"Nice hotel next to excel centre"
What a find, really close to the DLR which makes it really easy to get into and around the rest of London. Nice, clean and I like the way reception didn't shout out my room number as I was a woman travelling alone. Rooms are comfy and plenty of sockets tooGenuine Expedia guest review
Hotel was fine, staff were fine. Problem - the room advertised in the photograph was bigger that the room we stayed in. Others beware!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Friendly helpful staff"
We were pleased with our clean comfy room and the helpful staff. Breakfast was OK but a few more 'healthy' items would have been appreciated. The hotel was easily reached on the DLR, but I wouldn't have wandered far on foot from the hotel at night.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Handy for 02."
Excellent value for money. DLR stops just outside the door. Ideal location for 02. Good breakfast. Room small but clean & comfortable. Staff helpful & friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great Hotel for the price"
Went to the O2- this is a perfect place to stay. Cheap, clean and good breakfast thrown in.Genuine Expedia guest review
"great location, close to Station"
Hotel staff were extremely helpful & kind, great breakfast and great Dining options. Train station was right across the road with a train trip into London within 15-20 minutes, trains leave every 2-3 minutes. Hire car options 5 minutes down the road. Mini market a 2 minute walk around the corner.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Excellent hotel, DLR station across the road"
Excellent stay at this hotel, staff always cheerful, service excellentGenuine Expedia guest review
"Review of Ibis Excel Hotel"
A pleasant enough stay, though it was not easy to find a convenient place to have an evening meal especially as the Excel Centre was not being used.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Nice, convenient hotel, with good breakfast."
It was good here - nice polite staff, nice looking room, comfortable bed, good shower. I would say the bathroom looks basic and there was discolouration of the bottom of the shower, but all in all I enjoyed the stay. Breakfast was really good too.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Good location to Excel, very basic hotel"
If you are looking for a hotel close to Excel, this is very convenient. The rooms are clean enough. Very basic. More like student accommodation. But very comfortable for a short stay. Good parking. And good breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

very nice modern hotel close to the docklands light railway rooms were very clean and comfortable very quite and a good location breakfast was very good with plenty of choice of food and a nice breakfast room the staff were very helpful and very smart in apperance it was very good value for money as the location is very good for central london and the […] city airport we would stay their again and recomend this hotel to any of our friends or any one who was looking to book a hotel in london Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
The room was fine - just what I expected for the cost. The only issue was the lack of air-conditioning in the room, which meant having to leave the window open all the time and listening to the noise of the street and construction site across the road. Definitely required earplugs. However, easy access to the DLR and travel into the city.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Handy for ExCel Arena and City Airport"
We had an early flight from London City airport, and this hotel seemed just the ticket - easy enough journey on the DLR (quick change at Canning Town) and a good price for a twin room. The hotel is literally across the road from the Custom House DLR station. The room was very small, but adequate for one night. The bathroom, as others have noted, is […] a little disconcerting, being a "plastic pod" in one corner of the room; I should clarify that the "pod" is properly built in, to look like a proper separate room from the outside. The pod is quite small once inside (and you need to step up from the room) and the shower space is especially limited. The room itself was very clean, and had a desk, flat-screen TV and tea/coffee-making facilities. There was a hair-dryer in the bathroom, with standard hand soap/shower gel/shampoo dispensers. We did have a room with air-conditioning, but I must say the unit itself was really not very powerful - it wasn't immediately obvious that it was on when it was... Breakfast itself was fine, although the member of staff supposed to be welcoming guests was too busy to notice a small queue forming at the entrance. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"great base to visit london"
stayed at this hotel on the 12th august for 3 nights with my 14 yr old son and its in an easy location for the dlr railway into London. room was basic but clean, breakfast there was a good choice to set you up for the day. bar menu was very limited but tasty. would stay againGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great hotel in general"
The hotel was bright and cheerful just like the staff. Very welcoming and always happy to help. Food good and plenty of it.Genuine Expedia guest review
"not a styles hotel"
got room 505 only a sky light for a window shower tiny & weak spray. Had very nice bar but closed early and everyone had to move to other room. Why this hotel is ranked superior to nearby Ibis is strange. We paid 80 pounds per night . The nearby Ibis cost 63 and was a much nicer hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Ideal for getting in and out of London City Airpor"
Good location for flying in and out of London City Airport in the Docklands area. Close to Docklands Light Rail station which connect to the London Underground.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Briilliantly good value for visiting London."
The hotel is a little tired and frayed around the edges. That is my only criticism - it is cheap and brilliantly situated for visiting London. There is well priced parking on site. There is efficient air-con. The Docklands Light Railway station is yards away. We slept and had breakfast here during a three day trip to London and it did the job just fine. […] The buffet breakfast is as you would expect and sets you up for the day. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
My Grandson stayed there prior to going to a football game. The Hotel was everything we expected. I only marked it down because of the size of bathroom. I thought this hotel was very good rooms are neat and tidy toilet area smallish but suited myself and son. staff at desk were first class especially "Gemma" small problem with lots of foreign children on tours in hotel and they were a wee bit noisy being unsupervised at bed time, but I spoke to hotel staff and it was cleared up in no time at all, I […] would not hesitate to return to this hotel for another stay. "A deeply unpleasant stay"
In arrival I was told there were no double rooms left with aircon. Agreed to a single room to find the aircon didn't work anyway! The area means plenty of police sirens in the evening to keep you awake, particularly as you need the window open to keep cool which didn't work in the recent heat wave. "Perfect, but sort out the breakfast area now ..."
Couldn't be more convenient for the DLR or Excel. Staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Rooms are great for a short stay. As previous reviews have said the shower is "compact" but fine for us. Need to re-organize the breakfast system though - too chaotic, no coffee cups or juice glasses, only hot bowls fresh from the dishwasher for cereal/fruit. […] Croissant next to the hot server but the jam is next to the juice machine. Only blot on an otherwise perfect hotel for a London break, Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"It was 'OK'......"
Not a bad hotel. I was studyng for an exam so not ideal being almost under the flight path in to London City! The shower was very small, and food in the bar was appallling. Overall however my stay was OK and would probably stay again IF needed to be in that area. Perhaps a little expensive for what you get too.....Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ideal for the O2"
Extremely well priced and very clean. A little bit like student accommodation, but perfectly comfortable for the odd few nights. Not a lot around the hotel itself except the odd shop/bar (wait a couple of years). Ideally located for the O2 though being directly across the road from Custom House station, and about a 15 minute ride away on the DLR or […] the Emirates Air Line. Will definitely use again. "Decent value hotel"
Clean and comfortable in a basic way, with a decent shower and friendly staff. My only gripe was waiting 5 minutes for a clean fork at breakfast!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
clean friendly hotel, very close to train station. went to wembly so needed transport to be good, which it was very close, over the road to be exact.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Clean but plastic!!"
Clean but the plastic "pod" bathroom was awful, it was like being on a ship! I just about managed to fit in the shower but was very claustrophobic! But the worst bit was breakfast time - just a free for all! I was a business traveller on my own and was expecting to be shown to my table for breakfast as I have in all other hotels I have stayed, including […] Premier Inns, but instead had to queue with my tray whilst people were pushing in, dropping food on the floor etc. Couldn't find the cutlery and to be honest I had enough by then so just had some toast which was cold by the time I did manage to find somewhere to sit down and made do with an orange juice because it was no good trying to get up and grab something else because your table would be taken. You had to grab everything you could on your tray first time round! Interesting way of running things! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Backpackers, hostel type hotel"
I will say that the location of this hotel is great if you are visiting Excel London. Other than that the hotel is basic and really suited for backpackers or people on a very tight budget. Rooms are tiny, and bathrooms are like hospital bathrooms. Breakfast was good. But the chase you out of the breakfast room at 9:30am. Definitely not worth the high […] price they charge for a London hotel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Basic but comfortable"
The room has been stripped back to the bare minimum, but it is clean. The TV is fixed in a high position meaning you can only really watch it standing up! and the bathroom is on the bijou side! But bed is comfy and there was plenty of parking (an extra £10).Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient for City Airport"
Incredibly had no spare duvets anywhere in the hotel! Staff however were very pleasant and did their best even though they were unable to satisfy our request.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Ideal for convenience and if on a budget"
Small, compact and clean, providing everything you need for a short stay. Close to the o2 and directly opposite the dlr line. Hot and cold buffet breakfast was delicious. Not sure I would like to stay longer than a few days due to the size of the room but it provides everything you need on a budget. Well designed room and comfortable beds. ""It does what it says on the can!""
Spotlessly clean - housekeeping are to be applauded. The breakfast was filling (would personally prefer more selection on cheese, cold cuts & fruit) and replenished constantly - also really nice to get an Irish Independent to read! Just 2 minor points: it was very hard to see tv screen, as no matter where I sat there was a shine on the screen, with […] both lights on or off & blind open or closed. The other thing is the soap dispensers in the bathroom need a lot of power to get soap out, which may prove difficult for anyone with arthritis or a disability. Noise levels may prove too much for some, if staying in front rooms of the hotel as overlooking both the road & DLR - also low flying planes. However, transport is of no problem (DLR, bus & London City Airport are literally on your doorstep, as is Excel Exhibition Centre. I would recommend this hotel for business, rather than leisure. "Good cheap hotel for short stays"
This hotel is a good one for short stays, situated near the eXcel and the DLR line is right outside. The hotel has a couple of takeaways and shops nearby if you dont want to pay the prices in the restaurant or bar attached (quite high). The free breakfast was surprisingly good, with full english, cereals, breads, coissants/pain au chocolaits and yogurts […] etc. Other than that i didnt use any other services so i cant comment on them. The room was clean although it did have a bit of a cheap feel and looked like it had been recently redecorated poorly. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"All in all - Fine"
Check in and check out were very simple and straightforward. Room was perfectly ok. Exactly what I was expecting to find given the amount I paid. It was clean and given the recent upgrade all seemed new and worked fine. Breakfast was a little chaotic but that was probably due to a lot of the guests (like me) trying to eat at the same time to make it […] to the exam in the Excel centre across the road. Food seemed fine though. In summary - nothing to grumle about. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Poor and over priced"
I am a business traveller and fly fairly often from London City airport. My normal hotel was full so I chose the Ibis Styles hotel based on the pictures. The Ibis photographers must also work for estate agents as the pictures make me think it was a very swish hotel, it is not. The car park is frankly inadequate poorly lit and an additional £10 on top […] of the stay. The reception staff were very polite but put me in a room right at the end of one of the floors so it was a trek to a frankly very very basic room. The bedroom is very small and the bathroom tiny. I ate in the bar and frankly the staff seemed bored and uninterested in serving me. The manager of the bar spent the whole time chatting to the staff rather than working. The bar was tired, generally dirty and really unwelcoming. I will not be staying at this hotel again, my first and last time at the Ibis Styles. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"What a smell!"
I checked in early as I was attending a conference at ExCel directly opposite the hotel (perfect position but lots needs to be done to improve the hotel). When I reached my room I could hear voices inside and when I used my key card to enter a man and lady in suits told me they were in the middle of a room audit and asked me to wait outside as they'd […] be ten minutes! I explained I was in a rush for meetings but they said they'd be quick. When asked, they confirmed that they worked for the hotel and told me (the guest ie. their income) that I'd have to wait which begrudgingly I did as I didn't want to walk the half mile back to reception with my bags (room 503 on top floor). After five minutes they came out but no apology. Not a good start! When I got in the room the first thing that hit me was the smell from the drains which was awful. I opened the loft style window in the roof and then had the stench from the kitchens below hit me as the outlet chimney was almost directly outside the window! Whilst the room was clean, it wasn't of the standard I would expect from an international hotel chain. Eg. A makeshift desk which was a kitchen work surface on poles, creaky floors, ill fitted light switch outside bathroom, shaving light not working, pine wooden bed frames (really?! Are we still in the 80's!). I'd recommend this hotel for its location and proximity to ExCel, but absolutely not for its value for money at £140 per night! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Family or business trips"
Very convenient for access to the DLR and therefore inner London- definitely worth getting an Oyster card! Also direct line to the Westfield Centre at Stratford which is fantastic for shopping trips. The hotel has a very sociable bar / restaurant on site also frequented by local residents. Well kept hotel, clean and hospitable. Most rooms have a safe […] which is also useful.
