"Hotel La Colina"
Good location, close to all the major tourist attractions, restaurants and beaches. There were a lot of insects/bugs on the hotel property and we brought back food and found a pile of ants later in the evening. Very humid and A/C took a long time to be somewhat effective. They say they have wifi available but only in pool area and reception, no reach in the rooms.

"Don't stay here"
When I booked La Colina, I expected something rustic which is what I am used to as I tend to stick to a certain budget when traveling. I will say that the whole staff was very friendly and helpful but that is the only redeeming quality in my opinion. The room was tiny and there was hardly anywhere to set your things. The bathroom was even less spacious and the only place to set something was the back of the toilet. The bathroom sink was about ten inches wide and the basin wasn't attached to the pedestal so it felt like it was going to fall off at any moment. The shower door no longer had wheels so it was difficult to open. The room had a horrid smell to it which we later discovered was the smell of the wall that the bed was against. The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows were flat and undersized. Not to mention the 2 throw pillows they put on the bed for decoration which we didn't dare sleep with. The floor was dirty from the day we got there and made our socks dark brown shortly after waking with no shoes on. I am a budget traveler and expect to stay in rustic hotels but I will never ever stay here again and I would highly recommend staying elsewhere.

"Upgrade!"
Spend the money for the better rooms! They are worth it and make your stay a real treat. We tried to save a few dollars and book the cheaper rooms and we got what we paid for. We talk to the manager and he was able to upgrade us for a great price. You will not be happy with the cheaper rooms unless you just do not care where you put your head down at night. The upgraded rooms are much better and well worth the extra dollars!

"Location is not the best"
Hotel is on a hill with lots of steps and on a curve on a narrow road; not really safe or easy to walk anywhere. Standard rooms were very bare and minimal. Ocean view rooms were much larger and nicer. Breakfast was included and decent. Staff was great! All of the people were very helpful and very pleasant.

"Did not live up to expectations given reviews"
Our room was enough for a double bed and small space for suitcase. Bathroom was so small that knees touched door if closed but if left open you had to close the curtains to the outside. We were left one towel for 2 people, no separate hand towel or washcloth, toilet leaked, sink faucet was broken and we were not given instruction on the extra step you had to take to get cold water in the shower so my husband burned himself trying to take a shower. Walls were paper thin-we heard everything from neighbor rooms on both sides. Parts of the breakfast were not available and then they wanted to charge for juice, without providing the promised breakfast.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Colina. A lot of other reviews I read prior to traveling were about the bugs, but remind you, you are in Costa Rica and there are bugs everywhere :) If you are looking for an inexpensive place to rest your head, I would recommend Hotel La Colina.

"False Information On-Line"
My boyfriend and I planned a trip to Costa Rica as a reward to ourselves after taking the Bar Exam. Unfortunately, our experience at La Colina proved to be more stress-inducing than stress-relieving. We arrived on a Tuesday evening and were greeted by the most disinterested hotel employee. He seemed surprised that we had questions about the hotel and the surrounding area and hesitated to answer even simple inquiries. The situation worsened when he showed us our room: what was described on-line as comfortable, clean lodging was actually a dirty, barely-bigger-than-a-closet room that appeared to have been unoccupied and unattended for a long time. Shocked by the disparity between the on-line description and the reality of the facilities, we decided to go to the bar for what the room information described as "Happy Hour." The bartender was friendly and provided suggestions for restaurants in the area; however, no happy hour existed. The promised delightful wood-grill restaurant was nothing more than an outside bar underneath a faux tiki hut beside a pool too small for more than two adults. After leaving the bar, we returned to our room to find that the AC was leaking onto the floor. The front desk attendant begrudgingly moved us to a room no cleaner or larger than the first...and with NO HOT WATER. We also had no Wi-Fi, as promised. The next morning, we ate breakfast, took cold showers again, and left La Colina without so much as an apology for the gross misrepresentations.

"Our little oasis in Manuel Antonio/Quepo"
We arrived here late nite under heavy rain (not our choice of circumstances but we didn't want to wait any longer in San José) and were greeted by a jovial employee, who suggested we upgrade our room for only $15 more per night. We were blown away when the staff member walked us into a room with a comfortably sized balcony and a piano!!! Yes!!!! Hint hint (Room #6) We were sold! We had a great rest the first night and awoke to a natural paradise outside..visible from our abundant windows. We descended the stairs and arrived at a delightful poolside breakfast. Our complimentary breakfast consisted of tasty options such as the cleverly titled "gringo breakfast" and "tico breakfast," we tried both meals and staff were very accommodating to my vegetarian gf ' s palette. How can I forget the bottomless cup of Costa Rican coffee that can awake even the most sluggish of travelers. !! Tastyyyyy. Bottom line, a wonderful place that's center btwn Quepos and Manuel Antonio, so can be a take off point for beach bumming days or adventurous treks with the butt loads of tour companies throughout the area... Pura vida!!!

"Looked great from outside."
The Hotel looked very pretty from the outside, the inside of the room was simple and mostly clean. The floors and bed were clean but the walls were a little dirty. The bathroom provided soap so luckily I had shampoo. The bathroom doesn't permit you to flush toilet paper which I didn't really care for. The bathroom smelled of baby powder which I assumed was to mask any possible smell. The hotel safe had a fee or deposit to it so I did not bother with it. The room could have used more real pillows instead of decorative ones. The ceiling was very thin and it sounded as if everyone above me was stomping around the room.

Hotel La Colina is a quaint B & B. They are centrally located between the Beach/Marina at Quepos and Manuel Antonio National Park. The pool/bar area is quite lovely and relaxing. "a hike to the bus"
Hotel personnel were very nice but some rooms were right on the road and very noisy. The manager kindly changed us to a much nicer room with a view. In both rooms, however, the air conditioning did not work well. The grounds are very pretty and the breakfast very good, but it's an uphill hike of 10 min. just to get to the bus stop to go to Manuel Antonio beach (which was a 10-15 min. ride away.) All in all, I'd give it a 3.5 rating.

Of the 4 places we stayed on our trip, this was unanimously voted as the least favorite due to the quality of the rooms. The buildings are old and the suites are makeshift with little or no sound insulation. The bathroom sink and toilet were broken in one suite, the bed spread dirty/smelly in another. All beds were extremely uncomfortable and the noise road prevented even the most liquid of sleeps. The hotel is in much rougher shape in person than in the pictures and as a 5 time visitor to Costa Rica who has stayed in all manner of accommodation, I found this hotel to host the most cobwebs and their resident spiders. Spiders are a fact of life here, but there were dozens of 2-4 inch spiders strung around the walkways that could have been tended to in a harmless, yet guest friendly way.

"Affordable hotel, short bus ride from Nat. Park"
I stayed at Hotel La Colina for 2 nights. Reception was very accommodating in helping me with bus info to Manuel Antonio from the Hotel and also shuttle and bus information to get me to my next destination. The pool could use a bit of an upgrade, but overall a nice place to stay. There was a family staying the floor above mine and that was loud, many little feet running on the wooden floor. The food at the restaurant was delicious. Breakfast was included in the room rate with 3 complimentary options. If I came back, I'd prefer to have my own vehicle as it's a bit of a walk to each bus station up or down the hill (no sidewalks). My room had air conditioning and a fan. The bathroom had a shower with separate hot and cold taps.

This hotel has nice commodities with the pool and the bar but our room deeply need to be restored. The room was very large to accommodate all the family of five but it looks that it had never been repaired for the last 25 years. Doors not closing, kitchen and batroom in bad condition, windows in the bathroom completely rotten. Is was also very noisy. The rooms in the other building might be better because the building looks more recent. Considering the quality of the room, it is definitely not a 3 star hotel, more a one or two star.

"Falta mantenimiento, localizacion inconveniente"

Vi boede i to forskellige værelser under vores ophold.

"Good service and restaurant, rest not so good"
It depends on what you are after... The hotel is between Quepos and Manueal Antonio so not actually close to anywhere. The road from Quepos to manuel Antonio is dangerous to walk as there are no pavements for pedestrians and has no lights whatsoever so as soon as it gets dark you find yourself stuck at the hotel or depending on taxis. If you have a car this is not a problem but I didn't. There are buses but you still need to walk 300m in the dark and any car may hit you, buses stop running around 9.30 pm. The room was pleasant, nice shower, good pressure and hot water but it was facing the main road so impossible to sleep unless you have good earplugs, it was room number 1. Room number 1, 2 and 3 are the same. Your phone in room one will not get the wifi signal unless you have a very good phone. I had 2, one get a weak signal, the other one no. It's fair to mention that the breakfast is really good and all the staff at the hotel really nice and sweet. It's only the location of the hotel if you dont have a car what can ruin your trip

While my room was only $80 it was not worth the price, something that was also clearly signed at the entrance where rooms were offered for $60!
