I had a very nice stay at this hotel. The room was cozy and very warm. The hotel staff was very pleasant and very helpful to our needs. The hotel had a fish smell in the lower part as it was above a fish market but the rooms did not smell that way. The breakfast buffet was a nice touch as well as the 24 hour coffee in the lobby. The wifi was slow and […] did not work at times. It's a non smoking hotel, so if you smoke outside expect to be heckled by homeless persons outside asking for cigarettes. "quick trip to Chinatown"
Fairly priced, right in Chinatown, front desk service was good. Parking sucks, but its NYC.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"nice but wont stay again"
Hotel was comfortable and clean. There is a bit of a order in the air in the hotel so we had to buy spray for our room. Other than that all was good. We were a little late checking out about 25mins late and a house keeper came in yelling a my fiance about check out and was very rude and inconsiderate so that would be the reason I don't think I'd return […] back. "Great but parking addittional fee"
Everything was great during our stay my only complaint is that parking was not included. When I called to ask if the hotel had parking I was told that it was two blocks down. It would have been nice if the front desk staff would have informed me then of the $30 per 24 hour parking fee that you are charged and is not reimbursed by the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best deal in NYC. Highly recommend!!"
I love this hotel and hope they have rooms available when I get back to NYC. State of the art fitness room, top of the line comfort bed, excellent customer service (actually the best I have ever had at a hotel and I have stayed at 5 stars, etc.), delicious full service breakfast, free and lightening fast business center, everything a customer can want […] in a small convenience store in the hotel (wine, beer, snack food, toiletries, etc.). I really could not have been more pleased. Yes there is one drawback, the hotel does smell a little fishy in the lobby at times early in the morning, but not on the floors and not in your room. I even had a beautiful view of the bridge in my hotel room. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone heading to NYC. Oh and as a female, I felt safe walking by myself everywhere. I even walked from the stop to my hotel at night and wasn't nervous. The bus stop is about a 10min walk and 20min train ride to Rockefeller. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Our Christmas getaway was great. The location was great. Close walking distance to seaport, Stanton Island Ferry and Freedom Tower. The best part was it wasn't in a crowded area. It's right near Chinatown and Little Italy. You cant beat a free breakfast either. Would definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel was wonderful! The room was perfect for a night stay, but we would have stayed longer. It was clean, comfortable and had a beautiful view of the bridge. It's also close (one block away) from the metro and convenient to go anywhere!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"NYC for Thanksgiving"
Great hotel! Staff was especially great. Hotel is sort of in Chinatown which we thought was great. The hotel is over/next to a market the sells fresh fish so the elevators smell like fish but the rooms did not. Free breakfast in the morning was great tooGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Had a great stay!"
We only stayed for one night, but our stay was very pleasant. The room was comfortable and clean and the staff was friendly and accommodating. The complimentary breakfast was very nice. The hotel was only a short walk to the J train station. The only drawback was the neighborhood, but we mainly used the hotel as a place to sleep since we were out and […] about most of the day, so it was not a big deal. Very nice for the price. Nicely close to a metro station. Walked to Katz's bakery, through little Italy and China town, then circled back to the hotel easily. Pleasantly surprised. Will definitely be returning.Genuine Expedia guest review
The front desk was excellent, no matter who was on the desk. On arrival Samantha was extremely helpful and pleasant. There after for my 3 days all of the staff were the same.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good location and price"
Location was convient to subway, walking to Little Italy, Brooklyn Bridge, and other points of interest. Rooms were clean, spacious, and surprising quiet considering the Manhattan Bridge ran along side the hotel. "Clean and professional hotel in Chinatown"
My 7 girlfriends and I were recently in NYC for a bachelorette party. We chose this hotel due to better price over Times Square area and it was close to our friends in Chinatown. We were pleasantly surprised by the new and clean facilities. The rooms were pretty spacious for NY and the staff was accommodating. Several of us took the yoBus which drops […] you off literally across the street, saving tons of time and money on cabs and subways. We would definitely recommend this hotel! Not clean and no good around hotel since hotel is in China Town but a lot of something to see around China Town if you want to see China Town. About 15mins to subway Grand st. Breakfast was so so.everything in the room are very clean since the hotel seem to be built recently or remodeled.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My family recently booked this hotel for our end of the summer mini vacay and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We arrived well before normal check-in time and we were checked in right away! On our way out for the day we ran into one of the hotels managers whom we voiced our concerns to about the size of the king room -that we thought was to be the king […] with the sofa bed, but resolved to make do with. Much to our surprise, when we returned that evening she moved us to the room with the sofa bed and a wonderful view of the Manhattan Bridge! The entire staff was great! And they conveniently checked our bags after check-out to enjoy our last day of shopping in the city! Everything was clean and the breakfast was phenomenal! This hotel is definitely worth the money! Easy to reach by subway from JFK. We stayed for five days and mostly walked to the places we wanted to see. Even at night we always felt safe. Room clean and up to date. Maybe a little on the small side. Continental breakfast was a bit better than average.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
My only comment for the week was the lack of towel racks is opposed to your request to conservation of linens. We had ours changed every day only because they would not dry on the back of door hook. If you add at least one rack it would have made a huge difference in our linen reuse. The staff was very friendly during our stay. Asking for a quiet room […] was great as we did not hear the train. "Great place to stay, iffy location"
The hotel itself was wonderful!! The staff was helpful, friendly, and offered good advice when asked. They always greeted us with a smile when we came in from a long day of exploring. The room was small but nicely furnished and comfortable. Breakfast was very crowded and there was a wait for food to be refilled, but it was fine. The neighborhood is […] firmly in Chinatown, which was definitely a different experience for us, but I didn't feel unsafe walking around. The subway station nearest to us was closed for maintenance, which did cause some anxiety for us. Note: the subway can get EXPENSIVE for a family traveling. Be sure to include the cost of mass transit when deciding if you should stay further out when vacationing. All in all, I was very pleased with this hotel, the staff, service, and room, and I'd stay there again if visiting the area. Note: I stayed with my family of 7, in two rooms. "New but small rooms"
Overall stay was very good. Almost brand new hotel so very clean and well maintained. About the only negative is its location in Chinatown which isn't all that convenient to many NYC attractions although at least there is a subway stop within reasonable walking distance.Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is clean & comfort. The only drawback is the location. It located in the old China town, the neighborhood is kind of dirty and far away from midtown.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Service was excellent"
We thought the hotel was really clean and nicely decorated. It is in Chinatown, so yes outside smells like fish. However it is Chinatown and open markets are part of the charm. Inside did not smell at all, as many of the other reviews had said. Prosperity Dumplings is very close and they are the best dumplings we have ever had, and they are open pretty […] late. It's also really close to Little Italy. The best part was the service, they were friendly and they went out of their way to help with whatever was needed. We stayed 4 nights. "Sleeping on the NY Subway"
The hotel is too noisy just do to the very close location to above ground segment of the NYC subway system (bridge from Brooklyn to Manhattan). They have ear plugs on the bed pillow for a reason. There is more sound management that needs to be done in this neighbor before trying to sell these rooms as Marriott. It really does a disservice to name of […] Marriott to see rooms under this name. The high noise level every 2 minutes needs to more more fully disclosed. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Fairfield Inn & Suites New York Manhattan/Downtown East Hello Michael, Thank you for taking the time out to review our hotel property. We apologize that your stay fell short of your expectationns. The view of the Manhattan bridge is a beauty however the subway line that runs underneath it carries a subtle rumbling. If there is anything we can do to make it up please let us know. You can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Alternatively We have rooms facing away from the bridge . We would be happy to assign a room facing Pike st that's more suitable.Thank you -Harold G
"Very nice Hotel close to Manhattan Bridge"
Hotel was very nice, clean and a good breakfast. Beds were comfortable. Wish we would have spoke to staff about subway locations. Travel several blocks to locate subway and one was a couple of blocks away... Very nice stay highly recommendGenuine Expedia guest review
The hotel is new so it is very clean. There is a slight funky smell in the elevator but it is not oppressive and it comes from the chinese grocery store nearby. We had a room with 2 queen beds and the room size was pretty decent, given it is NYC, and the bathroom was quite big too. The breakfast was great - it's a miracle to get a hot breakfast at American […] hotels so we were quite happy with it. It runs like a decent 4 star hotel that we've used in our travels all over the world. The location is great - lots of subway stops nearby. I highly recommend this hotel. "New hotel in Lower East Manhattan"
We stayed in a room with 2 queen size bed in the first few days. The room was clean, and everything was in order. The hotel uses Paul Mitchell shampoo and hair conditioner. However, they only supplied 1 set for each room. My wife needed to ask for additional ones. Then, we moved to another room with king size bed. That room was horrible. I think all […] the rooms with king size beds are facing the Manhattan Bridge. I could hear the sound from the subway all night. It was so noisy that I need to use the ear plug. Also, I can feel the vibration when the train passed each time. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The room is a bit noisy due to Manahatten Bridge near by. The stuff is very polite but could not help anything not connected directly to the stay (info about NYC, problems with WiFi). Otherwise everything is realy nuce and cleanGenuine Expedia guest review
I spent three nights at this hotel, which was convenient and within walking distance to the subway and Chinatown and in a location that is not too busy during the day (by New York City standards). I had read reviews about this place concerning the smell from a supermarket and noise from the subway train on the Manhattan Bridge--the latter was taken […] care of by asking for a room on the side facing away from the bridge. Breakfast was more than expected--I figured only a basic continental breakfast would be it, but it actually came with eggs, sausage, and ham along with an assortment of cereals, oatmeal, yoghurt, bagels, breads, and waffles. The Chinese supermarket underneath the hotel also provided a good opportunity to buy ethnic foods, although some of the supermarket's fish smell made its way into the hotel elevators. Another reason I picked this hotel specifically was because it's only a couple years old, and I could tell that everything (lobby, breakfast area, elevators, rooms) were practically brand new. A relative that lives locally in NYC did mention that the neighbourhood has some Chinese gang activity, and at night, the streets look deserted with few pedestrians, so beware of your surroundings after dark if going to or from the hotel. "The Fairfield Inn & Suites Marriott New York"
The Fairfield Inn & Suites Marriott in New York located in Chinatown is a great location for walking and for catching the Metro lines. The hotel was clean and the staff was excellent in trying to accommodate our needs. However, we were led to believe through booking with Expedia that the room would accommodate three adults as stated on our confirmation […] receipt. Unfortunately, upon arrival, the hotel staff informed us that there was not a roll away cot or a couch in the room which meant our son had to sleep on the floor for five nights with pillows and blankets. "NYC, Rock Hall Show"
The hotel was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The staff was helpful and went out of their way in assisting us (upgrading our room, suggesting nearby delis & bars, ordering us our airport shuttle, bringing us additional towels with short notice). There IS a fish smell outside of the hotel (after all, it's in the heart of China Town and surrrounded […] by restaurants and food markets) but the smell was nonexistant in our room. The hotel is right next to the Manhattan Bridge so we brought ear plugs to counter the noise from the train but after walking 6-8 miles a day, the noise didn't bother us. Over all, I'd stay there again Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Excellent location and very clean"
The hotel is located in the Chinatown, not a clean location but very close to Brooklyn bridge and WTO. The hotel is very clean and breakfast was wonderful. The staff were very friendly. The reason I gave 4 for overall rating is because of small room size, which is perhaps a problem of most of the Manhattan hotels. Parking was couple of blocks away, […] so every time we had to walk (it was raining when we stayed, otherwise it would have been a tiny issue). Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
