The BnB was a great find! Place was well kept up, right by the Craigdarroch castle. Bathroom was small but updated and the room even hada mini fridge; guest kitchen was great too! Would definitely visit again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Worst bed and breakfast we have stayed in"
We have stashed in B&B from Alaska to San Diego and this was the worst. Same cold breakfast each morning. Very small rooms. Can't recommend.Genuine Expedia guest review
"right next to Craigmyle castle"
Very nice condition. Stairs a probem with luggage, but if someones around they are only too happy to carry it for you. Very nice breakfast with quality fruit, cereal, pastries etc. Free use of laundry. About 15 min. walk to downtown and bus if available also.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Craigmyle is a historical inn with lots of character. The room seemed clean but was very small and choppy. There was a wide variety of foods at breakfast. Many amenities were available that we could not take advantage of such as laundry, food storage, and computer use. A beautiful castle is located next door.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

I Very appreciate Good breakfest (fresh fruit) Clean simple good service.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice hotel in nice neighborhood"
The hotel was easy to find. It had only street parking, but we had no trouble finding a space. It is an old rooming house that has been refurbished with great bathrooms and lovely rooms. There is a full kitchen for your use at any time. While the staff were very responsive, there was no one there to help with luggage when we arrived. We ended up leaving […] our big bags in the car because we could not take them up the two long flights of stairs. Also, the continental breakfast consisted of cold cereal, store-bought bagels and pastries. The good stuff was the yogurt and fresh fruit. All in all, we'd stay there again. "Beautiful Place to Stay!"
We loved Staying at the Craigmyle - the only issue we encountered were people not obeying the posted signs on the street. There we many people parking in the residential spots while taking in the Castle tours. That did not leave us space to park our vehicle.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lack of Basic Amenities"
We've travelled all over the world and say to each other, "Oh, Oh, it's French". We find that French-heritage establishments are big on "little nic-nacs", but short on basic amenities, like Kleenex tissues, a coffee-maker, a TV, a convenient electrical outlet, etc., etc., etc.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice stay"
Very comfortable room and pleasant hosts. Good breakfast too. Located in a nice neighborhood but a long walk or 10.00 taxi ride into town.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming and Tranquil"
We enjoyed our stay at the Craigmyle very much. The bed was extremely comfortable, the castle view was enchanting, the location was beautiful and peaceful and the breakfast was delicious and healthy. The only critique we have is that they need to repair or replace the blinds in our room. They weren't working very well, so we needed to wear sleeping […] masks to get some rest. "Ups and Downs, Like a good Roller-Coaster."
Teeny room with real wallpaper and deep carpe, neither pristine but lovely, anyway. Bathroom is tiled from floor to ceiling, but caulking is mildewed. No phone, clock, radio, or tv, so silence is golden! Hot water rad, 2-prong plugs, and Edison-era light switch, but silence. Loveliest of breakfasts, with French jam, peanut butter as natural as silence, […] rich Danishes, croissants and breads, and a stunning view of a castle from the dining room. There are scores of mansions all around, the Government grounds and House at the corner, and quiet all over. Imagine: residents pad around in socks and slippers... silence in a heavenly old mansion, 20 meters from a castle! Quietly respected as Victoria's best bargain. "A pleasant B&B"
The Craigmyle was very convenient to the locations we were visiting. As a bed and breakfast it was excellent. The only problem was the number of stairs that had to be negotiated. The Innkeeper was very friendly and accommodating.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This was a fantastic bed & breakfast experience for us - everything from our bedroom to the common areas to the breakfast spread to the quiet neighborhood it is set in. The staff was able to make a recommendation on entertainment for an evening out (on a Monday no less) and directed us to a local comedy night. When we returned there was a warm fire […] with soft classical music playing. Out our window we had a view of the beautiful Craigdarroch Castle which we toured the next day. (It's lit by night, make sure you take a look!) We only stayed one night, but we will definitely return on our next trip to Victoria! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"I didn't want to leave."
I thoroughly enjoyed The Craigmyle. It is such a pleasant place to stay. The breakfast was wonderful. My room was great; the bed was comfortable and the linens very nice. Lovely guesthouse with lots of charm. Updates in the bathroom very well done and consistent with style of guesthouse. I loved the benefit of being able to open the windows for fresh air. The neighbourhood is quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was self- serve with lots of fresh fruit and other options. All in all a very pleasant stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Craigmyle is one of those places that feels like visiting Grandma's, maybe a bit worn in places but very comfortable and comforting. The owners have definitely brought it up to date in certain areas - a kitchen area and new showers come to mind but the charm is its old feel. If you like glitzy and modern, don't stay here but if you've time to smell […] the roses and enjoy life in the slow lane go to the Craigmyle. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Great old guest house that backs onto Craigdarrack Castle. Great amenities with free wi-fi, free access to the laundry, phone , kitchen and lounge area. Breakfast was great with plenty to choose from. There are 3 floors to this old boarding house so if you don't want to carry your bags up flights of stairs, this place is not for you. "a real home away from home"
The house was beuatifullu and thoughfully decorated with unostentious good taste, with an eye for comfort, both in the bedroom occupied, and in the public areas. the house managers, Tony and Paul, couldn't have been more helpful and friendly; in short, the place ias a gem if you value a good night's sleep slightly away from the downtown buzz.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Super cute B&B"
I booked this because it said it was only 1.6km to DT Victoria but its more like 5km. No problem if you have a car, i was on bike. Breakfast was great! Antique old house with new updated rooms. Although my room was very small. Nice Friendly owner.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by The Craigmyle Thank you so much for your review. We truly appreciate it your comments. We are 1.6 km from the corner of Fort & Douglas which is the core of downtown where Cactus Club Restaurant is located and the Bay Centre and the Royal Bank. The distance was googled on map quest to provide accurate information especially for those who wish to walk. It's a 20-25 minute walk. I love the walk myself since it's just down Fort Street. Walking back to the Craigmyle, up Fort Street, is a bit harder as you will be going up a small progressive hill, but very subtle. Thanks for your comments about the house. Not all rooms have been renovated, we are half way there. Thanks so much for staying with us! And thank you so much for taking the time to write a review!

"Comfy accommodation close to the Castle"
We spent two days in May at the Craigmyle. This B&B is in a large house abutting the stunning Craigdarroch Castle in a nice area of Victoria. Response by The Craigmyle Thank you so much for your comments and your understanding of the renovations during your stay. It's hard for us to upgrade all the rooms as we are pretty full year round. We did stop for July & August & September and will resume with the remaining rooms in the fall. It will be better since all the hallways are done now. We will only do one room at a time and this should be less disruptive. Thank you for your comments about the breakfast! Glad to hear that you enjoyed it as well as the rest of the house! Again, many thanks for your comments and being so pleasant about the renovations! Sincerely Mireille
This was my first use of a "Guest House" and I was a little worried about maintaining my privacy. I was very pleased with the feeling of privacy. Breakfast area was spacious and therefore I was able to enjoy my coffee with other persons conversations in "the background." The Craigmyle is a very clean and tidy place. The breakfast is superb and the interior beautiful and the athmosphere filled with warmth. The staff was friendly and helpful. "Beautiful, friendly and comfortable!"

We had a great time staying here whilst visiting from Europe. Lovely people and a beautiful property! Close enough to walk into Victoria centre (20 minutes), so no problem going out for a pint or two. Would recommend and use again! I would like a hot breakfast though, but that's just me :)
"Why would you stay anywhere else in Victoria?"
01/21/15 Ljudd Vernon, British Columbia, Canada
If you are visiting Victoria and you want the "Full English" experience, you cannot do better than The Craigmyle. A proper English manor house, complete with original stained glass and leaded windows, classic over-stuffed super-comfy furniture in the common rooms and a location second to none (you are in the back yard of a CASTLE - does not get more Victorian than that ;-) The utterly authentic charm of the house is priceless - always a copy of the latest edition of the newspaper in the drawing room, the fireplace is glowing and welcoming, streaming jazz music floats through the common areas, and there's always a kettle ready to make a cup of tea whenever the mood strikes you. A calm and timeless oasis in a busy world -particularly well-located if you are visiting someone at Royal Jubilee Hospital, too. The Innkeeper Vivian is pleasant and helpful without being intrusive. In fact, throughout our stay, we didn't have much interaction with our hosts unless we had a question or needed something - a very pleasant level of privacy. The cost of staying at The Craigmyle is comparable to an Air BNB, but with none of the involved, obligatory (and often far-too-lengthy) interactions with the hosts. Now, as all the promotional material will remind you, there are stairs to get to basically everywhere at Craigmyle - so if stairs are a problem, this isn't the B & B for you. Another thing to note is that a house of this era does not have every "modern appurtenance", so if you simply must have an legion of plugs for hair appliances, an overstocked mini-bar and a zillion channels on a flat screen TV, you're probably not a "Craigmyle" kind of person. But we were - staying at Craigmyle was the jewel in our 5-day stay in Victoria. I would recommend Craigmyle to any of my friends, and I would stay there again in a heartbeat. I would, however, not particularly recommend it for families with young or even young teenage children - it's really more of a grown-up place. And one I look forward to visiting again. :-)
"Charming Bed and Breakfast Next to a Castle"
01/16/15 henrizepp Maryland
Before arriving I felt like a very special guest with welcoming emails outlining every detail one would need to know. The interior of this historic four story building surprises at every turn with special details - beautiful leaded glass windows, crown moldings, beautiful light fixtures, a rain shower, comfortable beds, hard wood and ceramic tile floors, a cozy common area with a fire burning in the fireplace, a delightful eating area for the ample complimentary breakfast. There is a kitchen for guests, laundry, computers, printers, free parking, free WiFi, free phone calls to the US. Snacks and drinks are available. The Craigmyle is conveniently located to downtown and is next to the Craigdarroch Castle in a beautiful residential neighborhood. Staff are friendly and helpful. It is a perfect place to stay!
"Historic, Charming & Central"
01/15/15 Jane M Chemainus, Canada
Can recommend highly. Absolutely lovely - common room, dining room, guest room - could not have asked for better. Sensitive and well-done renovations. Little guest kitchen is a real bonus if you want to make yourself a light lunch or snack. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. Steps to bus to downtown or Royal Jubilee hospital if you don't want to pay for parking and don't mind the walk. And the castle right behind! Not for anyone with mobility issues - lots of stairs.
"A Warm Wecome"
01/08/15 Richard S Victoria Capital Regional District, Canada
We have just spent ten days at the delightful Craigmyle B & B located next door to Craigdarrock Castle and recommend it highly. This unique, historical guesthouse provides small, but comfortable bedroom facilities with ensuite bathroom. There is a large, cosy sitting room for guests plus cooking and laundry facilities. The breakfast were plentiful and delicious, with a wide choice of cereals, fruits, cheese plus a selections of pastries and breads with preserves. It was obvious that the owners are in the midst of renovation but this did nothing to deter from our stay!
"Bob's Roller-Coaster Review"
12/31/14 bobsolomon Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Tops: neighborhood is one of the most stunning in Victoria, with scores of stately mansions, the rich green grounds of Government House, and an imposing stone "castle" all just meters away. Tops: Craigmyle's own Edwardian beauty, in particular its impeccable kitchen, spacious, comfortable living room and window-rich dining room. Tops: breakfast, included, featuring fresh berries from local farms, even the elusive Saskatoonberry, natural peanut butter made entirely from peanuts, French jams, excellent coffee, rich pastries, and fresh croissants, bagels, and healthy breads. Tops: sparkling white crockery, willow-pattern tea cups, and excellent cutlery. Quiet unto soundlessness from appreciative guests who walk in stocking feet or slippers. No tv, radios, or clocks in bedrooms. S-i-l-e-n-c-e! Oops, downhill: cramped bedrooms, cramping mattresses in some rooms, squeak-a-lot floors, sloping stair treads, 2-prong ancient, worn outlets, sinks a few feet from beds, and light switches from Edison's waste basket. Way oops:Watch for slippery stone steps outside, especially when it's wet (every day), and bring your own bathroom drinking cup. There's no apparent sprinkler system, hot water radiators (yep!) get warmish, bathroom, while tiled in gorgeous contrasting navy blue and white tile from the floors and walls to ceiling, has scary black goop on tub's white caulking -- just like Grandmother's bathroom had. No phones, radios, clocks, tv in bedrooms. Like hers. Back to tops: Admission to this combination of grandmother's huge old home and holiday roller coaster roller-coaster in heavenly settings is wonderfully low-priced, so, we'd swallow and visit it again! We'd bring slippers and a quiet plastic cup. Already I miss the silence, the mansions, the peanut butter and Saskatoonberries.
"Historic and Cozy"
12/17/14 linda358 Salmon Arm, Canada
We enjoyed our 3 night stay at this unique guesthouse. Although our room was small, the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had been completely renovated. The shared common areas are very inviting, as is the gourmet continental breakfast provided. For guests who wish to prepare their other meals, there is a well-appointed kitchen. Breakfast room has a lovely view of Craigdarroch Castle. This lodging is not really close to downtown, but we knew that before we booked. The innkeeper is friendly and helpful.
"Very Relaxing, Nice Folks"
12/12/14 Bruce J Jewell, Iowa
Rooms are a bit tight, but nicely furnished, clean and comfortable. Renovations are apparently being undertaken and, when finished, the ambiance will be even better. Public areas (sitting area, dining area etc.) are comfortable and charming. Breakfast choices were excellent (cereals, berries, muffins, toast, etc) and it was fun visiting with other guests during breakfast. Located in a neat, well-maintained residential area, adjacent to historic Craigdarroch Castle, which is open for tours and very much worth seeing. Within walking distance of downtown Victoria, though it's a bit of a trek (9 or 10 blocks). Parking is on the street and it can be a bit of a challenge finding a space. Not handicap accessible: many steep stairs, and most guest rooms are on 2nd or 3rd floors. Laundry facilities on site at no extra charge: very convenient. Owners were away on vacation while we were there, but the live-in caretakers did an excellent job of taking care of us. Would definitely stay there again!
"Cosy Period Accommodation"

Comfortable and cosy room with wonderful period furniture. Well located and I have always wanted to live in that area of Victoria ever since I was born and brought up in the city. Innkeeper friendly and wifi accesible. Did miss a phone in my room for more privacy. Price unbeatable.
"Nice, but not amazing"
12/11/14 Aaron M Portland, Oregon
First, I should say that if you want to be close to Craigdarroch Castle, this is about as close as you can get without hiding out IN the castle. The views are very nice, if you have a room with a view, and they light up the castle at night, so it really is quite pretty. It's not very close to any other attractions, but it is a good place if for nothing else than to walk around the castle at night. The common areas of the house are comfortable. There are a couple couches and there are tables and chairs for breakfast. They have a computer that guests can use to check email or look up directions. They also have a printer, which is nice so that we could print directions. They rent bicycles, but they did not have any available when we stayed. The room was comfortable. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. There was enough hot water for showers. There was not air conditioning in the room, but the temperature was moderate enough that that wasn't an issue. The breakfast was a little above average. There were homemade waffles with real maple syrup that we heated up in the toaster. There were cereals and yogurts. There was juice, milk, coffee, tea. And there were a number of pastries available. The owner (I forgot his name! Sorry!) was very polite and helpful. He gave us dinner advice and had us feeling right at home.
