The staff was great, the location is great for a business person coming from the airport. The train is right across the street, and the main train station and buses and metro are right nextdoor too. BUT it is a cab (or metro or bus) ride from the historic area so be advised. Also, there is no gym/exercise room. And when it's cold in Lyon or snowing, your only choice is to eat :). It's in a very commercial area so there don't seem to be fine real French restaurants around. So the bottom line is, good for a business person with appointments close by. Not quite so good for tourists.

Our family found the hotel excellent for the price. The bed and sofa bed were comfortable and good size. The bed room and the livving space are clean and large, but the kitchen is tiny, only allow 1 person working at a time. We didn't use the cafeteria but all front desk staff speak good English and helpful. The underground garage is tight for a mini van but managible and very secured - the elevator is code controled and you're given a key for the door. Immediate surrounding is quiet but there are family restaurants, supermarket and metro station right outside the hotel.

Hotel Dauphin is in a perfect location, in the center of Lyon's tourist/shopping areas. We two could easily walk to all the places we wanted to visit,... and didn't need a car for the week that we stayed. Our "deluxe" room was clean and modern, but quite small. There was about a meter of space around the comfortable bed on all sides, plus a small space at the entrance. There was one modest-size closet, and overall we had only limited space for our luggage and clothing. Some luggage and belongings had to be squeezed under the bed. There were few electric outlets, inconveniently located. WiFi was free and worked quite well. There was no air conditioning, which didn't bother us in October but could be a problem in summer. The large window opened fully, which did let air through well but also let in noise. The street level entry to the building is old and tired, but once you go up one stair (or take the elevator) and go in to the hotel proper everything is quite modern and pleasant. Prix de la chambre un peu cher par rapport au confort et à l'espace très exigu de la chambre et de la salle de bain. Très peu chauffé, pas de radiateur dans la salle de bain. Eclairage peu lumineux. Cependant accueil professionnel et hôtel très bien situé, proche d'une bouche de métro.
