"request the third street side if staying here"
we were located on the second floor if you stay on the 3rd street side, only it's really the ground level for fourth street. Had to listen to tuner cars racing by the window mixed in with the drunks walking by the window and yelling in the middle of the night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Worst stay ever ... mattresses were everywhere as though they had an infestation or something. Not worth the money.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not so great"
So I thought paying a little extra for a hotel downtown would mean its a nicer hotel, I was greatly mistaken. People straight live in this hotel so you have a lot of people hanging out in the hallways/bags of trash. The room was nice but the only reason I give it such a poor rating is because of where it was located (and house keeping never came in […] to clean the room on our 3 day stay.) So this hotel is 2 stories, but it streches out for 2.5 blocks and what do you know, we happen to get the last room in the hotel, which according to my pace counter I have on my phone is 1/4 mile from the hotel lobby to where our room was. This wouldn't have been so bad but our keys did not work in any out of the outside doors so we had to walk this 1/4 mile multiple times a day, which was a great workout but I was here on vacation, not to workout. "One trip wonder"
They were in the process of replacing mattresses in many of the rooms, however the front desk had no idea which rooms were available or not upon our arrival. Very dated and dark. Key card would open other random rooms, deadbolt on door broken, and safety latch would not engage.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
For starters, the bathroom door had been removed from the room. Bare in mind the room was a double. The a/c unit didn't work. In fact, the inter parts to the unit had been removed so the hotel had to have been aware the unit did not work. The curtains had multiple cigarette burns in them and room smelled nasty. The night stand had spilled soda on it […] that had not been cleaned up for a while. And lastly, you had to practically pull the door through the frame to get the lock to work at all. This was a Must due to the fact tht the latch had been removed. Oh and I almost forgot. The hotel is located right by the shipping yard. Starting about 4am, every ship that enters the yard blows is horn which could wake the dead. So as long as you don't mind using the restroom with others watching, dirty rooms, doors that won't lock, sleeping with no a/c or heat, and waking up at 4am, i would say the lofts are perfect. I stayed 1 just one night before continue my trip but definitely is not a hotel where stay again noto even for one night. It's under remodelation but there is no sign about it and nobody advice about it. It smells horrible, they took out the carpet, the corridor is so dark and cripy. I felt insecure in this place. The hotel needs restoration... oh yes […] but they must advice the guest about it and do it in a professional matter. Again not a good experience! !!!! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Our first room was next to the smoking exit, so the outer door opened and closed all night, with people talking very loudly. The tub mat was disgusting, toilet was running (fixed 3 hours later), one "sealed" plastic cup had water in it. They were nice about changing rooms. Second room had 1 chair, we asked for a second one and in 3 days, never got one. […] One bed was not made up properly (the blanket was bunched at the end, not even on bed but under bedspread), had not been vacuumed. The hotel was replacing carpet and painting, we were not told about this at check-in. Came back to room, with wet paint signs, carpet went into the night, outside our door. We then changed hotels. this was the worst hotel stay i have had in my 20 years of travelling. the manager was not available to repsond to my concerns. my biggest problem with the hotel was the cleaning of the rooms. my room was not serviced in the 5 days i was there and everytime i questioned the front desk staff they said they would send someone up and by the time someone […] came it was 900 pm. The beds did not have fresh sheets. Found someone elses' socks in the sheets. :( They did not come to clean the room till 6pm :( They had a fire in the laundry room that forced everyone out of the hotel until cleraed by Anchorage Fire Department. Parking isn't the greatest either. What else do you want me to say?Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Just go somewhere else. The whole place is in "renevation" and smells like fish. First room was essentially on the other side of the world (3 huge wings) and I had possibly the most disgusting hotel room I could have imagined. Asked to switch to something more like what they advertise in their pictures, and they moved me to the same wing but a slightly […] nicer room. Beds had one blanket on it, mildew everywhere, and the tvs are from the 60's. WAY overpriced for the quality you are getting. Spend the extra money and go to the Sheraton or the Hilton down the road, you won't regret it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We waited over 2 hours to get our room (which we had a reservation for). The smell once we got in was almost unbearable. If it hadn't been 1am we would have left, but we were so exhausted from travel that we just had to crash there. The location is great, but I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone ever. It was disgusting.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"No other option"
We stayed this hotel because we could not get a room at other hotels in downtown on our first day in Anchorage. It was very pricey and conditions were very bad. The worst part was that the room and hallway smelled horrible. Luckily, we moved to another hotel from our second night. "Dreadful-don't go there"
We arrived at this scruffy dingy hotel at 10-20 p m having paid #150 approx many months ago for a twin-bedded room. There was no one on the reception desk and a queue had formed. When the receptionist arrived she explained that she had only a double room and it was Expedia's fault for forwarding the wrong info. Although we had the paperwork stating […] we required a twin room the hotel said they had none left and offered us a roll-up bed. We went up to the double room and after an hour of phone calls to the desk we finally settled for an extra mattress on the floor taken from an unclean room plus vouchers for comp.breakfasts. Our room was fairly clean but the sheets were crumpled and unwashed. There was only one sheet for the spare mattress and we ended up making that up just before midnight.. This hotel should not be recommended to anyone. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Not even lipstick on this pig"
The online photos are not an accurate representation of the condition of the rooms whatsoever. When we arrived, the clerk was quite friendly, and gave me key cards to our room in short order. Upon opening the door, we discovered a room that was poorly cleaned and missing a bedspread on one of the beds. After returning to the counter, the clerk was again […] very polite and didn't question my request for another room. That room was also sub par, however, not quite as filthy as the previous one and we didn't feel like we had options at that point since they do not offer refunds. I will not stay here again. We even saw the police investigating a theft from one room. Turns out the owner claims that he employs residents that cannot pay their tab; some of which were just released from the halfway house. Usually you get what you pay for, however, the price was north of $200 per night and I would chose. Motel 6 over this place in a heartbeat. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We didn't stay. After fighting the steps with our luggage, we got to our Delux room and it was awful. We turned right around and asked for a refund and went to the Hilton.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not too impressed"
This hotel just felt very old and unmaintained. The bathroom sink was totally cracked, the hair dryer broke, and on our last day, we found out that we were supposed to have a microwave. It was okay at best, but i would never stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Location is great"
First three days could not sleep - too close to the street traffic. The bed was hard as a rock. Stains on the carpet and carpet needed to be stretched. No coffee machine. Changed rooms for the next two days. This room had very poor lighting in sink area to put on make-up. One of the lights was out over the sink. There was no hair dryer or coffee machine. The […] cafe in the hotel did not have very good food. The eggs were always cooked hard no matter how you ordered them. The variety on the menu was sparse; however, the soup was delicious. "It was much better than I expected when I realized"
The renovations are going to make a big difference. The pool was the main reason I took the room. But it was closed because its being redone and will be a 'salt water pool' when it reopens. The staff was helpful and efficient. We will probably go back whenever we need to stay in Anchorage.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Pool was under construction. Would not refund."
We booked at the Lofts because our children wanted a place with a pool. Upon arrival we were told the pool was closed for construction. Can't comment on the room quality as we never made it that far. Would I book […] there again? Not so sure I would. Customer service lacking. "HOTEL MAKE OVER CANDIDATE"
The doors on the 4th Ave. side did not work. Room keys did not work in the entry ways. Very inconvenient to have to walk all the way around to the main entrance. In the parking lot side in the middle the door was always unlocked; unsafe. There are long term renters and cars fill the [limited] parking and it is apparent some haven't moved in months. […] It's a huge hotel but very limited parking. Loud tenants. The carpets are a mess. We asked for a trash can every day and ever got one. The refrigerator plug could not reach any plugs in the room. We asked for two days for the room to be made. It wasn't done until our last day and then around 5pm. The front desk staff said they made the requests but they were apparently ignored. The hotel says it has a pool. Seeing the condition of the hotel, I'd never get in that cess-pool and wouldn't even "LOOK" to see if it was safe. "Decent value in a city with limited options"
We chose the Lofts because, frankly, it is hard to find a reasonably priced hotel in Anchorage during the summer. Its best quality is the location. You are close to all the attractions along 4th Avenue - including an impressive Farmer's Market on weekends - at "midtown prices." That said, east of C Street (where the hotel is), downtown Anchorage rapidly […] turns into a blighted area. The worst part of staying there was the lack of parking. The Lofts must have at least 100 rooms in it, but a free lot that can maybe hold 20 cars. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
