"Amazing city, amazing location. That's it"
This is my first time to Florence so I only have this hotel as my reference. The location was key with this hotel. Couldn't have been much better. Great location however the hotel itself was not much else. The hallway smelled like stale air. The room had a window that looked at a interior brick wall with bars and didn't open. There is no air condition […] in the room at all. ITS A SHARED BATHROOM. You have to share with 8 other tenets. There is NO parking if you are driving. None. The owners are fantastic. Very nice and helpful. The bed was old and decor was old. Lots of picture frames with no pictures. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful people, safe convenient location"
I am an 18 year old female traveling alone from the U.S. I was quite nervous to stay in a foreign city alone for several nights and safety was very important to me. Not once did I feel uncomfortable or unsafe staying at Hotel Cestelli. It is located very close to the Arno river to it is easy to find your way back to the hotel if you get lost. The surrounding […] area is all high end luxury stores that is extremely well lit at night. The hotel itself was very nice and charming. The owners were always available and very accommodating. They gave me advice on where to go and held my bags for several hours after my check out time. The room was plain but had everything necessary and a window that provided a nice breeze. Over all, Hotel Cestelli made my trip to Florence extremely enjoyable! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect little hotel 10 seconds from Ponte Vecchio"
This hotel was one of the highlights of my 8 week backpacking trip! Location couldn't be better - within 5 minutes walking from everywhere (15 to David) and out the door to Ponte Vecchio. Tons of great shopping, sights and gelato nearby! Hotel was spotlessly clean, beds were comfy, and the price was a steal for being this close to everything. But the […] best part by far of my stay was the lovely couple who own the hotel! So so so friendly and accommodating and spent so much time giving recommendations and making sure I loved Florence as much as they do. Can't speak more highly of them - even when the hotel was full with people coming and going they remembered my name. You just don't find people and service like this anymore. Stay here! Perfect for solo female travelers - extremely safe at all hours. Seriously, stay here! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Location can not be more than perfect - right in the heart of everything and about 15 min walk from train and bus station. the owners are lovely couple (italian married with a japanese lady) who gave very good suggestions on local restaurants that aren't crammed with tourists. Shared bathroom but very clean (i think they clean it right after they hear […] anybody using it!) - water is a little small but works fine in summer times I'm sure. For the price you pay, it's definitely value for money. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Stay here in Florence"
The owner is incredibly friendly. As soon as you enter, he sits down with you and goes over the map to help you identify what you want to do in Florence and how you can best manage your time/interests. The wifi works great, unlikely many hotels in Italy. The facilities and rooms are clean and nicely decorated. It's right next to the Uffizi, which should […] be on anyone's stay in Florence, a 15 minute walk from the Academie (Michaelangelo's David) and the main train station. Close to everything. "Perfect Visit to Florence"
I was traveling alone to Florence to visit my sister. I picked this hotel because of the positive reviews and because it was a five minute walk from my sister's apartment. The one star didn't really concern me because the price and location were perfect, but I was so very pleasantly surprised to find the hotel exceeding all of my expectations! My room […] (#3) was immaculate, quiet, and just right for my four nights away. If you're looking for a hotel chock-full of amenities, perhaps look elsewhere. You won't have the basket of shampoos, blow dryer, mounted TV, or jacuzzi you'd see in many American hotels, but with a city like Florence right outside your window, you really shouldn't be spending too much time in your room anyhow! Alessio and Asumi were wonderful hosts, greeting me each time I came and left the hotel and helping me figure out the logistics of getting to the airport at the crack of dawn on a Sunday. They even let my sister come check out the room I'd be staying in prior to my arrival. If I ever have the opportunity to return to Florence, this is exactly where I'll stay and I will recommend it to anyone looking for a no-frills, home-away-from-home hotel in the heart of that incredible city. "Amazing location. Downtown and close to everything"
We really enjoyed our stay here and plan to return at the end of our stay. Great food and walking recommendation from the cheerful hosts. This is a definite recommendation especially for the price.Genuine Expedia guest review
Beautiful hotel that is family owned and maintained. Nice personal touches throughout and in very good location. Unfortunately we did not check our booking and were put in a room that had to share the bathroom with 5 other people-not perfect but it was immaculately clean. Location was perfect. Hotel was very basic. We had our baby. It was a very bad experience with the baby.If you are looking for just a bed, nothing more, in Firenze central, that's good, otherwise not recommended.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Очень милое местечко"
Отличное место, чтобы переночевать один-два раза. Общая ванная комната и туалет, но опять же, одну ночь за такие деньги можно и потерпеть. Всего два переулка(минут 5-7 неспешным шагом) от музея Уффици, совсем рядом от Арно. Номер чистенький, ребята в отеле работают очень милые, хорошо говорят по английски. "A special hotel with many rules"
clean and very good location. but i was a bit surprised for some strange rules given by the reception when i arrived, such as not keeping the key in daytime, checking out at 10. Also you can see many notes with rules all over the bathroom, the feeling is not so comfortable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

This is a great hostel. The host couple are very nice and provided a lot of information as we arrived. I want to book this hostel again once coming back to Firenze.
Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Super nice hotel in the center of Florence!"
Hotel Cestelli is one of the nicest hotels I have ever visited. It was right in the heart of Florence, close to Ponte Vecchio and all the sightseeing. The hotel provides with free wi-fi and good-sized rooms. All the rooms share a bathroom, but while I stayed there, you never had to wait long in line. My room was facing the street, but I rarely heard […] any noise. At most, it was a loud group of friends who were SO excited to go to dinner. Other than that, it is a very quiet and safe street. And just 5 minutes away you had everything - shopping, sightseeing, groceries store and the river Arno. And just around the corner you had Piazza Santa Trinita with more expensive stores and the Salvatore Ferragamo shoe museum. And if you walk across the bridge Ponte Santa Trinita you have the best gelateria in Florence! The staff - Alessio and Asumi was so sweet and nice. You could talk to them about anything. I used to live in Florence and we propably talked about that for a good 10 minutes! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Puzzled by the wonderful reviews"
I did not have a very comfortable stay at Hotel Cestelli. My bedroom (Rm 6 I believe) was a narrow airless dark room that had a bare unused bidet, overlooking an air shaft. I was a bit grossed out by the open bidet, I wish they would cover it at least or remove it. The bed was okay, there was a sink in the room but the toilet and bath were shared. One of the biggest problems for me was the wifi connection, I got no signal in my room and had to use the outside reception area and even then it was very slow. My sister, a friend and I were trying to make plans for our next leg and chatting late one night, around midnight, and the owner came out of his bedroom and shouted impolitely at us that he was trying to sleep. We were not being loud, but we had to chat to plan our next leg. If the internet had reached one of our rooms we would happily moved inside, but that was not an option. The shared bath would have been great but sometimes I had to wait 20 minutes to use it because someone would be taking a shower. There is no separate toilet that you can use while someone is in the shower. The shared bathroom was clean and well maintained. But when I wanted to take use the shower there was no place to put anything because the only stool available had a potpourri arrangement with a sign saying don't touch. Even one of the wooden scent sticks had a tiny sign on it saying please don't touch. Weird. I didn't really interact with the owners (apart from being yelled at), but they were very quick to respond to emails about requesting a room, so I am grateful for that. The million signs saying don't touch this and don't do that bothered me, the dark interior bothered me, I didn't find it charming or welcoming, it was depressing and uncomfortable.
"Who is writing these excellent reviews? "
07/04/14 Austin R
Although the couple working there is really sweet and nice people, I just couldn't give them above a 2/5. You feel almost as if you are in their own house. There are a million signs everywhere saying "don't touch this", "don't do that", "do this", etc. The rooms haven't been redecorated or redone since 1818, so if you're an old old grandma I guess you'd love them. There is one socket in the room that doesn't even work with most outlet adapters and is on the other side of the room from the bed. No A/C so you have to leave the windows open and get attacked by mosquitos all night. We had some GNARLY bug bites. The WiFi doesn't work very well and in fact another guest sat outside our room at night to get access to WiFi because it didn't work in their room. On the flip side the location is amazing.
"Exceeded Our Expectations"
07/01/14 Pinguini_USA Burbank, California
Hotel Cestelli exceeded all of our expectations. We booked one of the rooms with a shared bathroom down the hall. Originally, I wasn't looking forward to sharing a bathroom. Surprisingly, it was among the nicest bathrooms we used in all of Italy! They keep it spotless and beautifully decorated. The atmosphere is wonderfully calming with candles and fragrant potpourri. The shower is stocked with a nice selection of products in case you don’t have your own. Also, the bathroom is used by one person at a time, so privacy was never an issue. The room was simple, but pleasantly decorated. The in-room sink was convenient so we didn't have to walk to the bathroom for brushing our teeth and other simple hygiene. Just like the rest of the hotel, there is a great sense of calm and peace in the rooms which is relaxing especially after a full day of exploring busy Florence. The building is very centrally located; all the main sights are only a short walk away. When you walk into the reception area, it's so peaceful and fragrant that it almost feels like a monastery. The building is also very secure. On check out day they held our luggage for us while we enjoyed Florence for one last day. Alessio and Asumi, the couple who run the hotel, are also among the nicest people we met in all of Italy. In fact, I would even say that speaking with them was one of the highlights of our trip. They are fluent in English and even lived in the United Sates for a few years. They were incredibly warm and welcoming and they're more than happy to help you with any information you need. They also provided great sightseeing advice. Thanks to them, we discovered some wonderful places in Florence that are off the beaten path that most tourists probably miss out on. They are passionate about helping people discover the beauty behind every aspect of the city. I would not hesitate to stay here again the next time I'm in Florence.
"Best bargain ever, super location - awesome!"
05/23/14 p_alewood Melbourne, Australia
This place is very near perfection for a traveller not looking for a resort. The negatives are well promoted and not a big deal but worth a mention; - it has only one shared bathroom for those rooms without their own bathroom - it has no lift but is only on the 2nd floor - it has no TV - not a big deal in Florence but maybe for some. The positives are endless not least the bargain price. The location is absolutely superb, only a street back from the river near the Pontivecchio and in the cutest street ever. The building itself is beautiful with a huge door, a 500 yr old bust above it and has a very nice first impression. The people who run it are perfect - friendly, so warm and helpful - you just want to talk to them and listen to their advice and get to know them - also a very cute couple. The feel of the accommodation is wonderful - I have stayed in many types of accommodation like this and many are outdated and very average. This place is very cute and a little trendy looking - really nice. They have all the tourist info you need to get started and within minutes you can be in the thick of it or away from it - up to you. Clearly I love this place and for the price, I don't think you will come close - enjoy!

My friend and I stayed here for 4 nights and we had a wonderful time - the room was immaculate, the location excellent, great value for money and most of all, the owners were so friendly and charming, and full of recommendations, we couldn't have asked for much more.
"A hotel with the charm and hospitality of a Bed and breakfast"
12/06/13 Charlene France... F Long Beach, California
I've just returned from a 10 day stay at Hotel Cestelli. Alessio and Assumi, the owners, are as charming as their lovely hotel. Alessio speaks perfect English and Italian and generously answers any question one might have. This trip, I was able to navigate the Italian post office, after he explained exactly what I needed to do. It is a joy to be greeted by sweet Assumi after a returning in the evening. The hotel location is absolutely perfect and safe, just one block from Ponte Vecchio. They are just a few doors from Ferragamo. The spotlessly clean interior of the hotel is furnished with beautiful antiques. The beds are comfortable. The building ambience and the personal attention given to each guest, makes this a 5 star in my opinion.
"Great location, host, hotel in Florence"
10/31/13 L H Princeton,
We stayed at the Hotel Cestelli at the end of September. What a great experience! The hosts were welcoming and extremely helpful with restaurant and activity recommendations. The location couldn't be better -- located a ten minute walk from the train station, and five minutes from the Arno, the Uffizi, Palazzo Vecchio, Duomo and many other major Florence sites. The street it's on is quiet. We stayed in a room with a shared bathroom, which was fine. Room very clean, basic, quiet. Would definitely stay here again or recommend to others!
"Great small hotel in Florence, Italy"
10/22/13 Jan_and_Dennis Greenbrae, California, Usa
We have stayed here several times and enjoy every experience. The couple who run the hotel, Alessio and Asumi, are gracious and accommodating. The hotel is quiet and perfectly situated amidst the busyness of Florence -- truly a treat. Rates are reasonable, too. We are charmed by the Hotel Cestelli, which is a tribute to the owners.
"Serene and clean"
10/08/13 SheilaLoring Cary, NC
Staying at Hotel Cestelli was a delight. After long days of walking around the city, it felt nice returning to our temporary home in the beautiful 12th century palace. We checked in at night, entering a dimly lit lobby full of antique furniture and a large stained glass window like you'd find in an old church. I must find out what musky scent filled the air. The room was spotless, simply furnished but completely adequate for a short stay. We shared the bathroom and had a sink in the room. I could only find one electrical outlet, which wasn't unexpected in an ancient building. I recommend bringing an extension cord or power strip anyway when traveling. The hotel is located near the Salvatore Ferragamo shoe museum and around the corner from a street lined with designer stores...Celine, Gucci, Pucci, Hermes, etc. The Ponte Vecchio bridge is around the corner. Many restaurants and cathedrals are nearby. If you're looking for an economical hotel and appreciate simplicity, give Hotel Cestelli a try.
"Very comfortable and excellent host"
We would definitely stay here again. The room was simple but comfortable and the location was excellent. The best part was the hosts, Alessio and Asumi. Allessio was so friendly and gave us great suggestions about where to eat and what to do in Florence. Florence is ridiculously crowded with tourists and it does get overwhelming at times. With his advice we were able to avoid many of the tourist crowds, find good places to eat and make the most of our two days there.
