"A romantic get away.."
Everything about our stay was perfect except for one issue. The hotel owns all the stores and shops in the area. The food prices and gift prices are are fixed and VERY high. Example: A hamburger sells for $14.00. Other than feeling ripped off in this area our stay was perfect. The beach is a 10 minute walk from the property and is very private and […] scenic. Hotel has super potential, however it is still under construction, !!! Construction workers everywhere, dining room not yet built, pool completed on the day we left. Maybe by summer 2013 it will be ready and very high classGenuine Expedia guest review
Response by Anantara Vacation Club Phuket Mai Khao Dear Cat Thank you for taking the time to write . Iam glad to advise that all facilities were completed in June and we are now full speed ahead! We look forward to seeing you here again soon. Take care Lyndon
We had a two bedroom poolside apartment but had not expected our own private pool. The apartment was very nicely furnished with two en-suite bathrooms, three TVs with DVD players and a well equipped kitchen with washing machine and drier. The grounds are beautifully laid out and the beach is just ten minutes walk through the complex. There are gift […] shops, coffee shops and a bar across the street and a supermarket five minutes drive away. I would recommend renting a car as it is not near to a town. "Not sure if I'd stay again"
I stayed in a 2BR pool villa recently. When I booked on this site, I was not aware/informed that the property was in soft launch stage. Construction was half done. Also, correspondence with the hotel staff suggested we'd be having breakfast at JW Mariott as the restaurant is not built yet. However, the counter staff vehemently denies this despite email […] proof and was arguing with me over semantics. Breakfast was served at Bill Bentley, which is rather horrid if this was truly a 5 star property. Despite being new, light fixtures were not working. The side table was broken. In all, don't stay here until they've sorted themselves out. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Response by Anantara Vacation Club Phuket Mai Khao Dear Alvin Thank you for your comments and I am glad to announce that Anantara Vacation Club is now 100% complete including our restaurant 'Chaam'. Our wood-fired pizza sala 'Crust' is also operational so now there is not need to utilise our neighbours for a dining venue. I do hope you choose to stay with us again as I look forward to offering you an unforgettable dining experience. Thank you Lyndon Ellis General Manager
"High-end location.....remote spot away from crowds"
Anantara offered a very high end stay in Thalang which is about the only quite beach in Phuket. The facilities are top notch, especially with access to the Anantara hotel directly across the street which offered many restaurants and a fabulous beachside pool and patio. It is very remote here though which we found a blessing compared to the rest of Thailand […] which is very busy and very crowded. The Marriot next door also offers many services as well. The only caution we make is that the complex is still under construction so at times it was a bit noisy, but given the beach and pools you won't hardly be in your room anyways. "Fantastisk dejligt sted."
(ATV, elefant ridning, bådtur o.s.v.) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Another Great Stay at Anantara!"
12/17/14 SpringinApril Kuala Lumpur
We had stayed in Anantara Villas two years ago and this time, we stayed at the Anantara Vacation Club under the 'preview' of the property. AVC did not disappoint, maintaining the standards of Anantara. The layout of the reception, open lotus pool very much resembles Anantara Villas, abeit in smaller scale. The one room pool villa is beautiful, hardwood flooring, 'raw wood' table top at the kitchen/dining table, big fridge, cooking stove, microwave, and even with washing machine and dryer. The bedroom layout is very similar to other Anantara properties ie huge king sized bed, daybed, big bath tub, open air bath etc. Living room with big TV (and you can rent their dvds) and huge lounge chairs to relax. At the pool, there is an open sala (lounging bed) and a shower. I liked the bicycles that we can use..we cycled to the Holiday Inn side where there is a freshwater lake besides the open sea. We already know that this place is secluded thus, we are prepared to relax and enjoy the facilities and amenities. We hope to return soon.

The stay at AVC was great! Let me get down directly to good & bad 1. Stayed in 2 bedroom suite: It's not a hotel room , but a high end luxury flat complete with Washer & dryer. There are TVs in every room with a big one ( I think it was 55 incher Sammy in Living room). It was able to play my HDD and we watched amazing Full HD videos after a tiring day of adventure in Phuket. In short, a great luxury suite with all the amenities you would find in a 5 star room. Except of course the mini bar - not sure why that wasn't stocked? When asked they politely asked what I would like to have and they will get it immediately. This was nice, but still couldn't understand why mini bar was not stocked :-) 2. Swimming pool: The pool was amazingly clear. The underwater pictures I took revealed to my amazement that it was not my eyes playing trick but it was indeed very clear. The icing on the cake was the Big screen they setup on the Friday evening and played "Frozen". It was amazing experience able to watch a movie in the pool while sipping a beer! The pool bar guy just does a great job of serving nice food & drinks and his good natured humor. God bless him. 3. Great Property: The beach is near and they provide you the bicycles so that you donot have to walk. Great Spa in the neighbouring Anantara spa The Bad: 1. Location: Mai Khao beach is deserted and there are no water sports activity. If you are looking for some great activity in the resort, you will be disappointed. All the trips that you book will take additional one hour (& additional bhats) since most of the trips start near Patong area. However, if you plan to go to Phag Na for some whitewater rafting OR similian, this is the nearest place (you will still have to travel one hour from any tour operator though). So if you are looking for great nightlife and busting activities, this is not the place for you. 2. Not many activities planned in the resort. I checked the weekly events, and barring some kids painting activities, there is nothing for adults (there is a Pool polo, but that's not a activity, it is just one of the things that you may plan to do while swimming around). Final words: If you plan to spend complete or some part of the vacation in relative peace, just being yourself or bonding with your family, this is a great resort. If you are an activities junkie, head further south.

We were expecting more after reading the reviews. However, it was a mediocre stay all around and a definite notch down versus any 5 star hotel we've stayed at. We felt it was more like a 3.5 to maybeee 4 star experience. The staff were friendly & helpful enough. However, 1) the location is not convenient, 2) the furniture in the rooms felt old and worn out, and 3) breakfast choices were pretty awful. In fact, we tried to eat as little as possible as even McDonalds is a step up. We had stayed at the Renaissance down the street the night before, and in hindsight, would have preferred to stay there the whole trip. We stayed here under the "Preview" offer where we just had to pay the taxes on a very inflated "list price". However, even with this discount, we would have preferred to just pay full price somewhere else as the difference was not very significant.
"Enjoyable family holiday"

We stayed in a 2 bedroom pool villa and we enjoyed the space, cleanliness and modern furnishing. The washing machine and dryer were a bonus as we did some sea sports at coral island. Breakfast spread is quite alright, enough variety but not as extensive as Anantara Villas. Gym is small but well equipped and pool is lovely. Turtle Village is a gift considering the hefty transportation fee just to get to town. Good for getaways if you like privacy. If you are travelling with teens, the sea sports are great. But be prepared to spend at least an hour travelling to your destination and cost of transportation is not cheap.

Checking out tomorrow and I must say this is a great hotel for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. Don't expect anything like Patong beach here. I enjoyed the out of center location for the relaxing environment, nice beach and nobody would disturb you in this area. Just spend a day in Patong or Phuket town by taking the affordable shuttle service and it's enough. The breakfast is good quality with enough variety and specially like the idea of having a kids corner where kiss can take their own breakfast. The Pizza is good too. The facilities and room are very well kept and equipments provided in room are top class, from kitchen to bathroom to living room and finally in bedroom, everything is well prepared. Would recommend to honeymoon couples and family holiday.

Amazing experience at this property! The service was outstanding...very warm and welcoming staff. There is a very nice restaurant onsite as well as restaurants and shops directly adjacent to the property. The rooms are spacious and of outstanding quality. Highly recommended for anyone vacationing in Phuket....especially families.

Bad location. 1000 Baht to Patong. Good service, nicely done up rooms. Nice pizza. But pricey food n drinks overall . Especially the spa. 4000 baht for 60 minutes. Nothing like patong or kata beach. No local shops outside. Only turtle village, which is owned by anantara
"Amazing Family Vacation"

I must say, we travel a ton and service is our #1 pet peeve. Having said this, we received world class attention and were treated like royalty. To make this even better, the staff learned our 2 year old loves dinosaurs and even decorated his bed with them which made him love sleeping in the bed a bonus. What a great and thoughtful staff. The attention to detail was amazing, everyone learned our names and the food was great. I can see why this resort won best vacation ownership resort in Phuket. I highly recommend for anyone with kids or couples. The use of the beach at their sister resort across the street is exactly what was needed to make this trip perfect.

We had a two bedroom suite on the ground floor which included a little plunge pool, which was a great feature we loved, although it was a bit sandy due to being in close proximity to the sand playground so we figured previous tenants would have come straight back from the sand playground to the pool. Everything was top notch in the suite which included all cooking utensils and everything else you could ask for, including wine glasses and a coffee french press. We traveled with a couple celebrating their honeymoon and the resort did up their room with a nice rose petal heart and even dropped off a little celebratory cake for all of us. In fact, because we were delayed in getting to our rooms, they apologized by dropping off a few cans of drinks in a bucket of ice for us, which was a really amazing gesture. Washing machine and dryer were available in the suite as well, which was a nice touch as we didn't have to bring so many clothes with us. Service was gracious and top-notch throughout, and the breakfast buffet was decent, if not spectacular. Occasionally the restaurant offers a 40% discount at lunch time, they call it "Manager's day off" or something like that. When that happens, the food at the restaurant is an amazingly good deal. There isn't a great deal of food options around, although in the late morning and afternoon there are some little stalls that set up shop just outside the resort where you can get fruits and barbecued chicken and other things. Many people will cite JJ's as the best Thai food around. It's okay, but surprisingly the best Thai food we had there was not at JJ's, but at the Bill Bentley Pub in Turtle Village. (who would have thought?!). Turtle Village which is a little open air mall just outside the resort has some of the basic stuff and a little mart where you can buy food to cook and all, but expect prices to be hefty. We had a great stay at Anantara, and we'd love to come back if we could (although prices might not permit)
"Stunning Thai Oasis of Tranquility"

Anantara Vacation Club Mai Khao seems to have it all. It's an ideal place to bring a family, offering a Kid's Club, playground, and separate breakfast buffet and kid's pool area, and every room has a washing machine, kitchen etc. But for my wife and I, it felt like a 2nd Honeymoon destination, nestled in our tranquil private pool villa. Anyone visiting Phuket should consider staying here, with the luxurious and spacious accommodations, proximity to the ocean, and world-class hospitality and service.
