"Wonderful accommodation in a wonderful location"
Capple Bank Farm is in a lovely setting surrounded by rolling countryside and the owners own immaculate gardens. We received a very friendly welcome from the owners with tea and cake in the drawing room on arrival. We stayed in the barn which was a beautifully renovated room with modern facilities and was spotlessly clean. We ate at two local restaurants […] in the evenings, The Wensleydale Heifer, which was within walking distance, and The Forester's Arms which was a 5 minute drive away. The food was fantastic in both places as was the service and the very friendly staff. We stayed B&B at the farm and the breakfasts prepared for us both mornings were delicious. I would not hesitate to recommend a stay here and will look forward to returning at a future date. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great for Leisure not so great for business user"
First of all don't follow Sat Nav to arrive, it will take you far away. If you have to follow, follow The Old Vicarage, Main St, West Witton, Leyburn, Yorkshire DL8 4LX and take next left. Breakfast was good, even was given tea in the evenings. The owner was very helpful. She even wrote down and explained me how to get to the site where I had to go […] on day 1. Views around are just awesome. Overall very relaxed stay. Only things that I find a bit negative was, no wifi in the rooms but I've been told that its due the weaker service available in the area and closest eating area was around 4 miles away in Leyburn. "Not for everyone... Standards may have fallen"
Well Il begin with our arrival, it was freezing cold and we were left outside for while but to be honest it seemed they were not organized more than anything so we were shown to the room and credit it where its due the barn room is beautiful.. Bed amazing!!! Bathroom lovely but not great on cleanliness... Fine if you don't mind the odd hair or dead flies.. The next morning we went to breakfast and the lady of the house was very insistent on checking our room the excuse being to change our cups even though we said no thank you..but she came back two minutes later and in the middle of breakfast had a big go at us (after seeing electronic cigarette in room ) she said arms open wide there was no smoking what so ever anywhere on her property... We were so put off we left most of our food .... At no part of our visit were we told any smoking was band until that point. My birthday was some what spoilt. about an hour later they came to our room walked in no knocking again to change cups which made me feel violated as in bed. overall id say we were extremely unwelcome. if you are over 50 and very conservative this is a lovely retreat ... Under and id advise you avoid like the plague!!! Judging by the comments before now it could be she is tired and stressed as we expected such warm people and environment. Beautiful location... I liked the dogs.
"B&B with luxury feel"

We booked this for a two night honeymoon break and absolutely loved the place. The property has been extensively renovated and brought right up to date but retained the feel of a high class country home. The owners are a lovely couple, very engaging and give us such a warm welcome; we were greeted with champagne and congratulations on arrival which we considered to be a very thoughtful gesture. Make no mistake about it, this is the owners' home but you do not feel like you are invading their space or they yours. It's a big house with plenty of room. Our bedroom was fabulous, being situated on the top floor of the converted barn with a huge bed. The bathroom was spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the property. The furnishings are high standard, not the run of the mill stuff you'd normally find in a B&B. Breakfast was fabulous. The location is well away from the main road through the village so is blissfully quiet. The views across the Dale are stunning. Overall, this booking exceeded our expectations on every count.
"A perfect weekend break"

We think this rates as probably one of the best B and Bs we have ever stayed in. It is conveniently close to West Witton (convenient for the Heifer!) but in a peaceful location, up the hillside, overlooking fields and dales. The peace and quiet was just what we needed. The farmhouse is beautiful, clean and spacious. Full of character. Our room was large, comfortable, clean and had everything we needed, including a fabulous ensuite shower and bathroom. Our host, Mafra, was charming and produces delicious breakfasts. We were happy to go back there after long walks in the dales. Saturday evening, we walked down to the Heifer in the moonlight. We thought it was the perfect weekend break for us city folk.

We spent five relaxing nights at this first class b&b. Stunning location set in outstanding dales scenery. Five star accommodation ensured our absolute comfort. The bed was huge and so comfortable, it was only the thought of a good breakfast that dragged us from it. There are plenty of excellent places to eat in the vicinity which had come highly recommended by our hosts. Hope we will soon have another opportunity to experience this perfect retreat. Other nice touches, fresh milk for teas and coffees in our room and a beautiful posy of sweet peas from the garden to welcome us.
"not likely to get a hygiene rating of five...."

To be fair we are used to staying in hotels (with all those little luxuries) so this was a bit of a culture shock, but the hygiene issues mean I honestly couldn't even say this was average. When we booked we were aware the owners have dogs, but were shocked to go down to breakfast and find two of them had the run of the kitchen and one of them was licking the plates in the dishwasher!!! and there was black dog hair in my food! Yuck Yuck Yuck Now I'm not anti pet at all, and by all means let your dogs have the run of your private kitchen but when you are cooking for the paying public there must be certain hygiene standards. On the subject of hygiene there was a shower scrunchie/body poof that was clearly not new so you can only imagine where it had been and what bacteria was living in it - although I didn't touch it I could smell it! Half used bottles of shower gel are a bit of a no no. On the plus side, the B&B is situated in a very quiet peaceful location however we feel maybe we had the "worst" room with, if you looked down a view of the washing line and another window (overlooking our plain glass bathroom window) , and the bed was very comfy so we got a good nights sleep, but the curtains let a lot of light in so I woke quite early in the morning. The room smelt a bit musty like maybe it isn't used a lot. The shower is lovely and powerful (just try to ignore the used shower scrunchie!) I just think the lines are a bit blurred between house guests and paying customers.

On our arrival we were treated by Justin who took us to the barn ,where we would spend 2 nights. The room has a television and two seater couch and the biggest bed I have ever seen!!!! . The bathroom had a bath and shower and was very spacious.Breakfast was served in the main house at a time designated by us ...which consisted of cereals and fruit followed by a cooked breakfast . We were made to feel so welcome that felt like we were staying at a relatives house . The place is approx 10 mins walk to the small village which has the Wensleydale heifer fish bar (food is delicious) , and the small pub . Aysgarth falls and layburn are approx 5 mins drive and Hawes ,which is a beautiful village is approx 10 mins drive I would highly recommend this place if not just to experience the silence (and I mean total silence) you hear or not ,in this beautiful place

Lovely B&B set in nice coutryside with a hill on one side and the valley on the other. Ours was a nice room with a comfortable bed and good quality linen. Nice touches, such as fresh milk in a flask each day. Lovely choice and quality of breakfast including fresh eggs from their own hens.

How lucky we were to find such a first class accomadation in a lovely location, you cannot go wrong in choosing this b&b.We received a warm welcome from owners and shown to a comfortable room with beautiful views.a choice of walks are available from the front door,so no need to use our car.The breakfasts were great using local produce
"First class choice"

From arriving to leaving, the four of us were treated in style. A lot of thought had gone into converting an old farmhouse into a first class B&B. Bedrooms, bathrooms and the breakfasting area are a delight. Breakfast had everything you needed prior to a strenuous hike. I guess that you will not find a better retreat in the West Witton area. An excellent choice !!
"Great place to unwind and enjoy"

My wife and I had a two night stay at Capple Bank Farm and I have to say from the quality of the room to the breakfast and warm welcome by the two lovely owners, everything was fantastic. It is a traditional bed and breakfast that has all the touches of real quality, from the very high quality restoration of the farm to the bed linen and towels, everything was five star. Upon arrival we were made a lovely fresh pot of tea and unwound. The farm is also in a beautiful location and easily the best location for us in Wensleydale.
