"Loved my stay here"
My stay in Florence was so wonderful. When I arrived Marco sat me down and gave me all the information I needed for my stay. My room was awesome - and huge - and was the perfect place for my to kick back and relax. The location was awesome, too. Please select this location for your visit!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Accademia House is a fantastic B&B very near the heart of florence. The room (antique double) was very spacious and comfortable with high vaulted ceilings, and Marco the host was very helpful with maps directions etc and any other queries we had. We would definitely go back to Accademia House if we return to Florence.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Accademia House - B&B"
O estacionamento fica a aprox. 1,5 km e custa 20 euros/dia. Por estar na região central não pude trazer o carro até o local. Alternativas chamar um táxi ou caminhar com as malas até o estacionamento. "Ideal base to see Florence"

This is billed as a B&B but its not a B&B like you'd get in the UK. It is basically the first floor of building converted into several guestrooms. My room was spacious, clean, modern decor and furniture and had a spectacular vaulted ceiling and the bathroom was spacious. Breakfast is great - you get given vouchers for a cafe across the road so you get to eat with the locals and get a better choice than you'd get at a small hotel. Accademia House is well located - the Ponte Vecchio is a 15 minute walk and theres plenty to see nearer than that. This appears to be a one man operation run by Marco - very friendly guy who's welcome included marking out a map for us with places he recommended going to see, eat etc. Worth bearing in mind that there is no signs on the building to identify the place - you will need the street and number if you want your taxi driver to find it. Would happily stay there again.
"Nice place, very nice host"
Marco was very helpful, friendly and laid back. He gave us recommendations for a few restaurants - we went to two and had two fantastic, well priced meals (la Burrasca and Santo Bevitore) - and a few ideas for things to see outside the obvious ones. The room was well sized, in a lovely old building, with a really nice bathroom. Would return and would recommend to friends/family.
"Second Stay as good as the first"

I returned to Accademia House for my second honeymoon with my husband and we both loved it. I had stayed there with my daughter in 2011 and had such a great experience, I booked a week with Marco to celebrate our 20th anniversary. It was my husbands first trip to Florence and he appreciated how helpful and personable Marco was. We stayed in the Antiq room, it was quite large and had a fantastic vaulted ceiling. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and extremely clean. After a long day of walking it was nice to wash the day off before dinner, the shower had excellent pressure and hot water. Every recommendation we were given for restaurants and things to do was spot on. It is an easy walk to the train station and attractions. Breakfast is across the street in a little cafe. Because we were staying a week Marco recommended getting the Florence card, which was well worth the money and the time saved by skipping the lines. My husband and I agree that we would stay here again. We also took a side trips to Pisa, Lucca and Sienna. It served as a great home base. We plan on returning and would stay here again.

Accademia House may be terrific for guests who have stayed there, but be aware that it seems impossible to cancel a booking. (They require bookings to be guaranteed by credit card, and you must cancel no later than 15 days prior to arrival.) I have sent 2 emails receiving no response and phoned numerous times to no answer, except once, wherein I was told the individual who could cancel the booking was not there and to call back in 10 minutes. I did so -- repeatedly for more than an hour -- and the phone was not answered. This is occuring more than 3 weeks prior to my scheduled arrival date. Finally I contacted the Fraud dept. of my credit card to protect myself from an illegitimate charge ("oh, we never received a cancellation!").

We just left Florence. The B&B was okay but we were disappointed that we were downgraded from what we had booked. Marco has a problem with his book-keeping. He was always shuffling guests around and he even had to move a couple to another hotel !! The location was okay but the website gives you a completely different impression of reality.
"AMAZING TIME IN ACCADEMIA :) AWESOME HOST"

We arrived in Florence during the night. We were kind of worried staying in a guesthouse because we were two young ladies, BUT it happened to be the best decision and best place we picked out. Marco was awesome he carried our heavy luggages up many stairs. He then showed our room, and the keys for each door including the main door, front door, and our room. He then formally did a check-in, he provided us with a map and went through the whole map like which restaurants, cafe, shopping stores, tourists sites, and where not to go because we were two young ladies in our 20s. He also told us that the city would be very quiet because we came during vacation season.. he also told us that THE NEXT DAY the very first Florentina game season opener was going to happen and we should go watch it. We are Canadians, soo we totally wanted to check that out. He was very helpful and very informative. We got tickets to the sold out game, and it was the best soccer game we went too. He knew his city very well and an awesome sense of humor. Amazing host. The room was amazing, the bedroom was big enough for the two of us including our luggages lol... and the bathroom was really huge and clean, there was AC as well which was awesome because it was super hot in August. Also, free wifi. Everything was walking distance, and there was a bus station not to far from the house as well. The marketplace was really close by we bought a lot of stuff in Florence. We felt really safe on our trip to Florence very appreciate that Marco was very informative and explained everything right during check in and throughout our stay. We would totally go again to Florence and stay there and recommend it to any of our friends and family to stay at Accademia House because we had an awesome time. One of our favourite cities that we visited in Europe. Marco is the best best host we encountered in Europe.
"Nice accommodation and fantastic host!"
We arrived in Florence on the train from Rome, in the middle of a warm day. From SMN station, it was roughly a 15 min walk to Accademia House. This proved to be a slight challenge, as we wheeled our suitcases through the narrow footpaths of Florence under the midday sun! Marco was kind enough to help us carry our suitcases up the stairs and gave us a few minutes to get settled in our rooms and freshen up before the formal check in. He then proceeded to provide us with a map of the city and a very comprehensive list of recommended places to visit, things to do and good local restaurants. We were in the classic room, which was neat, clean and comfortable, as was the en suite bathroom. We had a key to our room as well as to the front door, so we were free to come and go as we pleased. The house is centrally located, with most of Florence's main tourist attractions within easy walking distance. The neighbourhood was quiet and we felt safe walking around, even at night. Breakfast from the cafe across the road was nice, if slightly on the 'light' side, but we found that a pastry and coffee was the typical Italian breakfast and the same thing was offered at all of our other Italian accommodations. In any case, we were more than happy to leave room for the substantial and delicious lunch offerings that are available around town!! We loved Florence and we loved Accademia House, and would be happy to recommend it. Marco does a wonderful job!!
"A good spot..."
We felt very welcome on arrival at Accademia House - Marco was a terrific host with a great sense of humour and a willingness to help in any way possible. We were very grateful that he made some phone calls on our behalf to confirm some tours that we'd booked. Our room was very spacious with view to the street below... The bed was comfortable and the room was neat and tidy. Accademia House proved to be a welcome change from the sterility of international hotels that we're used to. We would definitely return.
"Lovely room with a grrreat host!"

Marco was quick to reply to all of my email queries. Unlike some previous posts before about not being able to check in, Marco was flexible to my requests despite having changed our arrival time several times. We stayed at the Antiq room, which was able to accomodate the 3 of us. The shower was spacious, rooms were good. Although we were disturbed the first night by the street noise. Marco's very enterprising - didn't have in-house facilities for breakfast, but gave us coupons for a generous breakfast at the cafe opposite the b&b instead. Marco was very entertaining, informative and helpful - he gave us a map of florence and answered all our questions on where to go, what to do, etc. Many good recommendations from him on trattorias too, especially Trattoria La Burrasca. Free wifi available. Would definitely come back again.
