Be sure to not stay in a traditional room! Very loud mechanical noises (roaring motor and banging pipes) late evening and again early in the morning. Also there were no robes and a 1980's TV, making it very difficult room to enjoy any relaxation or rest. The dining experience was the most positive part of our stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great place for Boaters"
We stayed one night as part of Trent boating trip. Everything was great, terrific room (Waterview Suite w King bed), very nice property & facilities, good docking, very good restaurant, good food, very attentive service, reasonable prices. We really liked it and will definitely go back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"One hr to 30 thousand islands boat cruise"
We stayed in the honeymoon suite. Prettiest and largest suite we ever experienced ( we have stayed in a lot of 5 star hotels ). The room has a lovely balcony overlooking the water and we watched 2 mink, fishing and play in the water every morning. Although the restaurant is expensive, the food was delicious. The Inn has a wonderful tranquil feel about […] it. I would love to return one day. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very nice Muscoka get away"
The staff was very friendly, and the service in the dining room was great. We stayed in the King size room on the 2nd floor, beautiful room, except there was no door on the closet and no table by the chairs and sofa. The hand shower was leaking. There is a nice little beach on the grounds, but very hard to get in due to stones etc. They have several […] docs there, why not putting a little later on the dock to get in and out????? "Less Than Expected"
Arrived, confirmed spa appointment and dinner reservation with front desk when checking in. Room nice, however, no refrigerator, difficult to keep a bottle of wine cool while having to take an elevator to the 2nd floor for ice. The bathtub drain was plugged. On 2nd day, stopped by spa to confirm arrival and was informed that appointment (which was booked […] by phone directly with spa) did not include couples massage as booked. Ultimately, spa personnel were able to accomadate after some juggling, however, not with RMT so they refunded one of the couples massages. Later that evening, arrived for dinner only to find no reservation, (this after confirming with front desk upon arrival the day before) Server was able to seat us in restaurant that had only four tables being used ????? Dinner arrived, and sirloin steak cooked extremely well done, not medium rare as ordered, had to return to kitchen and we ended up eating our meals seperately. Refunded steak dinner as well. Ultimately, will not go back. Although refunds of spa and dinner were prompt, I would have preferred they get it right the first time. Dissapointed. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"KING SIZE ROOM WAS VERY OVER PRICED,EXPECTED BETTE"
EXPECTED BETTEROFF SEASON RATE THAN $269. THIS DID NOT INCLUDE ANY MEALS OR PERKS. OTHER THAN THAT VERY PLEASANT STAY AND LOCATIONGenuine Expedia guest review
I booked our room at Christies Mill after reading the reviews for the Inn. My husband and I were looking for a nice place to stay after a trip to the cottage to see how it was holding up with all the snow. The cottage is not winterized so we were treating ourselves to a 'night out' instead of coming back to the city. I booked the room on expedia for […] a fairly reasonable rate, though higher than other hotels in the area. From the pictures I saw, I thought we would be able to sit back in our room and take in some winter scenery. Unfortunately, our room had one small window that faced the roof line and had absolutely no view. This is really unfortunate considering we were at an Inn in northern Ontario and not a hotel in Manhattan. It was sort of depressing. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We had a lovely stay. The staff were exceptionally friendly and the resort was charming and relaxing. We decided to book a couples massage and really enjoyed that. A truly relaxing and enjoyable experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the staff was great, very friendly and looked after anything you asked, along with a great smile always. The breakfast buffet was good, so was diner. during diner there was a 2pc group playing great blues and easy enjoyful music made our stay at diner even longer. "Nice, a little pricey for such small rooms."
Staff was pleasant, the interior public areas are nice. The exterior needs attention due to peeling paint and ugly materials. The rooms were quite a bit smaller then I am used to for the price. Overall though, a nice hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Not what I expected"
I would recommend the Inn depending on the accommodation. We went to celebrate my birthday and based on what I had seen on the internet & website I was quite excited to go because it look really nice. The Inn itself is lovely and the grounds & view beautiful, however our room seemed to be in an older (or perhaps not updated) part. Our room was quite […] small, the carpet was worn & looked dirty, the drapes looked old and one of the bedside lamps was plugged into a power cord outlet that ran across the corner of the room. The hallway was rather dark and the outside looked like it could use some TLC. I think we were put into that part of the Inn because we had our dog with us and that must be the "pet friendly" part. The other wing of the Inn that had rooms was much nicer, the halls were bright and looked newer. The rooms looked much nicer too from what I could see from the outside. We didn't use the pool or spa, but we did eat in the dining room and the food was very good. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Because of my disappointment with the room I can only say my stay here was ok. My advice would be to find out exactly where you will be staying if you decide to go here. "A Great Couples Escape"
I only wished we could have stayed longer!! The room we stayed in (lake view with balcony suite) was amazing, tranquil view, fireplace was cozy and bed was to die for.. I don't remember the last time I had such a comfy wonderful sleep!! Had spa services which was exceptional and Both Dinner and Brunch (just stayed sat night). Food was amazing! It was […] a bit cooler so didn't really get out and about much but would have been nice to maybe see a few lit outdoor fireplaces outside in the evening. Another suggestion would have been maybe to of had complimentary Coffee and Tea and maybe a newspaper in the morning.. Just to tie the early riser over till Brunch. I took full advantage of a sleep in but Hubby was up early with nothing to read or drink. Overall a wonderful escape from the craziness of my day to day chaos.. Will Def be back.. Someday soon I hope!! :) Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We booked for two nights and everything was there for a perfect getaway! Free canoe rentals, pool, hot tub, sauna and no flies or misquitos! I would suggest to go to the restaurant down the street, the fancy one in the hotel was pricey and my meal was just okay. No fridge in the room either. IGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Not what I expected"
The standard room I was given had a nice soft bed which I love but there was no comfortable chair or sofa to sit in. I was most disappointed with the TV. It was small, outdated and had only one station worth watching "OLN", the other few stations were weather, news and sports. The picture quality was bad and not even a remote. The window AC kept making […] loud popping noises and woke me up a few times so I ended up just shutting it off. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Nice and peaceful"
Stayed in a suite overlooking the lake , the view was great and worth the upgrade. breakfast buffet was a bit disappointing, but servers were very nice and polite. Try the neighboring restaurent ( the dam mill) great atmosphere... Will be coming back to Christie's Mill inn if we were in the areaGenuine Hotels.com guest review
I found the accommodations a bit dated, but we were also in a standard room on the parking lot side, so the upgraded rooms on the lake side may have been nicer. Otherwise, not a thing to complain about. The staff were extremely pleasant and accommodating, even though I had to change around several spa appointments and a dinner reservation due to my […] own poor planning. The food was delicious and the spa treatments were great. We did not take advantage of the canoe/kayak rentals, but others said they had a great time. Lovely place overall. "Value for a WagJag Deal"
09/16/14 Annabelle T Sarnia, Canada
I booked this trip for an Anniversary trip. I did not want to pay the overpriced rates at some of the other Ontario Resorts ($300+ a night) so saw this deal and thought it was value for money. The Hotel was just that, value for the price we paid. If I had paid full price I might have been disappointed. I upgraded to a King size bed which turned out to be in the old part of the hotel. It was worth the extra $25 a night for the larger bed which was very comfy. We also had our own private terrace (room 217). The older part of the hotel needs some TLC. Carpets need to be replaced and some modern amenities need to be put in the rooms, e.g. flat screen TVs as we had an old portable Tube TV. The bathrooms also needed a refresh. We ate in the restaurant there both nights for convenience sake. We stayed Saturday and Sunday and on the Saturday night the restaurant was busy. We had booked a table in advance but the wait staff could not hide their stress on how to manage the volume of guests and the kitchen did get backed up. The wait staff could also do with some customer service tips (e.g greeting guests and making conversation). On Saturday we sent an appetizer back to the kitchen as it was cold and I had to do the same with my Prime Rib on the Sunday (even though the restaurant was not that busy on this night). Breakfast that came with the package was good. Anyhow, minor details. This Inn could be Four star with some upgrades and customer service training. As mentioned for a Wagjag package this was an OK value. I didn't pay a very high price so didn't have too high expectations.

I purchased a Wagjag Deal and spent the weekend with my boyfriend. We did however read all the reviews on TripAdvisor prior and made the choice to call and upgrade to the newer part of the hotel and this was highly recommended. We stayed in a Water View Suite in Room 232 with a private patio. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! The room was clean, comfortable and Romantic. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine and chocolates and the view was AMAZING! Food was FANTASTIC! we enjoyed the Lobster Tail & Stuffed Chicken on Friday night, Saturday we enjoyed a Sirloin and Stuffed Zucchini Dish. A little pricy but you get what you pay for here! Breakfast.. is was good as long as you got it while it was brought out fresh. Great choices just get it while its fresh is all. A place for pure relaxation, loved how there were no children around. Very quiet and enjoyable I must say! Not a lot to do in this quiet town but we had fun anyway! Will be returning for sure! Spa services are exceptional as well.. we had a couples massage and pedicure. Loved it!
"Do not attend a wedding at this resort"
09/06/14 drewbie58 ontario
We were guests at a wedding at this resort and felt so badly for the bride and groom. It seemed that everywhere they turned, there were more problems trying to set up for their wedding and their guests . The accommodations were a minimum of 2 nights and priced way above market value for the quality of the room. This Inn is deceiving . One half is more updated, but the rooms are $300.00 and up. The other half of the Inn is the old part. The rooms were old and needed updating. Carpets were dirty. Of course, The brochure and web site only show the expensive rooms. This is the only hotel, we have stayed at, that only has one bed in the room. Some guests couldn't bring their children as the rooms would not accommodate them. The breakfast was cold, although the wedding reception food was great. There is nothing to do at the resort although the brochure paints a picture of a wonderful getaway. Congratulations to the marketing people on this property!!!! If you are a bride and thinking about this as your venue.....don't...choose someplace else. Both you and your guests will be so much happier.

We came up to this resort with another couple on their boat and stayed two nights at their dock. Originally this trip was planned for July, and we were actually planning on STAYING at the resort while they stayed on their boat. Because the trip got cancelled and booked at the last second, we decided not to make another reservation and play it by ear. Of all the NUMEROUS Ontario Inn's in the $250.00+ range/night we have stayed at, I feel we dodged a huge bullet by not staying. First of all, we tried calling and left a message to find out which boat slip we were supposed to use. One thing you need to know about Christie's Mill is that they DO NOT answer their phones. At first it was a joke amongst us, having all tried calling several times over the summer, but when their very miserable, unsmiling receptionist stated 'we don't answer the phone, we keep the ringer off and try to return voicemails as we can', it was down hill from there. The staff are just pain RUDE, from asking a housekeeper for directions, to asking the reception person at the spa for information about the spa (she never even looked at us), to the fact that they had a room near the beach with about 10 drunk 20 yrs old men acting rowdy off a second story room like this was some motel, was a confirmation to us that we will NEVER stay at this nothing-more-than-an-upgraded-holiday-inn. The ONLY reason I am not giving this a 1 is because the dining room staff were quite exceptional, and the food was decent at dinner. The $12.00 buffet is just that so don't expect anything fancy like most nicer Inns do. Heather was very good serving us at dinner and I tipped her accordingly and Dan was most attentive to us at breakfast. It seemed like the restaurant staff were managed completely separately from their front end. Strange because anyone in any business will tell you how important your first impression is. Fortunately if you up this way your are not at a loss. We walked over to Rawley's for an after dinner drink and know exactly where we will be staying next summer's boat trip, or maybe even before.

We spent an amazing long weekend at the resort's cottage. The service throughout the weekend was great, and the weather cooperated as well which made it perfect. Recommend taking a boat tour on the surrounding lakes, the scenery, ride and overall experience was wonderful. The restaurant was very good, we enjoyed the lamb and the lobster very much.
"Needs loving care"
08/16/14 dentalOntario Ontario
This was our first time to this inn. We were on a wag jag deal. It is important to know when going here that there is an Old section and a New. The rooms are in the old and there are three categories. The new section is only suites and those rooms are lovely. However on either side it is important to get water view. Balconies on old side are shared so people are walking past lots. We had the top level room in the old--- carpets were filthy-- really dirty and there was dust in the ornate carving of the little side table inches thick. More attention to this is vital. Our room was large but furniture was chipped and dusty. I would have been disappointed and angry if I had paid full price as there is no excuse for filth at a spa and inn. Breakfast was cold both mornings even when several people complained the first day. Dinner was lovely and view was great so we did not mind our 1 hour wait. The second night we went to the Rawley inn next door for dinner(which other guests told us about as they were changing to it on their last night.). The meal and surroundings were elegant and wonderful. There was a piano player who also sang and it was such a nice spot. It was upscale and really not much different in pricing at normal rate. This Christies inn is in a lovely rustic spot with wonderful views but they must give it the loving care it deserves to have people come back. There were no tables in the rooms for card playing on rainy days and there is so much they could do to make the time welcoming at the inn because as others have noted, there is no where to go on rainy days. Hope that love is given so this gem does not die.

my experience was exceptional, great service and guest services made me feel at home!II spoke to a young lady named Rebecca and she was such a positive and humble young lady that was able to meet all my needs during my stay. Definitely will be coming back and letting others know about my great stay at Christies Mill.
"Nice Getaway Hotel"
08/15/14 petitecritique Brantford, Canada
We took advantage of a WagJag Promotion and stayed in the middle of the week. Unfortunately for us, the weather didn't cooperate, but that isn't in any way a reflection of the hotel. This property does have a certain French Country flair. Our room was nice and cozy, but I wouldn't consider it luxurious. Nice comfy bed with duvet and lots of pillows. We were in the older section of the hotel, I didn't get a glance of the newer rooms, but ours still had an electric fireplace and we had a lovely view of the lake. The rooms on our side of the hotel did not have 'private balconies, but we could step outside on the 'shared balcony' which runs the length of the hotel on the side we were on...no big deal to us. It was nice to have free wifi. The staff at the inn were all very friendly and accommodating. Sarah at the front desk even managed to get us some robes to use (I believe they're meant for the upgraded rooms). We did take advantage of the indoor pool and hot tub which boast a great view of the lake. We also ate in the restaurant 'Twigs', which was wonderful. A little pricey, but the atmosphere is lovely and again boasts a beautiful view of the lake no matter where you sit inside. The buffet breakfast is hardy and included scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, French toast, pancakes, yogurts, fresh fruits, breads, juices, coffee & tea. Plenty to get you started for your day. The evening we had dinner featured an 'all you can eat ribs' special. My husband took advantage of this. I sampled a rib, they fell off the bone and were delicious and meaty. They kept offering to bring more! Very generous and attentive wait staff. I also enjoyed the Chorizo sausage and pasta I ordered. I enjoyed their restaurant very much...elegant with an amazing view. We lingered a little later at the bar and sampled some nice specialty coffees. The hotel has a lovely spa, although I didn't use the facilities. There are also kayaks and canoes on the property to use, but because of the rain, we didn't brave the weather and use them. I also peeked at the cardio room, there are 3 machines, if you want to work off the calories. The property is located in Port Severn. I didn't realize there wasn't anything to do here on a rainy day. It's a small hamlet with no downtown area, just a few little hotels and a couple places to eat. We checked out lock 45 which was within walking distance of the inn, but we saw and conquered within a half hour. My husband and I did journey to the quaint little village of Coldwater nearby and strolled the main street shops there. We were pleasantly surprised by our visit to the Marine Railway in Big Chute (next exit off the hwy). It carries boats over the road! It's truly one of the most incredible things I've ever witnessed! Well worth the visit. I enjoyed our time at this inn but was a little disappointed with the room as it was not as nice as the pictures I saw on the internet, which are the upgraded rooms on the newer side of the hotel. I do understand that we took advantage of a promotion and didn't pay full price for our room though. I would recommend this hotel, it was relaxing, tranquil setting with lovely restaurant, spa and outdoor activities. Staff is lovely.
"Need to re train staff"
08/14/14 Birtrum_13 Toronto, Canada
Attitude of reservation staff stopped us from staying there....no wonder the competition has full occupancy and Christie's don't....need to train staff to have a better attitude in booking rooms, the person on the desk at 8.40 Thursday night August 14, 2014 was downright rude.
"Stay away from this place!"
08/14/14 Crystal2TORONTO tORONTO
1. Person at checki-n was rude, condescending and flustered. 2. Carpets were filthy in the room. 3. Lipstick on the towels. 4. Drain on bathroom floor was dirty. (I didn't check too much else in the first room after what I had already found!) We were given a second room, but it didn't have a door to outside - which was what we wanted. We had a lovely view of people sun-tanning (Argh!) and people walking by our room and looking in when they did so. They made it up to us by offering our two bottles of beer!!!!!! Too much. It was expensive and not worth the money. We even paid extra for the view!
