You couldn't get any closer to the Temples, unless you pitched a tent outside the Royal Palace. This place is modern, is in the coolest warehouse area with little Mom & Pop shops all around, and has a Million dollar view to boot!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Fantastic on all counts! Great view, incredible cuisine, impeccable service and chic furnishings. Stayed 2 different times and each time was delightful, exceeding my expectations, which are high. This is the perfect place to stay if you wish to be steps away from all the main sights of Bangkok. Wat Pho and Grand Palace are steps away and the dock is nearby, too. Only stayed overnight in March, but will go back again if we go back to Bangkok for an extended trip. The location is perfect walking distance to the temples. The hotel itself is very modern with a great rooftop bar overseeing the city and temples at night. The hotel service was friendly and informative, will definitely go back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Food was delicious, location excellent in walking distance to temples and palace. Right on river to watch all the boats go. By. Major issue was the lighting in hotel room! Perfect location for experiencing Bangkok. This boutique hotel is tucked into a hard to find location on the river just across the road from Wat Pho and an easy stroll to the Royal Palace. "BEST LOCATION IN BANGKOK FOR A TOURIST"
We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. It was the best decision we made - after 24hrs of flight journey, the comfort and welcome we got was perfect. The location is so perfect for visiting all temples in Bangkok (no transportation required). The staffs were so welcoming and helping. Even when we checked in at 3AM, the lady at reception had a smiling […] face. Laundry service was so good too. And about the food - oh my!! the quality and presentation is no less than any 5 star hotel. And not to forget about the overwhelming view of wat arun! We love looking back at all the photos we took! With all the good things, we will ignore about the little imperfections in the bathroom tiles. The hotel is still in-progress of construction. So we believe when its complete, all the flooring and tiles will be perfect. Overall we completely enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend to anyone who is not in a strict budget. "Grand Palace and Wat Po"
Good boutique hotel right by Grand Palace and Wat Po. It's done in a sort of refurbished loft style with bare brickwork and concrete, metal basins and glass walled showers. If you prefer traditional decor then this isn't for you but we loved it. Hotel is down an alley so v quiet and has great river views. Sometimes hard for cab drivers to find. The […] restaurant is popular with locals and westerners but flavours a little too mild - adjusted to accommodate non-Thai palates. Only downside is that the hotel is not really close to the centre of the action. But if you only have one night in Bangkok and want to see the most important sights /sites then it's perfect. "a pretty, cosy and peaceful boutique hotel"
Stayed at Sala Rattanakosin for 3 nights and here's the list of what we liked about this hotel: - Location: it's situated at a quiet part of the Bangkok City, and it's very near to Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun. - View: it has a beautiful view of Wat Arun from across the Chao Phraya River. But it's a pity that the temple was not lit up during […] the nights we stayed at Sala. The rooftop bar is a Good place to chill and to take in the sights of the river. - Beautiful design and decor: I like the architectural feel of this hotel and the modern design. - Breakfast: not the usual kind of buffet breakfast you get at other hotels. The basket of toast they serve every morning is superb and we tried almost all the items from the breakfast menu and they taste great too (: - Room: ours was the smaller room, and Sala being a boutique hotel, the room is really really tiny. I didn't have much space to open up my XL size luggage case -_- we didn't know the room was that tiny or else we woke have upgraded. But overall, the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. - Service: Exceptionally warm and helpful. We had lost one of our mobile phones on the flight to Bangkok on the night we arrived. And Geng, one of the front desk staff was super helpful in helping us contact the airline and airport. Thank you Geng! (: Overall, we recommend Sala Rattanakosin If you are looking for a unique and quiet stay in Bangkok. Thumbs up! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

We had difficulties in finding the hotel as it was not known to our taxi driver. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Amazing location; too bad nobody can find this hotel "
12/19/14 Jennifer K
We stayed here for two nights and if you are looking for a view of Bangkok, this hotel cannot be beat. You are steps away from Wat Pho (reclining Buddha) and directly across the river from Wat Arun. There is a swanky roof deck bar that overlooks the river and Wat Arun. They play chill music and serve up Thai tapas and mixed drinks. The rooms are clean and modern and small. Our biggest issue was that no taxi driver can find this place. Our driver from Pattaya could not find it and tried to drop us off a mile away. We took a taxi from the MBK and he dropped us on the other side of Wat Pho. We asked the desk for a taxi to the airport and they had to escort us to the street with our luggage because, yep you guessed it, no taxi could find this place. There are two signs on the main street leading to this place but the alley that contains this hotel looks like nothing you would want to ever walk down by yourself at night. Bangkok is frustrating enough, at times, so we probably would only recommend staying here once. Then again, those views of the temples at night are majestic.
"The perfect location in Bangkok for a short stay"

Very simple, sparse rooms that are still comfortable and chic. The view from the river side of What Arun is amazing. Very close to What Pho, the Grand Palace, and Flower market-all within walking distance. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and helped us when needed. The included breakfast was delicious and filling and the restaurant was great and the roof top bar was excellent for late night drinks. Even if you do not stay here it is worth just having dinner here. Do not be fooled by the approach to the hotel (down an alley with construction) this hotel is a gem and would stay here again.

Stayed 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the service, staff, breakfast, room, decor and the jaw dropping view of the river and Wat Arun from both our room and the restaurant deck. The hotel is across the street from Wat Po and the Grand Palace, and is about a block away from the ferry landing ( only 3 B each way) to Wat Arun. We didn't discover this until later in our trip, but you can take the blue or orange flag commuter ferry (15 B) to the light rail if you want to go to Siam/central or further, rather than getting stuck in traffic in a taxi. The only downside is that the ferries don't run after 10 pm, so if you're out late, you're stuck taking a relatively long taxi ride or tuk tuk back to the hotel. During the day, the ride should cost under 100 B, but after dark we found many (ok ok, all) drivers either refusing to take us, or shutting off the meter (illegal but seems to be a common practice) and trying to negotiate a flat fee of 200-400 B. After 10 pm, you may or may not be able to find a cab which uses the meter. This is strictly a night time issue, as we had no problems during the day, so you might want to just factor the added cost in.

Tucked away on Rattanakosin island, a stone's throw from Grand Palace. Beautiful view of Wat Arun across the river. Great place for a quiet weekend. Clean minimalist type rooms. Delicious food but, a tad pricey.
"Fantastic everything, EXCEPT service."
My husband and I checked in for a total of six days. The room was exceptional with a stunning view of the river and Wat Arun. We took a dinner river cruise up and down the river and I don't think there are better views than what this hotel offers. We also came during the celebration of the King's birthday so there was a lot of festivities and naturally traffic. The hotel was in such a prime location that traffic was not an issue. Food was also fantastic. I recommend the lychee duck curry. With that being said I can not write this review without the not-so-good part about this establishment. I am Thai-American and have spent most of my life living abroad. There seems to be an unspoken double standard for Thai versus non-Thai guests in this hotel. 1) For example my husband and I were seated for dinner and we were left to wait for over 10 minutes. Then another couple were seated at the next table and were -immediately- served water, free of charge. My husband noticed this and motioned the waiter over and politely asked for water as we were parched. The wait staff quietly returned with a bottle of water without indicating to us that it was a $10 bottle, which was a bit pricy but the point was that we sat first and was served water after; coincidence that the other couple was non-Thai/Europeans? 2) I have decided to write this review because of the following incident. My husband had to fly out two days before me for work, so I have some alone time at the hotel. I went to the roof top bar and ordered a drink, noticing that I was alone, the bartender asked where my friends were. I thought this was a strange question but told him anyway that I was by myself. I went to the bar to close out my check and motioned for a pen. Instead of the check, the bartender gave me a blank piece of paper and pen and told me to write my phone number down and that he and the other staff members finished work at 1am and that I could go out with them that night. I politely declined with a smile (I believe the Thai custom of expressing embarrassment) and told him honestly that I did not have a working phone number here in Thailand. And to my surprise he retorted back that he saw me on my phone earlier. I tried to explain that I was on the hotel wifi network and he quickly figured out that I was staying here. He then asked where I lived and out of politeness I answered him and again he asked if I was able to connect him with some work abroad. The entire conversation seems friendly enough however I do not think this type of banter between staff members and guests would have occurred if I weren't alone or Thai. It seemed a bit too "friendly" and presumptuous. I did not give any indication that I wanted to go out nor was I looking for extra company; was it not okay that I was alone and spent some time by myself? An accidental motion for a pen meant that I wanted to give the bartender my phone number? Doesn't seem right to me. If you and your partner are non-Thai in this establishment I think none of the previous issues would occur. Bottom line is that the staff members here could use extra manner training and maybe not discriminate against other Thai guests who also want to enjoy the beautiful city and fabulous hotel.

We came here for dinner as guests of business associates. As this was our first trip to Bangkok, we were very impressed with the views and location. The food is a great fusion of Thai and western flavours and was very tasty. I would certainly recommend this restaurant to visitors to Bangkok. The hotel also looked very nice
"Smooth end to our trip"
After 2 weeks in varied accomodation throughout Thailand, arriving here on the final night was bliss. From the welcome drink on arrival right through to our bags taken to our taxi, service was slick and smooth! Roof top bar had great cocktails and BBQ snacks on the Saturday evening and clearly a popular spot for tourists and locals who enjoy a good cocktail bar. Turn down service with a recommendation and weather forecast for the next day was a lovely treat. The room itself had everything you could want and the bed and bedsheets were heaven! Would have loved to have stayed longer and definitely didn't want to get out of bed! Don't let the initial impression put you off, it's well worth the room rates! Hope they make it to London one day!

Great location right on the river and easy walking distance to Wat Pho and the Palace. Breakfast on the deck overlooking the river was amazing, and there's a cool rooftop bar overlooking the river and city beyond. Probably some of the best service we've ever had at any hotel. Comfy, trendy air-con rooms. Access is via a typical Bangkok laneway but don't let first impressions put you off. Hidden back there is a total gem of a hotel.
"Beware about scam from the hotel receptionist"
10/19/14 Molly M London, United Kingdom
On our last day at SalaRatanakosin. I packed a hotel slipper with me with intention to used it at home, presumably an in-room slipper is giveaway, because you can’t re-use slippers worn by other guests, per normal hotel policies. Unaware that they have extra cost, the female receptionist (on duty 12th Oct 2014; around 4.15pm) told us, we have to pay for the slipper. I have no problem with the fuss over a pair of slipper, but it was interesting to found she firstly said ‘the price of slippers is not shown on our computer’. Out of curiousness, I asked what the hotel does with a used slipper. She explained, we washed them, re-used them! I told her I’ll pay for the slipper. Then she looked at some details in a computer and said it cost 265Baht which we paid. At this stage, I went back to a room just to see the minibar price list. I found out that slippersare listed as only 150Baht. Obviously we have no problem with the cost, but it was quite a shock to found out she tried to make an extra income for herself. She did apologized when we challenged about her intention. Considering the cost of room we pay for Wat Po view at $180 plus extra for a late check out between 2.00pm-5.00pm at 2,000 Baht, to us is not acceptable that we have to deal with a scam at the Receptionist area. Unfortunately, we have to leave to the airport; hence we can’t take the matter further to a hotel manager. Apart from the above problem, there is also an unusual smell we reported it to the hotel. Not sure where the smell came from but suspected it from the air-conditioning. The hotel staff only came in to spray a room which obviously didn’t shove the problem. The location of a hotel is very unusual. From the back, you can see a beauty temple across the river. Interestingly the street to a hotel is too narrow. No car can come through, you have to carry your suitcases along the narrow street. The hotel has no lift also, it’s not for a faint hearted person to stay.
"Beautiful boutique hotel with amazing location for old city"
10/12/14 Amanda C London, United Kingdom
The hotel is very stylish with beautiful, very comfortable rooms. There is also an amazing roof bar and restaurant with an equally good view. The food and drink are both excellent, although quite pricey by Thai standards (but no by European standards!) The location is fantastic for sight-seeing in the old city, with Wat Pho, Wat Arun and the Grand Palace minutes away on foot.
