"I would stay here again"
Everything about this boutique hotel was perfect. The front desk was always there to help us and the rest of the staff were so friendly. The room was great...I loved the decor. The toiletries and the very useful Moleskin notebook were also greatly appreciated. When I go back to Berlin, I'll stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"We love The Dude!"
A very pleasant stay at The Dude hotel. We were greeted with two glasses of champagne followed with small bottles of complimentary wine in our room. The room was large and nicely decorated, with a great view of the street. Everyone at the hotel was extremely friendly and approachable. We would definitely stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Best customer service I've seen and excellent food. Had a room with a twin bed, which I'm not used to, but the decor and functionality were spot on.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"We loved this place!"
What excellent service, rooms and location. It didn't seem like we were in a very "touristy" area, but the hotel is within walking distance to the train/lots of subways. The hotel has so much character and is very comfy. The amenities are very nice too! I don't normally use hotel shampoo/conditioner/lotion/body wash, but I used it here! The one small […] complaint I have is that there's no air conditioning unit in the room, and since our room was sun-facing most of the day it gets pretty hot in there. I think we were also in Berlin on one of the hottest days they've had though...so I'm not sure how much merit that has. Thanks for making our stay so relaxing and enjoyable. "Very good hotel"
Everything was perfect, the people very nice, nice room. My only critic is the size of the bathroom, a little small, especially con respect with the size of the room. Apart from that, everything was excellent.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Superb Service and Nice Touches"
My wife and I spent a couple days at The Dude and we couldn't have been happier with the accommodations. It's only a two-minute walk from a couple subway stops in a quiet centrally-located neighborhood. The moment we walked through the door we experienced the exceptional service that persisted throughout our stay. The room itself overflowed with charm, […] this is what "boutique" should be. We loved this hotel and would stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Rudest service ever"
I wrote a very nice and professional email expressing my feedback about the hotel. 1) As a business traveler, the desks are too small, 2) The beds are too hard. 3) The shower water is inconsistent. 4) The receptionist picked up the phone and told my boyfriend to call back in 10 min. when he was calling internationally and had to go to a meeting. The […] response I received from the managing director of the hotel was incredibly unprofessional and rude. It made excuses for everything, told me that the receptionist made my b/f wait 2 min. not 10, and ended with "All in all, we fully understand that our hotel's philosophy (which was created by Alexander Schmidt-Vogel, a former advertising boss travelling around the globe) is not what you prefer. And if the Westin Grand suits your needs better - this is fine for everybody. Because what we don't want at all are unsatisfied guests." I have since moved to the Schlosshotel. The price is similar the service and hotel far superior. Stay from this property. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Short break in a fabulous city"
The staff at The Dude were incredibly helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Lots of advice on where to go and how to get there. My only reason to mark down the hotel was that they forgot to clean my room one day but it didn't bother me terribly. The room has everything you need, from a personal Nespresso machine with pods (though no milk if you need […] it) and there was some complimentary wine and liquorice when I arrived. Nice Molton Brown products in the bathroom. I stayed in a junior single room which is a bit small but again no big deal. The view from the window was of a derelict empty building but that is Berlin for you! Breakfast is not cheap but the service is fabulous and the food delicious. I particularly enjoyed the muesli with fresh fruit and yoghurt. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Great little hotel with friendly staff and in a quiet neighborhood. I spent a few nights at this hotel and I have to say that it was probably one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. It has clean and fresh rooms, great hospitality and a roomservice menue that really surprised me, you could tell that the kitchen staff really takes pride in their […] work. Complementary bottle of wine and a little moleskin notebook were part of the welcome gifts. Super apriciated. The nearest subway station is only a block away and you'll be at Alexander Platz in a few minutes. You can also walk to Brandenburger Tor and the museums on Museumisel in about 20-30mins depending on your pace. I'll give this hotel 5/5 stars in my book. Will definetly return here the next time I'm in Berlin. One of a kind place. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

A lovely hotel. Beautiful building, great staff and excellent rooms. Arrived here for a weekend in Berlin, greated by lovely staff and a glass of champagne. Easy check in, friendly staff and great service. We stayed in Room 12 - pleasantly surprised, nice furnishing, not a large room but excellent use of space. The view out of our window was not the best - but who can help that? Bathroom was small but well appointed and very smartly done. Bed was very comfortable with superb pillows although my partner was not a fan of the two blankets (small) over one large blanket, but I like that style. Had a drink in the adjourning whiskey bar (The Brooklyn) - very impressive whiskey collection and worth dropping by for a cocktail, not cheap but quality cocktails. The following evening we had dinner at The Brooklyn (American fine dining) - serivce, food was excellent but a little pricey. Breakfast - wow, one of the best. The setting, the lady that served us also cooked our breakfast - a small but impressive selection. I liked the breakfast - I am not a fan of Big English breakfast or a buffet so this was a lovely surprise. There is a simple menu covering eggs, bacon, pancakes, muesli etc and everything is fresh. And the breakfast lady is very friendly and delightful. I would definately recommend and definately stay here again.

A quick night in Berlin for business. Recommended by a friend I was pleasantly surprised. Intimate and clean and with a very comfortable bed. Overslept so I did not have the priviledge of enjoying the well acclaimed breakfast. Thanks to the great staff
"A Gem in Berlin"
10/20/14 Veronica V Atlanta, Georgia
My husband, adult son, his girlfriend, and I where visiting Berlin for the first time. We were charmed by The Dude. The Dude is lovely, and made our visit wonderful. The Brooklyn restaurant has character, music (classical and jazz) and deliciously prepared and attractively plated food served by a charming lady. The rooms were attractive, contemporary and comfortable. Loved the hardwood floors. The staff excel in hospitality. They are very friendly and very helpful. While the location is a little out of the way, it is close to transportation, and the transportation system is Berlin is great. We highly recommend The Dude.

I don't normally find myself saying this but I love The Dude...dearly. It's a beautifully quiet hotel. Rooms are funky but still functional. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed. The Brooklyn restaurant downstairs is full of character (and great good). I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. You too will love The Dude.
"A cool hotel in Berlin"

There is a lot going for this hotel. The personnel is excellent, rooms are very nicely done and building was lovingly renovated. Internet connection is fast and steady. While not too much going on in the immediate vicinity, it’s a short walk to 2 train stations, and within walking distance to Gendarmenmarkt and Moritzplatz with restaurants and bars. We thought that the breakfast prices were a bit high but there were plenty of places to have a great breakfast in Berlin so it was not a big deal. Overall enjoyed our stay.

We chose The Dude for an overnight stay in Berlin and were smitten with the hotel and service. We were greeted with a glass of Rosé upon reception. Room had great decor and the bed was very comfortable. The Molten Brown products were a nice touch as well. Highly recommend!

We stayed here at the beginning of June. Arriving on the train from Wales via London. Lovely reception when we arrived. As described in other reviews. Breakfasts brilliant. Room fabulous and such a comfortable bed. Excellent service. Not a long walk to the Eastside Gallery or the Brandenburg Gate, the last watch tower, the Tiergarten, the museums etc. And a subway just a few blocks away. When we come to Berlin again - there is so much more to do - we will certainly stay at this hotel if there is availably. Four nights/three days not long enough to do all that we wanted to do. (Would probably fly next time). Apart from taking in Berlin and its history (which we had researched - not just in travel books - check out the history of the architect - Schinkler - I also saw something I had wanted to see all my life and did not know it was in Berlin. The Nefertiti bust. I thought it was in Alexandra but no - so a huge added bonus. Anyway stay at the Dude. Also you can put your own drinks in the room fridge. Thank you Stephanie, Tom and all the hotel staff - hope to see you all again soon. xx
"Relaxed in Berlin"
05/24/14 Chris M Accra, Ghana
As I am staying in a lot of Hotels from the large chains for business, I am looking for something different when I travel privately. The Dude in Berlin is a small Design Hotel in a Historical Berlin Building. The rooms are very nice and tasteful although a bit small (I believe because of the old building structure). People are extremely friendly. the Brooklyn Beef Club is the highlight of the place - you will get incredible meat (but pricy!). However, do not expect to see many people there as there are no common areas. Due to its nature there is also no pool etc, and the gym is not really one. With the right expectations, you will however leave the Hotel very happy.

Just stayed at the Dude and highly recommend it! Very nice service really sets it apart. How do they train people??? Liked the style & atmosphere, too. Good location. What more can a man want? Recommended for both business and romantic getaways :)
