"Very nice hotel with convenient location!"
Only stayed overnight in March, but will go back again if we go back to Bangkok for an extended trip. The location is perfect walking distance to the temples. The hotel itself is very modern with a great rooftop bar overseeing the city and temples at night. The hotel service was friendly and informative, will definitely go back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great food - the Chef there is amazing"
The rooms are very modern and cool, but we really enjoyed the food, especially the breakfast every morning. The location is great - right on the water, but getting to it is a little tricky, it's right in the middle of a shipping arena.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel for ease of seeing history up close"
Food was delicious, location excellent in walking distance to temples and palace. Right on river to watch all the boats go. By. Major issue was the lighting in hotel room! Very inadequate lighting for reading. Truly that was the only negative. Morning breakfast choosing from the menu was tastie, and the dinners were delicious if a little on the pricey […] side. We found local restaurants to eat ate during the day that were very cheap. That balanced out the higher price for the evening meal. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Perfect location for experiencing Bangkok. This boutique hotel is tucked into a hard to find location on the river just across the road from Wat Pho and an easy stroll to the Royal Palace. Taxis and tuk tuks are there in abundance making it easy to get to other areas in the city and the dock for water taxis is just a few hundred meters away. From the […] restaurant deck or the roof top bar, the view of Wat Arun directly across the river is spectacular, especially at night. We couldn't have picked a better place to experience Bangkok. This is a small hotel tucked away down an alley, but from the restaurant, terrace, roof top bar or river facing room the views are amazing....you're right across the river from one of Bangkok's iconic buildings the Wat Arun. This is not a big international hotel with gym and pool etc but it is a classy trendy hotel with character.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"BEST LOCATION IN BANGKOK FOR A TOURIST"
We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. It was the best decision we made - after 24hrs of flight journey, the comfort and welcome we got was perfect. The location is so perfect for visiting all temples in Bangkok (no transportation required). The staffs were so welcoming and helping. Even when we checked in at 3AM, the lady at reception had a smiling […] face. Laundry service was so good too. And about the food - oh my!! the quality and presentation is no less than any 5 star hotel. And not to forget about the overwhelming view of wat arun! We love looking back at all the photos we took! With all the good things, we will ignore about the little imperfections in the bathroom tiles. The hotel is still in-progress of construction. So we believe when its complete, all the flooring and tiles will be perfect. Overall we completely enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend to anyone who is not in a strict budget. "Grand Palace and Wat Po"
Good boutique hotel right by Grand Palace and Wat Po. It's done in a sort of refurbished loft style with bare brickwork and concrete, metal basins and glass walled showers. If you prefer traditional decor then this isn't for you but we loved it. Hotel is down an alley so v quiet and has great river views. Sometimes hard for cab drivers to find. The […] restaurant is popular with locals and westerners but flavours a little too mild - adjusted to accommodate non-Thai palates. Only downside is that the hotel is not really close to the centre of the action. But if you only have one night in Bangkok and want to see the most important sights /sites then it's perfect. "a pretty, cosy and peaceful boutique hotel"
Stayed at Sala Rattanakosin for 3 nights and here's the list of what we liked about this hotel: - Location: it's situated at a quiet part of the Bangkok City, and it's very near to Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun. - View: it has a beautiful view of Wat Arun from across the Chao Phraya River. But it's a pity that the temple was not lit up during […] the nights we stayed at Sala. The rooftop bar is a Good place to chill and to take in the sights of the river. - Beautiful design and decor: I like the architectural feel of this hotel and the modern design. - Breakfast: not the usual kind of buffet breakfast you get at other hotels. The basket of toast they serve every morning is superb and we tried almost all the items from the breakfast menu and they taste great too (: - Room: ours was the smaller room, and Sala being a boutique hotel, the room is really really tiny. I didn't have much space to open up my XL size luggage case -_- we didn't know the room was that tiny or else we woke have upgraded. But overall, the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. - Service: Exceptionally warm and helpful. We had lost one of our mobile phones on the flight to Bangkok on the night we arrived. And Geng, one of the front desk staff was super helpful in helping us contact the airline and airport. Thank you Geng! (: Overall, we recommend Sala Rattanakosin If you are looking for a unique and quiet stay in Bangkok. Thumbs up! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Lovely boutique hotel close to temples"
We had difficulties in finding the hotel as it was not known to our taxi driver. However, once we arrived we were met with very pleasant staff and shown to the hotel's restaurant for a beautiful evening meal. In the morning we indulged in a perfect breakfast which, to my surprise, was included.Genuine Expedia guest review
"We liked this hotel"
The decoration is very strange (remains of demolition kept for decoration) , concrete, bricks, no elevator, staircase in metal. Breakfast on a terrasse outside, facing the river and the Wat Arun, the view was great. But it is not a buffet, and food is quite limited. Staff very helpfull.

Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Cool oasis in Bangkok"
07/15/14 Toni S Palma de Mallorca, Spain
As a first time visitor to the craziness of Bangkok, walking through the doors of the Sala Rattanakosin was a wonderful relief. A river view room make a difference but the ever present view of the Wat Arun, Temple of Dawn, with the busy river life flowing past is seen from both restaurants not to mention the rooftop bar. Great food, great service, great location and a great start to our Asian adventure.
"What a view of the Wat Arun!"
06/27/14 a300zx4pak Washington DC, District of Columbia
Our hotel told us to come here to see a gorgeous sunset of Wat Arun, and boy were they right! The rooftop wasn't crowded at all and we were able to enjoy the sunset in peace. All we got were drinks on the rooftop and left them a nice tip. I had my camera tripod setup and they didn't care. I got some fantastic photos from the rooftop! I can't comment for the food, but I would highly recommend seeing the Wat Arun sunset from here!
"Exquisite view from room"
06/25/14 Juzmin Bangkok, Thailand
I stayed in river view deluxe. The room decor is looking a little normal for me. It can be more comfortable and luxury. The best part of this hotel was exquisite with a view of Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn), one of the most beautiful temple in Bangkok. I found that room was not so clean (dust, mud and foot print) A la carte breakfast served with the splendid view ,as picture i uploaded. Staffs were helpful, but they don't have iphone 5 charger for me to borrow, a bit upset. Compare to what you've got from what you've paid, i think room a bit expensive. Hotel has no fitness nor pool.
"Superb sala rattanakosin"

Stayed in the sala for 3 nights on arrival to bangkok. After a very long journey from manchester, via Doha, to bangkok we arrived by taxi (who could not find the hotel) eventually we found it down a very busy alleyway, the taxi could not get down it so we were dropped at the top, walked down alley between guys with trolleys full of food, it is I between 2 warehouses. Found a strange entrance to the hotel at bottom.....we were sat down in the smallest reception to check in....the lady taxi driver followed us in and arranged with us to be picked up on Saturday lunch time to take us to the airport for our onward journey to koh sumi...we were shown up a spiral staircase to our room, wasn't impressed at first as it was at side of hotel so no view at all, but we had only a standard double room booked. There was a separate toilet, walkin shower quirky sink and huge bed which turned out to be so very comfortable. When we went up to the roof top bar that's when you gasp at "the view" the river full of boats and the marvellous Wat Arun Temple straight across, amazing. We eventually met up with Tony Wrigley the chef of this establishment who I have to say was a grand northern lad. He even made a phone call to a friend in koh sumui to book us a table at The Cliff Restsurant...we had an amazing 2 full days in Bangkok, this hotel is quirky and different in an unusual way, would I recommend it.....hell yeh without a doubt. The food is amazing too.
"Boutique chic in REAL Bangkok"
04/16/14 Georgedoors London, United Kingdom
What a find. This beautiful, slick boutique hotel emerges at the end of an alleyway bustling with real Thai street-life. Stark, cool interiors lead to sleek, designer bedrooms with perhaps one of the world's greatest views - the stunning temple of Wat Arun. Eat breakfast at the water's edge and watch river life float by, watch the sun set at the rooftop bar with a stunning panorama of the city as night-time Bangkok comes to life and then dine on unbelievably fine cuisine at one of the finest restaurants in the city just a floor below. Step outside and explore the market, street noodles, ferry along the river and the places and temples of the city. Do not expect the remote luxury of big five star colonial style hotels that stand isolated from the country you are "visiting". This is an uber chic oasis in the midst of real Bangkok!
"Contemporary hotel by service, food and design"
04/15/14 Sylvie A Paris, France
All the team is kindly to make you spend a nice journey in this simple and nice hotel: black and white is the main decoration, but the view (both sides of the hotel temples, a amazing terrace), the color in the plate (good food! english chef, who make thai/ european food, with fresh products only and his own bakery) and the good beds are making a good colorful result. A place to be absolutely recommanded by us!
"Best place to enjoy old Bangkok"
04/11/14 Arturs80 Riga
Kind of difficult to find by taxi - located on a small side street, so bring printed out map or use GPRS and look out for the sign of the hotel. Rooms are nice and decorated in contemporary style however unpractical - no space at all to put/ hang your stuff. Hotel has no lift so be prepared to climb the stairs which are quite steep. The best asset of this hotel is The Terrace on the roof top which has outstanding views of old Bangkok ant the river. There is a nice bar to enjoy views with a drink. Breakfast is very good and served on the ground floor which also has an outside terrace with the river & Wat Arum view - you can either choose European or Asian breakfast. Both are delicious. Hotel has best location to enjoy old Bangkok's sightseeing and boat trips. You do not need transport everything reachable on foot. Hotel's restaurant is OK to have lunch or dinner however there are lots of better places in Bangkok to enjoy Asian food. Weird thing about the hotel - they charge you 10EUR for the pair of slippers if they cannot find it in your room when doing check-out. Be warned :)
"A view you wont want to close your eyes to"
04/09/14 iwatan Thailand
We stayed there for only one night in July 2013. We would have loved to stay longer. The arrival experience is charming as you pass through a hive of business and industry of the shop houses. Located on the river, close to the Palace and of course Wat Po, you literally wont want to shut your eyes to sleep and miss the view. We got there late so missed dinner, however enjoyed rooftop drinks/cocktails and again we left early before the breakfast service from 7am which is full a la carte and features Thai and western options. The staff were welcoming, the vibe cool. The room is well thought out, nice features, clever shower/toilet area, TV, WIFI, CD/DVD player. The rooftop cocktails are interesting. the view of the skyline, river, Wat and palace cocoon you on both sides. The Sala brand has always done things well in Phuket, Samui and now BKK. Wow what a cool place to stay with the view that will blow you away. Well done Sala Rattanakosin - we will be back and for longer next time.

We have returned to Hotel Rattanakosin after spending Xmas day there, this time we stayed for the night in the Hotel. The staff are very welcoming as always and the room was very nice with an amazing view of the temple. The head chef Tony is so attentive of his guests and always comes up with the most delicious dishes, its always a great delight to try, i fully recommend you stay at the Hotel and experience everything that it has to offer, the dinning is a must. It really has a special feel about the place, the roof top bar is a must overlooking the temple at night with the most spectacular views. It really is special. Well done to all the staff & to Head Chef Tony and his team.
"Most stunning Bangkok river view, this is it!"
03/26/14 petites_people Bangkok
It is about the stunning view of Chaopraya river and "Wat Arun" that this hotel can offer best in Bangkok old city area, the number of rooms available have made this hotel very popular even for Bangkokian. We then decided to spend a memorable New Year night at the hotel. We considered it's worth our payment since we cannot have better view from any hotel in Bangkok, I believe. Do not expect the room quality and service much it's just a small 4 star boutique hotel with less faciities, enjoy the atmosphere and feel the breath of real Bangkok life. Another advantage was the hotel's breakfast was very yummy and quite special, you cannot miss it.
