"There was a beautiful pool area."
It's a few steps to the bus stop going to Manuel AntonioGenuine Expedia guest review
I stayed here for three nights, and as it was low season, I was sometimes the only person there. Staff was friendly and helpful when they could be, but could have been more knowledgeable and available at times. The pool is beautiful and well-kept, and there's a nice breakfast in the morning. The public computer was broken, but they let me check my email […] on the laptop behind reception. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Not what we expected"
We were looking for a hotel close to Manuel Antonio Park and Quepos, and this looked nice online. The room was fairly stark, however, and dated. Cleanliness was so-so, and initially it did not appear to have AC, though we found there was a unit in the closet(!). The bathroom was adequate, except there were 3 windows, and 2 of them were open screen. […] The bed was a low platform bed, very firm, and the television a small CRT type, but the reception was so bad it was academic. There is avery nice garden area and the pool was ok, clean, but rapidly losing tiles. The people (especially Christina) were very cordial and helpful, though, and the food was very good. Not a bad experience, really, and we were not expecting luxury conditions, but it felt a little shabby and down at the heels. The surrounding area seemed a little gritty, even a bit frightening, but proved safe when all was said and done. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We had a nightmare experience with our flight into C.R. due to recent bad weather. Instead of arriving at the hotel at 5:00 pm as scheduled, we arrived at 2:00am the following morning. We called ahead to inform the hotel of our delay and they indicated that it was "no problem." because they were a 24 hour hotel. When we arrived, the hotel was dark, […] however there were 2 staff and 1 security guard present. All were very pleasant and escorted us to our room. It was very clean and comfortable. The landscape is beautiful and the breakfast is outstanding. An excellent value for the price Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great Stop Point"
We were on our way to Osa and needed a place to stay. There could not have been a better place. Management accommodated our need in every way. On top to that we met other travelers who were on their way and enjoyed interacting with them.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"If all you want is quiet this is the place to go."
I would recommend this hotel to someone who wants a very quiet place to stay and who didn't care about comfort. The building is getting run down. Our toilet was broken and my husband repaired it during the night as it just kept running. The staff was very pleasant but not all that helpful with questions about places to eat or the area in general. There […] is no secure parking. The manager had us drive our car onto the grounds on a driveway that was too small to go through even with out small car. We ended up having to back down the driveway. It was evident that others had tried to drive through and failed....a large piece of concrete was missing off the wall. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Worth checking out!"
Good location, friendly staff and clean rooms. Some issues with the air conditioner which was not working properly and limited parking space. Overall, not a bad place with a nice swimming pool. You might even get to see the Capuchin monkeys, squirrels or some colourful birds.Genuine Expedia guest review
We stayed two nights at the Villa which was very nice. The room was clean and the staff friendly. We stayed in a room across from the pool, Room 1, which had a nice little terrace where we had coffee in the morning. I did fall asleep in the hammock as well that was out front of our room. The grounds are lovely and it's close to town but not noisy. The […] pool is small, very cold and not that clean! I didn't swim in it. We had breakfast there in the morning, it was included and it was fresh, good food. We did not eat lunch or dinner there. I would recommend this hotel for a short stay or if you are looking to be close to town and not hear the noise. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

This hotel is located on the edge op Quepos, 2 minute walk into town. It is an oasis of rest with a nice pool area and decent size rooms. The rooms are well kept, cool and clean. The garden is lovely. You get an excellent breakfast buffet well worth the price. The host is very accomodating and makes sure you have everything you want. He is also very willing to assist you in organising any tour or activity you want, he will make it happen! Good location since busstop to Manuel Antonio national park is in front of the hotel, bus takes you for 300 colon to the entrance in 20 minutes (difficult parking so I would advise taking the bus that passes every 30 minutes!) Excellent place to escape ugly Quepos and visit the park and do some tours!
"Can't wait to go back!"
Wolfgang and his wife Ursula, the owners of this property, we're outstanding. Every need or request we made was not only met, but, exceeded our expectations. The location of their hotel was perfect. Quepos, is a wonderful place, but, the Villa Romantica and our gracious hosts, is what made our trip one we will never forget.
"Very disappointing, wouldn't recommend to a friend"

We stayed in this hotel for 2 awful days. The staff is so indifferent to their customers, it feels like they think here is your room, pay and get out. No recommendations, no talking, they treat you like you are not welcome there at all. We got a good deal on Booking.com, for $65 a night, and it turned out that this good deal is the worst deal we ever had, in 6 years we have been traveling together. The german guy at the front desk kept repeating that we got the room for cheap, so we wont get the service they usually have. (The difference in price is $15 a night, seriously). No breakfast(which is fine with us), bad attitude, they lost our laundry, couldn't find it for half a day. And when they found it, right in front of me, the german guy started looking at our underwear, smiling and taking one after another. It seemed that the german guy did everything to show that we are not that good for him. Oh, and the room... Its another story. The noise is very loud, people partying the whole night, and wake up at 6am, moving chairs, plates, clinking glasses. The breakfast area is right behind your door, people can hear you singing in the shower. The room reminds you of a dungeon, dark, smelly, and dump. It doesn't look like pictures at all, guys. I think they were taken 10 years ago. Also, every time we passed the reception desk we saw angry people, waiting for assistance, so, Im assuming we are not the only ones who didnt like the staff's behavior. They triple park cars in the gate area and then cant find whose cars were whose. Knocking at every door, asking. I am 100% sure that if this hotel was in the US, it wouldnt stay in business for longer then 2 months. I dont recommend anyone to come here.
"Nice pool, location"
02/26/14 Tomas M San Ramon, Costa Rica
Nice pool, great location if you want to go to Quepos--you can walk into town. If you want to go to the beach it is a 50 cent bus ride, about 20 minutes, lots of stops, or $5 and 5 minute cab ride. Good BK, included when I stayed there maybe 5 years ago. My room was way outdated, like 20 years outdated, and I visited a friend there in May 2013 and her room was similarly outdated. Maybe they have remodeled since? Hopefully. If the beach is going to be your thing, stay in Manuel Antonio. If Quepos is your thing (can't imagine why other then you are there to fish--the marina is 5 minutes away by cab) then this is an option, but view the rooms first. No need to make a reservation, they are never full or very crowded--from May to Dec near empty. The side street it is on is a shortcut into town so I pass by there alot. I saw the review on smoking. This place is Euro owned and guests are mostly Euro's. Euro's love their smokes. Negotiate the price, pay in cash, should get it for no more then $60 including the whopping 18% CR screw the gringo tax. I stayed second floor on the far end so it was quiet. That helps the rating some. Quiet is a premium in Quepos.
"Beautiful, but for smokers"

Nice place with a lot of matures trees. Very good breakfest. We did appreciate the nice pool. Good refreschment. Be advise that the rule of non smoking around the installation and pool is not respected and there are mamy smokers.
"Not a dump but close"

Way too expensive for moldy smelling rooms. Great location, nice pool, decent breakfast, had a problem with the quoted rate and what they wanted once i got there. No parking poor security. Outdated rooms. forget this one for what they are asking. Euro owned and they get alot of Germans who I think must get sucked in on some package rate, and I hope cheap.
"Little pricey for value received!"

I had expect a little more for the price, we were the only guest for the night we stayed. They have a nice pool area and the most friendly cat in Costa Rica and the staff were very helpful. The hotel had a good location easy walk to "El Centro". It was on the bus route to Manuel Antonio National Park. We had a car but the best thing we did was to take the bus to the park. The bus stop was 50 feet from the hotel. After this experience I won't be driving to park or attractions, if I can take the bus. No parking hassle and no worry about someone breaking into your car. Manuel Antonio was worth the trip!
"For this money, not worth it. Choose smth else."
We stayed for one night during our 3+ week stay in many hotels. This was one of them, where it is really not worth the money. No secure parking (maybe for 4-5 cars max), no towels in room, no bulb in the lamp next to the bed. AC is in the cupboard with buttons destroyed. It looks nothing like in the picture and I do not understand, what the people are raving in positive reviews. The owner was nice, but this is no romance, no luxury and no value for this money. Choose smth else.
"Not the best place to stay and overpriced"
11/20/12 Nick B London
To be honest there isn't any good reason to stay in Quepos, no beach, few good eating places, a bit of a one horse town and this hotel doesn't have too much to offer either for distinctly too high a price. You're far better offer finding a place with nice views, close to beaches and watering holes nearer to Manuel Antonio where you'll probably pay a fair bit less. The place was staffed by teenage (?) German girls who seemed unfriendly and monosyllabic - obvious a cheap option for the owners to employ students wanting to learn Spanish. The rooms are ok but not much better than basic. They have some nicely done vegetation and pool out the back and it backs onto some jungle (although if you've stayed in any of the real jungle hideouts nearby then it doesn't rate too highly). We were the only people staying and we moved on after we'd stayed the two nights we'd booked by phone.
"Great service, great rooms, great staff!"

I travelled to Quepos with 2 of my girlfriends and had originally booked a different place to spend our first night. However, once we arrived the place we had originally booked was in an awful condition so we were forced to look for something else and 3 min down the road we stumbled upon Villa Romantica, which we had also come across when doing our initial internet research. The hotel really is an oasis and even though it may seem like the ideal place for couples, I can assure you the place welcomes everyone, even large groups of people. We originally planned to stay there for 2 nights (room 16) but we were so pleased with everything that we ended up staying for 5 nights. After the first 2 nights, we decided we wanted to be closer to the beach and we left for a different hotel which was much more expensive than Villa Romantica. However, on our first night there we quickly learned that our ocean-view suite was filled with cockroaches and we were forced to leave immediately. The friendly staff at Villa Romantica did not hesitate to take us back in the next day, and even though they were at capacity for that night, they were able to empty one of the smaller rooms and house us for that night. Suffice to say after our horrible experience, we did not want to go anywhere else. The next day, they placed us in the room (#17) next to our original one. Below you will find a summary of what myself and my girlfriends thought of our whole experience while at Villa Romantica: - extremely clean and decent-sized rooms (our room had two double beds) equipped with TV, air conditioning and private bathroom - the staff is very friendly and accommodating, very knowledgeable and helpful (we booked most of our day trips with the help of the girls at reception and they even stored our backpacks on our last day before leaving) - the owner takes great care of the place and is very set on ensuring each guest has a pleasant stay - breakfast is included in the price and is self-serve buffet style (consists of eggs, variety of cold cuts and cheeses, vegetables, toast, jams, milk, juice and coffee) - absolutely delicious! - decent-sized pool, very clean - amenities include a pool table, vending machines that provide you with juices and alcohol (these must be paid for extra, but in the middle of the night when everything is closed they are quite handy) Other things to note: - although not very cheap, it is worth the price (you get what you paid for) - there is one computer with Internet access, but it is quite slow and you must pay for usage - the hotel is not close to the beach (it is located in Quepos). However, buses that can take you straight to the beach run frequently and stop right in front of the hotel Highly recommend this place to those looking for a quality stay and great service! I will definitely stay there again, if I go back to Quepos.
