This is my second time staying at this hotel. Both times have been very pleasant. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is great. The location is quiet but no more than a five minute walk from Juan Les Pins shopping and restaurant area. It is an old style French hotel but the rooms I have been in have been very comfortable and clean.

We stayed here with our three kids for business/vacation for a week. The hotel is beautiful, and clean, and the staff were helpful and kind to the children. The "boys' room" was spacious, but the "girls' room" had two "princess beds" with blue draperies and pink lace reading lamps -- amazing. We did not get the hotel breakfast, but there is a boulangerie directly behind (one block) the hotel with great French breakfast items. If you are feeling flush, Petrossian (two blocks behind the hotel) also has breakfast. Highlights for the kids were the multiple pieces of sea glass (aka "diamonds" and "emeralds") on the rocky beach, the 40,000 BC human footprint at the Terra Amata museum, the try-it-on Roman helmet at the Roman ruins at Ciminez, the many "smell it" displays at the perfume museum in Grasse, Josephine's crown at the Massena museum, the guinea pig house at Parc Phoenix, and the playground on the castle hill. We took the public bus everywhere and the French people were so nice to us (it helps to speak a little French, but we limped along and they were very patient.) Hotel staff almost always spoke English better than my French. Deserving of more than five stars, if we could give them.

Carnot is close to Place Arson, Castle Park, and War Memorial. Also nearby are Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and Nice Theatre.

"Carnot - More like a hostel"
I stayed in a single room in the Carnot early July 2011 because I was on a budget and this place was the cheapest for solo travellers. The hotel is located by the Port, nice enough area itself with a few restaurant choices and 10 mins walk to the tram which takes you to the centre fairly efficiently. It's a bit of a walk after midnight though! The […] hotel itself has not been refurbished for a looooong time although they maintain it fairly well considering that. It has a dated, hostel feel. There is a fan and flatscreen TV in the room, and a daily room service. The couple who run the hotel are friendly enough but speak limited English. On two consecutive days I saw a homeless man wandering the staircase of the hotel, presumably to use the shared toilet facilities or for shelter, so perhaps more could be done about that. "Hotellets läge bra, annars inte mycket positivt..."
Toalett i ett skåp så dörren gick inte att stänga, kranan fungerade inte så kallvatten måste tas från duschen, dörren till balkongen kunde inte låsas ordentligt, utcheckning redan kl. 11, vilket inte stod någonstans i rummet och nämndes inte vid incheckningen. "Enkelt, rimelig og nært det meste"
Egentlig som forventet, da vi benyttet samme hotell for få år siden - og fikk akkurat samme rom som den gang, noe vi satte pris på, fordi rommet har både wc, dusj og balkong. Både rommet og hotellet totalt sett er slitent og innrøkt, og skriker etter renovering. Noen vegger malt i andre farger siden sist var eneste ansiktsløfting vi kunne observere. […] Første bud må være nye senger med skikkelige gode madrasser, som ville oppveie en god del (de eksisterende er ganske nedseget på midten). Rommet har wc, men det må være verdens trangeste - eller rettere sagt korteste, da det ikke er mulig å lukke "døra". Men både wc, vask og dusj fungerer OK. Balkongen er også minimal, men det plass til to stoler og en krakk midt mellom som bord. Med retning mot ettermiddags-/kveldssola er den likevel veldig kjærkommen. Positivt ang. service: Håndkleskift hver dag. Negativt: Dårlig renhold før ankomst. Mest positivt: Beliggenheten helt topp: Problemfritt å gå til fots til jernbanestasjonen, de to sentrale sentrumstorgene, til badestrand og annen badeplass, til havn og ferge, samt enkle, rimelige spisesteder i nærmiljøet. "Sorry, just not nice"
Cheap place, old place, no internet, too many people making love behind thin walls and a not-so-friendly Mr and Mrs Carnot with a pretty sloppy attitude. We did not feel welcome at all. We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. The location was pretty good, near the vielle ville. But the hotel..... the room was REALLY small. There was no proper washroom, the toilet was behind "cabin doors". Shower was ok. Worst thing was that there was no air conditioning, so it was too hot all the time.
