Great service. Everyone worked well as team. We were never in need of anything. Miguel, Maria, Jesús did a spectacular job. The food was spectacular. Great flavor and presentation. We had panela a la plancha, arracha y costillas del fraile en mole
We stayed at this beautiful Hacienda from 8/7/15 - 8/10/15. We were picked up promptly from the airport by Raul (Driver). On our way back to the airport, Raul went out of his way to stop by our aunt's house so we could pick our cell phone which we'd forgotten the day before. Raul also safely drove us to and back from a family wedding we attended nearby. He provided us with in depth information of the Hacienda's history, town, and and surrounding areas. Raul was reliable, knowledgeable, and made us feel most welcomed. We also received a fabulous massage and facial treatment from Maribel (Masseur). Maribel was great and attentive, she made us feel at home, pampered, and extremely relaxed. Our rooms were also kept impeccably clean spotless during our stay by Rocio (Housekeeper). Rocio made sure our rooms were well maintained all day every day of our stay. Rocio even gave us a tour of all the different rooms of the Hacienda during our last day. All the rooms are spectacular, we felt transported back in time to the Hacienda's past. We also want to add that the food was authentically delicious! However, what's needed to positively compliment the good food and spectacular outside seating area, is authentic Mexican traditional music which would go along great in a place such as this one so rich in Mexican history. We would also like to thank the rest of the hotel personnel for their excellent hospitality including Maria, Jesus, room service, waiters, and kitchen staff.
Overall, we strongly recommend anybody in the world to stay at this extraordinary Hacienda Hotel. We plan on making this Hacienda Hotel our vacation retreat.

The staff at this Hacienda went out of their way to make us happy! This is the perfect hotel if you are visiting the guachimontones pyramids. There are bicycles and horses on property. Best to go without having a desire for Internet , very poor connection.
We recently spent two nights at the Hacienda Labor de Rivera on our way back to the coast from San Miguel de Allende. We chose this property because it looked like it was an authentic hacienda style plantation/ranch. We were not disappointed! The manager, Carlos, and front desk receptionist, Gris, were incredibly hospitable and made sure we had everything we needed. We had prearranged to do a little tour of the property by horseback and I would highly recommend this activity. We had lovely Rachel as our guide and although she could not speak much English, with our limited Spanish we managed just fine. We had two great breakfasts and two fabulous dinners, creatively prepared by a very talented chef. She (I think Gabby was her name), came personally to our table a number of times with little creations from the kitchen. Our entire experience was wonderful and we will definitely return with friends for another weekend getaway.
A restful journey back into time, from the moment you drive through twinned-gated walls, slipping beneath a brilliant green tree canopy, alongside a clear lake, approaching the gracious sloping lawn, until you glide past the front entrance of Hacienda Labor de Rivera, your senses are suddenly alerted to an unfolding experience unlike any other. Your inner child is at play, you long for the perfect romantic partner to experience this adventure in Hacienda living. Do take a special someone to experience Hacienda Labor de Rivera.
There is a lyrical sound trumpeting through the air, the sound of hoofbeats, the sound of a restless stirring. Is it your mind, sifting through the possibilities, your heart pounding at unseen delights awaiting the fatigued traveler? Onsite is a fabulous Friesian stud, whom greeted us upon our arrival. Neighs and whinnies trumpeted the air, it was as if, even the creatures were welcoming us!
Have you finally arrived? Yes, Hacienda Labor de Rivera is everything you could possibly imagine in an historical property, a Hacienda restored to its' former glory, staffed with friendly locals and an impassioned woman chef, who'll tickle your palette with the finest of local delicacies, spices, fresh vegetables, sauces and the like.
Stepping out of your vehicle onto a stoned paver path, you can't help but to notice the meticulously kept ivy keepers stone house at the side entry, which takes you down to a lawned courtyard and a wide granite landing upon which you step through the portal of these centuries old doors. The concierge's desk is situated as if you were sitting down in the study of a friend and as soon as the formalities have been seen to, you will be shown into the inner court of the Hacienda, where a fine libation awaits your thirst.
Key in hand, you are free to wander the u-shaped inner court, flanked by a centuries old chapel, built into the confines of your evenings' abode. The center courtyard has a fountain, original to the property, oversized furniture claims the space comfortably, with beautiful antiques accentuating the colonnaded passageways leading to your chamber.
The afternoon of our arrival, a very famous Cabalero, Jorge, assisted us with a ride about the grounds. My mount, Delgado was fleet as a deer, a quarter horse, thoroughbred bred trail horse. A fine mount, beautiful confirmation. Hacienda Labor has a full time trainer and a stable of 50+ AQUA Quarter-horses, from all over the Americas. The horses reach their full potential through exemplary training at Labor. If you are so fortunate to visit when demonstrations are being held in their very fine arena, you are in for a heart pounding, racy experience, as the horses work horned bulls in the ring. We experienced an incredible tequila tasting, complete with small plates of locally spiced tapas and some of the finest tequila I've ever sipped.
Dining was 5 star, fabulous wines from Argentina, Chile and more Mexican Tequila with chilled mineral water accentuated the sumptuous banquet our hosts provided. The wait staff have devised the perfect sense of timing and delicately attend to their guests in a very, noninvasive fashion. You can appreciate the finest of service, knowing your conversations will go seamlessly without interruptions. It was indeed, one of the finest dining experiences ever, I've had, in Mexico or Europe.
After dinner, I was so exhausted and tipsy, I actually left my room key in the antique oak door to my chamber! Not to worry ladies, your sanctity is well respected and honored by the staff, whom no doubt laughed at the "chica" for being so carless. Think of yourself as being in the hands of a well managed fortress, with an attentive, non invasive staff, there to ensure your ever desire be met and your best interests are served.
One other lovely afterthought, ask your hosts about an evening bonfire!!!
The room was exquisite with two queen sized beds, linen of the finest cotton, soft, succulent, restful. Between my two beds was a crucifix hung on the wall, beautifully carved. I said my prayers after a long shower and slept until the early morning when thunder clapped and reverberated down from the ancient hills. Dawn crept in with a welcoming rain showering the morning light.
Sadly my time was limited, but I do hope to return with a girlfriend get-a-way horseback riding adventure, interested in seeing the many attributes of Hacienda Labor. I have a feeling, I've only scratched the surface of the many secrets Mexico has to reveal.
The hacienda is a perfect getaway from the city. The rooms are impeccably furnished, clean and quiet. Dinner was delicious! Fresh ingredients, good portion sizes and very attentive service. The property is super quiet at night and feels isolated so it was great for a group get together. That may be a problem for someone looking for more activity. It's definitely a place to relax and enjoy the equestrian theme. The horses look well taken care of and everyone seems to genuinely care about the history and purpose of the property. This is what makes it special and unlike just another hotel.
We stumbled on this exquisite hideway - We were driving from Mexico City to Punta Mita and needed a stop - wished we had 3 days here. A 400 or 500 year old hacienda is quiet, well appointed and feels like you are in another world with still having a 2014 hotel experience. We enjoyed both a fabulous dinner and great breakfast. Be prepared - no televisions in the rooms - no cell reception though some internet connection. The grounds are exquisite as well - if you are looking for a complete breakaway from the world this would be the Mexican hideaway to do so!!!
I'd seen a documentary on the archeological site in Teuchitlan. We wanted to visit, and just get away from the fast-paced city. A friend recommended the Hacienda Labor de Rivera and I fell absolutely in love with the property.
It is so beautiful and so peaceful, definitely off the beaten tourist track. The history here is real, a perfect complement to the Guachimonton pyramids.
Our room was spacious, the bed and pillows extra-comfortable. And the food? Exquisite… fresh and prepared a la minute. From the time we arrived until we left, we both felt welcome and pampered.
This new boutique hotel is a hidden treasure.
