Very nice B&B in beautiful area of NH would stay there again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great B&B close to the lake."
Breakfast was good and everyone staying there seemed to really enjoy themselves. I was very envious of the rooms we saw in the second floor that had wifi, lake views, and comfortable blankets. Our bed was as hard as a rock, the blankets consisted of two firm coverlets, the pillows were hard and on the third floor we didn't have wifi in our rooms. I […] think had we had a more comfortable bed, my review would look like everyone else's. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great time at Follansbee!"
08/18/14 Frank D Needham, Massachusetts
My kids (14/16) and I had a great, short stay at the Follansbee Inn. Denis and Grace were warm, attentive and professional, and we took full advantage of all the equipment (canoes, kayaks, bikes, etc) that Denis keeps on hand. Definitely would go back. Breakfast was delicious and well above the standard complimentary fare at most hotels.

We loved the Follansbee Inn, and the serenity of the place! The innkeeper (Denis) gave us a warm welcome, and his breakfasts were awesome! We enjoyed our walks to the general store every afternoon for ice cream, and took advantage of the bikes, canoes and kayaks that the Inn provides free of charge for our use. The lake is beautiful, and we kayaked, swam and canoed each day. The Inn was very clean, quiet, and the beds were very comfortable!

We just got back from a three night stay at the inn. If you're looking for a tranquil place this is it. We were looking for a quick gateway, away from the city life and this place didn't disappoint. We had the Celia room and it was clean with a big bathroom. As many have noted, the breakfasts are delicious. The place is right next to a lake and we made good use of the kayaks and the row boat. We also went biking around the lake, a 3 mile ride. Overall, a wonderful time for a short stay. Will be back.

booked a last minute trip via the net, not sure what I was expecting. When got there I was in for a treat. It was much nicer than expected. Felt like your own grand house on the lake, cared for by a great cook and housekeeper. Steps from its door it felt like your own private lake, private beach, shaded with pine trees & hemlocks. We would paddle at sunrise, sunset and moonlight. Pack a picnic, pick blueberries, jump out of our canoe, swim back to the inn. We were fed a delicious breakfast every morning. And when Dennis heard that I was vegetarian, he would prepare a special side dish for me every morning. He keeps the shed stocked with bikes, helmets, paddles and even with all the comings and goings from lake to the inn and a full house, it felt spacious and relaxing. The kids loved to get Ice Cream at the nearby country store and we enjoyed a glass of wine in the hammock watching the skies turn colors. A hike up to mount to Kearsarge and back to dipping in to the lake was the best thing. We took a drive to the bigger lakes in the area like Sunapee and were not impressed as felt like we had found a perfect spot on a much nicer lake- KEZAR. I am glad it is lesser known and the pace it keeps, you will be surprised is quite rejuvenating.

This inn is truly heaven. My daughter, 2 year old grandson and I were greeted by Angel, the friendly Australian Shepard, when we arrived. Every morning we joined others in the dining room for the most extraordinary breakfasts prepared by Denis our innkeeper. Our room was lovely and comfortable. Lakes, parks, a country store and villages nearby made our trip the perfect New Hampshire experience.
"83 years and keeps getting better"

The place to start is probably the excellent breakfast that you will get nowhere else. The Follansbee is a classic country inn. Clean, well-run, next to a beautiful small lake that is a joy to canoe or kayak. Watch the ducks dive, the great blue heron in the inlet or pick wild blueberries on the island, it is a great place to relax. It's close to a number of great restaurants and a respectable summer stock theater and other interesting sites. My mother first went there as a 12 year old in 1931 and the family has continued through the years. Dennis is a great host.

We decided to make a quick trip to New Hampshire for an anniversary get-away and found Follansbee Inn on the internet. The Inn is clean, peaceful and lovely. We hiked around the lake adjacent to the Inn but did not take advantage of the kayaks, canoes or bikes. Next time. Breakfast was excellent both mornings. We will definitely return.
"Simply the best B & B!"

This was our 8th stay at the Follansbee and, as always, it can only be described as brilliant! It has become our home in New Hampshire while our future home in New Hampshire is under construction. In fact, the Follansbee, pointed by Dennis' hospitality and culinary genious, was a large part of our inspiration to ultimatly settle in the lake region. Moreover, the entire staff at the Follansbee has masterd the art of providing first rate service, warm (even during the biggist snow storm in two years) welcome atmosphere and kind conversation. Based on our recommendation, a close friend and his family have stayed several times. They love it and his daughters love Dennis' special "Nutella" French toast. Breakfast at the Follansbee can only be described as the best period. How can you not love starting your day with a side of maple praline bacon!!! The Follansbee is simply the best B & B we have ever experienced. Stay, relax, enjoy - Cheers!
"** This Place is Magical **"

We have been coming to the Follansbee Inn for several years now and every visit has been wonderful. The Inn was recommend to us by a friend who had stayed their for almost a years time while his house was being built in a nearby town. The location of the Inn is sublime as it is perched on the shores of sleepy little Kezar lake in the town of North Sutton. The breakfasts are always top notch and the lake offers a variety of activities including canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, hiking or simply lounging in the water side hammock (my favorite). Renovations to Vernondale, an old country store located across the street from the Inn, have restored it to its original 1930s glory. Stepping through the front screen door you will find an old fashioned soda fountain, excellent local homemade ice cream and many original antique pieces throughout the store. The Inn itself has changed ownership in recent years and it is great to see that the new owner; Dennis has maintained the charms and character of this classic New England gem. This is the perfect place to escape from the over stimulation of todays hyper charged world. A few days here and you will feel good as new !! ***Also, Dennis is a superb cook as our breakfasts were out of this world !!
"So relaxing and enjoyable for a short stay"
07/20/14 Betty G New Haven, Indiana
We went spontaneously for three days to New Hampshire. It was myself, husband and 10 year old son. We enjoyed the 'suite' which is a lovely room with a queen bed, small hallway to a room with a single bed and bath. Everything was beautifully appointed but quaint, clean and fresh. The inn itself is immaculate and historical. It sits on a the beautiful Kazen lake. We were never so relaxed as we spent one full day, first, enjoying a scrumptious breakfast, and then swinging in the hammock, canoeing, kayaking, and bicycling, all provided for free by the inn. It sits next to a small beach, too, so it's easy to take a quick walk and go swimming. The surrounding towns provide fabulous restaurants. The day we spent at the inn, we just walked over to the country store across the street which had everything you could want and a great takeout menu. I would highly recommend. The only reason we didn't give it a fifth star is just me feeling it fell one star short of spectacular. But you will not be disappointed on any level. Also, we booked this trip through a Groupon-Style special. I'm not sure we would have booked it at the standard rates as it is a bit pricey for what we received.
