"Badly in need of reno"
The staff was nice and the room was clean but really old and rundown. The bathroom sink was continually backing up. The elevator was ancient. There was some renovating going on, but as far as we could tell there hasn't been any renovations on the upper floors. The location is good. The hotel needs a complete and total reno, if not it's probably time […] to close it down. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Definition if this hotel should be Ghetto. The location is excellent, but this hotel need an upgrade in every way. The elevator is a scary experience and the bathroom is just discusting.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Old but clean."
Hotel is older, but clean. Retro and funky in a way. Staff is friendly. Overall positive experience.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is old and a bit run down. Lots of traffic noise. Very basic rooms, no coffee in them and they advertised kitchenette but was only microwave and small fridge. The bed was very comfortable. The location is right in the middle of high end shopping area, so it was very pricey to buy anything. We ended up moving to another hotel in east waikiki, […] for a few dollars more got a better hotel in a better location. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Old but authentic, inexpensive yet in a great location. The longer I stayed the more I enjoyed it.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Place smell like a strong chemical"
Don't come here. They are in the middle of "remodeling" lol. The hotel is in a great location next to Hard Rock Cafe but that's it. They gave us real keys to get in to a gate and they shut off the elevator n close the gate after 10pm. Everything about it was nastyGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Older hotel in need of repair."
The staff were pleasant and helpful. We were thankful to be allowed to check in early. The hotel itself is rather run down, tiles coming up in bathroom, in need of paint. The bed was comfortable, however, and it was clean. The location is good, just a short walk to the beach and many shops and restaurants nearby.Genuine Expedia guest review
"I really disappointed, but employee are nice."
I very disappointed, the worst hotel I ever stayed in, the wall need painting the bathroom door are rusty, the whole room need remodel and carpet need replace, its not worth $50.oo a day I wont never stay in that hotel again unless its all remodel.. but yet the personnel ( employee) house keeping are nice.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great location, but this place needs a lot of work"
Drove by it a couple time trying to find it, The sign is small and it's upstairs of a strip mall (not one of the nice ones). The location for the hotel is good, short walk to beach and major shopping area. The condition of the hotel needs a lot of improvement, obvious water damage in the halls and my entire floor smelled bad. The "king" bed we had in […] the room was to twin beds pushed together that kept sliding apart. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"I would never stay here"
We got into Hawaii about 12:00am and could not wait to get to the Hotel as the bed was calling my name. We got to the Polynesian Plaza and had to search for the entrance which was a locked door on the side of a strip mall. We were let in by what looked as if it were someone that lived on the streets. We walked through a narrow hall way to the back of […] a Chinese restaurant and checked in. We were given keys to our room and a key to the elevator. We proceeded to the elevator which was right out of the 1950's and put the key in to turn it on. We went up the elevator to our room. I opened the door and tried to turn on the light and it did not work. I was actually scared at this point as it was so run down I thought that someone may actually be in there. My husband proceeded in and found a light...We should have left it off. WOW gross carpet, bathroom has not been updated since 1950 and the balcony doors were sealed shut. I didn't even way to sit on the bed not sleep in it for that matter. I got on the phone right away with Expedia to find another place. We did and got a full refund from Expedia for this place. I ask that Expedia take this place off of their website. It is awful and felt unsafe. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"People make the difference"
The Plaza is under renovation so it is what it is. Great location (very difficult to find since it is tucked in with all the store fronts, roughly 4 doors to the west of Hard Rock) But the people here make the Plaza magic, the entire staff was awesome with super thank yous to Ron and Victoria at the desk for making my vacation infinitely better. and […] a nod to the awesome folks at Eggs n Things who graciously shared their smoking lounge with me. "Close to facilities"
Booked and paid for 2 kingsize beds. On the day arrived was given 2 single bed instead. Asked to pay extra to get an upgrade to double beds. I was told that Expedia does not know that Polynesian PLaza does not have double or king size bed. Unhappy customers. How can I get my extra money back from already paid 2 king beds.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Close to Waikiki"
Checked in for Penthouse unit (1 bedroom), but very disappointed with the condition of the room: lock at sliding door to balcony is not working; vertical blind came apart as soon as we try to draw the curtain; TVs look like an ancient 10 y.o. model; stained carpet. Except roomy unit, furniture is out-of-date. Everything looks like they had not been […] replaced for 10 years. Location is great, close to where all the actions are. Parking is off site. I feel good in hotel. Location is very convenience. Close to waikiki beach and shopping center. There is kitchen In room for cooking. Shower water is good. I had to parking in other parking lot and par $20 per day.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Hotel Perfect for budget travel"
The Polynesian Plaza was a perfect hotel for a long weekend in Honolulu. The hotel does need a bit of a face lift but its in the center if Waikiki and walking distance to everything. The rooms facing the beach are quiet but the best part of the hotel is the bed mattresses. OMG they are so comfortable I have stayed in 5 star hotels and nothing matched […] these mattresses. I slept like a baby. Rumor has it the hotel is getting a major redo which will make it amazing place to stay. The staff are super friendly and helpful Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"just one night"
I had a 24 hour layover in waikiki and needed a place. This place was right in the heart of town, close to everything and easy to find. It is a bit out of date on the amenities, but it was clean and cheap so it did just fineGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Near Hard Rock Cafe, and Fort DeRussy Park"
West end of Waikiki with close access to the beach on that side. Narrow entrance surrounded by boutiques and the Hard Rock Cafe near by. If driving, they have parking at $20 a day in nearby parking building. But building is shut down between wee hours of morning. Also, if checking out on final day, you will have to return parking permit. Just ask parking […] attendent to let you return parking pass to hotel office first before you leave parking building because there is no legal parking available in front of the hotel. There is limited coin parking down the street...but good luck finding it available. If lodging price is right, it is a decent hotel. Quieter on the back side of hotel with rooms over looking pool, but nice view of the main drag that goes one-way along Waikiki Beach. The pool area is enclosed, and peaceful. "Cheap Hotel, Great Location, Covers Basic Needs"
Great location in the heart of Waikiki. Close to tons of shops/restaurants & minutes from a gorgeous beach. Got a good price as part of an Expedia package. Hotel itself was good for the basic necessities...working a/c, clean place to sleep, etc. The building is quite old and far from fancy, but honestly if you're in Hawaii you shouldn't be spending […] a ton of time in your hotel. "Inexpensive is not better"
The motel is so very old. I had torn furniture. Uneven bed. Towels smelled as if they used recycled water and did it fully rinse out the soap and other smells. Carpet was vacuumed but carpet itself was very old and discolored. Blinds were broken and did not fully close. They had no string guides at the bottom. I'm glad this motel is going to be out […] of commission in February when it is slated for major refurbishing. Also, situated in a very loud corner. The music from nearby establishment kept me up. Everything in that room was filthy. Upholstery, walls, shower...I don't know how long ago this hotel started but it looked like everything was at least 20years old and had never been cleaned or updated. Cleaning service never replaced our soap or tissue when we ran out. I know this is a cheap hotel, but this was ridiculous.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A roomy hotel right on Kalakaua in Waikiki!"
The hotel was a blast from the past but kept very clean and run by very good personel. There were plenty of chairs and tables. It included microwave, stove, refridgerator and the dishes you need. (The maids washed the dishes every day). A close walk to lots of activities and the beach.Genuine Expedia guest review
You could not pay us to stay at this hotel. The reviewer that asked if it was a Hostel was right on. The overwhelming smell of cleaning products was present once I stepped into the room. The hotel is a tear down, inside and out. Parking is 2 blocks away and that wasn't disclosed to us before we reserved the room. We left without staying, no way were […] we laying on those beds or walking on that carpet. The shower was creepy. Check my other reviews and you can see I am very fair and mostly positive, but this place was scary. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"HORRIBLE, better to pay more for comfort"
We had switched to this room thinking that it was an improvement from the Castle Pacific Marina, only to find out that even though we wanted a Queen side bed, ALL the rooms only have 2 twin beds ,no queen size beds. Unless you are two single guys, or girls, this is not a romantic way to speak a week in Hawaii. We felt lied too that they did not give […] us the Queen that we requested, we would NOT have booked this room otherwise. The Beds were a HARD as rock, the shower (no bath) was disgusting. Everything was old and worn out. The other problem was it was difficult to load, unload luggage as there was no front that you can drop off. Moreover, you had to pay for parking ($20 a day) in a garage that was across the street. We paid $89 a night, plus $20 each day for parking, not worth the $109, would have paid the extra 50 a night for comfort and ease of access. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Our needs were all in walking distance."
Although there was a major problem with the toilet overflowing; the attendance of maintenance and housekeeping was immediate. Appreciated it so much! "A REAL HOLE IN THE WALL"
I could't find the hotel. Had to park then walk the street until I saw the entrance- just a doorway in between all the shops. Everything was genuine antique-about 40-50 years old (except the TV and microwave). The drain in the bathroom was super slow. No parking. BUT where else can you find a hotel room in the middle of Waikiki one block from the ocean […] for under $100/night? Low budget guests will like the kitchenette W/ fridge, micro, stove, and sink. "Nice location, but.."
My primary disappointment with this hotel is the fact that I had to pay an additional $20 a night to park my car. Over 4 nights, this was certainly not an expense I had anticipated. Also, in order to check-in, I was told to 'park in the alley' where there is naught but no parking zones, so I risked getting towed at check-in and check-out. I stayed a few days in this hotel for a conference. I would not recommend this hotel for a family vacation especially if you have young children. "Below par service, old property--needs upgrade"
I was upset to find that I booked a single room with a King sized bed and they gave me one with two twin beds. This was something I was looking forward to but I was very disappointed. Friendly hotel staff. Great location. Really noisey at night but I was able to sleep through it. Did not see any bugs in the room thank god.
