Very nice B&B in beautiful area of NH would stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great B&B close to the lake."
Breakfast was good and everyone staying there seemed to really enjoy themselves. I was very envious of the rooms we saw in the second floor that had wifi, lake views, and comfortable blankets. Our bed was as hard as a rock, the blankets consisted of two firm coverlets, the pillows were hard and on the third floor we didn't have wifi in our rooms. I […] think had we had a more comfortable bed, my review would look like everyone else's. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Our family of four spent a week here and had a wonderful time. We stayed in the family suite which had two rooms (connected) with separate beds in the children's room. Plenty of complimentary bicycles to ride around the lake, canoes and kayaks available for paddling across the lake (which we enjoyed almost every day, a beautiful & peaceful lake) and great breakfasts, Denis is quite a chef. Other activities nearby include hiking, museums (including a nice farm museum you can ride bikes to only a mile away) and many restaurants to pick from for dinner. A real pleasant and peaceful get-away! We would highly recommend!
"Simple and Peaceful"

This is a very nice country inn, though if you're looking for upscale or fancy, you should keep on driving. This is a very old inn which just des to the charm and history of the area. The owner is nice, the inn very clean, breakfast is a cut above, the setting is peaceful and the chocolate chip cookies are excellent. There are nice bikes to ride, a great walking trail and a hammock or swing right by the lake where you can hang out and relax. There ares everlasting restaurant choices in New London which is less than ten minutes away. This is a nice place to stop off on your way through or to spend a few days to decompress.

Stayed at the inn for a wedding in the area. Our experience was less then pleasant. Only four rooms were air conditioned . My husband had to use his inhaler because of the mold and mildew in the reception rooms. There was a musty smell throughout . The room had only one outlet and that was in the bathroom. We have travelled extensively and have stayed in inns in Europe that are 200 years old and are in much better condition. This place is in desperate need of updating. I guess if your the only game in town you can get away with anything. Could not recommend this place.
"Pleasent and peaceful by the lake!"

We enjoyed staying at this Inn for 5 nights. The location is pleasant and peaceful surrounded by forest and a lake. A simple New England white clap board church next door remains you of simple country living. The Inn is chubby-chic, which makes you feel comfortable and homy. The Inn-keeper Danis is a very nice guy, and an excellent chef who together with Grace prepares delicious breakfasts. There is a constant enticing aroma coming from the kitchen. In the lake you can swim, kayak, and row or just bring a book and enjoy the hammock. The loop around the lake, 3 miles, is a pleasing walk. In addition, they provide you bikes to go around, and visit near by towns, like New London. And lastly a few words about beautiful Angel, an agile swimmer dog always waiting to be caressed.
"Great time at Follansbee!"

My kids (14/16) and I had a great, short stay at the Follansbee Inn. Denis and Grace were warm, attentive and professional, and we took full advantage of all the equipment (canoes, kayaks, bikes, etc) that Denis keeps on hand. Definitely would go back. Breakfast was delicious and well above the standard complimentary fare at most hotels.
"A step back in time!"

We loved the Follansbee Inn, and the serenity of the place! The innkeeper (Denis) gave us a warm welcome, and his breakfasts were awesome! We enjoyed our walks to the general store every afternoon for ice cream, and took advantage of the bikes, canoes and kayaks that the Inn provides free of charge for our use. The lake is beautiful, and we kayaked, swam and canoed each day. The Inn was very clean, quiet, and the beds were very comfortable!

We just got back from a three night stay at the inn. If you're looking for a tranquil place this is it. We were looking for a quick gateway, away from the city life and this place didn't disappoint. We had the Celia room and it was clean with a big bathroom. As many have noted, the breakfasts are delicious. The place is right next to a lake and we made good use of the kayaks and the row boat. We also went biking around the lake, a 3 mile ride. Overall, a wonderful time for a short stay. Will be back.
"A Jewel of a find."

booked a last minute trip via the net, not sure what I was expecting. When got there I was in for a treat. It was much nicer than expected. Felt like your own grand house on the lake, cared for by a great cook and housekeeper. Steps from its door it felt like your own private lake, private beach, shaded with pine trees & hemlocks. We would paddle at sunrise, sunset and moonlight. Pack a picnic, pick blueberries, jump out of our canoe, swim back to the inn. We were fed a delicious breakfast every morning. And when Dennis heard that I was vegetarian, he would prepare a special side dish for me every morning. He keeps the shed stocked with bikes, helmets, paddles and even with all the comings and goings from lake to the inn and a full house, it felt spacious and relaxing. The kids loved to get Ice Cream at the nearby country store and we enjoyed a glass of wine in the hammock watching the skies turn colors. A hike up to mount to Kearsarge and back to dipping in to the lake was the best thing. We took a drive to the bigger lakes in the area like Sunapee and were not impressed as felt like we had found a perfect spot on a much nicer lake- KEZAR. I am glad it is lesser known and the pace it keeps, you will be surprised is quite rejuvenating.

This inn is truly heaven. My daughter, 2 year old grandson and I were greeted by Angel, the friendly Australian Shepard, when we arrived. Every morning we joined others in the dining room for the most extraordinary breakfasts prepared by Denis our innkeeper. Our room was lovely and comfortable. Lakes, parks, a country store and villages nearby made our trip the perfect New Hampshire experience.
"83 years and keeps getting better"

The place to start is probably the excellent breakfast that you will get nowhere else. The Follansbee is a classic country inn. Clean, well-run, next to a beautiful small lake that is a joy to canoe or kayak. Watch the ducks dive, the great blue heron in the inlet or pick wild blueberries on the island, it is a great place to relax. It's close to a number of great restaurants and a respectable summer stock theater and other interesting sites. My mother first went there as a 12 year old in 1931 and the family has continued through the years. Dennis is a great host.
