storage, and computer use. A beautiful castle is located next door.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel in nice neighborhood"
The hotel was easy to find. It had only street parking, but we had no trouble finding a space. It is an old rooming house that has been refurbished with great bathrooms and lovely rooms. There is a full kitchen for your use at any time. While the staff were very responsive, there was no one there to help with luggage when we arrived. We ended up leaving […] our big bags in the car because we could not take them up the two long flights of stairs. Also, the continental breakfast consisted of cold cereal, store-bought bagels and pastries. The good stuff was the yogurt and fresh fruit. All in all, we'd stay there again. "Beautiful Place to Stay!"
We loved Staying at the Craigmyle - the only issue we encountered were people not obeying the posted signs on the street. There we many people parking in the residential spots while taking in the Castle tours. That did not leave us space to park our vehicle.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lack of Basic Amenities"
We've travelled all over the world and say to each other, "Oh, Oh, it's French". We find that French-heritage establishments are big on "little nic-nacs", but short on basic amenities, like Kleenex tissues, a coffee-maker, a TV, a convenient electrical outlet, etc., etc., etc.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice stay"
Very comfortable room and pleasant hosts. Good breakfast too. Located in a nice neighborhood but a long walk or 10.00 taxi ride into town.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming and Tranquil"
We enjoyed our stay at the Craigmyle very much. The bed was extremely comfortable, the castle view was enchanting, the location was beautiful and peaceful and the breakfast was delicious and healthy. The only critique we have is that they need to repair or replace the blinds in our room. They weren't working very well, so we needed to wear sleeping […] masks to get some rest. "A pleasant B&B"
The Craigmyle was very convenient to the locations we were visiting. As a bed and breakfast it was excellent. The only problem was the number of stairs that had to be negotiated. The Innkeeper was very friendly and accommodating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This was a fantastic bed & breakfast experience for us - everything from our bedroom to the common areas to the breakfast spread to the quiet neighborhood it is set in. The staff was able to make a recommendation on entertainment for an evening out (on a Monday no less) and directed us to a local comedy night. When we returned there was a warm fire […] with soft classical music playing. Out our window we had a view of the beautiful Craigdarroch Castle which we toured the next day. (It's lit by night, make sure you take a look!) We only stayed one night, but we will definitely return on our next trip to Victoria! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"I didn't want to leave."
I thoroughly enjoyed The Craigmyle. It is such a pleasant place to stay. The breakfast was wonderful. My room was great; the bed was comfortable and the linens very nice. It is so nice to be able to read by the fire, do some work on the computer, or just sit for a visit and relax. The guest kitchen allowed me to cook my dinner, then eat in the dining […] area. Lovely guesthouse with lots of charm. Updates in the bathroom very well done and consistent with style of guesthouse. I loved the benefit of being able to open the windows for fresh air. The neighbourhood is quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was self- serve with lots of fresh fruit and other options. All in all a very pleasant stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The comforter on the bed was not clean and the pillows were very thin and uncomfortable. Bed itself was comfortable. Good coffee at breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Home away from home"
Great old guest house that backs onto Craigdarrack Castle. Great amenities with free wi-fi, free access to the laundry, phone , kitchen and lounge area. Breakfast was great with plenty to choose from. There are 3 floors to this old boarding house so if you don't want to carry your bags up flights of stairs, this place is not for you. Room was very cosy […] and comfortable although quite small. Bathroom facilities were great. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"a real home away from home"
The house was beuatifullu and thoughfully decorated with unostentious good taste, with an eye for comfort, both in the bedroom occupied, and in the public areas. the house managers, Tony and Paul, couldn't have been more helpful and friendly; in short, the place ias a gem if you value a good night's sleep slightly away from the downtown buzz.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"loved the area.."
The mini suite was perfect for one person, quiet and restful. It was only a 7 minute walk to Gov. House Gardens and then another 20 min. to Fairfield Plaza and the ocean. I would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Super cute B&B"
I booked this because it said it was only 1.6km to DT Victoria but its more like 5km. No problem if you have a car, i was on bike. Breakfast was great! Antique old house with new updated rooms. Although my room was very small. Nice Friendly owner.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by The Craigmyle Thank you so much for your review. We truly appreciate it your comments. We are 1.6 km from the corner of Fort & Douglas which is the core of downtown where Cactus Club Restaurant is located and the Bay Centre and the Royal Bank. The distance was googled on map quest to provide accurate information especially for those who wish to walk. It's a 20-25 minute walk. I love the walk myself since it's just down Fort Street. Walking back to the Craigmyle, up Fort Street, is a bit harder as you will be going up a small progressive hill, but very subtle. Thanks for your comments about the house. Not all rooms have been renovated, we are half way there. Thanks so much for staying with us! And thank you so much for taking the time to write a review!

We had a wonderful stay at the Craigmyle. The location is quiet and close to the castle and Government House gardens. Our room was very comfortable. We spent alot of our leisure time at the Guest House, as it was very comfortable inside and out. Travelling about Victoria was very easy, as the location is perfectly central. "Comfy accommodation close to the Castle"
We spent two days in May at the Craigmyle. This B&B is in a large house abutting the stunning Craigdarroch Castle in a nice area of Victoria. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, however the building we undergoing some renovations, which we assumption will be only a temporation disruption. The breakfast was "full continental" and we did not go hungry. The […] common kitchen was a great asset. We enjoyed the quiet sitting room and use of the computer on a few occassions. Overall a very pleasant stay! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by The Craigmyle Thank you so much for your comments and your understanding of the renovations during your stay. It's hard for us to upgrade all the rooms as we are pretty full year round. We did stop for July & August & September and will resume with the remaining rooms in the fall. It will be better since all the hallways are done now. We will only do one room at a time and this should be less disruptive. Thank you for your comments about the breakfast! Glad to hear that you enjoyed it as well as the rest of the house! Again, many thanks for your comments and being so pleasant about the renovations! Sincerely Mireille
This was my first use of a "Guest House" and I was a little worried about maintaining my privacy. I was very pleased with the feeling of privacy. Breakfast area was spacious and therefore I was able to enjoy my coffee with other persons conversations in "the background." Because it is an older building sound between rooms is what can be expected, however […] the sounds were not disruptive as there are no TVs blaring. all in all a great stay and I will return. "Historic and Cozy"
12/17/14 linda358 Salmon Arm, Canada
We enjoyed our 3 night stay at this unique guesthouse. Although our room was small, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had been completely renovated. The shared common areas are very inviting, as is the gourmet continental breakfast provided. For guests who wish to prepare their other meals, there is a well-appointed kitchen. Breakfast room has a lovely view of Craigdarroch Castle. This lodging is not really close to downtown, but we knew that before we booked. The innkeeper is friendly and helpful.
"Very Relaxing, Nice Folks"
12/12/14 Bruce J Jewell, Iowa
Rooms are a bit tight, but nicely furnished, clean and comfortable. Renovations are apparently being undertaken and, when finished, the ambiance will be even better. Public areas (sitting area, dining area etc.) are comfortable and charming. Breakfast choices were excellent (cereals, berries, muffins, toast, etc) and it was fun visiting with other guests during breakfast. Located in a neat, well-maintained residential area, adjacent to historic Craigdarroch Castle, which is open for tours and very much worth seeing. Within walking distance of downtown Victoria, though it's a bit of a trek (9 or 10 blocks). Parking is on the street and it can be a bit of a challenge finding a space. Not handicap accessible: many steep stairs, and most guest rooms are on 2nd or 3rd floors. Laundry facilities on site at no extra charge: very convenient. Owners were away on vacation while we were there, but the live-in caretakers did an excellent job of taking care of us. Would definitely stay there again!
"Cosy Period Accommodation"
12/12/14 Lyndance Vancouver, Canada
Comfortable and cosy room with wonderful period furniture. Well located and I have always wanted to live in that area of Victoria ever since I was born and brought up in the city. Innkeeper friendly and wifi accesible. Did miss a phone in my room for more privacy. Price unbeatable.
"Nice, but not amazing"
12/11/14 Aaron M Portland, Oregon
First, I should say that if you want to be close to Craigdarroch Castle, this is about as close as you can get without hiding out IN the castle. The views are very nice, if you have a room with a view, and they light up the castle at night, so it really is quite pretty. It's not very close to any other attractions, but it is a good place if for nothing else than to walk around the castle at night. The common areas of the house are comfortable. There are a couple couches and there are tables and chairs for breakfast. They have a computer that guests can use to check email or look up directions. They also have a printer, which is nice so that we could print directions. They rent bicycles, but they did not have any available when we stayed. The room was comfortable. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. There was enough hot water for showers. There was not air conditioning in the room, but the temperature was moderate enough that that wasn't an issue. The breakfast was a little above average. There were homemade waffles with real maple syrup that we heated up in the toaster. There were cereals and yogurts. There was juice, milk, coffee, tea. And there were a number of pastries available. The owner (I forgot his name! Sorry!) was very polite and helpful. He gave us dinner advice and had us feeling right at home.
"Unique place and good value."
This B & B is in a great location and is good value. T he neighbourhood was quiet and parking on the street was free. The room was fresh and clean and had its charm with antique furnishings complimenting the character and age of the building. The bed was quite comfortable and the sheets were clean and good quality;as were the pillows. The included breakfast is found in a bright dining room adjacent to the living room; both rooms are a mix of antique furnishings with modern style. The living room sports comfy couches and a cosy fireplace. The breakfast itself was a pleasant surprise. Many included breakfasts in modestly priced motels are a ghastly combination of the finest 7/11 can offer. This breakfast offered wholesome breads, banana bread, cereals and fresh fruits and yogurt. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this B&B, it was very good value, interesting, in a great location and I would highly recommend it.
"I miss my second home"
I came to Victoria for a month for school and I feel soooo lucky to have found such an amazing place to stay plus I rented one of their vehicles! -First of all I loved my room (202)!!!! -Vivienne was terrific (she was the innkeeper I talked to daily) -kitchen was awesome and so was breakfast (and the tea nook) -laundry great! Seriously I could go on and repeat the same things as everyone else but I won't instead I'll say this.... This place is perfect for the traveler who is looking for charm, friendly travellers, independence, an amazing location with fantastic neighbourhoods in every single direction, and peace and quite. This was the perfect home base! I can't wait to bring my fiancé back to the island in the future and stay at my second home once again. Much love, Genene
"Comfortable Relaxing Almost Home"

This was my second time staying at Craigmyle and won't be my last. It's a delightful and comfortable place to stay, easy to find and great location if you want easy access to tourist points downtown or University of Victoria. Rooms have been updated, bathrooms are a little slice of heaven. My only heads up for travelers - you'll be facing lots of stairs, to get to the front entry and as well inside (unless you are in the sole main floor suite, you'll have 1 or 2 flights more to your room). We've stayed at the Empress before and Craigmyle meets those hospitality standards easily. The innkeepers and owners are a delight and make guests feel welcome. Lovely breakfast the food and setting, cozy public living area, easy access computers and wifi. I almost don't want to rave too much, and keep it a secret, but the owner/innkeeper deserve public kudos for high level of professionalism. Also, nice kitchen for guests to use. We didn't use it except to snag some wine glasses, it'd be great for longer term stays.

"I didn't want to leave."
11/18/14 MizCharlotte Vancouver Island, Canada
I had the pleasure of staying here 4 nights in November. The bed and linens were fabulous. The continental breakfast was great, and laid out very nicely. Fresh fruit & berries, yogurts, cheese, several choices of breads/bagels/etc. Wonderful spreads were all available. The living and dining setting was so warm & cozy. The guest kitchen is so practical too. I had wonderful walks to and from downtown each day. I enjoyed spending time up in my room working on my laptop, but also down in the living area and chatting with other guests. I knew there were lots of stairs before I booked and I appreciated the exercise. Such a quaint setting with a bonus of gazing out the window at a castle! If I needed a place to stay in Victoria again, I would definitely return. Heck, I would just go to Victoria for a getaway with my husband and stay there. Vivian goes about doing her job, but always has a friendly hello.
"The Craigmyle is quiet, restful and companionable"
11/16/14 gingerOttawa Ottawa
My step-daughter and her husband and baby stayed a night at the Craigmyle while my husband and I were there. They loved their room, the living room area, and the breakfast and when they had to get a document back home quickly, they were very very grateful to Mireille for scanning it for them. We all went for a walk in the neighbourhood in the morning and found the area delightful....big trees, lovely streets and beautiful homes. The visit was a big success.
