"Everything was perfect except noisy neighbors"
We really enjoyed our stay at Tara Place. The staff is friendly, rooms are clean and comfortable, wi-fi is good, location also good. It's situated on a big street, where you can always find something to eat, you only have to walk for 2-3 minutes. There's free tuk-tuk in the hotel, which will bring you to main sightseeing of Bangkok. So we liked practically […] everything, it was cool. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice, clean, good location."
Just a couple blocks from the chaos of Khao San Rd, but still walkable to the Grand Palace (they also provide free tuk tuks on the way to). Great free breakfast at the new restaurant next door, as well as free coffee, tea, and pastries in the lobby. Friendly staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Friendly staff, loved staying here in Bangkok"
We stayed for 3 nights and were very happy with our stay. Staff are very friendly and the front desk staff speak great English. They offer free coffee/tea/snacks in the front lobby but you can also book with the breakfast option which gives you a free breakfast at a small restaurant nearby. The hotel is well situated - less than a 10 minute walk to […] Khao San Road and maybe a 15 minute walk to a Pier where you can get the water taxi to other areas such as the Grand Palace or the BTS station. Taxis are cheap in Bangkok and definitely ask the front desk staff for a map. There are instructions on it that you can show the taxi drivers so they'll know how to get to Tara Place. We had to leave at 4am to go to the airport and getting a taxi was no problem. It was 400 baht from the hotel to the airport and at took less than an hour. When you get a taxi from the airport, you have the option of the driver using the meter (means you pay road tolls+meter) or they will try to offer you a flat rate. The hotel itself is super clean and newly renovated. We are middle of the road travelers and we were impressed with this place. A lot of people suggest not spending much on a hotel since it's just a place to sleep, but after walking around Bangkok for 8 hours a day, it's really comforting to return to a decent hotel to shower/chill before heading out at night! Would definitely recommend this place if you're looking to explore museums/palace/KSR/etc. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice clean, charming hotel."
This hotel would have received all 5s from me if the night time staff hadn't been so grumpy and dismissive. The big beautiful rooms are inviting and clean and the hotel is very well situated. The daytime staff were absolutely wonderful - helpful, cheerful and kind. (They were like night and day! Tee Hee.) Too bad the night time fellow was our first impression. […] Perhaps the guy was just having a bad day. We will go back in a few weeks and see if it is a trend. Here is hoping he is happier. I would still very much recommend this hotel. "Great service and good value for money!"
Tara Place offers great service. The staff is nice and helpful. They for example call local phone calls for you free of charge. The hotel is quite new and clean. The location of the hotel is quite on the edge of the tourist area which is good if you appreciate good night sleep. Khaosan road is about 10min walk away. "Great hotel & great staff"
Loved staying at this hotel. It was close enough to Khao San to enjoy the party life but far enough away to be quiet enough to rest and sleep. The condition of the hotel is fantastic and the staff are amazing, every time we came back to our room we were greeted with beautiful smiles from the front of house staff. Highly recommend this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Very friendly and helpful staff, always helped us with directions, taxis and afviced about fares and other stuff. The rooms are very clean, spacious and comfortable.
Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great place to relax in Bangkok"
03/05/14 SunshineKid80 Winnipeg, Canada
I stayed here several days during my trip through Asia. I am a woman in my 30's, travelling with a friend. Hotel is lovely. Modern and clean. Rooms are nice. Bed is moderately comfortable (all beds in Thailand were pretty firm). There is a safe in the room. Wifi was pretty good (in room, also works in restaurant nearby). Rooms on the rear of hotel are much quieter than those on the road. Perfect location (about 10 mins from Ko San Road). There is a restaurant about 5 steps from the door. Pretty good food. Excellent coffee. Prices were good. There is also a massage parlour just outside the hotel. Great massages (quite unusual from massages in Canada, but still good!). Ask hotel staff to get you a tuk tuk or taxi when you go out in Bangkok. They will negotiate a resonable price for you in Thai with the driver. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The only downside to this hotel is that the bathroom doors have slats in them and doesn't provide for much privacy in the bathroom. Little awkward when staying with friends. Other tips for Bangkok: Do a guided tour with "Tours with Tong". Great experience! Use public transport with your guide. Also, great shopping at MBK Mall!
"Great budget hotel near by city center."
This was a great reasonably priced hotel near the city center. The staff are incredibly friendly, the rooms are clean, there are shower doors, and there is free tea and internet all day long. I would definitely recommend.
"Modern and Clean"
03/04/14 Platna New York City, New York
Tara Place is a modern hotel and a 10-minute walk to Khao San Road from its location on Samsen Soi 6 (which every taxi driver knows). The scheduled tuk-tuk service to Grand Place, Wat Pho and Khao San is good in theory but we never used it because the times weren't convenient for us (8AM, 10AM to the old city and 6PM for Khao San). It's a 10-minute ride to the old city. To get to Siam Square, we walked 20 minutes along the canal to the Saen Saep Phanfa pier by Wat Saket and hopped on a ferry boat for about 30 minutes. It was fun but not something I'd do every day. Luckily, a tuk-tuk to the pier would be about 60 bhat. Be aware: there is currently a major protest site at the bridge which we had to walk through to reach the pier. We had no problems but it was eerie. The rooms are large and spotless. The beds are a bit more firm than we are used to in the west, and we found that a room with a double bed was actually 2 single beds joined together, but it was still comfortable. The bathroom was very clean and modern. There is free WiFi throughout the hotel. The service is quick and efficient, with porters which will even hail a taxi or tuk-tuk for you - plenty of them on Samsen Road. As the hotel is set back a bit from the main road, there is no view to speak of in most of the rooms. All rooms have safes. The air conditioning worked perfectly. We had a great breakfast at its affiliated restaurant every morning which included eggs, juice, coffee and toast. When booking the room, do not pay for the rate with breakfast - it is an additional 250 bhat in advance, but we paid 125 bhat cash at the restaurant. It's very touristy but nicely air-conditioned with a view of the life on Samsen Road passing you by. It accepts credit cards. The only issue we had was with their ancient iron. Upon requesting one, we didn't notice the rust on it. When it put rust stains on a shirt and I made the staff aware, the employee responded that it was normal since a lot of people used it - and that I should have set the temperature lower. That was not good customer service. I would stay at this hotel again but never use the iron.

We(My husband and I) stayed here for three nights in february. The location is superb, a 7 minutes stroll from Khao San road, close to all the action! But the short walk means it's actually quiet enough at night to be able to sleep. The bed was a bit hard, but compared to other beds in South East Asia it's not too bad. Aircondition worked great also, so the sleep quality is great! Tara Place is not a five star hotel, but I just loved the atmosphere and the location. The staff are friendly and polite. Just outside the hotel there is a tourist office. We bought bus tickets to Siem Reap here. Bordercrossing and the busride to Cambodia is well known for scams and problems. But buying tickets at this tourist office saved us from all the hassle. We probably paid a bit more then others, (1000 Bath per person) but the trip was totally hassle free! And we got picked up at the hotel!
"Lovely Hotel Great Location"

Lovely new hotel so very clean & modern. It's about a 7mins walk to Khao San Rd. They offer free tuc tuc service to Grand Palace. This hotel was perfect for us close enough but far enough away. Wifi at hotel was great. I was room 505 so at the back so did not hear any road noise. Air conditioning is new but have play around. It takes about 20mims to kick in cold properly. TIP:The number on the machine should match with the number on the control. Thanks again Tara's Place
"Love Tara Place"

We stayed here on two different occasions and love it. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Location is good for those who don't have much time in the city, want to be close to attractions and transportation but not too noisy or hectic. Rooms are super clean with modern decor. Ask for a high floor at the back. I agree with others that having a little nicer place to stay in a hot, busy city like Bangkok is well worth it. There are two vegetarian restaurants within 5 minutes walk. A bonus for veggies and vegans.
"Dirt cheap, Clean, Close to Khao San"
02/24/14 Pakioz Melbourne, Australia
Ups: Good location - Close to Khao San Rd. and close to all Backpackers life Very Friendly Staff - They are willing to do anything to help you out with your travel worries Cheap Food All Around - Cheap food and drinks are all around this place Impressive Interior - Both the hotel and the rooms have a very impressive interior design Downs: No exhaust inside the toilette and there are slates in the toilette door which can easily bring the bad odour to the room. See through window in between the toilette and the bedroom Conclusion: For this much price, you will hardly get any place which is close to lots of cheap fun. When booking your room, make sure you ask for a room at the rear end because if you get a room at the front end, then due to noise from the road, a sleepless night is definitely gonna be your prize.
"Very good hotel to visit Bangkok by own"
02/23/14 Gabor6511 Baia Mare, Romania
The staff was very friendly and ready to answer all questions from tourists. The location is ideal for Khao San road, for Grand Palace, and for all main tourist attractions in Bangkok. The room was clean, very spacious for this category. The transfer with the tuk-tuk we can see on the picture is real, it works every morning. The breakfast was ok, but if You stay several days, it becomes boring. The wireless internet connection was ok, the only drawback was to reconnect every time You start browsing. Anyhow, we had excellent 5 days in Tara Place Hotel in Bangkok. Negative: The noise of other (mature) tourist who moved the bed during night-time and bang their doors. But this is not the hotel's fault.
"Friendly staff, great hotel"

We stayed at Tara Place for 3 nights and were really happy with our stay. The entire staff are very friendly and the front desk staff speak great English. They offer free coffee/tea/snacks in the front lobby at all hours, but you can also book with the breakfast option which gives you a free breakfast at a small restaurant/cafe a few steps away. We enjoyed breakfast and especially the coffee (all espresso based). We were on the fourth floor and wifi was strong. The hotel is well situated - less than a 10 minute walk to Khao San Road and maybe a 15 minute walk to a Pier where you can get the ferry/water taxi to other areas such as the Grand Palace or the BTS station (to go onto MBK mall etc). The taxi ride was 3 baht per person. We even walked to the Palace the first time because we weren't sure which boat to take and it wasn't that bad (look for the packed boats with an orange flag). Taxis are cheap in Bangkok and definitely ask the front desk staff for a map of Bangkok. There are instructions on it that you can show the taxi drivers so they'll know how to get to Tara Place. We had to leave at 4am to go to the airport and the front desk was open and getting a taxi was no problem at all. It was 400 baht from the hotel to the airport and at 4am took less than an hour. When you get a taxi from the airport, you have the option of the driver using the meter (which means you pay the road tolls and meter charge) or they will try to offer you a flat rate. Our driver initially tried charging us 450 baht flat but we picked the meter after reading other reviews that suggested it. At around 1pm it ended up costing more for the meter+tolls but not by much (I think tolls were 70 baht and 10 baht). The hotel itself is super clean and newly renovated. We are not luxury high end or extreme budget travelers - we like to book options in the middle - and we were impressed with this place. We had the double bed option but I think it was probably a queen or almost a king by North American standards (this was true of another place we stayed at as well!).
"Did not meet my expectations. Very disappointed."
02/22/14 Tiffany N Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Recently, my husband and I went on our honeymoon to Thailand and Cambodia. We were recommended this hotel, and after checking out Trip Advisor, I booked our rooms. We arrived after a long day of traveling, and were very excited to get to our hotel and relax. We got to Tara Place, went in our room, but even after a few hours, felt hot and sticky. Although the lights were on, the AC was not working. My husband went down and asked the hotel staff to look into it. They came up, fiddled with the remote, turned it off and on, and then placed their hand about an inch from the AC. Then they turned to us, and proclaimed that it worked. Unfortunately, several more hours passed, but the room did not cool down. When we asked about switching rooms, they refused. I wouldn't normally care so much, but we're talking the horrible Bangkok heat here, and AC is essential. If I wanted to stay in a room without AC, I would have paid a heck of a lot less. Also, regarding the location: There is a certain type of traveler that is called to places like Khaosan Road. Now that my husband and I have grown up a bit (mid thirties), we are not interested in drinking until we puke. Unfortunately, that's the type of clientele that Khaosan caters to. Also, we read the reviews and thought that Khaosan Road was "the" place for shopping -- simply not true. The vendors don't care to bargain and everything is about triple the price you can find almost everywhere else in Bangkok. I would advise looking elsewhere.
