"Eclectic little stay"
Very cute hotel with fantastic location. The lobby is very funky but the rooms are very basic. The staff is great but wasn't able to provide me a 2nd pillow since the bed wasn't so comfortable. If you need to do laundry, plan on 3-4 hours for your clothing to dry.

"一癖あるホテル"
安さとオシャレさに特化したホテルです。 備品などは不気味なものもあります。 私の時はホテルの給湯機が壊れたらしく、全部屋でお湯が1日でなくなりました。とにかく安くホテルに泊まれればいいという人向けです。清潔感はないので女性にはおすすめしません。

"Unique interior"
The unique interior makes the stay memorable! The rooms are well equipped with refrigerator, sink, small stove and a water boiler. Coin laundry and dryer is also available. I think this hotel is cute and charming and a great stay for people on a small budget. A cheap meal or breakfast can be bought at the convenience store up the road. The only negative thing was that there was no one at the reception desk when I arrived to check in at noon, but I just waited and got a nice and clean room.

"Hip budget boutique hotel"
03/09/16 Travis J Berlin, Germany
This place gets an A+ for character alone. The ground floor is a boutique selling vintage jewelry, furniture, and design. The rooms feature antique and modern Japanese furniture. Rooms are small and sparse, but the great atmosphere, friendly staff, and great location within walking distance of everything cool in Shinjuku all make up for it.

"Good stay but hard to find"
03/05/16 WONGSUWAN22 Bangkok, Thailand
I stayed here 22 October 2015. Check in between 9 AM - 7 PM if you go after must email to the hotel and the staff will give you password to entry the building and your room by email. Way to go to hotel hard to find you must study a lot if not you must take a time to find. This hotel like apartment but chick in my mind. Free wifi. Many things in the building and room include kitchenware. I slept here about 3 hours and go. I think next time I must stay longer.

"Quirky Hotel Close to Everything"
11/15/15 heppy88 Cleethorpes, United Kingdom
A stones throw from the station, shops and restauraunts of Shinjuku. A quirky hotel which seems like an ongoing art project, loosly based upon the antique shop of Orwell's 1984? Rooms are tiny but still ensuite. Small kitchenette you probably won't use. Laundry we found usefull, although the dryers didnt seem to dry effectively and we resorted to hanging clothes all around the already tiny room. Supermarket 2 minute walk away. Staffed by mix of western and Japanese - all VERY friendly and helpful. Would definately stay here again if in the area.

"Hidden gem perfect location"
11/04/15 cherryfrut Adelaide, Australia
Stayed at this little hotel for 3 nights a week ago. Location is perfect, very close to Shinjuku station. Even though they say to use the south east exit, I find that the NEW south exit is the easiest/most convenient/less people traffic, bring you straight to Takashimaya which is not far from the hotel. Took me around 15 minutes to get to the hotel with my heavy suitcase, less than 5 minutes without luggage. 7-11 is just around the corner (less than 1 minute away). The hotel has a quirky design. It has no elevator in the building but I was lucky to get a room on first floor so no climbing up the stairs for me! The room is clean, has all the basic amenities (toiletries, robe, towel, slippers), comfortable double bed, kitchenette for simple cooking (have not used it so can't comment). Not huge room but that's the same in most hotels in Japan. There is no daily room service which is fine with me, they provide new towels everyday and change your bin if you leave them outside your room. There is also laundry facilities (I think around 200yen per wash load, forgot was it 100 or 300yen for drying). The staff was really friendly and helpful! I arrived early around 10ish-11am thinking I might have to leave my luggage and come back but was surprised when I was able to check in straight away. He also printed a map for me when I asked him about the location of a ramen place that I wanted to go to. The room I had is very close to the laundry room, at night you can hear the washing machine/ dryer operating, this did not bother me but it might for some people so I've included in this review. As long as you get rooms further away or on higher floor then it should be fine. Overall, I really like it especially for the location, price and friendly staff. It's perfect for solo traveller/backpackers/anyone trying to budget and don't mind "no-frills" hotel.

"A quiet retreat after each busy day in Tokyo"
09/10/15 KevinRiley-Osaka Osaka, Japan
Last year, when I attended the Netpreneur Summit in Shinjuku, I stayed at a larger hotel. This time, I found the Shinjuku Apartment Hotel… and I’m so glad I did. It has become my hotel of choice for future business trips to Tokyo. When I first saw a photo of the hotel online, my thought was, “What year was this hotel built in?” as it looks like one of those California Spanish houses you’d find in LA, built in the 50s or 60s. But a look at pictures of the rooms convinced me it had been remodeled inside. Also, the price was unbelievably reasonable for Shinjuku. Less than half of what I paid last year at a larger hotel. THE HOTEL Well, upon arrival at the hotel, I found a fun, eclectic lobby full of interesting furniture and knick-knacks. At the counter was a hipster-looking fellow, with a straw hat and a long goatee. He’s very friendly and conversant in both Japanese and English. Going up to my room, I found the hallways also decorated with an array of eclectic items. The door itself was fitted with a push-button combination lock (never had to worry about where my key was) with an easy-to-remember combo (also, you get a card with your private combo on it, which I just slipped into my wallet). THE ROOM Opening the door, I found a neat and tiny room. Now, if you need lots of space, you may want to opt for a double, but since I was only sleeping here and doing a little work on my computer in the mornings, this room was perfect. The bed is on a solid foundation (none of those back-ache inducing, sagging box springs) with drawers underneath where I stored my clothes (there is no room for a closet in a single room). Right under a window, which I cracked open at night for fresh air, the bed afforded me with great nights of sleep. A small desk beside the bed was perfect for my needs. Another antique, this desk had a small drawer, a desk lamp, and sufficient surface for my laptop and a number of files spread out. THE BATH OK, the bath is tiny. Returning from busy, late days, I mostly showered. However, I did have time for a relaxing soak one night (and the hotel has a pleasant sufficiency of very hot water at all times) but my 187cm frame was not going to be stretching out in the tiny bath. Still, for a unit bathroom, it was quite nice. THE KITCHEN Since I was staying 6 nights, and I soon tire of eating restaurant food, this tiny alcove kitchen was great for me. I got to start my day of right with a healthy breakfast. The pot, utensils, induction stovetop, and other implements where great for my favorite breakfast concoction of onions, garlic, and tomatoes, stewed with pepper and herbs, and then adding a few fried eggs. In fact, I’d venture that the pot was better than the pan I use at home, and I shall be looking to source one like it for my own home. THE LOCATION Fantastic. Just across the road from Takashimaya and far enough down a quiet alley to be away from the noise. I bought all my food from the food floor of Takashimaya (basement 1) and they have a good selection, plus a fantastic deli. At the head of the alley is a 7/11, where I bought some water every night on my way back to the hotel. Across the street is the entrance to Tokyo Metro. On the other side of Takashimaya is the JR station. Within minutes I could be whisking off to Shibuya, Roppongi, Gotanda, and all the other places I had business (well, and pleasure - there are so many great restaurants everywhere).

"Good location, not so good room"
06/28/15 Catherine1981London London
I think that this hotel gets away with a lot simply because it is in a brilliant location, minutes from Shinjuku station, and in a city like Tokyo you tend not to spend much time in your hotel room. My room was small, as I had expected, but the grey industrial paint & junk shop furniture decor, (which I think we're supposed to be 'arty') just made it cluttered & depressing. The surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom had a layer of dust & could have done with a good wipe down and the curtain was stained. The staff were friendly enough, but this is more apartment than hotel, therefore rooms aren't cleaned every day & reception is unmanned outside the hours of 12-7. You pretty much have to fend for yourself in terms of finding your way around the city, booking attractions etc., which was ok for me but might bother some travellers. An ok budget option all in all.

"Fine hotel, great area. You get what you pay for."
06/26/15 Ebmorge
I'll admit, I was shocked at how small it was when I first arrived. But after a day or two it kind of grew on me. Not giving more than 3 stars because my room smelled badly of smoke and it's supposed to be a non smoking hotel - after a day of keeping the window open it went away fortunately. Pros: - AMAZING location. Honestly this is the best reason to stay here. It's on a quiet street, but very close to Shinjuku station (subway, Narita express) and main areas of Shinjuku. - Cheap. It's a great price considering the location Cons: - You get what you pay for here. The room is very small, the bathroom / shower are tiny, and there's no maid service (which I personally didn't mind, but depends on your preference) - The room is seriously outdated. Just looks and feels dingy. Needs a major renovation. - As mentioned, I was not pleased when my room smelled of smoke. This place is great if you want a cheap, private room in a good location. But definitely don't expect a glamorous hotel.

"Convenient, no luxury"
05/07/15 Helcanen Brussels, Belgium
Don't expect luxury, but this place is quite convenient to stay and not too expensive. 5 minutes walk from Shinjuku station, you can find an exit beside the Takashimaya tower, or go directly to the South-East gate, just few more minutes walk. For the long stays, I always booked this place, they offer bit lower price than short staying, you have a little kitchen in the room, some cooking stuffs, a fridge. Coin laundry machine available. There is no room service/cleaning, it's your job, but you can get clean towels everyday and bed clothes on request, there are some bathroom accessories, etc. No reception service like in hotels, although that during the day you can often find the staff for questions, help etc. The building is old, but match to the concept, as the owner is using some part of the hotel as "antique shop". Sometimes bit noisy, avoid the street level.
