"Far from everything, iffy neighborhood"
This hotel is a poor choice for tourists. Most important, there is no support staff. Check.in is remote, by phone, as is any staff assistance. We were locked out twice when codes spmehow got reset, and could not connect to staff using the only phone available, which is in the lobby, finally resorting to email from a cafe. Either phone was not answered, […] or we got a recording in Portuguese. No maps or tourist info available. Location is on the outskirts of anything interesting, and neighborhood is still in transition. Microwave did not work. Trash was to be sorted, but no info on what the varus bins should contain. Don't stay here! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Great place to recover from jet lag. Clean easy self serve hotel in a fantastic location. I like that the e-mailed door codes let you check in at any time and leave without any check out line. The view of the river was nice and the rooms facing the river on the top floor are super quiet. Everthing was new and well maintained. The surrounding area had […] a good vibe with many cafes and bars. A great place to start a trip to Portugal. Parking was available but during the Santa Clara flea market it can be tuff. Try to arrive in the daytime because finding it may be tricking for the uninitiated. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A nice place to stay"
We stayed in the three rooms on floor 3 which looked over the river and tile roofs. These rooms where quiet at night and allowed us to get over our jet lag. The door codes where sent to us ahead of time so we could let ourselves in. The location was fantastic and walking was fun with many good places to eat and drink. The hotel was clean and well maintained. […] Parking was tight but could be found. I would recommend this place for those people who don't care about front desks or bell boys and like fast and easy. "Modern apartment close to Alfama"
We stayed in great comfort in the quiet modern attractive apartment, which showed a modern side of the old city of Lisbon. Although no person was present on site, a phone query was answered quickly and effectively and tHe apartment was serviced daily. There was a useful large wall map which provided a lot of information about nearby restaurants, museums, […] churches etc. wifi was available. All the arrangements for checking in via access code emailed to me worked perfectly, a very efficient system. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Close to downtown"
Good location for train station and Metro. Codes (pin number) are provided for entry to building and apartment (no keys), system could use some work as we had issues with code provided to us. There is virtual reception (phone) so you can call for assistance. Daily housekeeping is provided. Nice apartments but a little overpriced.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice little Apartment located close to the River"
The Apartment is very nice, and in a great location. 15 mins from the Airport in a Taxi that costs around €12, right by the River, very close to some nice bars/restaurants/landmarks and a short cab or tram ride away from the Central square. The apartment doesn't have a reception, you will be sent a key code to your email a couple days before you arrive. […] We arrived a few hours earlier than our 2pm check in time, when the code activates. This wasn't a problem however as we contacted the very helpful owners via the telecom on the front door, who checked that our room was ready and buzzed us in. The rooms are great, very comfortable and with everything you will need. I would definitely stay here again, should I return to Lisbon (highly likely) Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Suitable for self-cook, nice location"
I stayed at room 3A for 5 nights. It's specious and full equipped kitchenware and furniture. Modern design and clean, beautiful sea view. But there's some downsides like not too many channels on TV, some noise of dog barking and wood workshop during the daytime.

Wonderful hotel. Amazing room especially for a family of 4. The area in the historic city. Culture all the way. No hotel staff no one to bother you. You are given a code to get in and to enter your room. The room is clean and bright. AC nice and cold. Full kitchen made it better when traveling with kids. I highly recommend this hotel.
"Great apartment overall (though bleach-smelling towels and poorly-constructed bath)"
06/01/14 Rinny96 London, United Kingdom
We (1 mother, 2 teenage daughters) stayed in this apartment (2c) for 8 days and were certainly not disappointed with our experience. We arrived around 9am on Saturday (our day of arrival) which was earlier than we were allowed to enter our apartment (2pm) however, as told in an email correspondance, we were able to leave our luggage and belongings in an easily allocated luggage room, which is just opposite the front door, where you can lock your belongings away for free. Entering the apartment may perhaps be a nuisance for some people as in the beginning, you have to keep getting your paper or of the sort with the pretty long code to type out however within a few days we had memorised it and it's a good measure where you can't lose keys and it's pretty difficult for any burglars to come in (although the area looks pretty safe). What's absolutely fantastic though is their large google map of the local area, spanning pretty much the whole of Lisbon, across the large wall opposing the front door - a genius idea which tells any member of residence what's local that they can visit, local restaurants, supermarkets etc. FAB. Discussing the apartment's location, it was perfect for us. You are very close to both the metro and train station santa apolonia and next to it, there are a lot of bus and tram routes for you to be able to travel to pretty much anywhere you fancy in the city. It was very easy for us to travel to Belem by bus, or go outside of the city by catching the metro or train. Furthermore, the apartment is located in a part of the city where the prices are very good. There are quite a few great places to eat (check my profile for the best reviews) for fab prices and there are a number of markets to buy all the local produce you want from bread and cheese and fruits to basics like cleaning products (should you need them). To get to your apartment, you can either take the elevator or staircase. The elevator is not massive and fits 4 people inside, though with luggage, naturally fewer. However, something to note is the information they provide on the inside of the elevator on the wall opposing the buttons which tells you about local supermarkets you can go to with a map which shows you their location - very useful! These sort of measures make me think they've tailored these apartments for their location which is nice, it's not just some grand franchise. The elevator also runs quite quickly. The stairs on the other hand are good as the automatic lighting means you can always see where you are about to go and going (although going upstairs, if you walk fast, this can come a bit too late) but just as a note, the steps are quite big so mind your step. Arriving in the apartment, the place is pretty immaculate and it remained that way for the whole duration of our visit with a thorough cleaning from the cleaners (whom we saw work one day) spanning the entire apartment in an efficient manner including wiping of floors, sofa, kitchen and changing of bins daily. It is hard to fault their extensive job which is usually not done to such a good degree in other apartments and hotels for the same price. However, to discuss the bathroom, one must note the bleach-smelling towels. There is no doubt that all of the things they provided for us were clean and sanitary with the smell that should you use your towel and give a light sniff, cannot miss. This was slightly dampening on our overall 'wow' impression of the apartment. Furthermore, the only other thing amiss in the bathroom is the actual bath/shower. Although the place looks very trendy and modern, this bath just fails to be practical in a very basic sense. There is no shower curtain, and instead, some plastic/glass sheet which covers half of the bath's length. When showering, you stand behind this so that water does not spray everywhere in the room however this is pretty difficult if you even move remotely and made it difficult for us to not end up cleaning the floor ourselves if we didn't want a wet floor. On a positive note however, there is a very nice large mirror in the bathroom from the ceiling to the basin which, always clean, looks great. Furthermore, the apartment provides soap, shampoo and conditioner meaning these are savings you can make and makes life easier. That is an important point to highlight as it is one of the measures Hello Lisbon implements to lower the amount of waste involved and be a greener company. The dispenser means we use less and they also have a system where if you leave your towel on the banner, it means you will reuse it, but if you leave it on the floor for the cleaners, they will change it. The kitchen is pretty good as, although there is not much counter space, they provide items that work and a good amount of cutlery and pots and pans. There was a microwave, oven, fridge with freezer compartment, hobs to cook over, dishwasher and series of cupboards with goods in our apartments. These goods included: large eating plates, smaller plates, wide bowls (slightly inconvenient shape for the cereal-eater), wine glasses, mugs, drinking glasses and oven dishes (there is also a tray in the oven which you can use). We ended up cooking most nights dinner at our place using the oven which is very easy to use once you get a hang of it. The microwave is also very easy to use and nice once you learn how to use it. One bugger though is that between the oven, microwave and hobs, they bleep at what seems like random intervals sometimes. Once they finish, they continue to ring until you stop them and the hobs are very sensitive to any items being placed on top of them, which is especially difficult when there is not much counter space. If the hobs were not so digital and done by touch, they might have been less of a nuisance for us. The dining area in our apartment constituted of a good sized table for four with four chairs with a lamp beside it which you can use if you want to better light the area (not particularly necessary for us since at 8pm in Lisbon circa May, there was a lot of daylight flooding in through our window). No problems here - does the job well. The lounge is made up of the sofa bed, a low-lying table and wide-screen TV with a small low-lying storage unit. The TV works well for the key channels such as channel 1 etc in Portugal and some channels like the Italian radio station however for others such as eurosport, the signal was pretty on and off, and we were lucky if we could watch it for 30 minutes without disruption in the evening. The sofa is also nice however, if one is supposed to be able to lie back and relax on it, it is pretty difficult as the modern design means the back of the sofa is so far that it is awkward to fully sit back without your legs having to be fully straight in front of you. However, on the note of the sofa bed, it was very comfortable to sleep upon during the night. I would imagine this apartment can be made for four, with two double beds (the actual double bed and the sofa bed) which is not bad considering the sofa bed is super comfortable. The only downside is that, apart from one day, the sheets the cleaners provided were not particularly suitable for the sofa bed as if you want the lining sheet to stay on the sofa, there's no place for it to be slotted under to stay in place so it moves with you if you move at all during the night. On the plus side however, the duvet covers etc were all very comfortable and cosy, as were the pillows. The double bed was also very good, no complaints. The only downside is that separating all the rooms in the apartment are sliding doors and between the double bed and lounge etc, there are sliding doors with bars in between meaning that any sound at all can travel through to the main bedroom making these doors pretty redundant in value. This means that pretty much, to satisfy the person wanting to sleep in the double bed, noise should not be made in the rest of the apartment as the sound just travels very easily. I would also suggest shutting the sliding door between the kitchen and lounge if one is sleeping on the sofa bed as in the morning, light floods though the windows on that side. The storage in the apartment is also not particularly exceptional considering it is supposed to be for 3 people in our case, if not four, and basically consisted of one small closet with two sliding drawers view and 6 hangers. We all pretty much had to keep the majority of our belongings in our luggage. However, the air conditioning is formidable in the apartment and is not so noisy that it keeps you up at night. Definite highlight of the apartment. A final note would have to be the view from our apartment which is really lovely! From our height, you can see the rooftops and beyond them, the river and coastline facing Lisbon. From about 9pm onwards, the night skyline is very pretty. Overall, although there are perhaps quite a few criticisms in this review, it is only because they are things to bear in mind depending on the type of traveller you are. However, if you are looking for a practical location where it won't be too expensive to actually support yourself (cost of food and dining etc), this place is brilliant and the extensive cleaning makes it always very nice to re-enter your apartment in the afternoon (they clean approximately between 12pm and 2pm). Yes the bleach-smelling towels and poorly-constructed bath are annoying, but are bearable when you consider the great sleep and air conditioning in the apartment.
"Ear plugs 0.20 euro cents a must available locally"
Very well presented apartments and good location makes you roam more and great spot to get metro next to nought for subway and very efficient - get the subway from airport and back about €1.50 each way bargain. As others have commented walls are very thin and due to nice flooring noise can get a little distracting on a night but not spoilt purchased x2 ear plugs from hardware store up in old part and bingo ginkgo lovely nights kip. Great city, great people go it's immense
"Really a nice place"

I really liked this place - centrally located in the old part of the town (Alfama), modern design in a completely renovated old house, spacious, well equiped and good value for money. Old tram and castle nearby, and also some bars, and a few minutes to the city center. We spent only 2 days there, but we would liked to have spent more.
"A little dissapointed"
I booked the apartment for its location, and also the fact that it looked very smart, Which it is. Although there are a few bits which are not up to par for accomodation thats €120 a night. The walls are paper thin. We had a family next to us and we could hear every little thing, and woke me up every morning, i'm sure i heard the woman fart...and i know women dont fart! I personally like a hot shower, with the lever at max hot it was warm. The bedroom main light didnt work and there were bare wires hanging from it. Not really an issue due to the height, but unsightly. The tv reception is intermittent, which didnt bother me as we were mostly out. I will say it was clean, and the cleaners do a good job, but overall I wouldnt stay here again personally. Santa apolonia rail/metro station is less than a 5 min walk. Which is great for getting about. But as with any city rail station, theres a few undesireables kicking about. A few little tips of the trip. Tram 28 - dont pick it up in martim moniz square, the queue's are massive, follow where the tram away from the square, and get on at the next stop. If you are anything other than portugese looking, you will be offered cocaine and hash. Dont make eye contact and say no. Apparantly they aren't even drugs, so the police cant touch them! Just rip off merchents! Saw this mostly in the baixa/chiado area. Travel by metro where you can, its cheap and simple to navigate. There are beggers on there, we saw the same blind one everyday, but he seemed to manouvere on and off the carriage a bit too easily for my liking. And he was very well dressed for a begger. Proffessional begger some may say! The aquarium was pretty good to visit, theres some eateries close by, we went to the all you can eat sushi/sashimi place arigatou. €15 a head, was ok. In lisbon itself every street seems to have a bar or shop or cafe/restaurant. So many, my best advice is to make your own way and try stuff out. Be sure to try a tipple of ginjah (sour cherry liquor)
"Great value spacious apartment in an excellent location"
03/12/14 frootbat england
Easy to find, a short walk from Santa Apollonia station, we had an apartment on the second floor which had a good view of the river and 2 juliette balconies from which to enjoy it. Very well kitted out apartment, with everything you would need to self cater (we only used the fridge!), spacious and bright, comfy bed and a good bathroom. Loads more space than a standard hotel room. Very quiet at night. Originally given the wrong access code, but just picked up the entry phone and this was easily sorted. We were able to access the lobby prior to our check in time and securely store our luggage, and did the same the day we left (but did request to do so in advance). We enjoyed being in the heart of the Alfama, there are plenty of cosy and bars and restaurants within a short walk, you’re near the Castle, the Pantheon and Cathedral, and it’s a 10-15 minute walk to the Baixa or hop on the metro at Santa Apollonia. Lots of people trying to entice you into their Alfama restaurants for Fado, particularly on Friday night, we would recommend instead the Belaruque Bar, where we were surprised and delighted with a session by the excellent Maja Milinkovic.
"Close to Santa Apolonia Metro/Train Station, Modern Apartment"
01/03/14 Swivel_Travel New Delhi, India
Good location as it is walking distance from Metro/Train Station with a ocean view from the apartment we chose. Since we took buggy for our 2 year old son, last 50 steep steps were bit difficult for us. The apartment in itself is very good with all the amenties along with open kitchen and a smart TV. It has zero human interaction as you are provided with a code on your mail which is needed to enter the hotel and the apartment. There are quite a few eating outlets and couple of nice restaurants by the ocean. It is close to the cruise terminal. Wifi connection was terrible however the internet connection on TV was pretty fine.
"Convenient location new cruise terminal"
11/27/13 erwinek Minneapolis
We chose Hello Lisbon because its location was within walking distance to the terminal at which we were to board a cruise the next day. We had an excellent spacious accommodation with a well equipped kitchen. There is no reception desk, so one needs a code to open the outside door and the door to the apartment unit, but there is supposed to be someone on location to respond to the button if one does not have the code. One also needs the apartment number. The booking agency that we used, however, did not send us the code and apartment number, so we phoned them the evening before our departure and they gave the code and apartment number to us. We had been concerned that perhaps no one would be on location to answer the button if we did not have the necessary infromation. During the day after arrival, I did test the outside button and someone did come down to open the door.

This is a great place to start walking in the old part of the town. It’s also just a few minutes away to the train/metro station. Some nice small restaurants are also at a walking distance. The apartment style is modern and the whole places have a fresh feeling. Kitchen was fully equipped for our needs and all was very clean and nice. We arrived just for a night stop over by car from airport (30 minutes away). Parking is easy in the backyard of the apartment building. From our apartment we cold see the river and some cruses ships. Excellent service with booking, payment etc. We will try to come back for a longer stay in the future.

The apartments are located close to the train/metro station of Santa Apolonia and the river. Lux, the coolest Club in town and some nice restaurants are also at a walking distance. I made the reservation on their website and it worked very well as they send you the key code to your email and mobile phone. Apartments are new and have a cool and fresh look. Kitchen is fully equipped and the cleaning is very good.
