"Near west gate of Taj Mahal"
fantastic staff. Plenty hot water. Mattress and pillows proudly proclaimed as high quality foam rubber but very uncomfortable to sleep on. Major dislike was unpaved walk of 100 ft from curbside to hotel steps that was poorly lit at night. Needed a flashlight to avoid dog waste.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very comfortable.Restaurant was however away and was costly Access was unpleasant.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice and New"
staff could have been more helpful, wifi not working in the room they didn't bother to fix it. They show the rocket science of how to open a tap and switch TV on and become greedy for tips.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"great hotel and restaurant"
My partner and I stayed two nights, we found the staff very helpful and friendly. The hotel was in a good location near the Taj and red fort. The hotels restaurant has great food. The rooms are very nice and comfortable and a great place to relax after being on the streets all day.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice Room , But not like a hotel"
The Stay in Agra at this hotel with Family was good experience. We had an overnight so we looked at the Hotel Room & Cleanliness rather than facilities. Pointers:- 1. Rooms are extremely Clean , bathroom is excellent too. 2. There is no lift facility and room is on Ground , Ist floor & Second floor too 3. You will never be able to find the entry to […] the hotel unless guided by authorities of Hotel Ray Maya which is located opposite side of the road 4. Car parking is an issue , though hotel authorities try and provide some space (On Road) 5. Hotel does not have kitchen service (Outside hotel you can get several eateries - Best one is Pinch of Spice which is 5 mins away from the hotel). Hotel food of Ray Maya was not great. 6. Hotel staff are proactive and help you in luggage carrying , room food availability from Ray Maya etc. All in all if you are just looking for an excellent room and Good bathroom this place is good , There is nothing like a hotel concept with this property. I would rather call it a Service Apt. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"GOOD 3 stars hotel nice and clean with wifi"
The most important for me was CLEAN room, this was perfectly clean, room and bathroom, very nice shower, spa quality. Also excellent WiFi and the room was my bubble to scape from the noisy street and crazy full on Agra. The LOCATION IS FANTASTIC, close to Taj Mahal, about 5 minutes walk, but the hotel is in some kind of alley, no in the main street, […] so if you are looking for it you have to find the Maya hotel first, on the main street. Is the same company, but Ray of Maya is the new hotel with nice rooms, but for eating just go to Maya hotel, good food and service. I think is good not to be in the main road actually, because of the noise of the street. Anyway, I want to recommend this hotel, because for us was a good experience, difficult to find because we arrive at 3am without the phone number of the hotel, but the staff is ok if you need a coca cola or a taxi to delhi or whatever. EXcellent option for visit the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort, there is no much else to see in Agra! cheers from Chile! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Praktisches Hotel in Agra"
Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We can see the Taj in the rooftop. The room seems with age but still keep clean. The light color in the room not so bright, but enugh.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to west gate but noisy"
03/11/14 Papino_Tereko Montreal, Canada
It is close to the Taj, it takes 20 minutes to reach the West gate, a very good point. The room are neat, a lot of hot water. A flat screen T.V and a lot of channels. All the AC outlet work for recharge our devices. The Wi-fi is there but internet is very intermitted. The restaurant is one of the best in our journey in India. The only sad part of that good location is that you gonna need earplugs to sleep well, because of the proximity of a busy boulevard. Other thing you need to know, negotiate the price of your room with a smile. if you stay more than one day, the staff is always ready to help.
"thank you naveen"

We were supposed to stay here for 2 nights, 23 to 24 Feb. Mr. Naveen thank you for understanding my problem. We were an elderly couple. I had hurt my leg. There was no elevator so I could not stay here. The Hotel was situated on both sides of a very busy road. To be able to eat you had to cross from the new side to the main Hotel - very difficult for me. The old section was very busy and what I could see of the dining room it was full and all the young guests were very happy. Mr Naveen was very understanding and gave us another address - a Hotel with an elavator. Not many owners are so polite and correct - we were not charged for our stay.

Thank you to all of the staff at Ray of Maya especially MAYANK AGRAWAL who helped us so much with copying, printing and sending off some important documentation. Your help was so appreciated Mayank! Our room was lovely and quiet and the bed most comfortable. We had a great sleep and are rested and ready for the Taj Maha, this morning! Will definitely recommend your hotel to fellow travellers.
"Don't judge a book by..other books around it!"

Don't judge Ray of Maya by it's surroundings! We spotted this place from afar actually, since it's exterior are colorful and stood out..as we got closer we started to dread it. When we first arrived I almost thought "oh well thats money down the drain" you had to walk along a small dirt road it felt like walking towards a back-alley motel. So glad we chose this hotel (looking at the state of the area, I doubt we could've done any better) I was relieved to see the stairs up to the lobby was fairly clean and decorated in local motif. The staff greeted us, very friendly. Checking in was a breeze and was showed to our room, fortunately there were ground staff to help with our 4 big bags up the stairs! We chose this place for the price & how it looked in pictures, fortunately it was not far off from the real thing. The room was spacious, pretty clean, decent bedding, more local motif wall decorations, good working TV with some international channels. The bathroom was not disappointing. We got a room facing the back yard so we're a bit protected from the main street noise. The room included breakfast but you had to cross the street to the restaurant. Location of course is great just a few steps to Taj Mahal entrance. For the price I would recommend Ray of Maya.

We stayed at the Ray of Maya for six nights in January 2014. The hotel has a great location - just outside the Taj Ganz. It is down a path a short way from the main road so it is very quiet. The roof top patio is a great place to spend the early evening hours. The staff was friendly and helpful. We booked a suite which is not worth the extra money. All you get is a sitting area that is a very small space filled to bursting with furniture. While we had some concerns about the rooms cleanliness when we arrived (the sheets were stained and had small holes) on our last night when we looked under the mattress we were shocked to discover that the mattress had mold and lots of dust and hair stuck to it. The place has lots of potential but definitely needs to pay more attention to the state of the mattresses and linens.
"Very near Taj Mahal! - Recommended"
02/09/14 Patrick V Bruges, Belgium
We did the right thing to choose this hotel. Very near the Taj Mahal (at about 800 metres from the main entrance). Staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is situated in an alley with a dirt road. The concept of the hotel is modern - it looks and is very clean. We had a spacious room with a large and modern bathroom (the best bathroom we had during our trip in India). Everything what we needed was foreseen in the room (towels, double sheets, toiletpaper, television, etc..). The restaurant is situated at the other side of the street (Maya restaurant). The food is delicious. It is a clean restaurant with a very modern and clean ktitchen. Minus: watch out for the dog turds in the dirtroad to the hotel. Use a torch when it is dark. This review is made taking into account the Indian hotel standards.
"Great value in a clean hotel"
02/03/14 bpmajors Greenville, South Carolina
We stayed one night at the Ray of Maya so we could visit the Taj and other Agra sights. A very clean hotel with friendly and accommodating staff. Our room, #6 had a partial view of the Taj Mahal but that was all they promised in their ad. We also enjoyed both their roof top and downstairs restaurants. Very good food, fairly priced. Good table service from the staff. Fortunately for us, ROM introduced us to the best tour guide in northern India, Armish Sharma. Armish is well-educated with a masters degree, knowledgeable about the sites, speaks serveral languages including English and Japanese, and has a very strong customer service orientation regarding taking care of his clients. We cannot recommend him highly enough! He is just a phenomenal tour guide. We recommend ROM for anyone looking for a clean hotel and friendly staff and do not want to spend all of their money on a hotel room.
"Good hotel, unfortunate location!"
01/25/14 Lucy H
Stayed at the Ray of Maya hotel in mid January this year for 3 nights. Soon as the hotel was booked we had an email from a member of staff offering us free pick up from the train station to the hotel (we didm't actually require this but the offer was there!) Our driver dropped us off at the Maya hotel, which is part of the same company - offering breakfast and food as Ray of Maya doesn't have a restaurant to offer. Couldn't see our hotel as it was dark but someone from the Maya hotel showed us there. The hotel is lovely, very clean and staff are very kind and helpful. The location is however particularly unfortunate - in order to get to the hotel you have to walk down an alley way, which in the dark isn't particularly pleasant for 2 young female travellers! In fairness to the hotel, when leaving in the evening a member of staff escorted us to the road. (Obviously this wasn't possible when walking back to the hotel though). Overall a good experience!
"Had a good time!"

This hotel is very close to Taj, only a few minutes walk. The room is great, with a balcony and view of Taj. The staff are very nice especially Mr Naveen and his buddy, they let us taking shower even after we checked out...
"“Great Hotel with Great Restaurants”"

We spent 2 nights here. As this was our first destination in India (Agra), we needed a quiet, beautiful place to recover from our flight and the 4 hour drive from Delhi to Agra. Very Close & Perfect Location near to TAJMAHAL. The rooms were very luxurious and well-kept. The teak wood floors and the gorgeous Indian furniture really enhanced the beauty of an already beautiful room. The English bathrooms were also wonderful. The view of the Taj Mahal was perfect. but you can see on the Roof top.The restaurants were good but little expensive , The most perfect location in Agra.Smiling , Helpful & wonderful staff. This hotel was the best hotel I have ever stayed at this hotel. There was Indian restaurant Service was flawless from arrival to departure. In all a wonderful experience.
