"weekend in Victoria - on the sea coast"
08/11/14 daniel s
We took the ferry from Vancouver and found the Birds of a Feather bed and breakfast in the suburbs of Victoria on a beautiful inlet on the sea coast (very near Hatley Park castle). The host is most gracious, informative and personable. The morning breakfast was most enjoyable and shared with 6-8 other guests. I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone traveling to Victoria or Vancouver Island.

The beds were wonderful, to be able to make an early morning coffee was a great perk. Dieter went above and beyond to give us a lift and make it "easy" for us to enjoy our evening libations without having to leave the B&B. At the end of the day, two very tired cyclists were very pleased with the accommodations! Of course the setting is perfect. L&J
"Awesome for a group of friends"

A group of nine of us were celebrating a 20 year anniversary of our group. Dieter's B&B provided the perfect opportunity for us to relax in between our outings. Our only hope was that we didn't disturb the other guests as our relaxation involved a lot of laughter (and wine, beer and mojitos). We had wonderful, filling breakfasts every day, that allowed us a late lunch with tapas on the deck in the evening. Dieter took us out on an all day tour in his zodiac and it was another day filled with laughter. A few of us took the time to go on early morning kayaks and watching the sunrise. Definite memories were made.
"Best experience of my life"

Staying at birds of a feather was the best expirence I lve had in my life. I am 18 years old from ontario and came out to Victoria to see all the mountains for the first time. With all the services Birds of a feather offered, such as bicycles and kayaks, it made my journey a pleasant and unforgettable experience. Not to mention the delicious breakfasts you have every morning with the other guests that come from all over the world. Its a real sense of family at Birds of a feather and id return in a heart beat! Absolutely loved it.

We stayed for a night as part of our hike across the peninsula with Trek & Treats. This is just simply a great place to stay. Bikes. Kayaks. Canoes. Helmets...life jackets...a castle to look at and an artist collective within walking distance. The room we stayed in was wonderful, great space, kitchenette, BBQ available, deck space that was wonderful and looked out over the lagoon. Dieter is laid back and welcoming and made us feel right at home. Also, great breakfast...blueberry/cream cheese stuffed french toast! The highlight? Paddling out to see the sunset at high tide on a beautiful night! Simply magnificent.
"Excellent Elopement Location"

As a second marriage for both of us - We wanted a "hassle" free experience just to get away and to show up without having to attend to all the tedious details. They certainly accommodated us and made our trip//wedding easy. They also provided the Justice of the Peace for the ceremony - Joan who was truly outstanding! Finally they kindly provided the witnesses - one of whom took pictures for us. It is truly a lovely bed and breakfast and my husband and I would recommend it, particularly to people wanting an elopement package. Thanks again Christina & Jeff.
"Of all the things to do in Victoria -"

one of our favorites was staying here after a day out and about and relaxing in the late afternoon or evening sitting on the deck watching the geese, swans, and other birds and the calm waters of Esquimalt Lagoon. Dieter is helpful and informative. The room was clean, comfortable and well equipped. It was a great way to end a week touring the Olympic Peninsula. This was our best B&B experience and we would happily stay here again. M&M San Francisco Bay Area

this passed June, I surprised my fiancé with a small wedding ceremony at the birds of a feather b and b. Yes, I surprised him! I live no where close to Victoria, or Vancouver Island, and the owner was away in Thailand at the time I emailed my inquiries. The next day, I received an email from the owner! Over the next few weeks we exchanged emails, he did his best to not only accommodate my fiancé, my 9 month old son, and the 20 or so people we would have present for the ceremony. He introduced me to our JOP (via email) provided info on rentals etc. The location is beautiful. Perfect for a small intimate wedding ceremony. Our wedding pictures turned out amazing - and Im sure I owe it to good weather, a great photographer, and a gorgeous landscape and setting. I stayed two nights in the honeymoon suite - and cannot say enough about it. I loved the private balcony for early mornings and late nights, and the shared balcony was a nice way to get to know other guests. We were able to canoe to the fish ladder with friends of ours who stayed in the family room for one night. Life jackets were provided for every one of us, including my infant son. My only complaint was that I did not bring my camera battery charger. Both mornings our breakfast experience was spectacular. The food, the company, and the stories exchanged made for an enjoyable morning. Dieter (or Dietre?) was a wonderful host - and I look forward to staying at the Birds of a Feather again. I cannot say enough about the great experience we and everyone at our ceremony had.
"Relaxing, beautiful and fun!"

Our stay at Birds of a Feather was so memorable. It starts out with great conversation at breakfast among the guest to exploring the many different adventures that Dieter or Nicole talk about or even take the guest on. The day of whale watching with Dieter as our guide took us around the San Juan Islands and even a stop at an island to eat a late lunch. Just beautiful. The setting is so peaceful and we even enjoyed a canoe trip to Hatley Castle across the lagoon. Never once turned on the TV as we so enjoyed the peace and quiet of our surroundings. Thank you so much for being a part of our vacation this year!
"Wonder "nest" to base one's Victoria trip"

Our family of four really enjoyed our two night stay at BOAF B&B. Very relaxing. Use as you home base for your trips into Victoria and around Vancouver Island. Dieter was a fine host - very helpful with planning tips ahead of time and then cooking up some tasty breakfasts. Location is about a 25 minute drive outside of Victoria, so you'll benefit from a rental car. Room was clean, spacious, great views over the estuary. We enjoyed spending time on the dock feeding the ducks/swans, as well as taking a canoe out for a paddle around the estuary and over to Hartley Castle.
