"Great weekend getaway!"
The BnB was a great find! Place was well kept up, right by the Craigdarroch castle. Bathroom was small but updated and the room even hada mini fridge; guest kitchen was great too! Would definitely visit again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"right next to Craigmyle castle"
Very nice condition. Stairs a probem with luggage, but if someones around they are only too happy to carry it for you. Very nice breakfast with quality fruit, cereal, pastries etc. Free use of laundry. About 15 min. walk to downtown and bus if available also.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Craigmyle is a historical inn with lots of character. The room seemed clean but was very small and choppy. There was a wide variety of foods at breakfast. Many amenities were available that we could not take advantage of such as laundry, food storage, and computer use. A beautiful castle is located next door.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice hotel in nice neighborhood"
The hotel was easy to find. It had only street parking, but we had no trouble finding a space. It is an old rooming house that has been refurbished with great bathrooms and lovely rooms. There is a full kitchen for your use at any time. While the staff were very responsive, there was no one there to help with luggage when we arrived. We ended up leaving […] our big bags in the car because we could not take them up the two long flights of stairs. Also, the continental breakfast consisted of cold cereal, store-bought bagels and pastries. The good stuff was the yogurt and fresh fruit. All in all, we'd stay there again. "Beautiful Place to Stay!"
We loved Staying at the Craigmyle - the only issue we encountered were people not obeying the posted signs on the street. There we many people parking in the residential spots while taking in the Castle tours. That did not leave us space to park our vehicle.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lack of Basic Amenities"
We've travelled all over the world and say to each other, "Oh, Oh, it's French". We find that French-heritage establishments are big on "little nic-nacs", but short on basic amenities, like Kleenex tissues, a coffee-maker, a TV, a convenient electrical outlet, etc., etc., etc.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice stay"
Very comfortable room and pleasant hosts. Good breakfast too. Located in a nice neighborhood but a long walk or 10.00 taxi ride into town.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming and Tranquil"
We enjoyed our stay at the Craigmyle very much. The bed was extremely comfortable, the castle view was enchanting, the location was beautiful and peaceful and the breakfast was delicious and healthy. The only critique we have is that they need to repair or replace the blinds in our room. They weren't working very well, so we needed to wear sleeping […] masks to get some rest. Lovely guesthouse with lots of charm. Updates in the bathroom very well done and consistent with style of guesthouse. I loved the benefit of being able to open the windows for fresh air. The neighbourhood is quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was self- serve with lots of fresh fruit and other options. All in all a very pleasant stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The comforter on the bed was not clean and the pillows were very thin and uncomfortable. Bed itself was comfortable. Good coffee at breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"a real home away from home"
The house was beuatifullu and thoughfully decorated with unostentious good taste, with an eye for comfort, both in the bedroom occupied, and in the public areas. the house managers, Tony and Paul, couldn't have been more helpful and friendly; in short, the place ias a gem if you value a good night's sleep slightly away from the downtown buzz.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"loved the area.."
The mini suite was perfect for one person, quiet and restful. It was only a 7 minute walk to Gov. House Gardens and then another 20 min. to Fairfield Plaza and the ocean. I would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Super cute B&B"
I booked this because it said it was only 1.6km to DT Victoria but its more like 5km. No problem if you have a car, i was on bike. Breakfast was great! Antique old house with new updated rooms. Although my room was very small. Nice Friendly owner.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by The Craigmyle Thank you so much for your review. We truly appreciate it your comments. We are 1.6 km from the corner of Fort & Douglas which is the core of downtown where Cactus Club Restaurant is located and the Bay Centre and the Royal Bank. The distance was googled on map quest to provide accurate information especially for those who wish to walk. It's a 20-25 minute walk. I love the walk myself since it's just down Fort Street. Walking back to the Craigmyle, up Fort Street, is a bit harder as you will be going up a small progressive hill, but very subtle. Thanks for your comments about the house. Not all rooms have been renovated, we are half way there. Thanks so much for staying with us! And thank you so much for taking the time to write a review!

"Home away from Home"
We had a wonderful stay at the Craigmyle. The location is quiet and close to the castle and Government House gardens. Our room was very comfortable. The sitting room was lovely and the breakfast room is very sunny and welcoming. The breakfast is very generous. The guests have use of the kitchen the rest of the day, which can be handy. Our hosts were […] very friendly and helpful. We will stay here again! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

We spent alot of our leisure time at the Guest House, as it was very comfortable inside and out. Travelling about Victoria was very easy, as the location is perfectly central. "Comfy accommodation close to the Castle"
We spent two days in May at the Craigmyle. This B&B is in a large house abutting the stunning Craigdarroch Castle in a nice area of Victoria. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, however the building we undergoing some renovations, which we assumption will be only a temporation disruption. The breakfast was "full continental" and we did not go hungry. The […] common kitchen was a great asset. We enjoyed the quiet sitting room and use of the computer on a few occassions. Overall a very pleasant stay! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by The Craigmyle Thank you so much for your comments and your understanding of the renovations during your stay. It's hard for us to upgrade all the rooms as we are pretty full year round. We did stop for July & August & September and will resume with the remaining rooms in the fall. It will be better since all the hallways are done now. We will only do one room at a time and this should be less disruptive. Thank you for your comments about the breakfast! Glad to hear that you enjoyed it as well as the rest of the house! Again, many thanks for your comments and being so pleasant about the renovations! Sincerely Mireille
This was my first use of a "Guest House" and I was a little worried about maintaining my privacy. I was very pleased with the feeling of privacy. Breakfast area was spacious and therefore I was able to enjoy my coffee with other persons conversations in "the background." Because it is an older building sound between rooms is what can be expected, however […] the sounds were not disruptive as there are no TVs blaring. all in all a great stay and I will return. "Thanksgiving at the Craigmyle!"

We had a wonderful week at the Craigmyle! The staff was very friendly and provided a lovely continental breakfast each morning! The location is very handy for walking downtown, to Cook St. We love the location as it was close to my daughters and we could walk to their place in no time! Would highly recommend The Craigmyle!

We enjoyed 2 days and nights here. The innkeepers where very informative, helpful, everything one would want and more than I have ever had at a B&B. The location is very convenient and the neighborhood is a wonderful place to walk early in the AM. I encourage anyone looking for a lovely stay in Victoria to stay here
"Quaint and lovely place...but not for everyone"
10/01/14 KristenFromCalgary Calgary
The Craigmyle is a beautiful old home with the picturesque Craigdarroch Castle almost in the backyard. It has many really great amenities, such as a kitchen that is available to all guests, free laundry facilities, free calling to anywhere in North America, free wifi, readily available Apple computers, etc. Paul, the caretaker is the nicest guy -- very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and pretty, but very small. There is a lovely big front room with big old sofas. For the price it was really great and I would definitely stay there again! Now for the caveats you need to be aware of before booking because, as much as we liked it, The Craigmyle will not be suitable for everyone. 1. Yes, there are stairs...several. There are stairs outside on the way in and then more inside. We were on the third floor so we had a bit of a climb, no problem for my husband and I, but it could be an issue for others. It is NOT handicap accessible! 2. This is a big, old home so the room sizes vary greatly. Our room was probably the smallest one. It was basically just a queen size bed with just enough room to walk around it, there was a small room with a toilet and sink behind the bed on one side and the shower on the other side (yes, we had to walk around the bed to get from the restroom to the shower). We peeked in a few of the other rooms when they were being cleaned and they were all bigger than ours, by varying degrees. We missed having a place to sit and relax in the room so next time we will request a larger room when booking. 3. Breakfast is plentiful with lots of healthy, organic offerings and some delicious indulgences. However, it really is a strictly continental breakfast with plenty of carbs but very little protein. Being hypoglycemic I found that it just didn't work for me. The first day I had toast with lots of peanut butter and some plain yogurt, which mostly works with my hypoglycemia, but is too repetitive for four days. I therefore opted to go out for breakfast for the rest of the stay. However, for most people this wouldn't be a problem, I'm sure. (And, had I felt like it, I probably could have just made myself an egg in the kitchen...) 4. It is a very self-serve establishment. No one makes up the room and you put the towels you want replaced outside in a bag on the door and they will put new, clean ones in the bag and leave them on the door for you when you return. I would assume the same thing would work with the garbage, but ours just stayed in the room the whole time and was not emptied (just paper waste so it wasn't a problem). But as mentioned earlier, Paul was very helpful so I'm sure you would just have to ask if you needed anything done in the room. Personally, I liked that we had so much privacy. 5. And finally: The bed...Oh the bed! It was a futon... Either you like them or you don't, I'm in the latter category. I'm going to my chiropractor today! :-( 'Nuff said! So all in all, I really liked The Craigmyle and will definitely consider staying there again (despite the futon...), but not everyone is going to feel the same.
"Lovely B & B"
09/26/14 Pat H White Rock
We were delighted upon opening the door to our room at The Craigmyle. It was bright, clean & tastefully decorated. We received a warm welcome from Paul, the caretaker, and when we later requested a fan for the room, he immediately provided one. Paul was extremely accommodating & helpful in offering suggestions for the enjoyment of the city. We never had any problem parking on the street in front of the B & B. The breakfast area was also bright, very clean and well stocked. I highly recommend a stay at the Craigmyle! As the Craigdarroch castle is virtually in the back yard, we enjoyed our visit to this interesting tourist attraction.
We've appreciated the kindliness of the owners before and during our stay. The old mansion nearby worth the visit and Victoria town is a very nice town. From the guesthouse is not a long distance but in our case we've got the car and the distance to the harbour and main attractions was'n been a problem
"Dirty and not hospitable, don't go there."

Went to this B&B because Trip Advisor gave it good ratings. We entered the property and found it was up on the side of a hill and had to climb about 15 stairs to reach the property. No parking on the property. You needed to find a place in the street. The outside of the property was not well maintained, not attractive. There was no one there to greet us, arrived about 3PM. Found our rooms on the third floor, another 30 stairs. The carpet on the stairs was dirty and the banisters were just as bad, all beat up and scared. Arriving at our rooms, we found the duvets so dirty we removed them from the beds. The floor in our room was old, the wood scared, and uneven. My wife hurt her toe on the elevation difference between the main room and the bath. The bath was redone and the flooring never correctly finished. This property has absentee owners, always a bad sign for a B&B, as the people maintaining the property had little interest in the guests or providing help with luggage up all those stairs. There is no daily room service.

Beautiful B&B in Victoria. Located next to the castle. Attentive and kind hosts. Delicious continental breakfast. Drank coffee and enjoyed many GMO-free options and local breads/preserves while enjoying the view of the castle. A bit of a walk to the downtown area, but not terrible. We enjoy walking.

Courteous, ambience was gracious, peaceful, and continental style breakfast was completely and fresh. Would stay again. Nicely maintained house with historical Castle landmark right next door. Easy public transport available.
"Visited twice in one summer."
09/13/14 Westcoastfun St. Catharines, Canada
We needed a place to staying when visiting our daughter earlier in the summer and then we returned in September for her wedding. Mireille was very helpful both times accommodating our personal needs on each occasion. The Craigmyle has so much to offer. We took advantage of the guest kitchen, bike and car rentals, use of the computer, printer and laundry facilities. The inn keepers were also very helpful and interested in our personal needs. It is in a beautiful neighbourhood and so close to many attractions. We enjoyed our morning coffee in the living room or the front porch as well as our breakfast in the sunny dining room. Now it feels like our home away from home when we are in Victoria
"An enjoyable stay at the Craigmyle"
09/08/14 Kim P Edmonton, Canada
I recently stayed in the mini-suite which was adorable. It had everything I needed including a fully equipped little kitchenette and television. It was tastefully decorated in a modern decore and the bed was comfortable. Paul and Tom, the Innkeepers were friendly and helpful and were very accommodating when my husband joined me later. It is a great location to downtown, whether walking or taking the bus and about a 20 minute bus ride to U-Vic. We really enjoyed seeing the amazing castle out the window while we ate our delicious breakfast. I arrived early and was able to leave my bags in the room while it got cleaned. As well, our flight left in the evening and we were able to store our bags in the house after we checked out. It's a very beautiful house with lots of character and was amazing being so close to the castle! Mierelle, the owner was also very nice to deal with. It was so easy too renting a car at the Craigmyle and affordable.
