A very nice hotel for the price. It is in the middle of the Walled City and you can walk almost anywhere (except for the beach). Right down the street from 4 awesome restaurants as well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent lower cost option"
Avoiding the high prices of boutique hotels in the Centro area, Casa Carmen offered a nice, clean, comfortable lower-cost experience. We stayed 6 nights, so it was great that the hotel gave us a quad room despite booking a double (at double's rate); there was space to spread out and be comfortable. The Getsemani neighborhood was a pleasure- lots of […] local life, plus shops for drinks and snacks and the great Plaza Trinidad nearby, and a short walk to clock tower. The A/C worked excellently which is very needed in Cartagena. There was no hot water, and I love a hot shower, but if I can survive it, anyone can! Breakfasts were nice, with Colombian coffee, juice, fruit, eggs and a starch (the days with arepas were a favorite!). Breakfast can take awhile if all the guests turn up at once, since it's one person cooking fresh and serving, but we were never in a rush so it didn't matter to us. The desk was staffed 24hrs, laundry service was reasonable, and Christian spoke English which was a huge plus given my poor Spanish. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
A well located, small hotel with larger rooms and a good breakfast. Our first room, very large, was slated for renovation, but it was the only one ready, so we had it for one night. There was a dank odour that became apparent, which may explain why it needs renovating. We were swtiched to an equally larger room that was fine. Staff and service was very […] friendly and courteous. Quite good value for Cartagena. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Situated about 5mins walk from the historical centre, this is a good new hotel in Cartagena. Breakfast included with good WiFi, a roof terrace and friendly, helpful staff. Excellent value.
"Wonderful hotel near Cartegena`s old town."
Cozy and gorgeous small hotel with wonderful staff. Rooms are spacious and comfortable, and come with AC and satellite TV. Simple but good breakfast served in the morning. The location is great: 5 minutes from the Clock Gate. The vicinity is the best nightlife area in Cartagena. Totally recommended!Genuine Expedia guest review
"kleines gemütliches Stadthotel mitten in Getsemani"
"First impression was not good, rest of the stay OK"

the tip: unless you want to pay more than 5 times the usual taxi fare from the airport, do not take their airport-hotel transfer. about the location: outside can be kind of scary on the weekends because of the intense nightlife.

This is a very small hotel, with very friendly and helpful staff and is in a really good location. The roof top terrace is nice place to have a drink. The breakfast is simple but is fine to start your day. We stayed there at the beginning and the end of our trip. The first room was upstairs in the back of the hotel and was very quite, large (3 beds) and really clean. We left our luggage there as we were going to Tayrona NP and to Palamino and only wanted to take back packs. We specifically reserved a room for the following week but when we returned they advised that they had given our room to someone else. We returned about 3:00 on the day we said we would be back so it wasn't like we didn't show up when we said we would! That was very frustrating as the only room they had available was queen size and we had reserved one with twin beds. They sent us to another hotel close by but it wasn't in a very good location so we cam back and took the only available room they had. It worked out ok but again, it was a bit disappointing that they did that. Regardless, I would recommend staying here, lots of good restaurants close by.

If you are in a short vacation and look for somewhere good to stay that keeps you away of the hit outside in Cartagena and you just think you deserve good, come here! It's was just amazing place to stay, great beds, very clean rooms and the place itself, very good staff, including breakfast, and so close to everything! Very good place!
"A little gem"

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at beautiful Casa Carmen and would like to thank all of the staff. The building itself is gorgeous and quaint. Despite other reviews on here we found it to be well located, just off the busier road Media Lunar and our stay was not affected by any noise. Our room was also ground floor, street-facing and next to reception but remained quiet throughout our stay. Just a 10 minute walk to the walled city and with plenty of eating/drinking options nearby. Breakfast in the courtyard was ample and mainly consisted of coffee, juice, various fruit and then huevos pericos. The staff were really helpful but one thing that could perhaps be improved is the amount of tourist information and literature available, a very minor quibble only. Highly recommended.
I loved Casa Carmen Hotel. It was located really close to the main square in the ancient city and in a really pretty street. Our room was in the first floor, it was super clean and confortable. I'd also recommend to take the breakfast here because it's included! and it was delicious.
"watch out for overbooking"

We actually never got to stay here. We booked our room four months in advance on Expedia and we were to pay when we arrived. When we got there the front desk lady said our room wouldn't be ready for a couple of hours, which was fine so we left our stuff there and then returned when it was suppose to be ready. When we got back she said we have no room for you. I showed her our reservation, but she said that they had overbooked and she could put us in another hotel close. We checked out the other hotel room and it was horrible! We ended up having to scramble to find another hotel room in the city which was a huge fiasco. Lesson learned, don't book through expedia or any other travelsite except the hotel directly or they won't hold your reservation unless you put down a deposit. This was not mentioned on my reservation through Expedia.

Super clean, super friendly, super location! What more could you ask for? The staff were amazing with answering any questions. The location is on a side street but this makes you feel a part of the neighbourhood which is fantastic! My room was huge and everything worked properly. Can't say enough how really clean and comfortable this was. If ever I return to Cartagena this will be where I want to stay.
"Precious terrace views; great location; pleasant helpful staff!"

We were so excited to return to Cartagena and wanted to explore Cartagena's Getsemani neighborhood, so Casa Carmen was ideal! It's a very quiet property, their patio is an oasis, the breakfasts were just lovely, staff knowledgeable & pleasant, and we loved our room. One evening we purchased a bottle of wine and enjoyed happy hour on the hotel-top terrace with its views of the fort and sunset breezes. The moon was rising as the sun was setting. Oh, and don't miss dining at La Gaucha restaurant just down the street from Casa Carmen. We enjoyed a splendid meal there!
"Stay in Casa Carmen"

We stay 4 nights in Casa Carmen, in a nice 5 bed room. Casa Carmen is a small , cozy hotel, with wi-fi, a p.c. if you need and a terrace on the top, where it is possible to relax and to give a look to Cartagena in the night. Breakfast is delicious and served in the courtyard. The staff is lovable and very helpful. We enjoyed our days.
