We had a great stay at Graphy Nezu. It is located in a very nice neighborhood. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was a little small but standard for Tokyo. The lack of elevator was not an issue for us. The only thing we would like to see change is to have more diversity for breakfast other than that we had a great experience. Will stay there again.

Not an hotel, this is an hostel. I paid $ 130 U.S.for a basic room with shared bath. Check out 10am, at 10:01am somebody knock door to say we must leave. MAP on hotels.com is wrong, tooks us 1 hour to get there. Please never book this hostel, in tokyo there are much better alternatives for the price

I had a wonderful experience staying at this hotel. The location is close to several key hubs into various sightseeing locations in Tokyo. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and affordable. Hotel Graphy also contains long term residents. The kitchen, lounge, and bar were a great place to make friends with locals, staff, and other guests. The members of the staff have excellent English language skills as well. I would highly recommend this hotel to any traveler who wishes to stay in Tokyo. The only downside is that the nearest station is 10-15 minutes away on foot, but you get to see some of Ueno Park's beautiful scenery on the way.

All of the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. They spoke superb English, for times when my Japanese language skills were a little rusty. The room was large for Tokyo, and the beds were comfy. The bathroom was small, but good enough for my needs. I especially enjoyed having a community kitchen available where I could cook meals. A rare find. It saved money from having to eat at restaurants every day. The neighborhood is quiet. Walking to Ueno Station every day through Ueno Park was relaxing and gave me a nice fresh start to the morning.

Hotel is nice and rooms are clean. It takes 10 minutes by walking to the nearest metro station (chiyoda line/nezu station). There is no elevator in the hotel but no problem about that. There is a small Restaurant in the hotel which is nice. Hotel staff is perfect.

Hotel is pretty. Room is clean and comfortable although it was bit small just like any Japanese hotel. Kitchen was clean and very well organized, it has all things you need to cook by yourself. Washroom requires a bit detailed cleaning. Also wifi at my room wasn't usable. I needed to go out and be closer to wifi modem or going down to the lounge.

The facility itself was very clean and stylish. However, there is no elevator for those who need to carry heavy luggage. I stayed there for seven nights, but once the room was not cleaned (it is a hotel and each room is promised to be cleaned everyday unless you hang a do-not-disturb sign during their cleaning hours). On my sixth night, my used towels were removed from the room but not replaced with new one. So I needed to take shower without any towel. I realized it late at night when nobody was at the check-in counter at the entrance. I didn't bother to complain because there is no number to which guests can call when no staff is available and there is no room phone (though the facility claims itself a hotel). Plus the package delivered to me a day before my arrival was not received by the hotel staff and returned it to the delivery company. I called the hotel what is going on, and their response was that they couldn't find my name as a guest since I booked the hotel through Hotels.com from overseas. Ridiculous! All these details accumulated, and out of frustration I didn't stay another extra night although this necessity arose toward the end of my stay. It's a pity since the facility is pretty good, and the café/bar on the ground floor is a pleasant place with nice wait staff members.

This is what I might consider a luxury Hostel. Extremely clean, great staff, great location and really great value. The only thing I didn't like was walking to a different floor to shower--but for the price in Tokyo and the comfort of staying in this clean hotel, it was a minor inconvenience.

This place is set up for short or longer term stays. Desk staff from 3pm to 9pm only. English speaking when we checked in. Common space for kitchen and dining, common lounge area, baths, relaxation space. It is located in a nice quiet neighborhood. Walking distance to Ueno park/station and Nezu subway (in the other direction). We stayed in a deluxe corner room with private bath and found it quite spacious. Wi-fi patchy in the room but great in the lounge. Japanese style no shoes set up (a shoe locker is provided at the door. I'd stay again for sure.

Very nice location. The hotel lobby has free lounge and an excellent shared kitchen and dining area. Plenty of laundry rooms. Nice breakfast at the hotels' cafe. Unfortunately, a fourth floor room with no elevator (not working) is quite bad. The bed is quite uncomfortable (like most cheap hotels). The room is small, but not too small.

When we arrived we were greeted by smiles, the staff helped carry all our bags up to our room (and they were heavy bags!!), Cafe downstairs was deeelicious! Spent many nights playing jenga and many breakfasts enjoying sandwiches and coffee. Really great atmosphere in a down to earth hotel, super clean and super modern. They carry all the great books and maps of Tokyo and Timeout in the cafe and were so helpful! Will definitely be visiting again! Great location too, so close to the zoo and ueno restaurants. Situated in a quiet street, there wasn't any noises or disturbances during our stay- so relaxing! There isn't a lift, but as written in the hotel, "Take the stairs for your health", and it is so true and I was so glad to be forced to act on my health and not be lazy taking the lift like i usually would. Laundry was great also! And the no shoes policy really made me feel like the rooms were being kept in a clean, conscious environment. I love Hotel Graphy Nezu!!!!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel Graphy Nezu for a week during winter. We had a little trouble finding the hotel the first time but you'll get used to the long walk from Ueno station. Nezu station is a lot closer but Ueno has a direct train to Narita airport and is two stops away from Akihabara. The hotel staff speak very good English and we had no problem communicating with them! Do note that there isn't an elevator so be prepared to carry your luggage up the stairs. The room was small and cozy, expected of Japanese hotel rooms. We booked a double bed but it's quite small. We're used to sleeping together on a single bed and we're not very tall/big so this bed was spacious for us. (It's great for cuddling in winter to keep warm though!) Heating in the room was comfortable and easy to control as well. Bathroom necessities (shampoo, shower gel, etc) all provided too! Lots of power sockets so don't worry about need extension cords (but remember a power adapter please.) Breakfast is a generous sandwich with a choice of fillings, their tea is really really good. Great atmosphere for planning your day. They also have a large lounge area with decent kitchen facilities (and like 8 microwave ovens...!?) Pretty easy to find amenities in the area. If you head towards to Nezu station from the hotel, there are plenty of convenience stores. A little bit further on and you'll find a supermarket and a 24 hour Yoshinoya.

Charming little hotel a few stations out from Tokyo. Fantastic accomodating staff with happy smiley faces to greet you! On booking this hotel I didn't realise Tokyos main Zoo was just a short walk away and I loved the few hours I spent there. Small rooms as you'll find in most hotels in Japan but they were clean and very comfortable! Loved the Cafe, common areas where you can cook your own food in the kitchen...chill out watching TV or the relax on the deck out front! Give the staff a 10/10...enjoyed my stay.

We stayed here for five nights in December, in a room with an attached bathroom. The place was clean and comfortable, and we were lucky to have been on the second floor as there was no elevator, which might be slightly inconvenient for those with a lot of luggage. We absolutely loved the location, which has many quaint little eateries and bars just 5 minutes away on foot, and a cafe/bar just downstairs. Would definitely return again :)

Great place to stay! We enjoyed it very much and would stay again. However if you're going to get the breakfast deal included just be aware that the only breakfast they offer is one type of sandwich, we stayed 9 nights. 10 days of the same sandwich day after day is not fun. They really need to extend their breakfast menu. As everyone above has mentioned checkin is at 3pm. This sucks, especially when you fly in to tokyo at 7am. And then you get there and all they have to offer is a sandwich, that same sandwich you will have for the rest of your days in japan. The only other issue we had was with housekeeping, their services were great. Although, It was just the time they began working. When you're on holiday you don't particularly won't to be woken by vacuuming at 8am. Which confused me, if they're up so early cleaning the rooms, why do people have to wait until 3pm to check in. It's a relatively new hotel, so there are some things that need ironing out. But above all it was a great place to stay, everything was clean, the location was great and staff were super friendly, even though they would only make sandwiches in the morning.

No frills accommodation in a different side of Tokyo. Nice interiors and well-maintained facilities. Will be great if there are translations for the Remote control to the air conditioner/heater. Pretty quiet neighborhood - good for strolling and stumble-upons. An alternative to getting to Narita if you don't wanna walk 1.2km to Keisei. Take Chiyoda line from Nezu to Nishi-nippori. Then change to JR line and stop at Nippori. You can choose the normal or express train to Narita at Nippori.

i didn't expect a lot from this hotel as i booked the room only one night prior to my stay. Surprisingly, The staff there had impressed me a lot. Everybody were very helpful and they speak english fluently. Shared bathroom is not a problem at all. they were clean at all time. Special thanks to the uncle who was the morning shift front staff who rode me to Tokyo Uni the morning i checked out. i was about to rent the bike for 15 mins to ride to the Uni and he offered me a ride instead as he knew that i was in a hurry to catch the morning flight. i really appreciated that and that was the biggest impression of Tokyo visit this time of mine.

When we were choosing the hotel for our trip to Tokyo, we knew we wanted a hotel experience that is different than what we get back home, so we thought we will give Hotel Graphy a try- When we arrive, the room is true to the photo, very nice and clean. Staffs are friendly and helpful. There is a shared lounge area on the ground floor, equipped with a few kitchenette, wifi and TV. Good value for the hotel price. Great location, 15 mins walk from JR station and 5 mins from the closest metro station. Also there is couple great museum near by within 15 mins walk. Tokyo national museum is just around the ueno park and is a must see! Very pleasant stay!

Quiet, extremely clean hotel. Friendly & helpful staff. Close to Ueno & Nezu stations. Will stay there again for sure. The only thing which was uncomfortable was the lack of an elevator, either a small luggage dumbwaiter or a people one. We stayed on the4th floor so getting the suitcases up there was heavy as. We organized for someone to take our bags down when we left so that was ok. All very clean and nice. Kept fit by going up and down the 4 floors several times a day.

+ this hotel would be perfect for a large group since it has a great lounge, common area and kitchen shared by the guests + nice cafe in the hotel - no wifi in the room, only in the common areas - early checkout time of 10am was a little inconvenient - not all rooms have a bathroom - no elevator so not convenient if you have large and heavy suitcases

Nice service, clean enviromence and relax atmosphere. But it's better to have an elevator for taking luggages upstairs.

Hotel Graphy Nezu is a new boutique hostel (I will call it that because it had shared bathrooms) nestled in a quiet section of Ueno. The area it is in is residential. On one side you have Tokyo University, all of the museums and Ueno Park. A short walk to Ueno station where you can depart on your adventures. On the other side is the trendy neighbourhood of Nezu which is a hipster's dream. The room is very nicely furnished in the minimalist Japanese style one would expect. There is a mini-fridge, kettle and hairdryer in the room. The shared bathrooms and toilets were very well maintained - cleaned at the same time every day. The rooms are cleaned very efficiently and discreetly. I feel bad for some of the housekeeping staff after messing up some parts of the room on the first couple of nights there. Everything was really cool.

Nezu neighbourhood is excellent for an old Tokyo feel away from tourist masses and the busy neon lights of new Tokyo places like Shinjuku and Shibuya (those are about a 30 minute JR or metro ride away). Cheap supermarket with great ready made Japanese meals is only 5 minutes away. Kitchen facilities had everything we needed to cook. Rooms made up every day and were always spotless. So were the shared bathrooms and shower. There was a choice between Japanese-style shower and a Western shower. Air conditioned, great wifi, easy check in, friendly staff always greeted you. If you're looking for a party place, this probably isn't it. It was quiet, cosy and stylish.

Hotel Graphy is tucked away in a quiet corner of Nezu -- its a great place to explore downtown, old Tokyo and is close enough to the subway station for it to be a good base to wander around other parts. The staff were always ready to answer any questions we had, and always greeted us pleasantly when we left and returned. The entire property does not have lifts so if you have a lot of luggage or elderly members of your party, we highly recommend requesting for a room on a lower floor. Our only gripe was that the rooms weren't always very clean -- there was leftover rubbish from the previous occupants under the bed, and an instance where other rubbish found its way into our room.

The hotel is close to Ueno (Wi-a-no) Park. It was difficult to find on the first day. The hotel is located in a mainly residential area. If you are travelling from Ueno Station. Use the Park Gate exit. Then after crossing the road stay right. Follow the path until you see the Starbucks. Take any of the paths to the right of the Starbucks until you reach the road. Stay on the left side of the road heading straight. You will pass a restroom on your left and a coffee shop on your right. Continue to the end of the road and turn left. Turn left at the next two intersections. You will pass a school on your left. Take the first street on your right until the reach the end. Turn right and cross the road. Take the first street on your left. The hotel is on your left about 200M. The room was very clean. The bathroom is shared. It had two showers, full bathroom (bath and shower), toilet (western), and a face basin. For your privacy curtains were provided for the showers and full bathroom. Shampoo, conditioner, and soap were provided in each shower room. The hotel also sells laundry soap for ¥200. However, washing and drying is free. If you plan to use these machines give yourself enough time. They said the washing and drying could take up to 4hrs. If you are a sensitive sleeper then bring ear plugs. Because, sometimes the neighbours get noisy. There is a café and bar downstairs. Checking-in and checking-out were quick. There are convenience stores close by.

My wife and I were in Tokyo for a conference at the university and the Graphy Nezu was the closest reasonably priced Hotel. It was great and we will use it again. My only complaint is that a small double is really too small for two tall westerners. However we managed. The Hotel operates as a series of bedrooms (with or without bathrooms (we had a bathroom) and then it has a large and well equipped Kitchen/Lounge area so if you want to be self sufficient and cook then you can.

hotel is clean, good equipped, tourist friendly, but they intend to clean every single day all the rooms so I had to make myself a "Do not distrurb!" sign...apart of that I highly recommend it to everyone...metro connection to downtown/train and bus stations is ok, 30min by metro Roppongi/Shibuya/Shinjoku (so the life and party) area, reasonable price

It's a 5 min walk to the nearest subway station (Nezu station). Tried to use Google to get the cheapest fare compared to taking the nearest JR train station (which is Ueno station) - very effective and accurate. The hotel is clean and has enough cooking facilities (has 5 cooking ranges, 3 microwave units, 2 bread toasters, 2 rice cookers, kettles, coffee maker, BBQ grills, 2 big fridges, and everything else you need in cooking. Daily housekeeping is a plus factor. They provide bath towels, hand towels, toothbrush and paste, hair dryer, cotton buds and cotton pad for makeup removal. Free use of washing machine and dryer. You can get a laundry powder at the reception for JPY200. Rental bike to move around is also available. Great lounge area to relax and socialize. The only setback is that there is no elevator. Toilets and bathrooms are enough, no queuing. They have a café, which is also handy. Nearby stores and supermarket are available. A 24H Yoshinoya is around the corner.

I loved the place - simple and elegant. Staff super friendly, helpful and english speaking. Rooms were modern and clean with comfortable bed. A little bit far from Ueno train and metro station, but later we found that there is another station, Nezu, very close to the hotel, so it was very easy to get to any place in the city. Highly recomended!
