"Good 'n cheap accomodation"

It is a small business located near the Staatsopera. The U-Bahn station Ernst Reuter Platz is about 350 metres away. I appreciated very much the kindness of the landlady Miss Sybille who went out of her way in order to be helpful. She gave me all the information I needed in order to move around Berlin and the last morning of my stay she even cooked a 'personalised' breakfast for me. There is a free wi-fi service with decent speed. Pension Brinn is definitely not a luxury accomodation but if you are on a tight budget it is pretty good value for money.
"Great value for money and superb location"

This Pension is in a superb location in the heart of the Charlottenburg area.It is walking distance to the S and U bahn stations and there are a host of fantastic restaurants nearby. The Pension itself is fantastic with very large rooms and a superb breakfast served by the wonderful host Sibylle. The price for the area and the fact breakfast and WiFi are both included makes this a very affordable alternative to the more expensive hotels nearby where you have to pay extra for certain services. There is a shared bathroom which was always kept spotlessly clean. On our last full day in Berlin we walked from the Pension along the Kurfurstendamm, through the Tiergarten, past the Brandenburg gate and up to Alexanderplatz in the city centre and it took about 90 mins at a leisurely pace. I would certainly return here when I return to Berlin.
"Good location and price, excellent value."

This hotel is located about a block and a half from the underground, which makes getting around very easy. The room was huge, I'm guessing about forty feet long and twelve wide with windows about fifteen feet high. The owner was very helpful and had a wonderful sense of humor. The place looked so clean you'd think you could eat off the floors. Would definitely stay here again.
"You have to promise to keep it a secret"

Why has it taken me three months to tell you about Pension Brin? See, if you know how great this place is, I'll probably have to book two years in advance. But the woman who runs it deserves to have the world know. The location is killer, especially if you love classical music, the Staatsoper is just around the block, if it is still at Schiller Theater. Then the Deutsche Opera is only a short distance away. There is a U-Bahn stop nearby that will take you to Stadtmitte where and you can visit the heart of East Berlin and the Gendarmenmarkt, Fassbender and Rausch for some yummy chocolates and partake of the joys of Friedrichstrasse. You can also stay in the West Berlin area of the Pension and have a 30 minute walk through pleasant neighborhoods to the famous Kurfurstendamm. The innkeeper, Sybelle, serves a tasty but modest German breakfast every morning with rolls and jam and meat and cheese. You can have an egg if you want and there is muesli and yogurt too. I'd suggest taking that walk now. Sybelle is amazingly friendly and loves to chat with the guests. There are only six or seven rooms in total., The building dates from the 1920s or so and the rooms are huge, even the small ones. One of the wonders of this place is the elevator (lift) that is wood paneled with beveled glass windows panes and a wooden bench. The wooden floor is buckled and pops when you step on it. You have to see it to believe it so I have included a photo. The rooms at the front overlook the street which is not particularly noisy although you can get a glimpse of some big trucks.full of the props coming in and out of the Schiller theater as the rear entrance is nearly next door. At night it is very quiet. There are only a few restaurants in the immediate vicinity.
"Outstanding value for money."

This was a fantastic place to stay in Berlin. Amazing value for money when you consider that breakfast and wifi is included. It's a 3 minute walk to the u bahn, or only a 15 minute stroll to kurfurstendamm if you want. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the shared bathroom was convenient and no problem. Sibylle is a perfect hostess. I especially appreciate how she was very flexible with checking in hours and went out of her way to be of help. I would definitely stay here again and thorougly recommend the Pension Brinn to anyone going to Berlin. If you enjoy opera, the Berlin State Opera is temporarily performing in the Schiller theatre which is right around the corner. Great prices and great opera...60 seconds walk away!

Simple and clean pension with a very good breakfast. It's located in a quiet neighbourhood, and just three minutes far from the U-bahn. Very well connected: U-bahn U2, perfect if you want to visit the main tourist spots.
"Good Part Of Town"

This small pension (on the 2nd floor of an apartment/condo complex) is very clean, with large rooms, and a good breakfast. The price is reasonable and the young lady that runs it is friendly and very knowledgable about sights, restaurants, etc. We had a room (which was very large with plenty of light) that had a shared bathroom. The bathroom was always extremely clean. We liked the peaceful location of the pension. It was a 10 minute walk to very good neighborhood restaurants, small grocery stores, and the metro. Free parking is available and close by. If mingling with the locates while eating good German food and drinking great beer at a sidewalk cafe is your objectve, then this is the place.
"Perfect base for touring the city"

Don't let the word Pension fool you. This is an older hotel but spotlessly clean. Breakfasts are good and can be ready when you are with plenty of fresh juice, fruit, coffee, teas, rolls, boiled eggs, cereals. While the idea of shared bathroom may frighten some, the ratio of bathrooms to guest rooms is quite good and we just about had a bathroom to ourselves. the rooms are huge compared to modern budget hotels and the free wireless adds value compared to other higher priced hotels that have a daily fee. The only reason I can't give it a five rating is because of the elevator. It works but ancient. Except for when we checked in, we preferred the stairs.
"Great hospitality and great value for money"

The pension is simple but very clean and lies in a very charming part of Berlin. I was afraid it was located too far from the citycentre but Charlottenburg in itself is a very friendly, quiet yet lively neighbourhood. Lots of restaurants ( in summer all with terasses) to choose from, and lots of shops. The U-station Ernst Reuterplatz is only 200 meter away, and there is free parkingspace within 400 meters. The landlady makes you feel at home and is very interested in your plans and experiences. Of course you share the shower with other guests (only one room has a private shower/toilet), but this is not a problem since the bathroom is tidied up after each visit, and the number of guests per bathroom is limited. The breakfast is simple yet delicious and gives you a good start for the day. We'll be back!
"Steps from U2 U-Bahn"

Unable to find a room right at Tegel Airport I decided Wilmersdorf/Charlottenburg area was convenient for the final 2 nights of my stay, especially being on a budget. I have a friend who lives in this neighborhood which is very safe and very quiet. The best thing about this place is that is a block from Ernst-Reuter-Platz U2 U-Bahn which is the most useful East-to-West+West-to-East subway line in the entire city. It is in one of those pensions one usually finds only in Europe: located in a quasi commercial-residential building and located one floor up from the lobby (there is an elevator but I never used it). My room (#4? at 60 Euros) was the only one with a private toilet/shower. The room itself was very zen-like but clean. The hallways need a good paint job, however, but the small but high-ceilinged main lounge/breakfast room has a faded gentility about it with lots of magazines and fruit always available. I was the only guest but usually it gets very full although it seems that there's been a general hospitality industry slow-down, even at the pension level. The only disappointment was my breakfast where I noticed some mold on one of my breads although the owner sincerely apologized. A trip to her kitchen revealed a very clean-looking space so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt since she was especially nice and welcoming. Best to eat out since I wouldn't like to eat breakfast in such small quarters if the place was full. There are several places down the Schillerstrasse. ***Be aware that as April 2009 there is construction going-on next door for a new opera theater but only during the daytime hours.*** Unique Qualities: A very civilized location. The owner has run the place for 20+ years and lives on-site. She is very welcoming and speaks just a bit of English. She went out-of-her-way to deliver us a tray with coffee, fruit, etc. at 5:30 am since we had an early flight on our final morning in Berlin. Make sure to have her show you how the door to the pension works as the lock is a little bit finicky!
