The Hotel Buelta was perfect for my short one night stay. The location is very close to the Atocha Rail Station and was easy to find. The location of many restaurants across the street and in the area was exceptional. The hotel room was fresh and clean. The shower, toilet area were separated from the wash sink. I really enjoyed the simplicity and size […] of the shower. One staying for several days might wish to select a larger room, but for one night it was great. I would select this hotel again anytime. "great little hostel!"
I stayed for two nights in a private single room while searching for an apartment. It was tiny and simple, as to be expected, but cute and clean and had all the necessities. No AC, only a fan, so in august it was pretty warm, but not too bad. Staff was super helpful. Awesome location.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Perfect location if you are using the train system"
I stayed for a 8 days with the idea of traveling by train and visiting the local museums. They are located very close to the 3 most popular museums and "Parque de Retiro", and right across from the main train station. I also found out that the most popular and expensive night club is also right across from them on Paseo Atocha. It's walking distance […] from the center of Madrid; if you can walk 1mile, then you dont need to take the Metro. The rooms are small, but that is a standard in Europe. My room had it's own bathroom, but the bathtub was too narrow. There is no air conditioning, they have one fan. The look is not modern and the tv set is 13", so, if you are planning to spend much time in your room this may not be the hostal for you. If you need a bed to crash and a bathroom to freshen up, then this is perfect. As far as price, I do not have a good baseline since I bought a flight/hotel package, but I probably payed for being the summer season as opposed to room quality, about $50(33EU)/night; which should have been more like $15/night anywhere else in the countryside. Overall, I am happy with it and would go back, but maybe try to get a better deal. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The hostel is located very close to metro, train station, and main avenues.Genuine Expedia guest review
If you want to walk 5 min to the Prado musuem , the botanical garden .. Pretty much all the sites are in a 10 min walking distance range. The location is amazing so many resturants and the main train station is across the street plus a very good affordable bars all around that area. One euro for a glass of wine and you can sit down outside and relax. […] The room is small!!! The bed isn't that comfortable. But I didn't go to Spain to stay in the room. It was a decent hotel and you have your own bed and bathroom. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Convenient location to Paseo Del Prado museums."
I enjoyed my stay at the hotel because it was clean and had the basic needs for a traveler. It also had Internet service for sending e-mails. In addition, there are numerous historic museums and sites very conveniently located near the hotel that I visited. Can't beat that!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Location, Location, Location....this is absolutely"
\the Best location in the museum district, Reina Sofia in the same block, the Prada is 3 blocks away. On a no traffic street with many good small restaurants and bars. "Dumpy little hotel near the Prado."
We didn't have any illusions about Hotel Buelta. We just wanted an inexpensive place to crash after flying all night to Madrid. We were still disappointed about how strange the room was. The bathroom door was broken so it didn't close; there was no decor to speak of, and the lights cast an eerie mood.Genuine Expedia guest review
Friendly and helpful folks at front desk. Perfect location - near Atocha and major art museums. Simple, basic room, comfortable bed. No A/C, some street noise, but would stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cheap hotel in a convenient location"
The room is clean but very simple. However, it is extremely small and old. Quite shocked for the first night.Genuine Expedia guest review
Awesome! But hot.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent location to Express Bus/Train station"
The hotel is pretty good for the money. However, the 2 restaurants downstairs are attracting some rudy crowds and rather noisy all night, then in the early morning, the restaurant staff are making a lot of noise on taking the trash dumpsters out and cleaning.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The location of this hotel is excellent....5 minutes walk to Bus Stop for Airport Express and Atocha Train Station. However, the 2 restaurants across the alley (walkway) are attracting patrons who are rather roudy and gather and talk outside the restaurants well into 2 or 3 AM.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Clean & great location if you came from Atocha train stationGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Good location and convenient to travel around! Great location in Madrid!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Definitely an experience"
Basement room, right over the metro line--the room shakes when a train goes by. The light switch for the room is in the hall. It's a challenge to persuade the door to the room to close and latch; the bathroom door doesn't shut at all. No windows, but plenty of ambient light leaking in from the hall--even without the trains it would have been almost […] impossible to sleep. I didn't. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Needs an upgrade"
Maybe a total reno! Very old and shabby. The door to our room was flimsy and hard to lock. The light switch was on the outside of the room! No glasses or toiletries, but the room was cheap. The safe was broken. However was a short walk from Atocha station and had a street of restaurants below, KFC etc. Could be noisy at night., but didn't worry us. […] Next door to Reina Sofia Picasso Guernica, walk to Thyssen-Bornemissia Museum and Prado. Also to the gardens, lovely in the sunny weather. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Comfy beds, good location, but noisy from outside"
The hostal Buelta was absolutely fantastic for the price, with a comfy bed, relatively reliable inclusive wifi. My pidgin Spanish was adequate both to check in and then ask to change from the double room allocated to a twin room, the beds were both very comfortable, and while the room was not luxurious, it was perfectly clean. In common with other budget […] places in Spain, you need to take your own shampoo and shower gel (liquid soap for washing hands is fixed above the sink), and light sleepers will definitely want to bring earplugs, as the location on the Calle de Atocha is excellent but means that there is a lot of external noise. The room wasn't what you'd expect for five times the price, but for what we paid was a very pleasant surprise, and the breakfasts at the Casa Luciano across the road were much better than you'd expect in a cheap hotel, making up for the lack of included breakfast. Maybe not a place for trying to impress a romantic partner, but definitely an excellent base for a budget traveller to Madrid, and we may well be back again next year. Thanks to everyone at the Hostal, who were lovely throughout our 5 day stay. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"We didn't stay long."
When we got there it was cold and very basic. The lights had to be turned on at the same time as a bedside lamp. You couldn't have one or the other on. Some rooms had no plug sockets. It would be okay if you were backpacking and passing through. But do not go here with children.Genuine Expedia guest review
Easy to get to using the Atocha bus from the airport and very close to great museums and an easy walk to Sol and Plaza Mayor. Rooms are clean but VERY basic -- a trip to the 1950s. Good deal though if you are looking to save money and don't want to schlep your luggage though the metro.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Being so close to the station (both metro and the regional major station) is great and easy for travel even though madrid is so central. Hostel staff are great and friendly. Would go back. It is also very close to the museums which is great for tourists.Genuine Expedia guest review

"The best you can get for the price"
Very friendly and helpful reception which is open 24h, amazing location; you can get nearly everywhere on foot! The room was bigger than I expected and spotless, obviously is not a posh five star, but I didn't go to Madrid to stay in the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel near to Atocha Station, Madrid"
A value for money hotel for those on a budget. Would suit the single traveller more so than it would couples. Conventiently located near to Atocha station (10 minutes) and metro station (5 minutes). It is near to a good selection of cafe bars, restaurants and one late bar just opposite. City centre is a couple of metro stops away or a 20 minute walk. "Fabulous location close to everything"
This hotel had a fabulous location in the centre of Madrid, close to Atocha train station, museums (right next door to Reina Sofia), and the metro. Large room, private bathroom, and a lift - a plus for a disabled guest! Several excellent bars and coffee shops within a 5-minute walk from the front door. "Close to a lot of museums and Atocha train station"

"feels like home"
The room was clean and appropriate. The owner was friendly and helpful. I love the fact that this hostel provides kitchen, so I could save some money for meals. The minus side is it is a bit far from metro station (Fontana), around 10 mins walk. it was even worse because I carried trolley bags and it was just not possible to stroll the bag as it was […] very noisy and it was midnight. "nice location , small rooms"
Our stay at Buelta was ok...it was close to all main museums, shopping and fun areas. It is really close to the train station and a huge park. Generally it is very clean and service is good, but the rooms are really small and furniture is very old. Pillows are horrible..very uncomfortable.

Hotelli sijaitsi oikein hyvällä paikalla liikkumisen kannalta tosin hieman meluisalla alueella.Metro ja juna asemat olivat aivan nurkan takana ja metrolla pääsi tosi sujuvasti aivan ydin keskustaan muutamassa minuutissa.Edulliseksi majapaikaksi todella hyvä!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is very close to the Prado and right next to the Reina Sophia Museum, which is quite enjoyable. The room had two beds, a toilet and a shower; that is pretty much it. There was no glass in the bathroom, and no alarm clock, which can be problematic. Otherwise, there was a small balcony, which was really nice. However, the boulevard was very […] loud. The noise was not so disturbing with closed windows, but as it was quite warm the whole time I was there, I would rather have kept the windows open. However, they were renovating the building and the rooms during my stay, and according to what I saw, the quality of the rooms might improve drastically due to those renovations.
