"A nice play to stay"
My overnight stay went smoothly. The service was good and the room very clean. I arrived at 4:00 p.m. but did have to wait until 8:30 p.m. for the restaurant to open. There is nothing else around the area to get something to eat. My wakeup call at 4:00 a.m. was prompt, as was my ride to the airport. All in all, a pleasant experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great Airport Hotel"
Great stay, close to airport. Good shuttle service. Make sure you stay at the right Tryp because there are two in the area.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We decided to stay at this hotel because we had an early flight out of Madrid and did not want to get caught in traffic. We were disappointed by the quality of the neighborhood (think end of world, dystopic, zombie movie), the confusion at the desk (it is true there was a medical convention nearby and a whole lot of people were stranded at the hotel […] due to another Air France (Air Chance) strike. But we could not find anyone to even answer a question. The beds were tiny and the mattresses dorm room quality. The suites, however, were clean and new. All in all, it was a mixed experience. "nice hotel close to the airport"
This hotel is a nice, new clean hotel close to the airport. They had a shuttle available to the airport, but we had not been given information about this possibility. So, we could only use the shuttle back to the airport only. Also, the café for breakfast was not open until 8am, which is inconvenient for early morning travelers. Other than that, it […] is a nice hotel. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"TOTALLY INCOMPETENT STAFF/REMOTE LOCATION"
When my wife and I arrived in the late afternoon on June 25th, 2014, it took us one hour and fifteen minutes to check in; the desk staff didn't seem to know what they were doing and keep disappearing into a back room adjacent to the reception desk. The check-in line stretched out for at least 25 persons. The dinner later that evening was really disorganized […] and I had to tell them I wasn't with a tour and therefore needed to pay for our evening meal. The hotel store was hidden in the back and was stripped of virtually all items. This place is definitely an unpleasant experience and to make things worse, it is located in the middle of nowhere and there is nothing around. This kind of outrageous service coupled with the remoteness of the site (getting a taxi was nightmarish!) make me give this lamentable operation a -2 on the rating scale. Caveat emptor!! The hotel itself was great, but I was dissapointed with their "nomimal" shuttle fee. I ended up catching a cab which was cheaper then the shuttle service. They where charging 14 euro per person, for two of us, that would be close to the rate of our one night. I found that ridicoulous. This was made even worse by the fact that it was close to midnight […] and my child was sleeping and I was carrying her. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Other than our "free" shuttle from the airport not picking us up until we called the hotel to remind them and then being told it would cost us 15 euros, it was great. "The Tryp was worth it!"
Lovely apartment style suite but no lights in the bedroom. Two lamps were available but both had damaged plugs. Bathroom light fixture flickered all night long even though switch was off. Breakfast buffet in the restaurant was very good. A lot of construction debris in the area; the hotel did not seem to be "finished". Staff extremely helpful and friendly. […] We chose this hotel due to its proximity to airport, not because we had a flight but so that we could leave our car in airport parking lot and take the Metro in to City Centre. "You have to pay airport shuttle"
My friend and I got this room because we had to stay 1 night in Madrid doing transit, we found a good offer and we booked it. When we went to the hotel shuttles parking we saw a Tryp bus and the driver said we had to call that hotel directly and ask them to send us a pick up van, we had to walk all the way back, full of baggages, and find a working […] pay phone. The guy that answered us said he would send the van 1 hour after our call and it was going to cost us 12 euros. We had to wait 1 hour and pay the shuttle. "What a bad experience."

We knew we were in trouble when the cabbie at the Madrid Train Station had to ask how to find this hotel. We were convinced we were in trouble when, after a 28 euro fare, the driver emerged from our car at the hotel, looked around at the surrounding area, and then looked hopelessly at me as if to say "it is not my fault." We were in the middle of nowhere with the surrounding area covered with weeds or 3 story structures of concrete skeletons. I took us 20 minutes to register at the front desk. There was another couple behind us but, despite to other desk personnel on duty, the were not seen until we had finished registering. Even at that speed, they registered us in error and had to refund the duplicate amount they charged us but only after I complained. The room was clean, but as a suite with a kitchen, it had absolutely nothing in the cupboards or drawers if one wanted to take advantage of preparing something. The beds felt like the old spring mattress type where you could feel everything under you. The best thing about the room was the the bathroom, which was very nice, and the water pressure in the shower which was the best we experienced in our month of travels in Spain. The hotel has a restaurant and a small grocery store which is a must since the location of the hotel demands it be self sufficient. The grocery store was about 25% stocked with inventory of very expensive convenience foods and wine. The restaurant opened at 8pm, the norm for locations in a more suburban setting. The restaurant menu was limited and the fact that 3 of the 12 options consisted of pizza wasn't that bad if they had in fact had the items in the kitchen. The menu was now reduced to 9 items. We chose to share a noodle dish which was unremarkable. Check out the next morning and another 23 euro cab ride to the airport. For around 50 euros in cab fare, one would think it might have been wiser to stay in Madrid central. Overall, no one should stay at this hotel unless the only choice is a tent in a public park. The TRYP Madrid Airport Suites has great potential - it's close to the airport being one of the obvious. Despite an incredibly ugly and barren exterior whose concrete is unwelcoming and makes you shudder, on the inside the rooms are clean, pleasant, and roomy. My room had a bedroom, comfortable living room, eating area, and kitchen, with a decor that reminded me of Ikea - I mean that in a good way, not bad. In the courtyard is a pool (that I didn't try), and an informal eatery that had surprisingly good food. That's the good. The bad is truly a problem. First, the hotel is incredibly understaffed. There are too few employees to manage the front desk and to check people in. Lines build up, and people get anxious and annoyed. Second, you cannot rely on a Taxi to just show up. You absolutely must call ahead. The combination of these two issues -- waiting to check out and waiting for a cab -- caused me to miss my flight back home, a memory of which will linger for a long long time. The front-desk staff is polite enough, but their English - though passable - cannot be mistaken for fluent. The real issue, though, is that the entire lobby operation needs to be expanded. Secondly, although the hotel is near the airport, it will still cost you about 20 Euro to get to it by cab, as well as 25 Euro to get downtown. It costs 20-25 Euro to get to the convention center. SInce the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, consider these additional costs when calculating the expenses that will be built into your trip. Even the cost of the room -- about 180 Euro -- is more than it is worth. Finally, the lobby of the hotel is very sparse on amenities -- need some cash? You won't find an ATM in the lobby, or even particularly nearby. Want a restaurant or shop? Go elsewhere - the neighborhood is barren. Although my stay was not unpleasant, this hotel just doesn't measure up (and the delays at the hotel causing me to miss my flight are inexcusable). It needs much work to really pull itself up in regards to serving travelers -- regular cab service, lobby services, a shuttle to and from the airport and downtown (you can reserve these ahead of time with a fee, but they need a continuously operating free shuttle, really), and the usual amenities for a business traveler. Wifi is free, but so slow that you'd think you were on dial-up. It was totally useless. My advice: go elsewhere. Really.

I had to do a last minute booking and my favorite hotel was booked out , my next option was a hotel just next door , but I remembered to see the advertisement with a competitive price of the Tryp Aeropuerto Suites on the hotel’s facade when driving by and decide to check out the website knowing the hotel has just opened some months ago . On the website I found some very promising pictures and a bargain price for a “junior suite” with all necessary comforts . When I arrived at the hotel I was positively impressed but the modern lobby , but that’s about it , as soon as I got out the elevator on the first floor I discovered the hotel was opened months ago , but probably planned (and designed) in the nineties . Already in the corridor you could see that the constructor has tried to save as much money as possible by using the cheapest possible materials (the carpet on the floor is so thin it reminds me to a cheap fair booth where everything is supposed to last only for a few days …) . Upon entering the room I was absolutely shocked , I was expecting a nice “ suite” with some modern furniture and a pleasant ambiance (which you can usually find in all Tryp hotels , both old and new ones) . All the furniture is really cheap (both the quality and the outlooking) , the decoration is ridiculous and has a really bad taste , once you get in you have a rather small bathroom on one side , a very large living room with a kitchen on the opposite side , and a rather small bedroom on your front . At first when I got into the room I turned the main light in the corridor on , then tried to turn the lights in the living room and in the bedroom on for several minutes , only to notice that half of the switches are just fake !!! Infact there is no main light on the ceiling in the living room or in the bedroom , there is one standing lamp in the leaving room and a the reading lamp besides the bed in the bedroom . But there are plenty of “fake” switches around . About the bedroom , there where 2 single beds , again the quality was more than simple , basically it was just the frame and mattress . At the time of check in the clerk tried to sell an "upgrade" for a double bed very hardly , the costs would only be 15 Euros more for a "Premium double bed" , but being alone and staying for a few hours of rest only I declined the offer . Checking out the room more carefully I (unfortunately) also noticed that the cleaning of the room was not done properly , I found several hairs around , pubic hair on the toilet seat , spots on the floor and on the carpet besides the bed , so I didn't really have a positive feeling either . The toilet is quite cramped and with very basic amenity kit , but at least everything worked . Probably the very best thing in this hotel is the swimming pool located in the central courtyard , I just saw it and it looked inviting , unfortunately I had no time to use it even if I really wanted (with 36 degrees celsius ...) . The hotels offers also a shuttle service , but unlike all others hotels in that area offering it as a complimentary service , they pretend to have 6 Euro and have a fixed schedule . Please also take in account that the hotel is in a small industrial area along the motorway and , besides a couple of other hotels (with regular shuttle service to the airport) there is absolutely nothing around , in my case it was not a problem as I had rented a car . Overall this hotel offers a good price , and promises a lot , but it has been a really big disappointment for me !
"Way overpriced Motel 6 quality"
09/27/14 7continents2010 San Francisco, California
I would not put recommend anyone stay at the Tryp Hotel unless nothing else is available. The reception area was chaotic when I arrived and the front desk was not coping well, not the friendly reception I got everywhere else I stayed in Spain. My room is almost a joke in how poorly set up it is. While it's clean and looks very new, it is very oddly and uncomfortably equipped. The only light in the bedroom is a very weak, cheap desk lamp between a pair of very short and small twin beds - my feet hang over the edge and I'm only 5'8", a 6 footer would not fit at all. The bedding is about what I'd expect from Motel 6 - mattress, pillow, and linens are all poor quality and uncomfortable. No duvet or blanket, just a coarse bed spread folded and tucked in such a way it only covers the bottom half of the bed and there is no easy way to pull it up without pulling the bed apart. The only light in the living room is one cheap, weak floor lamp. There is no place with enough light to read in either room. I had to use the flashlight mode on my iPhone to try to figure out the incomprehensible air conditioning controls which had been set to keep the room at 32 Celsius - sauna temperature. In contrast, the hall and bathroom are well lit, so maybe I'll take my book to the bathroom and read on the bidet. The way the bedroom was set up, it was impossible to open the closet doors because one of the beds was too close and blocked the doors - I was able to shove the bed over enough to open the doors. There is another closet in the hall although it has no hangers. There is no luggage rack, so the coffee table will have to do. The safe may hold a small wallet or passport, but isn't big enough even for my iPad Air. I can't use it in any case, because it was left locked. Sound is a problem - you can hear every door open and shut down the hall when other guests come and go. There is a good sized kitchenette with a stove and oven, but not so much as a dish or a spoon or a pot in any of the cabinets, so it's unusable. There is no coffee maker, no microwave, so no way to prepare anything simple. There is also no minibar. There is no hotel information at all in the room about anything so I will have to call down to the unfriendly front desk if I want to find out if there's anything to eat anywhere in the hotel tonight. They did tell me when I checked in that I could pay for breakfast in the morning - 7.50 Euros. The airport shuttle only runs once an hour on the hour and costs 6 Euros reserved and paid in advance when I checked in. I have to be at the airport at 11:00, so I'll have to take the 10:00 shuttle to get there in time and wait at the airport almost an extra hour. This hotel should not have cost over 100 Euros for the Motel 6 quality of the room, but it cost more than twice that and they charge extra for everything except wifi and cable TV. They even required that I pay in full when I checked in, just like Motel 6. In short, I'm glad I'm only here for one night.

I was put here for a night due to a flight cancellation. After having stayed in upscale hotels around Spain for a week, it was a shock to pull up to this building. It is incredibly old and ugly, with NOTHING around it but other industrial buildings, concrete and trash dumps. It's a depressing sight. The hotel has mini-apartments which were exceptionally clean. The beds were uncomfortable but I had a hot shower and plenty of towels and they gave us free Wi-Fi. There is a restaurant but it's closed between 4 and 8. They fed us a free dinner. Nothing fancy, didn't taste great but as there were NO other options anywhere nearby, it was all we had. They did put out coffee the next day and give us more food, but the espresso maker stopped working so not everyone got coffee. The staff was very friendly and hardworking but there were only 2 people to check us in. It took forever. So after sitting on the runway for 2 hours and spending most of the morning there for a "delayed" flight that never took off, we now spent hours in line to check in. There must have been 240 of us for this trip. I was happy to not have to sleep at the airport. But I also wished I had been a first class passenger and been in a more "real" hotel with more options. I have yet to understand why airlines put us away from everything. Another night in Madrid? Sure! More American money for me to spend! But no...............send us to a non-hotel for the evening where we can't do anything.
"Terrible Nights Stay"

We were put into this hotel as the result of a flight cancellation. We showed up on a bus with about 100 - 150 people all at one time. The staff knew we were coming and had at first only one person to check us all in. We finally got some help with a 2nd person checking people in who did not seem to know what he was doing. It took Hours! Poorly managed hotel! They were not prepared for our arrival. They kept all our passports and it took us hours go get them returned. After multiple request from most of the guests we finally had to get up at 1:30AM and go down to the desk to retrieve our passports. This was not good as we had to be in the lobby at 5:00AM for our departure to the airport, so not much sleep that night. Terrible experience. Find another hotel, there are many to choose from. We had stayed the night before at the Tryp Alameda Hotel, it was wonderful, great room, great meals!

The place is OK. The rooms have no cups nor silverware. There is absolutely nothing! around the hotel. Therefore if you are hungry get ready to hit the restaurant before 4:30 PM when it closes. Also, be able to handle the loud and nasty music bar type at the restaurant. The front desk was helpful but that's it.

I have stayed her for 3 days, waiting for a connecting flight. The staff is very proffesional and helpful, and spoke good english. The appartments are very nice, clean and cosy with nice furniture. The hotel is also very nice on the inside with lots of lounge areas in cool designs. I like the restaurant, cool decor, fair prices, nice staff and good food. However my 3 days stay seemed really long. I really miss an outdoor area where I could relax in the sun in the daytime. The outdoor surroundings are to much concrete! There is no place to sit oursite during the day. And that was very frustrating for me :-( There is a very nice pool and pool area, but it is closed all day and do first open up at 17.00. I found that very strange?! Even in the pool area, I missed some garden furniture, the 2 existing sun beds are not enough. Overall an ok place to stay if its for one day. Advice to tho hotel is - come on! Invest in some garden furnitures and put it out on the terraces, and more green to cover up the concrete. Could make a big difference!

I have stayed in other facilities of this type, category and price range before, but never encountered such poor understanding of the business they're in, nor the clientele they cater to. I have chosen this facility because of the proximity to the airport, meaning international and transiting guests. I am here on business until the June 27 in the area. First, they advertise multilingual personel, not true! The clerck, not very friendly, speaks Spanish only and had to request the assistance of the maintenance person to translate. Check-in took about one hour, and fortunately I was the only one there! The apartments come bare, except for bed and bath linens, no closet hangers in the closets, no iron/ironing board and no coffee machine, in spite of what is advertised, not even a toilet bowl brush... and no waste baskets anywhere! The 20€ "kitchen utensils" package will give you some kitchen utensils, an espresso coffee maker, iron/ironing board, clothes hangers, mop, broom and pail. Then you find out that housekeeping is done only once every 2 weeks! Thre is no information in the suite on the services and location of available within the facility, no indication of where to dispose of waste. I only found out by accident. Nearby there was some kind of indication in spanish, and fortunately the bins are coloured, otherwise, if you don't speak spanish or understand half of it like I do, thanks to my speaking Italian, I would not have known what to put where, since waste must be separated between recyclable, non recyclable and organic waste, something nobody tells you about, and the bins wew full of all sorts of waste, their problem, since the info is not clear! None of my concerns have been taken into account, I have emailed customer service of the windham chain, no response. The only response was from booking.com, who forwarded my complaint to the facility. Booking.com has no responsability in this matter, and the have been very helpful. The ratings from gueets, on the other hand, raise some questions... where the heck have they stayed before? If there was a possibility to give negative rating, this would definitely be minus 10 on a scale from 1 to 5! Stay away is all I can say, there are plenty of locations in center Madrid that seem to know what this business is all about, and if you are just a tourist, that is all you need, dowtown Madrid, discover it within walking distance and take a cab to the airport to return.
