"Inexpensive is not better"
The motel is so very old. I had torn furniture. Uneven bed. Towels smelled as if they used recycled water and did it fully rinse out the soap and other smells. Carpet was vacuumed but carpet itself was very old and discolored. Blinds were broken and did not fully close. They had no string guides at the bottom. I'm glad this motel is going to be out […] of commission in February when it is slated for major refurbishing. Also, situated in a very loud corner. The music from nearby establishment kept me up. Everything in that room was filthy. Upholstery, walls, shower...I don't know how long ago this hotel started but it looked like everything was at least 20years old and had never been cleaned or updated. Cleaning service never replaced our soap or tissue when we ran out. I know this is a cheap hotel, but this was ridiculous.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A roomy hotel right on Kalakaua in Waikiki!"
The hotel was a blast from the past but kept very clean and run by very good personel. There were plenty of chairs and tables. It included microwave, stove, refridgerator and the dishes you need. (The maids washed the dishes every day). A close walk to lots of activities and the beach.Genuine Expedia guest review
You could not pay us to stay at this hotel. The reviewer that asked if it was a Hostel was right on. The overwhelming smell of cleaning products was present once I stepped into the room. The hotel is a tear down, inside and out. Parking is 2 blocks away and that wasn't disclosed to us before we reserved the room. We left without staying, no way were […] we laying on those beds or walking on that carpet. The shower was creepy. Check my other reviews and you can see I am very fair and mostly positive, but this place was scary. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"HORRIBLE, better to pay more for comfort"
We had switched to this room thinking that it was an improvement from the Castle Pacific Marina, only to find out that even though we wanted a Queen side bed, ALL the rooms only have 2 twin beds ,no queen size beds. Unless you are two single guys, or girls, this is not a romantic way to speak a week in Hawaii. We felt lied too that they did not give […] us the Queen that we requested, we would NOT have booked this room otherwise. The Beds were a HARD as rock, the shower (no bath) was disgusting. Everything was old and worn out. The other problem was it was difficult to load, unload luggage as there was no front that you can drop off. Moreover, you had to pay for parking ($20 a day) in a garage that was across the street. We paid $89 a night, plus $20 each day for parking, not worth the $109, would have paid the extra 50 a night for comfort and ease of access. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Our needs were all in walking distance."
Although there was a major problem with the toilet overflowing; the attendance of maintenance and housekeeping was immediate. Appreciated it so much! The front desk clerks were friendly and very helpful! Wish the hotel offered free Wi-Fi though and pay TV/cable would have been a sweet accommodation. MAHALO!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A REAL HOLE IN THE WALL"
I could't find the hotel. Had to park then walk the street until I saw the entrance- just a doorway in between all the shops. Everything was genuine antique-about 40-50 years old (except the TV and microwave). The drain in the bathroom was super slow. No parking. BUT where else can you find a hotel room in the middle of Waikiki one block from the ocean […] for under $100/night? Low budget guests will like the kitchenette W/ fridge, micro, stove, and sink. Others will love the many restaurants within ten minutes. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice location, but.."
My primary disappointment with this hotel is the fact that I had to pay an additional $20 a night to park my car. Over 4 nights, this was certainly not an expense I had anticipated. Also, in order to check-in, I was told to 'park in the alley' where there is naught but no parking zones, so I risked getting towed at check-in and check-out. The only […] other complaint I have is that I am over 6 feet tall and the shower heads in this place are inconveniently placed at 5 feet! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Not bad for the price. Close to the beach and you are living right above the Waikiki night life which is why I’m glade I’m used to sleeping with ear plugs.Genuine Expedia guest review
"That's what you get"
I stayed a few days in this hotel for a conference. I would not recommend this hotel for a family vacation especially if you have young children. If you are by yourself (as I did) and want to stay in a cheap hotel, which has not been properly maintain in years, unhelpful (incompetent?) staff, but relatively close to Waikiki beach and the shoopping centers, […] you'll survive this place. "Below par service, old property--needs upgrade"
I was upset to find that I booked a single room with a King sized bed and they gave me one with two twin beds. This was something I was looking forward to but I was very disappointed. Parking was incredibly expensive and very inconvenient. The drain in the shower did not clear fast enough, by the time you were done, the water in the stall was ankle […] deep. Overall, the hotel was old and desperately needed upgrades. I would not recommend staying here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It is a little old, but I've been in a worse hotel then this. I think it was alright. It was good for the price I paid. Not a long walk to the beach at all. I might even stay there again sometime.Genuine Expedia guest review
Old, dirty, not kept up, plugs didn't work, ac leaked,Genuine Expedia guest review
5 minute walk to the beach, really close to restaurants and stores (cheesecake factory, pf changs, international market, footlocker, forever 21 etc). The hotel was old with old furniture, the shower was small, and the bed was two twin beds put together.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great for the Price"
Friendly hotel staff. Great location. Really noisey at night but I was able to sleep through it. Did not see any bugs in the room thank god. However there was a dead huge cockroach outside my parents room. Only used the room to sleep and get dressed. Was not in the room very much.Genuine Expedia guest review

"We will stay at the Poly Plaza again"
This is our second stay at the Poly Plaza. Its location close to Derussy Beach is why we came back the second time. The room was clean the best it could be with the older furniture it has and there was basic extras in the room i.e. hair dryer, iron, small fridge, coffee pot, n tv. We did have to wait 2 1/2 hours after check in time to get our room, […] because the Internet went down, but we just hung out at the pool until we got our key. "Favorite Honolulu Hotel"
I was very impressed with the hotel. It was one of the cleanest hotels I've ever stayed. The only downfall's I found was that there was no phone in the room and parking was almost 2 blocks away but still cost top dollar.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Spacious and comfortable"
I enjoyed my stay at the Polynesian Plaza, overall. I was very impressed with how clean the hotel was! The room was much more comfortable than the majority of others I have stayed. The small kitchen area was equipped with everything we needed to be able to dine in and save some money. The room was affordable as well. I would definitely recommend this […] hotel to anyone coming to Hawaii to visit. I must say that there were a couple of issues I found that keep me from giving the place a 5star review, although I still found that the good far outweighs the bad. The parking was nearly 2 blocks away which proved to be a major inconvenience when it came to loading/unloading our luggage. There aren't any carts or valet service to help with that either. I was also surprised to not find a telephone anywhere in the room.otherwise, I already am planning to stay here again when time and money permit! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

I loved the location but the hotel is a bit older.. They need new appliances and a major renovation period.. Won't stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Needed a place exactly in Honolulu, inexpensive and this place was fine. A place to sleep and store your stuff. Nothing fancy, pool was ok, but I would stay there again. You get what you pay for in Waikiki, and the Polynesian Plaza was pretty gross. Bad smell in the lobby, very noisy rooms on the streetside, strange hair on the bathroom floor. The location was central on the Kalakalua Strip, and if you are into thraveling 5000 miles so you can shop at Coach and eat at the Cheesecake facotory, this could be important […] to you. "Not An Hawaiian Paradise...."
HORRIBLE!!!!!!!! No drive way/parking. No bell carts, no bell personnel. The parking is $20/day 3-5 blocks away. Check in is at the pool. Upon entering there is an odor. Patches on the wall. Elevator is very outdated & has damage on the interior. Such as chipped paint & damage to the interior walls. I was told my room would have a double bed & a sofa […] sleeper instead two twin beds were pushed together with no headboard & no bedskirt. The sofa bed turned out to be a rollaway bed. The entire room smelled of lemon zest &I could not breath the smell was so strong. I had to open the balcony door as the smell seemed to be comingfrom the air conditioner. The shades did not open properly. The kitchenette was totally outdated & the wood was painted white & damaged. The stove top burners were lined in foil. The bathroom sink had visable damage. The bathroom as so small that the door would hit you if you sat on the toilet & someone opened the door. Hotel.com staff not helpful with concerns. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It's difficult to see from the street for one. No parking and they offered no suggestions for where to park. There was a sign to pardon the construction to better serve us!?!? "Motel at Best - dirty and poor maintenance"
Upon arrival, I had to check in at the office next to the pool and the pool area surrounded by rundown apartments overlooking. Upon a late arrival, I got to the room and discovered the dirty bedding from the previous customer wadded up on the table by the dresser. When I requested the room to be cleaned, I was told they had no help at this hour, they […] would provide me with linens and I could change the bed myself. I told them that was unacceptable. The desk clerk called his manager and handed me "his personal cell phone" to talk with the manager. I told the manager it was her responsibility to take care of this and she told me that was not an option tonight. Finally, the desk clerk, did bring new linens and change the bed for me. There were no curtains; instead there were vertical blinds which were missing multiple slats, thus, no privacy at night. There are no phones in the room so bring your own alarm clock!!! Location is great and is situated across from Luxury Row and a short walk to the beach and shopping. The rooms are run down and not maintained, but I was told it is being renovated. Great location and we saved money with the kitchenette. Bathroom was very nasty, everything was old and rundown, I would not stay here again. The staff were friendly and helpful. "Cheap, clean but run down"
The first impression is how run down the hotel is. They still use keys for the rooms. The carpet is old and ripped. The hotel is located on a main street across from luxury row. It is noisy even though our room is suppose to be one of the quietest one. There is a kitchen but no paper towels or dish soap is provided.
