"Great deal!"
The location is near to the JR Ueno Station which is a plus. Can smell the cigarrate stint while walking up to the 7th floor - non smoking floor. But there is no cigarette stint in the sleeping pod. In addition, it has coin laundry service. Overall stay is OK considering the price I paid.

Uniforms has to be wore most of the time, this critical partly for security measures but kind of trohblesome at times. But imagine the level of task the management has to handle with that much occupants (150-200?) Not an easy job indeed~

"It's worth it for experience; roomy capsule"
This place was legit. Clean, safe, cheap. Great location and big enough for my 6'1" frame. I checked in about midnight and it was quiet. I even went for a soak and sweat in the morning. All the rules were easy to read and follow. There was plenty of luggage storage. I only brought a small pack which fit in my locker.

"Good last resort - but not for more than one night"
The hotel has a noon check-in, which is earlier than most in Tokyo and a god-send when you're travelling between cities. The hotel is located near Ueno station, which makes for a quick walk to the train station. Akihabara is also a relatively short walk away. Beyond that, when I arrived at the hotel at 11:45. A few of us asked to check in, and the owner stated check-in would begin at noon. This is understandable, so me and a few other visitors asked to sit on the empty couch. The owner demanded we exit the floor entirely and not re-enter until noon. The 'hotel' itself is situated just above a Pachinko arcade just down the street from a rather seedy area, and the rail from Ueno is nearby. As a result, despite the muzak playing in the general access portions of the hotel, you still hear most of the trains speeding by, the occasional blast of pachinko music and verbal fight outside of the arcade downstairs. The room was also very, very humid and warm - the fans don't really contribute too much. There was also someone snoring very loudly, and many people were angrily slamming doors and banging on his capsule until he went out into the lounge area. In summary, it's a good cheap deal, just be aware of what you're getting into. Bring ear plugs, and don't expect too much.

"Excellent value capsule hotel"
You cannot ask for more with the price you pay for this. The advantage of this capsule hotel is the location and accessibility; you will be near Ueno station with 24 hours access. Many capsule hotels have curfews while this one does not. Also, being near Ueno stations means you can reach any other Tokyo districts within 45 minutes by subway/rail. There are vending machines with food and beverages which are convenient if you don't feel like heading out.

"Very close to Ueno Stn., Good Jacuzzi, Fast Wi-fi"
Capsule Room was clean, and it was comfortable to use smoking area inside as well. I believe there is none of any capsule hotel in Tokyo where you can enjoy jacuzzi with THAT price. Wi-fi is very fast in your capsule. If someone snores in your floor it will be horrible though. Most importantly, you should NEVER come there before EXACTLY 12 am. The staff NEVER allows you to check in even at 11:50 am. Toothbrush coated with toothpaste is prepared, so you may not bring your own.

Great capsule hotel. Professional staff, big capsules (more than enough room to move around and sit up straight), hot baths with plenty of liquid soaps, shampoo and shower gels. I stayed for five nights. Every day I got fresh towels and a new yukata and my capsule was cleaned with new linens. Lots to do in area - restaurants, museums, parks and shopping. Great value.

"great experience in the middle of it all"
This was something different! When we wanted to take a shower, we found out that there aren't any western style showers around, everything is communal! We were a little apprehensive at first (being naked around others), but no one cares, no one will look at you. The idea is that you're a guest at the sauna with a sleepover (capsule). You'll be requested to walk around in their attire (robes), and you'll have free use of the sauna facilities, which is great. There's a hot & cold pool, as well as a sauna. What is irritating is the procedure you have to go through when going out/coming in. At arrival, take off your shoes after leaving the elevator to the 4th floor. Go to the desk, check in (some staff don't speak english though), and you'll have to place your shoes in the shoes locker. After that, you'll be handed the luggage locker key (they're small, you may have to place any suit cases in the locker area). Each time you go out, you'll have to hand in your locker key, and you'll be given a piece of paper on which is written your locker number. When coming back, you have to hand them the piece of paper, you'll be given the locker key, and you'll have to change to the sauna robes... The place has a late 70s, early 80s feel to it, which I thought was great. The capsules are OK to sleep in.Do bring your ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. They don't have a lock! So keep your valuables in the locker.

"Clean, great location, foreigner friendly"
Stayed here for one night after having stayed at many other capsule hotels. This one is what I consider to be an average one. Everything is clean but expect the towels to be a bit worn out. Staff is very nice, attentive, some speak English and English instructions are available. My bulkier cabin luggage was kept by the hotel and a smaller "safe" near the reception was provided although I didn't use it. Lockers were of average size. Wi-Fi everywhere with good signal strength and throughout. Capsule was clean with the usual TV and an electrical socket that I used to charge my tablet. Bathing facilities were OK and what you should expect from this kind of establishment. Small sauna also available. Saw several foreigners there so you know that they won't refuse to service you because of that unlike some other places that I've read about. Location is great, very close to Ueno train stations and subway. Plenty of things to do, buy and eat right outside. Only males accepted and no tattoos as is usual in these places. Would stay again if I ever need cheap, clean and well located lodging in Tokyo for a short time.

"First time Capsule"
Being my first time in a capsule hotel, I didn't know what to expect. I had a hard time finding it, but it was due to the directions I printed out. Once I found it in the heart of Ueno it was an interesting process. You put your shoes in a locker by entrance then you get one big locker where you find your clothes to wear while at the hotel/sauna. You can then go to your capsule. I toured the floors with each floor a different thing and top 2 the capsule rooms. It was ok but i could hear others snore and i felt like i had to walk on eggshells the whole time like a library. Overall a great stay for a good deal, I would mos def book again!

"Capsule hotel close to Ueno station"
Hotel staff is friendly but they speak very little English. It is possible to bring a large suitcase but it is just a storage room without locks. There are lockers but they are small. It's within walking distance of Ueno station. Showers are clean but you must shower while sitting on a stool. The hot tub is very nice, especially after walking around all day. WLAN is good, sometimes it disconnects and not always fast. The capsule area smells a little bit and it is not seperated from the smoking area. It can also be very noisy, depending on who is sleeping in close proximity. I did not have any feeling of claustrophobia. They have a tv room with suprisingly comfortable lazy-boy style chairs but it is very smokey. Overall it is ok because it's clean but I could not recommend it to a friend because of the smell and shower arrangements.

we loved it, after 9 nights, it was a very conveniently located affordable option for this expensive destination. Door diciding smokin from non smoking areas, are never closed, we got sick, sore throat, sleeping in smoke. Expedia must tell this hotel, supreme smoking areas on 6th and 7th floors and to close 5th floor smoking area door. With that, hotel is perfect, we will come back again.

"Foreigner-friendly capsule in busy Ueno"
First of all, it's a capsule hotel, so it's not for everyone. However, budget-minded travelers that simply need a place to sleep will find Oriental quite pleasing. The staff may not know much English, but there's plenty of English instructions, and they're incredibly friendly. The facilities are well kept, and includes all the toiletries you would need. There's even a storage area for luggage, so you don't have to pack light if you don't want to. If you're feeling adventurous, a capsule stay in Japan is definitely the way to go.

"Good for a one night stay. Superior location"
Interesting experience, it is abit inconvenience if you have alot of luggages though since you will have to leave your 'checked in size' luggage in a public area with just a tag on there. Smaller luggage you can put in a locker. Sauna (men with tattoos are not allowed) are great, and 24hrs hot food from a vending machine is available (not the best choice in terms of taste). Premium capsule is the way to go, but it's not as comfortable as I thought it would be. Location is excellent with shopping and food basically surrounding you. I would stay one night instead of 2 nights here.

We had a good idea what we were getting into by booking a capsule room but there were some things which were unexpected that I'd like to forewarn other potential clients about. Air conditioning: While there is air conditioning inside the hotel, there is absolutely no type of circulation in the capsules. To say it was hot would be an understatement. I'm the type that needs the room to be cool to sleep and it was extremely unbearable with the capsule's screen shut. Attire: You are forced to wear a uniform while in the capsule. This makes it somewhat unpleasant to constantly change in and out of clothes every time you want to leave the hotel. Noise: The capsules are extremely noisy. If you move around a little bit you can expect to create a fairly large noise which can be bothersome. Also expect about 1 faart per 5 minutes in the night time.

"Solo in Tokyo"
I got the delux room and it's nice. 1st the down side. You can hear everything. People snoreing the train passing by others coming in and out. The room gets stuffy and the fan don't work if the blinder is all the way down. The good points are if you tie open the blinder about 6-8 inches open the capsule feels great. The area where you are at is pretty sweet with places to eat and hang out all over the place. The train station is close and getting lost in Tokyo is great. For a cheap place to stay it was worth it and I would go again.

"Great location, good experience, good price."
Interesting place to stay, get a feeling for the Japanese culture. Small pod is all you get, but has a socket, tv and small shelf. Have to wear hotel clothing, and all belongings live in a locker on the 4th floor (up to 3 floors down). Sauna is good, very strange experience for a westerner first arriving in Japan! Made a new friend by my locker when I first arrived, and 10 minutes later both fully naked in a jacuzzi bath together... Breaks all friendship boundaries quickly! Hotel is busy all the time, people coming and going to the Sauna and businessmen getting up at 5am to go to work. Great location, right in the heart of Ueno, which has so much to do, and on the Yamanote JR Line, so easy to get to everywhere else. Or only a 10 minute walk into Akihabara, which I did several times.

In the hotel you have a sauna with cold and warm bath provided (for free!) Furthermore there are in every floor sales automates for food and drinks. "An interesting experience for travellers"
The place was pretty hard to find based on Expedia reviews only giving an English-character address. But if you are coming from the airport train Kensei Station then the easiest way to get to it is to turn left when you come out, then go under the railway (JR) line bridge and then take the first right. Otherwise it is a pain to navigate around there and its on the alley opposite the shops under the line. The entrance is also pretty hidden but its next to a big building with large DVD neon signs. There are a few on that road so jjust pay some attention when you pass it. Anyway, nice from the line is not noticable - if that is what you were concerned about. Facilities were good. Please bare in mind this is a Sauna hotel. That is, you can use Sauna, Spa, Hot Tub and then sleep in the capsule. You have to change in a communal facilities into some hotel clothes. Felt like Ryu from Streetfighter. No shoes either. You can smoke in the communal area with the TV. But no smoking in the communal area with private TVs. Don't understand other peoples comments about smelling smoke. Perfectly fine. If you have a problem with smoke in public - perhaps Tokyo is not the place for you - cos this place is fine! Great experience for $25 a night.
