"Not bad for the price"
It was like stepping back in time but I like the 70's so it was just fine. Short walk to the beach, fantastic reataurants and bars. Parking was reasonableGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Are you kidding me."
No parking on site. When you walk into the dingy entrance you can smell the foul odors of cigarettes & age of the area. If you are over 6' tall this is not for you. The beds are small as well as the bathroom. The shower is not clean and the window shades need to be changed. I would never stay here again. "Cancelled Reservation after a couple hours"
This is by far one of the worst hotels we have seen. Aside from being in a very questionable area with shady characters, there is no onsite parking. We had to pay $20 for a parking permit in a lot that was 3 blocks away. No phone or alarm clock in the room. The hotel and everything inside was ancient and in no way sanitary. "THE MOST MISREPRESENTED PLACE SEE"
I WILL NEVER TALK BAD ABOUT PEOPLE OR THINGS. BUT IT WILL BE A CRIME IF I DIDNT TELL YOU TO NEVER THINK OF GOING TO THIS PLAZA. "Parking was the only thing that was negative"
I thought the hotel was great. Room was clean. It had everything that we asked for. We didn't really walk around Waikiki so not sure what kind of stores were close by or beaches. We had to cut our stay there short because of the parking. We paid for 24hr. parking not knowing that there were no in and out privileges so unfortunately for us we lost our […] stall and waisted our money. There were parking passes available but it was limited and it's a first come first serve basis. So if you are planning to stay here then ask, first, about their parking passes or else you would be going crazy looking for parking. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Waianae Wahine in Town for 3 Days"
Talk about shabby chic. Good place for locals to relax after a long day. Although old, everything was clean and comfy. It was extremely hard to find the place to begin with... this could be fixed by a larger sign and instructions in the advertisement. "Cheap hotel in an excellent location."
My teen-aged son and I arrived late (midnight PDT) so I booked a hotel in Honolulu for our first night before heading out for a week in Kailua. As reviews I had read stated, the hotel entrance was indeed not easy to find although my GPS lead us straight to the front door. Unfortunately, unloading our bags was difficult since there was no street parking […] in front.. In fact, I got a $35 parking ticket despite the desk clerk's insistence that I would not get one. Moving along, the hotel is old but very cool since the entrance is on a busy main street with a long narrow corridor leading to an enclosed courtyard and pool with lush jungle vegetation. Rooms are large, a little threadbare but with a fridge and a nice bathroom with fresh towels and amenities. A big surprise in the morning was discovering the excellent location, close to breakfast cafes and only a 5 minute walk to the beach. At $79, the price was unbeatable and a fraction of the larger fancier hotels close by. I would stay again in the same situation. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Badly in need of reno"
The staff was nice and the room was clean but really old and rundown. The bathroom sink was continually backing up. The elevator was ancient. The hotel needs a complete and total reno, if not it's probably time […] to close it down. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Nice older hotel near beach and downtown Waikiki. The place shows it's wear but still has character. I undrstand they are going to do a remodel. I hope they maintain that old world feel. The staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Run down old place."
This place looks pretty run down. I would suggest looking for another place even if you have to pay a little more. I was handed a metal key (no key card here) and a second metal key I was told was for the security gate and elevator. Then I was warned that I would be charged $60.00 if I lost the keys. The view also was not good. The pool area reminded […] me of some dingy motel. I was also made to wait a half hour in the lobby when they told me they never received my reservation. As I was waiting, I heard the guy telling another customer who booked on another online service that he also never received their reservation. Luckily Expedia was able to Fax them my reservation and luckily they still had a room open when I showed up. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Don't come here. They are in the middle of "remodeling" lol. The hotel is in a great location next to Hard Rock Cafe but that's it. They gave us real keys to get in to a gate and they shut off the elevator n close the gate after 10pm. Everything about it was nastyGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Older hotel in need of repair."
The staff were pleasant and helpful. We were thankful to be allowed to check in early. The hotel itself is rather run down, tiles coming up in bathroom, in need of paint. Drove by it a couple time trying to find it, The sign is small and it's upstairs of a strip mall (not one of the nice ones). "I would never stay here"
We got into Hawaii about 12:00am and could not wait to get to the Hotel as the bed was calling my name. We got to the Polynesian Plaza and had to search for the entrance which was a locked door on the side of a strip mall. We were let in by what looked as if it were someone that lived on the streets. We walked through a narrow hall way to the back of […] a Chinese restaurant and checked in. We were given keys to our room and a key to the elevator. We proceeded to the elevator which was right out of the 1950's and put the key in to turn it on. We went up the elevator to our room. I opened the door and tried to turn on the light and it did not work. I was actually scared at this point as it was so run down I thought that someone may actually be in there. My husband proceeded in and found a light...We should have left it off. WOW gross carpet, bathroom has not been updated since 1950 and the balcony doors were sealed shut. I didn't even way to sit on the bed not sleep in it for that matter. I got on the phone right away with Expedia to find another place. We did and got a full refund from Expedia for this place. Checked in for Penthouse unit (1 bedroom), but very disappointed with the condition of the room: lock at sliding door to balcony is not working; vertical blind came apart as soon as we try to draw the curtain; TVs look like an ancient 10 y.o. model; stained carpet. "Hotel Perfect for budget travel"
The Polynesian Plaza was a perfect hotel for a long weekend in Honolulu. The hotel does need a bit of a face lift but its in the center if Waikiki and walking distance to everything. The rooms facing the beach are quiet but the best part of the hotel is the bed mattresses. OMG they are so comfortable I have stayed in 5 star hotels and nothing matched […] these mattresses. "Near Hard Rock Cafe, and Fort DeRussy Park"
West end of Waikiki with close access to the beach on that side. Narrow entrance surrounded by boutiques and the Hard Rock Cafe near by. If driving, they have parking at $20 a day in nearby parking building. But building is shut down between wee hours of morning. Also, if checking out on final day, you will have to return parking permit. Just ask parking […] attendent to let you return parking pass to hotel office first before you leave parking building because there is no legal parking available in front of the hotel. There is limited coin parking down the street...but good luck finding it available. If lodging price is right, it is a decent hotel. Great location in the heart of Waikiki. Close to tons of shops/restaurants & minutes from a gorgeous beach. Got a good price as part of an Expedia package.
