"Hostel not a hotel"
This place has nice people but not what you'd expect. It's tucked back in an alley and they book based on available beds not by the room. On my last night there I returned to my room to discover another person there occupying the free bed. It's set more like a hostel than a hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Super rad!!! This is a great spot and wonderful staff! Went beyond our expectations with service. Helped us out in where to go and the cheapest way to do it. Neighborhood was snug and excellent, a true Bangkok experience! Be ready to walk down an alley and see families outside playing with their kids. Close to a lot of hotspots. Especially the No. […] 3 port that can take you to all the best locations! Best sleep we have had in 2 weeks! The AC was ice cold (had to turn it down) and slept amazing. Snug room makes it easy to cool off. Clean and clean. Wonderful stay, go back in a heart beat. Recommend fully, great for price and wonderful staff.' Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
For such an inexpensive price, I was very pleased with everything! The staff was pleasant, helpful, & friendly during every interaction! The building was quiet & clean. Tight quarters, but that was expected! Thanks for everything!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice affordable hotel in a good location"
I had quite a pleasant experience in this hotel. Staff was very friendly and helpful, helped me to carry my heavy suitcase to the floor that i was staying on and gave advice how to get around the city. I stayed on my own in a separate room, which was super small, but it was enough, because in a city like this you want to do see as much as you can without […] staying in a hotel too much. It is really hard to find, so you definitely need to take tuk-tuk form the station. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Overal a nice HOSTEL TYPE stay ... difficult for Taxi, Tuk Tuk drivers to find. Single rooms are incredibly small, and the toilet for big built people is impossible to sit on as no space for legs. As an overnighter just OK.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
This hostel was okay. Not bad, not great. The room was quite small, and had a strange damp smell. There were no top sheets, instead they gave us large towels? Very weird. Also the staff at reception were sometimes grumpy, and sometimes only seemed interested in bringing their friends over to watch boxing on the tv. There was hardly any atmoshere to […] the place, and there was very little in the way of information about things to do in Bangkok. On the plus side, it was very reasonably priced, in a great location near the train station which can take you right to the airport, and the rooms were very clean. Also the air conditioners worked really well. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

I stayed at the Chilli Bangkok after thinking it looked and sounded cool on its website! So glad I did, and I was right to, this place is amazing! The rooms are quite small that's the only thing. But there is free coffee for breakfast, free wifi and free internet and its within walking distance of some really cool parts of bangkok! I loved it!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"One week in Bangkok"
It was a lovely and cosy hostel. I arrived very late but the staff welcomed me with a smile. They are very helpfull. The hostel is hard to find, in the beginning. But the alley where it is situated is very quiet. I really felt safe and relaxed. Defenitivly worth a visit.Genuine Expedia guest review
"It "defines" CHEAP!"
I would only suggest this hostel/hotel to someone who was only intending to pass through Bangkok (that is, a stay of less than 2 days). The rooms are extremely small ergo the beds too. If you are over 5 feet 8 inches tall or are a "wide body" it is unlikely the small "cot" like beds would fit you. Complimentary soap & hair products are not provided […] with your room (toilet paper is), however, the management team will be happy to direct you to the nearest 7Eleven. If you want your room cleaned (trash collected and/or a fresh sheet, you will need to ask and remind the management team on, at least, 2 to 3 occasions. The"Chilli" is, however, reasonably close to Chinatown (15 minute walk or 50 THB Tuk Tuk ride) and Silom (20 minute walk and 80 THB Tuk Tuk ride). The boat to Khaosan Road is very handy (the pier is to the "right" of The Sheraton" and buses, MRT and the long distance train station (to go to Changmai etc) is within a 12-15 minute walk. Another bonus is its proximity to an excellent Japanese restaurant, "Hayana" which is the oldest (est 1976) Japanese restaurant in Bangkok and serves local and imported (from Japan) fish. The management team at Chilli tend to "run hot and cold". At times very helpful but other times almost cold and indifferent. I was questioned by the Night Manager why I used a new towel every day. I would also not recommend any if the massage places close to Chilli ( I looked at 6 of them) over priced and poor facilities. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

This hotel is situated near hua lamphong MRT station. It takes around 10 minute by walk. So if you guys want to go to Ayutthaya or Chiang Mai will be good choice, but room was a bit noisy at night time and on the way to hotel was dark and gloomy. "God service men ringe hotel samt beliggenhed"
Fra det øjeblik vi blev sat af med taxien tænkte vi, hvad er det her for noget. Billigt hotel=lave forventninger.

"clean, but really small rooms"
08/09/14 AlSnow Munich, Germany
The Chilli Hotel is just a 10 minute walk from Hua Lamphong (central station) in a small lane, a bit hidden, but there's a sign on the main street. Getting to popular places like the grand palace is easy, as the Chao Phraya expressboat ferry is just a block away. It's one of the fastest way of transportation as you pass the traffic jams. When I arrived at the Chilli, a nice guy greeted me and handed me the room key. My single-room (No. 306) was really small. It's basically a bed and a bathroom, so almost no space to store the backpack. At least it had a working AC. Like other reviews mentioned, the power outlet is located on top of the wall, so quite difficult to reach. Just ask the guy at the reception, he will lend you an extension cable. The hotel is more like a hostel, so there's free coffee in the morning, safes (bring your padlock), free WIFI and laundry facilities. Stay here, if you need to get to the central station early in the morning or arrive there late.

Difficult to find from airport, taxi didn't know where it was. Booked through agoda, contact number for hostel incorrect so taxi could not call for directions. Difficult for them to find booking at first, no particular welcome and staff seemed ambivalent about us. Room was very small with adjoining bathroom. No sheet to sleep but instead they give you a drying towel material instead. AC ok and wifi average. Clean rooms and bathroom. Average stay, nothing to write home about. Very thin walls!
"DO NOT STAY HERE"

This hostel is awful. Horrible service and mean staff. When I asked the one woman if I could lock up my passport and some stuff she told me it would be fine in my room since I have a single room. At that point I just took it all with me for the day because I didn't trust her now that she knew I had a bunch of valuables. I slept one hour because of obnoxious men in the lobby area who yelled until morning, and the place is loud in general. Not a place i'd want to hang out. Horrible location for exploring bangkok. Room sucked. I'm short and still had to sit on toilet sideways because it was so close to the wall my knees hit. "Window" faced into reception so it was loud and I had to just keep the shade down. Shower floods entire room. JUST GO ELSEWHERE. DON'T GIVE THIS PLACE YOUR MONEY.

My girlfriend and i stayed here at the start of our month in Thailand, The man on the front desk speaks a small amount of English but always went out of his to help us regardless. The hotel is in a nice location, not central but good if you want to see a bit more of real bangkok. All the locals were friendly towards us and would laugh when we rolled in at 6am stumbling around. The rooms themselves are clean, very small but basic, perfect for backpackers. Very very cheap, would recommend to anybody!!

Location not good at all. Atleast 1.5 km from nearest station, more than 8-10 km from all happening places in Bangkok. Had problem to find out the place even not many tuk tuk driver knew. Infra not good. No window in any room and suffocating. But good thing about this place is people working there. I had booking in a dorm, since all dorm were full so got a single room. Met many nice people there. May be next time stay in any hostel in Khao San.

The hotel wasn't difficult to find, the taxi driver dropped us off at the end of the road and we followed the hotel signs down the narrow alley. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable the bathroom was also clean so no complaints from the key requirements. But, the room smelt very strongly of the drains, a sweet sickly, pungent smell. Also the room was tiny, the double bed took up almost the entire room leaving only a small amount of floorspace from the door to the bed where the door to the en-suite is. We were here in the high season but the price of this room was the same as we had been paying for a huge room in the previous hotel, we didn't feel we were getting good value for money. In addition there are no covers for the bed, just two large towels to wrap up in. Never seen that before! The power sockets are almost on the ceiling, I have a 2m USB cable and my phone just reached the top of my rucksack. The location was good if you want to get to the train station, but not very good for sightseeing in Bangkok.
"Not at all bad for the price you pay"
12/08/13 EMI B Edinburgh, United Kingdom
We only stayed here for one night so we didn't get too much of an idea of the dynamics of the place, e.g. the bar area, the night atmos, laundry etc etc. But, one night here after a very long time traveling was everything we needed. The rooms were air con'ed with a hot shower and the bedding was relatively clean and comfortable. The location was reasonably close to china town, which was good for food and the like. More importantly for us it was very close to Hua Lam Pong train station, which, if you're traveling internally or heading to Poi Pet in Cambodia, as we were, it is very handy. I can't really comment more on this as we were there for such a small amount of time. I will say this though, the Chilli Bangkok IS down a small ally way/side street which other reviewers have mentioned, this is not uncommon in Asia and we never felt unsafe or threatened at this location or at any other similar guest houses off the beaten track. My only complaint would be that the double room which my girlfriend and I had was pretty small, there was no room to store our bags without us tripping over them in the middle of the night. Also, the only socket in the room was at head height with nothing for you to rest your phone on whilst it's charging. Luckily, I had a cunning work around, had I not, I might have been a little pissed off. Go prepared. (I've found that poking the prongs of the plug through the top of an old sock and then putting the phone in the sock before plugging it in works quite well). In short, great stop over crash pad. Clean, Safe with lovely friendly staff excellent value for money. Take your own map of Bangkok though, their's is rubbish. :P
"It ain't a bad place at all. Chilled."
I heard about this from a dorm mate in Phuket. The hotel or hostel is in a quite hidden alley so GPS is an easier way to find this place. The design of this building is really cool actually. The room is cheap but small in size. If you failed your BMI (body to mass index) or like 6 foot tall, it is not a good place for you. Otherwise, it is fine for resting and sleeping. Stay here if you are not trying to have vacation inside hotel, duh.. Good for backpackers, for me I tour with my bicycle, so I mostly going out with my bicycle. The hotel is in beside Charoen Krung street, so you can easily go to Yaowarat road (Chinatown) , Rama 4 road and Silom road. Train station is near you plus sky train and Si Phraya tier. You can definitely find a taxi, motor taxi or tuk tuk near you. If you prefer a hotel with more facilities, then find another place and expect a higher price to pay. My room was 205, I got my own toilet, air condition , hot water also. Room was clean but the drawback was the 6 foot high power wall outlet (luckily my charger has long cable). The staff is not fluent in English but it is not a problem to me, at least he know how to check me in. I can simply ask someone out in the street if i need information. I don't mind socialize with strangers, that's why I cycle to Thailand instead of an airplane. This ain't a 5 stars hotel but worth a stay or two if you are backpacking.
"Nice little hotel"
I only stayed here for two nights and it's great for a short stay. Nothing bad to say about the hotel it was clean and tidy although are room was very small, but if you only here for two nights then it's good! No food at the hotel from what we could see but there is lots of good street food stalls around the corner. Hotel is a little but away from all the action but only a ten min boat ride to the temples and various other places. The two guys that run the place are very friendly and informative and go that extra mile to help you out with travel info and maps on how to get there. Would definitely recommend for a short stop over!
"Funky little hotel"
09/16/13 booniepepper San Antonio, Texas
I agree with many of the reviewers who say it's good for a short stay. Not because it is low quality, but because there just isn't room to spread and get comfortable. I didn't plan on spending a lot of time in the room, so it worked out well for me. The rooms are TINY with just enough room for the double bed. I would suggest they put up more wall hooks and shelves so that people have a place to stick their stuff--there isn't much floorspace otherwise. I really liked the industrial look of the spaces outside the rooms--very chic. Super clean. The hotel is located on the edge of Chinatown and 10 minutes from the subway station. Good location, but you will have a walk into Chinatown or further down the street for food. Do be warned it is at the end of a very small residential lane and you'll meet the neighbors hanging out who will watch and comment as you pass. I understand Thai--they weren't saying anything bad;) Just smile like a local. One complaint was that the price of a small Singha was 70 baht. Yikes!! Perhaps the bar would be fuller with more reasonably priced drinks.
