"Great BNB for short or long stay."
We spent 3 nights in Florence and arrived to a suite in Gianna's B&B, of which we were the only guests and room in her B&B. After going to another B&B with many guests, we now fully appreciate how nice it was to see and chat with only Gianna and her husband, who were both polite, carried one of our luggage up flights of stairs, and recommended great […] restaurants. Gianna provided great recommendations for local restaurants and would give us brief overviews of museums. The breakfast was fresh pastries, toast, jam, fruit, and coffee each day, which was more than enough for all the museum-tripping. Free private wifi was great - we were able to Skype with family abroad without connection issues. Room was cleaned and tidied each day - no towel replacements, which was fine with us. We used our own toiletries but she had plenty available. Location was close to everything we needed to get to. Overall, she made our stay comfortable and really allowed us to enjoy this vacation. Communication was great and she went out of her way to help us out. The only negative was that the large bed was actually 2 twin-size beds put together and for a couple sleeping in the middle, it was slightly uncomfortable. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Very nice private Bed and Breakfast, right in the center of Florence. You are literally the only person staying there, and any needed ameneties are provided. The owner is very knowledgeable and flexible to ensure you have a great stay. This is a very unique a reasonably priced place to stay compared to the other options.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Unique in a wonderful city"
This B & B is unique. Only one room with everything you could need except no TV if you need it. Gianna Provided maps, walking plans, reservations for Museums and Dining if you want them. We plan to return and stay there when we can. Only down side is the stairs (no elevator) 34 to the B & B and additional 13 to your private Bath.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

myself and my wife stayed for three nights in september in Gianna's B and B, we had a brilliant time a tremendous welcome from Jane, the bed and breakfast was above the standard and with the excellent tourist advice from Jane made it the perfect stay in central florence, we highly recommend it david paula

Not a place I would necessarily go back to. Although the room is pretty spacious, the bathroom is upstairs, you have to negotiate a narrow spiral staircase which makes it quite incovenient at night or for someone with partial mobility. Cereals from a half-open box do not quite make it for an inviting breakfast. A more personable host would have helped, the lady should probably learn to smile a bit more. I could only recommend for a short stay if you need to be right in the centre of Florence, ear-plugs at night are advisable.
"Our best stay in Italy!!"

The location is awesome and you can get everywhere by foot or there is a taxi stand nearby. The room is clean and comfortable with great airconditioning which was heavenly after a long day. There is a double bed on the ground floor and a single bed upstairs. Beds are comfortable and great. I only suggest you bring earplugs with you because it can get noisy in the morning and you might be waking up way earlier than you want to. When we got there he was very helpful with pointing out the distances from where we are to major places in the map. Breakfast was the BEST. We got an assortment of fresh and super yummy pastries and coffee and fruit!! We loved it! The best breakfast we had among the 3 places we stayed in Italy. There's a lot of books and no TV but you won't be needing it anyways. The price is great too and I would 100% recommend this place to anyone staying in Florence.

We stayed here for 3 nights in June. It was so easy to walk around Florence that we actually walked to & from the Train Station to this B&B with luggage - about 8-12 mins walking. The room was nice with plenty of sunlight and really generously stocked, with fruits,. John was very helpful with all the questions we had for him & delighted us each morning with an assortment of fresh pastries for breakfast - i still miss those! There are lots of books in the room - about Florence too. It would have been nice to have a mirror outside the bath though
"Great Location, super price, charming host"

I stayed here for 4 nights at a very reasonable cost of 300 Euro in 2011. Gianna's is about halfway between the train station and the Duomo and you can walk to either in about 10-15 minutes. We took a taxi as we arrived after midnight, but walked the rest of the time everywhere. The room is on the 4th floor, very large, with windows that open on a cool, mostly quiet street (although we closed the windows at night as Vespa and car noise is amplified on the narrow Florence streets). The wife was on holiday but the husband was very kind and helpful. I proposed to my girlfriend and he delivered the most beautiful roses I have seen and a bottle of champagne at my request in the room at cost with no markup, and put his English speaking wife on the line to speak with me with suggestions for restaurant and location. Everything was fantastic. The breakfasts were delicious, and fridge with juice, drinks, fresh fruit and small bar were available. The library in our room was amazing, and I only wish I had more time to spend a day or two just staying in the room relaxing and reading. The host provided a book of all the gardens in Florence which allowed me to choose a place for my proposal (she said yes!). There was a small language barrier, as the English speaking wife was gone and the husband spoke very little English, but that's really my fault for not knowing Italian. There was great attention to detail, such as offering us an umbrella one day when it was raining. Very peaceful and quiet!
"Excellent place, great stay"

We stayed here for two nights and it was a great experience. Breakfast was very good, the place is clean, comfortable and has a very good location. We walked from and to the train station with two suitcases with no problem at all. Jane made sure we had everything we needed for breakfast, helped us by suggesting itineraries and best times of day to visit each spot. There's a little kitchen in the room with a fridge. I would recommend this place.
"Hospitality Australian-Italian style"

Stayed 3 nights with 2 college-aged daughters. Room is just off the entry door to Jane and her husband's home, but could come and go any time. It's 10-15 min walk from train station, but relatively quiet street at night. Room is unique---good sized with a nook kitchen, and a spiral staircase to upper 3rd bed loft and bathroom. No TV nor internet though. Jane, originally from Australia, was an attentive and very helpful owner!! She gave us a detailed insiders overview of lesser known (and often free) sites/churches/museums, and offered to procure tickets to Uffizi and The David if desired. She was very helpful! Nice simple breakfasts, tailored to our tastes by asking the evening before. Thanks Jane (and Italian husband whose name I don't recall). Bill, Bryn and Marykate.
"loved the place!"

My husband and I stayed this Gianna's Bed and Breakfast last week. The location was excellent and Gianna's service was so great! All the local places that she recommended was excellent. We went to a great restaurant and organic market that opens only during the first weekend of the month per Gianna's recommendation. We bought so many cool stuff from the market. I would definitely stay in this place again for our next trip to Florence. We were so sad that we only had one night. Loved the place a lot!!
"Very comfortable, excellent value (but perhaps not for everyone)"

Like other reviewers, I have nothing but good things to say about Gianna's B&B. I'll focus on the aspects I liked the most: (1) The proprietors are lovely: helpful and accommodating without being fussy. They seemed to be around when you needed them but I never felt like I was intruding. They tidied up when it was convenient for us, not for them. (2) You get so much space for your money, and the space is cosy and comfortable -- which was brilliant because we were rained in for most of a day. I felt like a guest in a friend's house. (3) There were wonderful, unusual touches of hospitality such as gourmet biscuits, a fruit bowl with good seasonal fruits, bookshelves with a wide variety of titles, dominoes and playing cards, mixers in the mini-fridge, and a breakfast that was catered to our requests (both in terms of when it was served and what it contained). Nevertheless, I think it's fair to say that we loved it so much partly because we aspire to be low-impact travellers. Gianna's may not be the sort of place for a person who really wants a luxurious holiday. For example, towels and bed linens are not changed daily -- a wasteful practice anyway, but one that a lot of people seem happy to go along with. Moreover, there is neither a TV nor a radio. Gianna's is simply a brilliant example of a traditional B&B rather than a boutique hotel that masquerades as an upmarket B&B. Gianna's is such good value that anyone with reasonable expectations ought to be more than delighted with every aspect of their stay.

About a 10 min walk from the main Train station, the directions given are easy to follow. There is no lift but the stairs are wide enough for you to drag your bags up relatively easily and its only 2 flights. Your host Jane/Gianna has been living in Florence for 28 years, but as she was from an English speaking country first, this is very useful as she is fluent in both English and Itallian. Her local knowledge is of course second to none and she is more than happy to help you out with maps, buses, guidebooks etc and restaurant reservations. The room itself is large and lovely. The bed is on the bottom floor and the bathroom and another single bed are on the mezzanine level above, reached via a small spiral staircase in the room. There is a small breakfast table in the room on which you may have cereal, fresh bread and jam, pastries and fresh coffee, tea and amazing Italian hot chocolate. There is a fruit bowl too which has a nice selection, and Italian biscuits all at your disposal. Juice was in the fridge, along with milk and there was a small selection of Spirits if a late night Apertif was in order. Close by are some nice restaurants, try Capaggi (as recommended by Gianna). Florence is all very accessable on foot, and Gianna's is not far from any of the main attractions you may want to see. The Duomo is about 5-10mins away at a strolling pace. It seemed a very safe place during the day and night. Gianna continued to help us even after we had left as we were trying to find a place to stay in Venice, and she emailed us with suggestions. There is no TV for those of you who want it, but if you come to Florence to watch TV...? No Internet either, but an Internet cafe a very short walk away. All the above for not very many Euros. The perfect place to stay, why go elsewhere? :)
