Very nice B&B in beautiful area of NH would stay there again!

Breakfast was good and everyone staying there seemed to really enjoy themselves. I was very envious of the rooms we saw in the second floor that had wifi, lake views, and comfortable blankets. Our bed was as hard as a rock, the blankets consisted of two firm coverlets, the pillows were hard and on the third floor we didn't have wifi in our rooms. I think had we had a more comfortable bed, my review would look like everyone else's.

A lovely, quiet location across the street from Kezar Lake. Our room (Jean) was very comfortable with a very nice view of the lake. The two common sitting rooms were pleasant places to sit. There was a swing and rockers on the porch with beautiful plants all around. The swing, chairs and hammock beside the lake were a pleasant place to spend the afternoon. Bikes, kayaks, canoes and boats were available at no charge. We stayed two nights and the breakfast buffet each morning was delicious. Dennis, the owner and manager of the property, is also the cook. Grace was friendly and helpful at suggesting places to eat.
There are a handful of 'terrible' reviews... They are all from nearly 10 years ago! Denis has been at the inn for 3 years and the food is spectacular (I would go again just for the breakfasts) and the atmosphere is elegantly homey. We used the kayaks and bicycles, sat on the porch and chatted with other weekend guests, and watched the sun set over the lake swinging together in the hammock. My husband and I are eager to return to see the place in the winter, sit by the fire, and snowshoe. Well done, Denis!!! Welcome to New England!
Dennis & Angel gave us a magical time at the Inn. Our daughters ( 11&12) spent most of their time on or in the lake using the vast selection of kayaks, canoes and boats Dennis has, or laying in a hammock over looking the water. Our room was delightful ( family suite) and the breakfast was amazing.
What an unexpected surprise!!! We had a great stay at the Follansbee Inn. The Inn is absolutely charming, the beds, especially the king bed in our room, were extremely comfortable. The location was excellent, a short drive to many different sites worth visiting. However, if you are not into the sightseeing, the lake provided hours of relaxing time, especially with the kayaks that were provided. Another unexpected surprise was the fantastic breakfast each morning. Truley a wonderful stay.
The Follansbee Inn is the epitome of old time elegance, modestly but beautifully and historically furnished, with a picture perfect lakeside setting. Kezar Lake is peaceful and serene and the next door church and general store just enhance the step-back-to a gentler time ambiance.
We had a wonderful time at the inn, enjoying the lake, breakfast (especially outside), the nearby general store, and other area activities. We were sorry we had to leave early on Sunday...we ran out of time to do everything we would have liked to do. Our room (Bennett) was very nice, clean and comfortable. We also loved the common spaces, bikes, kayaks etc. Really a great place to stay!
Fuel up with Dennis's rich morning fare before a day full of hiking, cycling, kayaking, canoeing, and all other water sports on Kezar Lake or just laze and read basking in the peace the wooded lake offers. Nearby Vernondale Country Store grills great burgers with irresistible French fries and makes rich milkshakes in an old fashioned setting.
We came here for a night with 4, 16 year old boys and found a piece of heaven. The welcome was wonderful, the rooms charming ( our king bed was to die for) . The boys mucked around on the lake and we cycled around . In all a truly delightful stay.
A lovely peaceful inn with delightful living room. Fantastic breakfast, best French toast ever. Great bed. Wonderful
sitting area at lakeside. Owner kind and helpful. Free
canoe and bikes. Stay here, you won't regret it.

My husband and I stayed here for three nights in June. Denis has anticipated every interest. We did everything from going on the lake (he provides an array of canoes, kayaks, row boats and paddle boats), to walking the 3-mile road around the lake, to sitting inside playing games, to just sleeping in the hammock that is right next to the lake. Additionally, there are several bicycles for you to use though we did not use them ourselves.
You'll be glad that the activity causes you to work up an appetite because the breakfast is spectacular. Denis provides a breakfast that is nutritional (not hum-drum continental cereals and croissants--we're talking REAL food), beautifully displayed, and cooked to perfection. You get to eat in a lovely dining room with place settings, so you feel like you are being pampered every morning. While we were not traveling with small children, I did see other families that were quickly accommodated for with booster seats and child-friendly dishes and cereals. So, there is something for everyone once again.
Our room was very clean and had a large bathroom. There were plenty of places to sit and store your items, and we never felt cramped or uncomfortable. Denis does have free Wi-Fi that works well. There are no TVs as fitting for such a relaxing place.
The inn itself is a sight to behold as it dates back to the early 1800s. For history lovers, there is an adjacent old church and cemetery full of names that you recognize in the area (for instance, the Kezar family). We saw dates on headstones from the 1700s. You can really start to appreciate the area when you think of how many people have enjoyed the peaceful mountains and lake through the centuries.
There is plenty to do in nearby areas and several good eateries. Ask Denis to recommend a place. Craft brewing is huge in the area, so check out local breweries and purchase locally-made items. If you want to just lie low for the evening, there's a general store with a counter and stools that serves sandwiches, burgers, hotdogs, etc. We ate there twice and couldn't believe the cheap prices. You really get to talk to locals this way, too. The general store is across the road from the inn.
Enjoy your stay, and be sure to rub Angel's belly and watch her fetch her ball from the lake! She's the sweet dog-in-residence.
