"OK if you are stuck :)"
Cant comment in general, but we were unfortunately there during water maintenance, meaning jackhammer noise throughout day hours, putrid water smell in the showers, and no cold water. Staff were sweet, but completely passive and actually tried to charge double what it is in much more beautiful places closer to the beach for our second night . Bizarre. […] We went and found somewhere prettier, much closer to the funky hotels on the beach in the same street for much less than this one. ;) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
This is a must if you go to Bali. Location, food, price, ambiance, staff, pool and etc were all above my expectations.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I stayed at VB for about 2 weeks and had the apt next to the pool. Everything was perfect, i literally felt at home. The staff, the apartments, the location, the ambiance and the pool were outstanding. I would highly recommend staying there while in Bali. You are in an upscale neighborhood for an excellent price. This was my preferred hotel on my 2 […] month travels. I have stayed at 5 star hotels but the personal attention at VB is unique and special and you really feel so comfortable and at home there. Great service, good hotel for the price. It was a little tough to walk around near this hotel because of the lack of sidewalks and abundance of scooters (even though beach and restaurants were short distances), but taxis were very cheap.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Little but beautyful place in busy sheminyak . We stayed in November for 3 nights. And staff was very friendly. And ready to do whatever they can do for your service. Food also excellent .. Pool is bit small but great chill out around pool. First place hotel seems ok ok but as you stay longer u will love it for sure!Genuine Expedia guest review
"the sad zone"
We went from lombok for the last week of our month long holiday. What a mistake, the hotel is situated in the middle of a building site, all roads are dug up and much building taking place. Seminyak is a disaster, avoid.the hotel is poor, the room faults as follows, door hard to lock, balcony only one chair, the towel rail fell off the wall, the fridge […] was frozen up andcould not be closed. The pool seemed to be stained with grime and was not inviting.some group of families had children who were uncontrolled and screamed while the parents sat around talking, the childrenwere not playing just screaming. "Intimate villa, Quiet, Friendly staff"
Villa was spacious and serviced daily. Bit tired, kitchen was unable to be used and smelt dank. Breakfast was ordinary. Staff we're lovely and the setting was very intimate. Very happy with the location as this is a quitter end of Seminyak.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cozy place and lovely ataff"
I enjoyed my stay there. However , the only poblem I had was with the shower mixerwhich was below par, it was near impossible to get the temp right. I had trouble connecting to the wifi on my phone. Otherwise I found the staff just lovely and very helpful!Genuine Expedia guest review
Myself and my partner had an amazing week long stay in Villa Bunga. The location of the hotel was perfect for us, and it was a short stroll to restaurants and bars without being right in the middle of it. The spa is lovely with fabulous treatments for an amazing price. 5 out of the 7 nights we ended up eating in the hotel because the food was so tasty!! […] Really impressed with it. The staff were all smiley, friendly and eager to do anything to help. Highly recommended! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Beautiful hotel with beautiful garden"
PROS: I travelled with my Partner, and we spent there three nights. The hotel was nice but the best part is the garden. We didn't like Kuta Beach or Legian Beach because it was crowded and we were looking for a relaxing holiday, so we spent all our time in the garden and in the pool. Thank you Villa Bunga for this great holiday!!Genuine Expedia guest review

A good value hotel with a villa feel and friendly service. It does however look a little old (specifically the toilets and the pool).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Villa Bunga was situated at a great location, within walking distance to sarong, hu'u bar, potato head, sea circus and even ku de ta (20 mins). The staff were friendly, the room was decent however the bath tub looked old and dirty. However, the room was cheap so you get what you pay for. Wouldnt complain as we were hardly in the room anyway.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice, locally owned hotel"
I had a nice stay at the Villa Bunga Hotel. The rooms were very clean and they have a nice swimming pool. The hotel also has a small restaurant that served an excellent breakfast and lunch. The arrangements that I made to picked up from the airport also worked very smoothly. The hotel is located about a 15 to 20 minute (brisk) walk from the beach. The […] sidewalks on Bali are pretty horrendous and traffic is busy, so most people would probably prefer to take a taxi. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Service impeccable.

Very cozy hotel with a friendly staff. Standard rooms, as you would expect from price. Too bad it's far from the beach, shopping etc, and in a heavily trafficked street.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Our room was clean, spacious and practical. The food at the restaurant is good for a reasonable price (on the pool side, it's great but very noisy on the street side). Staff was very friendly, always ready to help. They understand / speak good English. It's close to many different restaurants.

"A little slice of Paradise"

Our stay at the villa bunga was very enjoyable, the staff were extremely nice and service consistent. We stayed in the standard room, which provided all the features promised. We were especially pleased with the access to free bottled water. The only downside I can possibly think of was the quality of the shower in our room, not very strong at all. But that may have just been our room. All in all it was a pleasant stay.
"Lovely tranquil small hotel - helpful staff, great food and good value."

We stayed 5 nights in this lovely villa and enjoyed friendly Balinese hospitality. It's a tranquil haven on Jl Raya Petitenget. Ida Bagus and his team of staff were genuinely welcoming, friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean, spacious, well equipped and comfortable with air conditioning and good wifi. We were on the first floor overlooking the beautiful, stylish, tropical garden of trees, shrubs, plants and statues. There's a small pool, loungers and shaded patio with tables where we enjoyed sitting out for meals. Various cooked breakfasts were available and always served with fruits, juice and tea/coffee. The range, price and quality of food at their Honey Bees restaurant was so good that we ate here every evening and enjoyed some Bintang and refreshing mocktails. Made and his staff were great and so friendly that we felt relaxed and happy to be there. We could choose to sit and watch busy Bali at the front or sit in the peaceful garden at the back! The staff are all pleasant, friendly and attentive and Villa Bunga is really clean and well looked after. They have a list of available tours and we went on 2 excursions at reasonable prices- driven by Nyoman- Pura Ulun Danu Lake Bratten and Uluwatu. We walked to Petitenget beach and temple, around 20 mins from Villa Bunga and saw the most amazing sunset! There are plenty of shops and cafes and nearby and it's not far from the busier tourist areas of Seminyak. Thank you - we really enjoyed our stay at Villa Bunga and are pleased to recommend it to other visitors :-) Best wishes to you all from Brigid and Roger

We stayed in a one bedroom studio which was clean , comfortable and everything worked. Hotel staff were great ,friendlly and really helpful. Nice little pool area and pleasant patio to dine under. Breakfast was of good standard and we enjoyed a couple of nice cafe meals. All in all a well run boutique hotel in a trendy area.

We stayed over Christmas and had a fantastic time. The staff a friendly, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The hotel is clean and tidy with anything you'll need. They were marketing the restaurant while we were there but we didn't eat there. The continental breakfast includes a fee cooked items which is nice. I'd stay here again.

Overall the stay was very pleasant. Staff there were helpful and attentive. The Large studio which we stayed at is spacious and clean in general but do expect some ants around the sink in the toilet and mosquitoes. The hotel is pretty basic but was compensated by the service and attitude of the staff. We liked this place as it is a small hotel so it is relatively quiet and there is less human traffic. For the party people, the hotel is located some 20 minutes walk away from W Spa & Resort and Potato Head Beach Club. But bear in mind, Potato Head requires a reservation before hand to gain entry so book before you go. Food wise, the popular restaurant Sarong is within walking distance and there are many restaurants of all kinds nearby. If you're feeling lazy, the in-house restaurant Honeybees is pretty fantastic too.
"A disappointing experience"
I was disappointed with my recent visit to Villa Bunga Hotel and Spa in Seminyak, Bali. I booked a small studio on Agoda a few weeks in advance. On arrival late at night, I was advised that they had overbooked, and I was to stay in a standard room. The standard room smelt like stale cigarettes, the bathroom was outside and didn't have a sink (I had to brush my teeth into the shower or toilet), and the towels were dirty and stained. The clerk offered me compensation, of a massage (worth $5-10 USD), breakfast or returned money. I chose returned money, but was disappointed to discover the return amount was only 100,000 IDR - about $10USD. Having paid $50USD for the room I booked, and checking Agoda for the value of the standard room ($30USD) I raised the fact the returned money should be about double what was offered. I was told "we have to pay commission to Agoda". Surely it is not the customer's fault that the hotel has to pay commission, nor that they have been lax enough to overbook. The small studio, which I was moved into for the second night, was lovely - although there were some blood stains on the sheets. I have no issue with the standard of accommodation in the standard room, when I am paying $10USD a night, but for the amount I ended up paying it was not at all worth it. I was disappointed with the experience, because as a volunteer living in Timor-Leste, I can rarely afford to allow myself the luxury of a room that costs $50USD a night. This booking was the one time in the year I was to stay in nice accommodation, before returning to Timor-Leste, which despite it's many charms can be a difficult place to live. My family in Australia had pitched in for Christmas to allow me the sanctuary of two nights in Bali. I had looked forward to this, but was upset to find myself being pushed over by the hotel staff, paying for the extravagance but sleeping in a sub-standard room. I also felt slightly uncomfortable at times with the male hotel clerk - although I know he was joking, I do not appreciate comments about my appearance or me remaining in Bali in his house when I am traveling alone as a female.
"Not bad, but..."

I had just a few final days in Bali, after traveling to Lombok, Singapore, and Thailand. My first leg was spent in Kuta, so I wnted to try another area... Seminyak. I have usually found the Agoda and Hotels. com sites fairly accurate, so I chose Villa Bunga for cost and ratings. It was reasonably clean, but nothing very notable... I changed rooms because of a scheduling issue and found myself upstairs without a bathroom. Having traveled a bit, this didn't deter me but there was also no sink in the room or WC... not sure why this bothered me..but it did, a little. The location was walking distance to some of the nicer beached and clubs (as mentioned in other reviews) but overall, it was a scenic spot to stay. They had a small quiet court yard and pool to cool off in. There was a restaurant that served basic, but not special, food. It was a safe place to stay and the staff were generally helpful and friendly...they were clearly trying...
"Had a great stay at Villa Bunga!"
01/02/15 Carina O San Diego, California
My stay at Villa Bungalow was more than pleasant. Bagus greeted me upon my arrival and he and all the other staff members were incredibly kind, welcoming, and accommodating. The room was clean and comfortable. Water in the shower was extreme hot or cold but that is pretty standard for Bali! The location of the hotel on Jalan petitenget is conveniently located. There is a pepito's market within short walking distance and a cell phone stand across the street and down to the right where I was able to easily pick up a SIM card and phone charger. Front desk was very helpful in providing directions, calling cabs, and always asked if there could provide me with any food when returning to the hotel. Would definitely stay here again!
"My hotel for 5 years"
01/01/15 DragonflyGuam55 Guam, Mariana Islands
I have been staying at Villa Bunga for 5 years now, two or three times a year. It is like my second home. I was there on December 18, and surprised to find they were almost empty. The reason being, somehow Villa Bunga has lost the many wonderful comments they had previously on Trip Advisor. Nobody quite understands why, but they have been awarded twice in both 2013 & 2014 by Trip Advisor. I promised that I would try to start their popularity once again. If you are expecting a large 5 star hotel, on the beach, with all modern amenities, sports & several restaurants on site, then this is NOT the place for you. If you would like a very well priced, small, friendly, caring little hotel, that feels like being in a Balinese home, and staff that would do anything for you, then Villa Bunga is the place. The pool and garden area is lovely, and you can have a great breakfast (which is included in your room price) served at the pool or in the small restaurant. The prices of hotels in Bali are climbing steeply, this is real value for money, and always has been. Villa Bunga is on Pettinget Road which used to be very quiet, but is almost the overspill now from congested Seminyak, so may new hotels & restaurants are now appearing almost overnight! The downside to this is it has become a busy & sometimes noisy road, but the upside to this, is you step outside Villa Bunga, and there are wonderful restaurants & supermarkets within steps of the hotel, taxis readily available, and bikes can be rented from the reception staff. Each night they have a $7.00 BBQ, with either chicken or fish, with local vegetables, sambal & rice …..delicious. There is a fantastic little Spa at the rear of the hotel, where you can get a great massage for less than US$10 for an hour. It has a huge stone bath, which you can soak in, or you can have a head & shoulder massage, leg massage (after all the shopping) or a sunburn treatment with chilled aloe picked in the gardens & refrigerated. Just speak to the girls, they will look after you. One or two small things need updating in the rooms, but the owners are aware of this, and they plan to do some work in the rooms & on the pool. It is all minor, and I cannot recommend this little home from home hotel highly enough. The staff are amazing, helpful, kind, friendly and go out of their way to help everyone. I cannot speak highly enough about them. They are the most trustworthy of people in any circumstances. I LOVE Villa Bunga, and always will.
"Refused to honour booking"
The place is nice enough, but upon arriving at the villas they refused to honour out trip advisor booking, despite our showing them the reference number and booking form etc. We had booked two deluxe rooms and they had subsequently overbooked the rooms. It was the busy Christmas/new year period and knowing we had already paid and there were almost no vacancies left any were We were told that we could take the MUCH lower quality standard room, at the deluxe room price that we had already paid. This was the worst possible start to what should have been a nice holiday, having no option, and no way to be ire we could get any money back we took the standard (two single bed) rooms) The upshot is that the place has a nice pool, but you CANNOT trust them!! Until your bag is sitting in your room you have no way of being sure you actually have accommodation when you arrive in Bali. I would recommend staying anywhere else but here.
