I like to get up early, have a cup of coffee and a small breakfast and head out for the day. They don't serve breakfast here until 9am, which I think is late for business and leisure travelers. We had little interaction with the hosts and no orientation or invitation to the spaces available to us to use. I would not stay here again, nor reccomend it […] to a friend. For the cost, it was not worth it. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"billed twice, so be careful to check statement"
Good location for us as we were to attend UBC graduation at 8:30am the next morning. Room was clean but "private bath" means room down the hall, not in the room, so do bring a bathrobe (none provided). No soap in the shower, had to use the nearly empty liquid handsoap by the sink. Inside of house is nicely decorated but grounds need maintenance; there […] are weeds growing up in the bricks of the patio and steps. Parking is on the street nearby; seems safe enough. Hot breakfast not served until 8:30am so we missed that, but there is a coffeepot, bread, butter, jam, cereal, bananas, juice, yogurt. Had to take the coffeepot downstairs to the bathroom to empty the old coffee and rinse the pot out before making a pot for us early risers (kitchen not available before official breakfast time). Julia was cheerful and polite, but whoever does the billing isn't too careful as we discovered that we had been billed twice for the room, once the day after we reserved through hotels.com (expected billing) and again 2 weeks later. That is still being resolved (I hope!). Turns out hotels.com does not do the billing itself on B and B's but simply passes on the credit card information, so do watch out for that! Neighborhood is not bad, small cafes are only a short walk away. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Comfortable and Friendly"
We rented two rooms for a weekend for four people in our family. The house was quite nice, well maintained, and comfortable. Julia was very friendly and helpful. The neighborhood is really nice, it's easy to park (which isn't the case in a lot of Vancouver), and there's business districts with good restaurants in easy walking distance to the north and […] south. We didn't try out the public transit, but some of the other folks staying at the hotel at the same time had, and it wasn't too onerous to get downtown on the bus. There's both cold continental and hot food offered at breakfast, and the fridge, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker are available 24/7, along with cold cereal, beverages, and whatever else is in the refrigerator for guests to use. "Fantastic Full Service B&B"
Located in a quiet, tree lined neighborhood, this cozy bed and breakfast really surprised us with how helpful the staff is. The amenities, like homemade bacon and eggs, wifi, laundry room, etc., were excellent and worked well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"lovely common areas"
The location was very convenient for our purposes; the room was small but adequate; the hostess was very friendly. The common areas were very clean. Our only concern was the level of housekeeping in our room. The card on the desk stated the room would be cleaned daily but we arrived back to unmade beds, uncleaned bathroom and full garbage containers. […] We had to ask for fresh towels. The second day the bathroom was cleaned and fresh towels provided but the beds were unmade. Also the card on the desk stated breakfast would be served at 8:30 but the hostess informed us breakfast was at 9:00. We would have preferred an earlier breakfast time. Pleasant, small room, comfy. Noise from other guests was a problem. Breakfast was standard fare..OK. Location in Kitsilano was good. Quiet street and plenty of parking.Genuine Expedia guest review
This is a nice house, run by a nice couple. I arrived late in the afternoon on Halloween. However, they had left a note on the front door for me, telling me to call them as they were out trick or treating. When I called, they explained the door opening code. The house is clean, tidy, modern, and well kept. My room was really nice. The owners are really […] nice friendly people. I would recommend this place, without reservation. "location was great"
Room was small but fairly comfortable. There was a living room available for guests and access to a fridge to store drinks and access to fruit, toast, tea, coffee, juice at all times. Would recommend.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

We thought Camilla House might be a good alternative to a downtown hotel for a wedding in West Vancouver. For the price we expected a comfortable, spacious room and a palatable breakfast. We would have been far better off in a second-tier business hotel. To be fair the weather was unseasonably hot for mid-July in but our cramped second floor room proved hotter than a sauna equipped as it was with windows that barely opened and an underpowered ceiling fan that simply recirculated that hot air back at us. It was inexcusable that additional fans or air conditioning had not be provided. The difficult night was made worse by rock-hard pillows. We were at the breakfast table early hoping for a breakfast to make up for the night's travail only to find a paucity of menu items, greasy undercooked bacon and poor quality sausage. The coffee and the conversation were the only positives. Recommend you avoid at the height of summer unless one books the basement rooms. Far too expensive for the quality rendered. Warning: shoes must come off at the door.
"Very good but overpriced "
Only issue I had was when we arrived they had not put us in the right room, so me and my cousin had to share a double bed which wasn't ideal. Julia was very nice however & it's in a quiet location not too far from Downtown Vancouver. Would stay again but not for as long as we did (2 weeks) as I'm sure that we could of found somewhere cheaper at the same standard.
"Nice Little B&B"

This is a nice little b&b, in a quiet residential area, worked out well for us as we stayed 2 nights as part of a road trip (finding somewhere in the city to park can be expensive), parking was available it the street. Julia was very accommodating when we got back late one night and wanted to order take out. The breakfasts were fine, I informed her I was vegetarian which was not a problem. There is a no shoe policy inside the house which is fair enough, there is space to leave your shoes by the door and slippers to wear instead.

First of all, let me clarify! We booked with camilla house in 2000, for a 15th anniversary. Im sorry, but I can't remember the lady's name that we dealt with! I've just been reading the reviews and have to say I'm VERY surprised that there are some very bad reviews! When we booked, it turned out that camilla house was booked solid, but the lady said she has another house that she could put us up in! "The house where the cast of X-Files stayed when filming!" Its very obvious to me that its not being managed like it used to be! SADLY! Our experience was FANTASTIC!! We had been given a number to call when we got there, and the lady came and let us in......showed us around.....said she'd be back in the morning to make us breakfast! We had the entire place to ourselves. This place was very well decorated. It had a beautiful spiral staircase up to our room. The lady was apologizing because "the place needed updating"! Could have fooled me!!! It was gorgeous! The next morning she came back and made us the most awesome breakfast....eggs, fresh salmon, bagels, jam, coffee....to die for! Anyways, I am very disappointed to hear the service is not as good as it was back then! They truly knew what customer service was all about! I hope, for the sake of future customers, AND, for the sake of the owners of this company, that they look seriously at what they can do to change the bad reviews back into the reviews I gave it for what it was 15 years ago! That would be time much better spent than working to justify every action that the customer was unhappy about! Where I come from, "the customers always right"!! They are the ones that keep the business afloat! :). Something has to change drastically!

The room was very nice and the bed large and comfortable but I definitely would not stay here again or recommend it. Breakfast was late (9:00), skimpy, and we had to find cutlery, glasses, plates and juice and set the table ourselves. Julia made coffee but would not make tea, asking us to use a water dispenser in the hall which was awkward to use and the water tepid. There were 3 basic cereals and cheap bread, with some packages of marmalade and peanut butter; we were offered eggs and bacon which were adequate (though when I asked her for a boiled egg she left it on the stove while talking on the phone for about 10 minutes). We left the room for the morning, and when we returned in the afternoon the bed had not been made. The ad says specifically that rooms are cleaned daily, so I asked her if our room would be cleaned to which she cheerfully replied "Oh yes, we clean the rooms after you leave." The next occupant may be relieved to hear this. When pressed she did in fact make our bed and empty the garbage. I don't think this is actually the worst B & B I've ever stayed at, but certainly it is one of the worst, and overpriced for what it offers.
"An excellent stopover"

Very hospitable, comfortable and reasonably priced in the Kitsalano area of Vancouver. The owner greeted us with enthusiasm and was always trying to help. We arrived with some ski gear which did not deter her in any way.
"give this one a pass - not worth it"
10/22/13 MLH922 Victoria, Canada
B&B definitely needs upgrading - showers have mold, carpets are very outdated, etc Breakfast is below par for a B&B. Poor amenities - eg: skimpy towels in the bathroom, no bathmat, no stand to place luggage in the room, etc, . The B&B is located in a residential neighbourhood so it not close to tourist spots. On the positive side, there is free parking. However, overall, not worth the price. I would not stay there again.
"Worst B and B ever"
10/20/13 saynotocamille Wytheville, Virginia
Julie is one of the least hospitable people I have ever met. No one ever answers the phone. The tv in our room did not work, and it was not clean. Private bathroom was far from clean. Mildew in the shower and on shower floor and hair... Breakfast was not served until 9:30 AM and consisted of 2 eggs. Definitely not worth the money. Stay away from here!
"NO Cancellation policy!!"
09/08/13 Rick542013 Chilliwack, Canada
WARNING: Camilla B&B actually has a NO CANCELLATION policy*!! Be ABSOLUTELY sure of your stay BEFORE booking! Even if you successfully CANCEL your booking through Booking.com, you will be CHARGED the TOTAL PRICE of the reservation* plus tax!! Even when they give your room to someone else, you still get stuck with the whole bill! The owner Julia is completely closed-minded and absolutely inflexible regarding this draconian policy. *If cancelled later than 7 days before date of arrival or in case of no show, 100% of the reservation will be charged!
"Nice B&B in Vancouver"
08/13/13 ZoomOttawa Ottawa, Ontario
We stayed at Camilla House for two nights in early August. We were very happy with the accommodations and the buffet breakfast was well done. The location is excellent, close to everything we wanted to see in Vancouver. About 10 minutes from Granville Island and maybe a bit more to downtown Vancouver. The B&B is located in a very nice upper-end area of Vancouver, close to the University of B.C. and a short drive to Kitsilano Beach. It may appear expensive but if you compare it to a reasonable hotel (don't forget to include $30 per night for hotel parking) it's a bargain. I will definitely stay here again on my next Vancouver visit.
