Hotel in a great location. Staff friendly and very helpful. Rooms large with views of canal and lovely period furniture. Would recommend and hope to visit again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A Charming Hotel with Great Views"
Excellent location in the resident area of Jordaan. Rooms with balcony have a gorgeous view of the canals. Interesting lobby areas. Nice neighborhood restaurants. A 15-25 min walk from typical tourists sights. Breakfast could use some hot food like oatmeal. No lift, steep stairs. Despite the quiet residential area, the younger crowd walking on the street […] at 2, 3, 4 AM can wake you up with their talking and laughing. Would stay here again. We really enjoyed this hotel. The staff was most helpful. The hotel is in a great location, within walking distance to main sites. There is no elevator and the stairs are steep, but the staff helped us with our bags. We had a canal view and it was busy and noisy during the day (fun to watch all the bicyclists), but it quietened down at night, and we […] had no trouble sleeping. I would recommend this hotel! The staff was great at this hotel and the location was wonderful. There was a good selection at breakfast with a beautiful breakfast room overlooking the canal. The décor in the foyer and sitting room was lovely with a lot of art and antiques, but the rooms were outdated with old furniture and lumpy beds. This hotel has economical family rooms, so was […] good for family travel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fantastic location, just OK rooms"
Great location at the south end of the Jordan for strolling through beautiful and low-key neighborhoods such as the Jordan or the trendy 9 Streets, just steps away. There you can find nice restaurants, cool cafes, a great cheese shop and bakeries, and unique boutique shopping. Also handy for the Anne Frank House (reserve online to avoid queues!) and […] reasonably close to the major museums. The city bus to Schipol Airport is also very close, which the helpful receptionist recommended. Other pros include a decent breakfast included in the rate and complimentary espresso and tea served in the lounge. We were less excited about the rooms, which are basic, a bit small and not furnished very comfortably. There were some chintzy touches like shower gel in a packet (like ketchup), but overall for the price the location seemed to be a worthwhile tradeoff for fewer comforts. Be advised that the steps are very steep, particularly from the 2nd to 3rd floor (that’s 1st to 2nd in typical European parlance). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely hotel in a beautiful area of Amsterdam"
I stayed at this hotel when I was travelling on my own in Amsterdam. It was absolutely lovely, great interior, clean and quiet room, friendly staff and great location. I highly recommend it. Just know you will have to use the relatively small and steep stairs, but this is not worth not staying here.Genuine Expedia guest review
Charming place to stay. Don't expect a modern hotel. There is no elevator and if your room is on the 4th floor you will have to drag your large suitcases up long steep stairs.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Lovely break in a well positioned area. Hotel was clean and staff very helpful. Picturesque area. Breakfast was relaxed and nice setting - could of stayed all morning watching the world go by. We would stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good value hotel for location and quality"
Nice hotel in quieter location away from touristville. Some nice bars and restaurants nearby and only 10 min walk to centre. Friendly and helpful staff in a quirky homely hotel. Very clean, and double room of average size. Internal walls a bit thin but to be expected in such a building. Breakfast simple but ok. And the stairs are steep but a feature […] of Amsterdam. "We loved it!"
A lovely hotel, great friendly staff, we got free got drinks whilst there, the room was great and so was the free breakfast! Definitely staying there again if we can! On the same street as Anne frank house and westerkerk and only a five or ten minute walk from most restaurants and dam square! 4/5 from us!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Best location in Amsterdam"
This is not the most sophisticated hotel it is in fact quite quirky. Two friends travelling to amsterdam for 5 days found it the perfect spot, great value for money and if you can get over the decor and collections a perfect base for the city. The staff were friendly and helpful and the stairs good for the muscles. Best view I ever had from a hotel […] room although a little noisy late at night with open window. "Friendly hotel that made you feel at home"
On arrival, we were greater by the owners' dog and very friendly and approachable staff. We were given directions to the room, which was on the third floor. Boy, are Amsterdam steps steep! Not a problem though and it made the hotel seem more like a home. The complimentary sweets by the hotel desk are also a plus. The room itself was fine. It was a […] family room with four beds. Sadly no view of the canal but the plus side was that it was very quiet. The breakfast is a simple continental style breakfast. It was more than enough for us. And you get a great view of the canal from the breakfast room. There is also complimentary tea, coffee and hot choc. No beer/ alcoholic drinks. Very nice after a long day around town. We left our luggage at the hotel and came back to collect before leaving to come home. A very helpful service. Overall, we were very pleased with the hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Our family of 4 recently stayed here and were amazed at the prime location of the property. With easy access to transport, food, trendy shops and bars this is the place to stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Lovely hotel in great location"
We stayed 2 nights (not long enough) and walked for miles around Amsterdam taking in the main tourist spots (Anne Frank House - very moving, Dam Square, red light area, shopping streets, canal boat tour - recommended, etc). We had a friendly reception everywhere we went, with English being spoken and help given freely, which was lovely. Amsterdam within […] the canal areas is easily walked and there are plenty of places to stop for food and drink if required. It's not a cheap place to do so though, but the food we had was of good quality wherever we went. Good shopping area too if that's what you're looking for. We did Park & Ride from Bos En Lammer and got the tram (14 or 7) into Amsterdam (return tickets for 4 of us included in the cost of parking,16 euros for 2 days) which stopped within easy walking distance of the hotel and is much better than driving in unless you know where you're going and want to pay for the privilege. The hotel is in several old canal houses, so no lift and steep stairs and don't expect the decor of a 5 star modern hotel. It has character though and gave us what we needed for our short stay so we have no complaints and would definitely recommend it (and we would stay there again too). We all loved Amsterdam and will be back! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Hotell mitt i smeten"
Mysigt gammalt hotell mitt i smeten.

"Fantastisk weekend i Amsterdam"

"Old and charming"

I fell in love with this hotel, when I saw it on the internet. It was, I thought, My hotel - all this old furniture, athmosphere, high class - it looked like home! Also -great views to the channel and nice authenticity. I lost it lately - it occured to be, strangely for the price, 2 star hotel. I found it again, booked and went. The hotel was beautiful, the really charming 3 old houses were connected and it is right on one of the three channels...Right in the center, yet in a very quiet neighbourhood. Gorgeous! It looks like a litle aristocratic mension. I left my suitcase in a coridore and went to my conference (they don't allow early arrivals). I returned at 6pm, 8 hours later and was welcomed by a very friendly and hospital guy, who helped me with everything. I had a nice room (not with a view, but they are way more too exensive) and spent a nice 2 days in Amsterdam. The hotel is old, which I find fascinating, very clean and modest. The breakfast is nice and nothing can replace the view from the breakfast room and the lobby!
"Pleasant stay in great location"
11/16/14 Mark W New York City, New York
My small room up the narrow winding stairs was clean and quiet, but don't expect to watch TV or be woken up by a clock radio: my room had neither. I didn't miss them. The hotel's location is excellent for easy walks to everything you'd want to see. The breakfast buffet will get you off to a good start, followed up by the tons of restaurants all around. Lovely Amsterdam is right outside the door, just watch out for the bikes!
"Late check in"
Check in says 2pm on the booking form. Its almost 3 and we are still waiting. Not exactly off to a good start. Especially as we just traveled 12 hours to get here. The delay in checking in is kinda delaying our plans for the day.
"Just the ticket!"

I booked two rooms, one was the family suite for four members of my family and it was great. It suited their needs and they were thrilled with the bathroom. It had a lovely canal view which they found interesting and entertaining. The second room was also on the first floor and it too had a lovely view of Princengract. The staff are lovely, very relaxed and friendly and always keen to help. The breakfast is adequate and the breakfast room gives a super view if the bridge over the canal and watching the cyclists is an added bonus, and an education. This was my second visit to the Weichmann and I wouldn't hesitate to use it again if I go back to Amsterdam. By hank you very much.
"Good Price for Amsterdam"
11/05/14 LoveTravellingTLT Austin, Texas
We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. This is a functional hotel in a good and safe location. The rooms are sparse and small, as would be expected in a big city. The hotel’s rooms and common areas were clean. We loved sitting in the breakfast room looking out on the street scene. Cars, bikes and pedestrians all working together to get to where they wanted to go. Breakfast was basic, filling, and tasty. Stairs are very narrow and there is no elevator, so don’t bring a lot of luggage into this hotel or you will spend a lot time trudging up and down the stairs. Staff was personable and helpful. I would recommend staying here as the price was good for Amsterdam.

Found this hotel on Trip Advisor and so glad we made this choice. Not much to add to previous reviews--yes we are elderly ( one 68yrs one 76 yrs and one eighty year old.) My sister on third floor single room and we were on second floor twin. The rooms were all that we needed. Great shower, plenty of toilet articles replaced daily. Bed comfortable but could see it might be a bit soft for some--personal choice.Rooms cleaned daily. TV great for us as it had BBC 1 and 2 so we could watch some favourites in the evening. Free access to computer and free sweets and pens at desk--also free rain cajoles in a basket in the hall--nice touch. Re stairs and bags,--the staff couldn't have been more helpful both arriving and departing. We just took it easy and took some photos to impress our friends! Easy distance from most sites and good restaurants. Our room was at the back which suited us for quietness and we had all the views we needed from the lovely breakfast room --breakfast good to! the staff were like all the Dutch people we met. Helpful, polite and the friendliest nationality I have met. Can't praise them enough.

Best hotel on the best canal - homely and professional at the same time - big old dog in the lobby and an alsation too ! Check out café de hoek while you are there on a corner down near the Pullitzer walking towards the anne frank museum
"Great hotel, perfect location with stairs that urban legends are made from"
10/29/14 steve9631 Bellingham, Washington
I loved this place. Great location, helpful staff, terrific view on two canals, reasonably quiet for the location, and an adequate breakfast. What more could you ask? The only thing I can think of would be an elevator, as the stairs are truly amazing. Especially when you're on the top floor. You get used to them after a while, but coming in late on the first night with luggage, climbing them is not unlike climbing a glacier in Iceland. Our room was quite nice, with a full bath, comfortable bed, flat screen tv, and superb free wi-fi connections. Maybe the best part of the room was the view from the front window. You could catch all of the action on the streets, then watch the boats float down the canal. Breakfast: Served on the first floor corner dining room at the street intersection. Coffee, tea, cheeses, bread (with toasting apparatus available), cold cuts, juices. Typical breakfast fare but quite acceptable. What's close: Jordaan neighborhood (good restaurants, shopping, the Anne Frank House, canal bus stop, two tram stops within walking distance, and a coffee shop just down the street). Would I stay here again? I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else in Amsterdam. It's all the stars you can rate it. Great staff as well.
"Eclectic peace and quiet"
10/28/14 Mark A Westcott, United Kingdom
This hotel has been in the family for a long while and the cosy lounges are packed with interesting and quirky collections... Tea pots, cooking utensils, furniture of various uses, paintings and photographs a suit of armour that resembles a steampunk stormtrooper and a gold disc from a well know US country singer. The hotel is spread across three adjoining canal side buildings and has the typical steep stairs (there is no lift) and the breakfast room has large windows that afford great views. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed and the staff (and dogs) are friendly and helpful.
"Bed bugs!!! Beware."
10/25/14 Frankie M Los Angeles
Overall, the hotel was great. Location, great, until I started getting bites on my body here & there over the first few days of my 9-day stay. I assumed it was an allergic reaction to detergent or something for the first few days...Then, finally, after finding a tiny bed bug on my sheets the 6th day in, I realized that I was under full-scale bed bug attack. I left the hotel with no less than 120 bed bug bites & now am left with doing the extreme measures at home to ensure that I don't bring any into my home. So far, so good after 4 days back home, however, I am still having to bake my belongings at high temperature for days, possibly ruining my clothes, shoes & souvenirs, and having to wear horrible welts all over my body when I go out.
