"Great boutique hotel right on the beach!"
My husband and I celebrated our 10th anniversary in Barbados and could not have made a better choice than the Soco hotel. The staff was attentive and genuinely friendly and personable. One night when my husband's relatives came to visit us Christine made a point of coming over and introducing herself and talking with them. The food was incredible as […] well. Always hot and flavorful and a varied menu every day. We would stay here again in a heartbeat! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent All-Inclusive Hotel"
SoCo is a great experience. Amazingly friendly staff, quiet, beautiful beach. The food and drinks were all great. My only less than perfect experience was the air conditioning in our room. Our room never cooled down as much as I would have liked, so sleeping was not the most comfortable. But, overall we loved our stay and would return.Genuine Expedia guest review
Great staff, good food, so relaxing! We really liked the decor and the room had lots of storage. Good spot to take a dip in the sea, or walk the beach or boardwalk. Many amenities within walking distance. Intimate atmosphere, personalized service. We'd return in a heartbeat!

[…] "Simply the best!"

Everything about this hotel is wonderful.... All The staff are first class - everyone looks after you so well and make you feel very special. If you want to book trips and activities superstar Michele has you covered. The food is excellent. The cocktails are delicious. We stayed in a delux room and thought it well worth the extra cost - our view was amazing and we had tons of space. The location can't be beaten. This was our second visit to Soco and we were not disappointed - if anything the restaurant had improved. We love it so much - we've already booked for next year!
"Finally found a great all-inclusive hotel in Barbados!"

Once you've enjoyed all-inclusive holidays, it's hard to go back. But the choice of destinations is more limited (i.e. mainly Mexico, Cuba, Jamaica & Dominican Republic). We'd been searching for a great all-inclusive in Barbados, and finally found it at the SoCo Hotel. It's a wonderful boutique hotel located steps from a good beach with blue and turquoise water, and even turtles and colourful fish to swim with. Don't expect a large, sprawling hotel with numerous restaurants. The hotel is small and intimate (about 25 rooms) with one restaurant. But this is by no means a disadvantage. On the contrary, it makes it easier to meet other guests. Guests were mostly from the UK with a few from Canada and the US. The ambience is peaceful, relaxed and friendly. Although there is only one restaurant, the menu changes every second day. The food is a real draw at the SoCo. The menu includes both Bajan and international favourites, and the food tastes like good home cooking. If you like fish, you won't be disappointed. We enjoyed fresh flying fish, mahi mahi and tuna, among others. And the house wines are really good. Our room was at the pool level. At first, we were disappointed, given the view was not as spectacular as in other rooms. And we later found out many guests had refused a pool level room. But as it turns out, this was a great location! In fact, should we return to the SoCo, we would request the same location. Here are a few reasons why we liked it so much. The room is very quiet at night: once the bar closes at 11 pm, you don't hear any noise from the street. The wifi works very well which is not the case in all the rooms. And the convenience of being able to easily return to the room during the day without using the stairs (there is no elevator) is a real advantage. We were glad not to be constantly using the public washrooms by the pool as so many people did and to be able to easily retrieve things we needed from our room. In addition to the hotel's wonderful features, it should be mentioned that the surrounding area is also an asset. The hotel is located right in the town of Hastings, by the boardwalk, within walking distance of numerous stores, restaurants, etc. And a tourist can feel safe walking around, which is not the case on other islands such as Jamaica and Dominican Republic. The locals are polite and pleasant. We even took the bus a few times including to Bridgetown (20 minutes from the hotel). If you are looking for a great all-inclusive hotel in Barbados with a low-key atmosphere and friendly and efficient staff, look no further!
"Good things/bad things"

First the bad news: the hotel rooms show wear and are definitely in need of painting, a deep cleaning and refurbishment. Both our of party's rooms had tiny bugs on the countertops (they were NOT bed bugs) and my shower walls were not clean. The toiletries were ONE bar of soap, two lotions and one shampoo--not even high end. It was difficult to get a chair and umbrella on the very small beach (which is public). There is definitely street noise. But I could have forgiven all of these except I learned from talking with several other guests that I paid over twice as much as they did. I spoke with the manager, Christine, who said the owner, Taylor, said the only relief he would offer is a "possible discount" on a future stay. Serious matter: two rooms on the second floor near the parking lot end were entered in the middle of the night as the guests slept and burgled. I see from a previous writeup that this also occurred in 2013, and another guest during our stay said it happened when he was here during the same week in 2014. Good news: Barbados is absolutely beautiful. The restaurant's food was delicious, even though the ingredients were repeated often. I assume that's because food that is not indigenous must be flown in and expensive. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we liked that the hotel appeared to attract adults/couples rather than children. One of our party had a birthday during our week, and they made it special with a decorated table and cake. I will definitely return to Barbados (in fact we are planning a May trip there); however, it is doubtful that I will return to Soco. Had Mr. Taylor provided relief on this trip, he would have had a loyal visitor for life. I travel frequently.

We enjoyed our stays and the location and the staff really make this hotel. Lots of the staff were the same as last year and we would like to thank them all for making us feel so at home and ensuring we enjoyed our stay. If you have any requests, talk to the staff and they will do what they can to sort it out. Michelle does the orientation and will advise re where to go, trips, book things for you and sort anything and everything you need. Location - we enjoyed our time on the Boardwalk and the lagoon beach. It's good to be able to walk to Lanterns and Quayside shops. Food - great and all Al a carte. They will change things on menu to accommodate. Lots of choice and all good. We were happy with food last year but even better this year. Menu now includes more choices, changes more regularly and includes more local food. We also enjoyed eating out at Oistins, Ackee tree (roti), Just Grillin' (jerk chicken) and Champers (birthday and Valentines Meals). Bar - Erleen, Shannon and Karen looked after us well and there was a consistent supply of mint for mojitos, Banks beer and Mount Gay Rum. Getting out and about - We went on Reggae Buses to get around locally. We also had a car and went to West Coast chattel house village shops, Earthworks pottery, St Nicholas Abbey and Cherry Tree Hill. Never got to Lancaster Great House which was recommended - next time............. Any issues at Soco? - more sunbeds are needed as on days when majority of guests stay at hotel there were not enough to accommodate everyone. During our stay we found this was more/less of an issue depending on guests. First week - the guests were reserving beds on beach by putting their bags on spots before beds were put out and then things seemed to change and pool was more popular. It seemed that if people started putting towels out early before breakfast, others followed suit. We saw people put towels out and not sit on beds for hours and it was positive when we saw the hotel deal with this. Hopefully when there are more beds and guests are confident they will get one, people won't feel need to reserve a bed until they are ready to use it. Hope to return in 2016 but Tropical Sky have hiked their prices so waiting at moment. Thank you again to all at Soco and we hope to see you again soon. Happy to answer any questions........
"Lived up to it's reviews."

My husband and I have just returned from a very relaxing stay at Soco. We were greeted with big smiles and rum punch (though no flannels like I saw some other new arrivals get) check in was quick and easy. Then shown to our lovely room with a priceless view of the ocean, big comfy bed and great air con. Our room was cleaned well every day and always given fresh towels for room and beach every day. The first night we had cocktails and they brought round trays of Bajan food to try- all very yummy. The food at the hotel was good. They could defiantly improve their desserts and offer more than one vegi choice though. Other than that. Delicious. The cocktails are soooo good. Ilene makes the best Piña coladas. All staff super nice- though the men weren't the best. When in the restaurants should try to smile. No wifi in the room- though Chrisitine said it's because you shouldn't be online in your room ;) Michelle is fab! Set us up on a wonderful catermaran trip. Thanks Soco. I give 4 out of 5 as a few things could be improved but other than that Perfect!

We've just returned from a 2 week stay at the SoCo Hotel and loved every moment. Situated in a perfect spot, 2-3 paces from the beach and the boardwalk. Good food, and wonderfully attentive staff made this a perfect holiday. Not being a very confident swimmer, I had no problem swimming in the safe 'lagoon' area by the hotel. We will definitely be returning.
"Superb beach front location"
02/13/15 bucsal Marlow, England
We really enjoyed our stay at the SoCo and can only agree with the many positive reviews. The highlights for us were the superb beach front location, stunning views from our room, individually prepared food, great customer service all wrapped up in a very relaxed Caribbean atmosphere. And, of course, we could not fail to mention the outstanding Michelle (aka the happiness manager), who greeted everyone with warmth and enthusiasm every day. The General Manager, Christine, even took the time to thank us for staying when we dropped off our bags in reception on our last day, which was a very nice touch to round off our holiday. This is a very good hotel but there were a few things that could be improved: our bathroom (405) was starting to look a bit tired with chipped and cracked tiles in the shower area, not enough sun loungers on the beach, particularly after lunch, where empty beds covered with towels demonstrated the one-hour empty bed policy was blatantly ignored. And finally a warning to light sleepers as you will not be able to ignore traffic noise in the morning from Reggae bus drivers who sound their air horns at every opportunity! However, our lasting memory will be the amazing sunsets whilst enjoying pre-dinner drinks with friends at the bar. We will definitely return for a second innings next year.
"So nearly returning"

Not wanting to repeat all the wonderful comments previously posted but I must add my praise also, along with absolutely not a single complaint about the hotel and it's amazing staff who made our three weeks stay special. Thanks to everyone. The guests though, during our last few days claiming all the beds on the beach by 07:45 with not a single person on them (except us) was a little frustrating especially when one guy reappeared at eleven and took the towels away. All Brits as well. Some even claimed the sand before the beds went out (see photos). But for a relaxing break with great staff very hard to beat. 21 nights is a long time as this particular hotel as it is so quiet once newly acquired friends leave but it does deliver great service in a modern clean hotel. To ALL the staff and we do mean everyone, thanks again but unfortunately when we tried to book for 2016 we found Tropical Sky quoted £1300 more and that was without private car transfer, lounge at Manchester and room upgrade which we had this year. We refused that so the price dropped by £500 which was still not acceptable, £800 for the same holiday with less add on’s, it just felt like someone was ripping us off. So sadly we will not meet all the wonderful staff again and have booked elsewhere, where there has been no price hike but ironically we are still paying over £7k but feel this is a genuine £7k rather than we can fill the place so let’s charge more.
"Fantastic Stay at the Soco - we will definitely be returning!!"
02/11/15 LaurenS1985 London, United Kingdom
We stayed at the Soco Hotel for a week in January 2015. We had a fantastic stay and are already looking to book to return next year!! The hotel was lovely with a great spot on the beach, the food was good, the bar had a great variety of drinks and the staff were all really friendly. As this is a small boutique style hotel it meant that everyone got to know each other really well so it was a very sociable hotel experience if you wanted it to be. During our trip we went on a Catamaran trip that Michelle arranged for us which we would definitely recommend along with dinner at Champers! We will definitely be returning next year.
"Second visit no regrets"
02/06/15 Pauline526 Guildford, United Kingdom
We have just returned from this lovely hotel after a two week stay this is the second visit for us and it hadn't changed. Most of the staff were still there and they all remembered us which made us feel right at home. While we were there we met up with 6 other couples that had also returned to stay again so we had a great reunion. The hotel is in such a lovely spot right on the beach the food was lovely and the menu was changed every few days. The sunsets from the patio or your balcony were amazing. It's safe to walk out during the day, either up the board walk or along the beach so your not hemmed in. The turtles this year kept popping up right where we were swimming in front of the hotel. If you want a relaxing, friendly, small, clean, beachfront hotel then this is for you but keep it to yourself as we want to return again next year.
