Very nice B&B in beautiful area of NH would stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great B&B close to the lake."
Breakfast was good and everyone staying there seemed to really enjoy themselves. I was very envious of the rooms we saw in the second floor that had wifi, lake views, and comfortable blankets. Our bed was as hard as a rock, the blankets consisted of two firm coverlets, the pillows were hard and on the third floor we didn't have wifi in our rooms. I […] think had we had a more comfortable bed, my review would look like everyone else's. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Perfect place to stay for any occasion!"

My husband and I loved our stay at the Inn. We stayed 3 nights and were so very comfortable the whole time. We had a queen bed on the third floor and it was very comfortable. The entire inn is decorated nicely and the two sitting rooms are very cozy. We loved the old stove fireplace. Breakfast was nothing short of amazing! It's worth staying here just for the food (German apple pancakes, Scotch eggs, hand squeezed orange juice...) Everyone that works at the inn is nice and accommodating. They made us feel at home. The inn itself is beautiful and right next to the lake.
"Bicycle trip in NH Lakes Region"

Oh my goodness! We were so fortunate with the choices we made on our annual bike trek. My girlfriend and I go somewhere in New England every spring or early summer and we just loved what we found. Follansbee could not have been better, really! When I asked for twin beds, I did not expect separate sleeping areas. What a nice feature. It was one room, yet to the left of the entry was one large comfy bed and to the right another. The linens and comforters were to die for, so luxurious and pretty. Our room also had lake views even though the lake is just across the street diagonally. We started out each morning with a brisk walk around the lake, only about 1.5 miles, I think and then - what an amazing breakfast. Delicious, quality foods, not just a bunch of carbs and sugar, but real food that took time, money and craft to create. Dinner was just as top notch and when upon a whim I asked for a brandy or apertif Dennis replied "what kind would you like?" I don't think there is anything that Dennis cannot provide. Please, don't let yourself pass by this region without giving this Inn a visit.

We stayed over Columbus Day weekend with a group of friends. It was perfect for us, and we enjoyed every minute. Denis was a very hospitable Innkeeper, and his breakfasts were amazing. We enjoyed scotch eggs, praline bacon, the best cheese grits I have ever had, plus delicious baked ham (would love to know his secret). We loved coming back to the Inn with our friends in the evening to a warm fire and a glass of wine. It was great having a place we could get together and chat. We had a lovely room on the 3rd floor, very comfortable bed and a view of the lake. We would definitely return, but would ask for a room on the second floor. The stairs were our only drawback. All our friends enjoyed their stay also.
"Excellent alternative to the "Big Box" Hotels"

This Beautiful Inn is worth serious consideration, when looking for an alternative to the hotel chains. Located in a peaceful setting, the property is ideal for photography, walking, and relaxation. It takes a great amount of resources and commitment to keep an 1840s Inn running. In my opinion, this property will only become more valuable, as it's new owners already have been featured in a local publication. Businesses looking for an offsite venue, or monthly meeting groups should also consider this property. I was impressed with the owner (Denis), who takes time to converse with guests, as he goes about cooking daily breakfasts and attending to the daily inflow of new arrivals. "Book here first or book here last. Whatever you do, don't let this pass." The staff was also very accommodating.

What can I say? I was absolutely impressed! After staying in New London at a local motel for 30+ years, I will never stay anywhere but at The Follansbee Inn from this point forward! We arrived and found a quaint historic house. I love the rustic charm that historic houses have and Dennis, the owner has worked to maintain the charm of this home. Our room was clean and cozy. The heat has its own control which we immediately turned off and we opened the window because we are huge fans of the cool autumn evenings. I had the opportunity to explore the sights and across the street from the Inn was an amazing view of the lake. There was access to canoes, kayaks, paddle boats, etc. Our time was limited so, I just enjoyed the late day sun and Autumn foliage, I cannot have found a better place. We had plans with a family friend that lives locally and upon our arrival back at the inn, we were pleasantly surprised with a fire already lit and well under way in the fireplace. The living room was very comfortable and the homemade chocolate chip cookies on the coffee table were such a great touch. (and delicious to boot!). Dennis has a bar in the living room, and although he does not have a liquor license, you are more than welcome to enjoy your own bottle of wine for which he has available glasses, ice and cork screws, etc. A glass of wine by the fire was almost too perfect! Throughout the downstairs, Dennis had candy dishes with little treats available for whomever wished to enjoy them and in the main hallway, was a dish of local apples Our room was so quiet. I actually thought that maybe we were the only ones that stayed the night. The comfort of the mattress was better than my own bed! The many people we met up with had been staying there several days and raved about the breakfast that Dennis makes. We, unfortunately had prior breakfast commitments and hopefully on my next visit, I get to see what the rave is all about. If you need it, but don't see it- ask for it- seems to be the undertone at the Follansbee. Dennis aims to please and I have no reservations about saying that we were DEFINITELY pleased with our stay at the Follansbee! Great job Dennis!

This place is gorgeous, and the owners wonderful. All old world charm - antique furniture, fireplaces, lots of books. I came tired, and left happy. My room was a corner unit with a pretty view. Woke up to a lovely foggy lake. A swing, and big hammock for guests. Breakfast was great, loved the artfully presented yogurt parfait. And you cross the road to a General Store. Run by Bob, there has been a store at that site since the 1820's. He was almost closed when I got there, but he let me get in and let me buy some contact lens solution that I needed. And there is a dog called Angel who is very fluffy. Dennis was very understanding, and accommodating of my needs. I will be back.
"Such a perfect spot"

Our rooms were pretty though the stairs were rather steep. The inn is besides a pretty lake and at no additional cost you have use of bicycles to ride around the lake and canoes to row in the lake. There are water bottles in a cooler you can help yourself to. There is a general store where you can get great pizza or hamburgers or hot dogs. Breakfast was good with eggs, potatoes, and cantaloupe.
"Perfect Get Away"

A quaint and restful weekend while attending a wedding in the area. It was a perfect place to enjoy the fall foliage, quiet NH lake, take a hike, borrow a bike for a ride around the lake, a nice canoe ride- where have you stayed that offers such options? A perfect, healthy, delicious, unique breakfast each morning. Grace made the visit even more pleasant with her constant smile and morning greeting. Angel added a spectacular addition to the visit. The only, minor, issue was the noise during one night's stay. The Inn was hosting a family reunion and the guests were extremely noisy and the children were inconsiderate of other guests. Try and find out if children will be staying during your stay or you will have a less than pleasant rest.
"Perfect in every way"

The location on the side of a lake provided opportunity to sit and relax, enjoying the view or to walk or bike the lake's perimeter or to use one of their many water crafts. The room was well appointed and lovely, the breakfast was outstanding and the staff welcoming and friendly. We'll be back!
