"Close to center of Madrid, decent"
Definitely great location, right next to Reina Sofia and a five minute walk from the Anton Martin metro stop, within walking distance of all the major plazas. The rooms are small and a little like jail cells, but a great value for the price. Each room had its own sink, and the shared bathrooms are in good condition, fairly clean. Small beds, clean sheets, […] and towels provided. Wifi works, and you can go and come as you please.

Relacion calidad precio, cara.

"OK for the price - Good location"
Very simple accommodation - beds in rooms, shared bathroom, no other facilities at all. All very clean, though. Owner is on the premises. You get your own key to come and go as you please. For the location and the price it is quite acceptable for a short stay. Local parking is virtually impossible. Remember to buy water or drinks for the room, as well […] as toiletries. You get towels and bed coverings, but that is all.
"It was clean "

However, there's only two showers. The rooms are really really small. If your looking for something cheap and jut want a place to stay this is the way to go. If you're looking for something more, look somewhere else.
"A wonderful and cozy place in the heart of Madrid"

Hostal Pacios is a really pleasant surprise in downtown Madrid. It is right on Atocha Street, a few steps away from Plaza de Santa Ana, Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol and other major sights in Madrid. It is also conveniently located next to a subway station - Anton Martin Station. The hostel itself is very cozy and clean and the staff is pretty welcoming and friendly. You can also get an individual room for only 20-22 euros with a wi-fi connection! That's really a bargain in downtown Madrid! I definitely recommend you this place!

Great location- next to Plaza Santa Ana, 2 minutes to Plaza Mayor and Sol, next to Atocha train station. Room was clean but small. Bathroom okay, everything else ok, nothing special. But location is worth every penny ;) given the prize, it's very cheap and reasonable price. I'd go there again.
"Great location, clean and cheap"

Given the location (right next to Plaza de Santa Ana, less than 5 mins to Plaza Mayor and Sol) the nightly rate is an absolute bargain. Room was clean and had plenty of space. Bathrooms separate but were all clean too. Will definitely stay here again

The owner doesn't speak any English. Be prepared to have many misunderstandings. He is not nice, so you can't ask him places to go or anything. The rooms are very clean and simple. Just a bed. Bathrooms down the hall, but they are empty most of the time and you never hear anyone using them. They are clean. The price is cheap until he slaps you with a 40euro charge for wifi, he is non negociable about that.
"plenty of other hostals in madrid, go there, it's bound to be nicer"

needed somewhere cheap to stay beforoe finding long term accomadation. room was very small, could hardly move in it. the bed took up 90percent of the floorspace, the other 10% filled by a broken sink and a table. was very dank, sweaty experience. just sleep here if necessary. staff neither pleasant nor rude, just indifferent. could be doing with a good scrub. no kitchen as far as we were aware. good location. maybe i'm a cheapskate but i don't think 35euros a night was good value for this, to me that's quite a lot for what it is. in saying that the communal bathroom was always clean so good marks for that. and free wifi is always a good thing, which it had.

The hotel is situated in the city center of Madrid, quite close to the main train station Atocha and the metro station Anton Martin. The hotel itself is on 2nd and 3rd floor, and has a tiny elevator for max 2 people. The rooms are basic: beds, a sink, a mirror, shelves and a rubbish bin. The rubbish were taken out every day. You are not allowed to smoke in the rooms, but you can do so in hallway of the hostel. Bathrooms are shared, but they are very clean and well taken care of, so it's no problem using it. One of the bathrooms even had a bidet. The main man who seems to be an administrator living himself in the hostel is very stable man and he does not speak any English, but when we were checking in there was another man who spoke English and we had no problem. We also got a room with french balcony as we requested in our email before we arrived. The only one rather disappointing thing was that the first night we had to spend in a dormitory type room with nothing in it except 4 beds (they were empty though) and we were charged the same as for the double room we got later for our next 6 days of the vacation. If you have troubles sleeping, don't choose a room with a balcony facing the street because it's rather noisy 24/7. Walls in the hostel seemed to be pretty thin too, so again, don't go to hostel Pacios if you don't sleep deep.
"With so many better hostals in Madrid, why choose this one?"

This must be the worst of the about 6 hostels I have tried out in the Madrid center area in the past months. All prejudices you might have about cheap accommodation come true here. The clientele was questionable, (and drunk) the room shabby, the whole place extremely run down, even the lighting sucked. One might think that all 25 EUR/night places are like that, but let me point to two other places with identical price structure, similarly good location and totally different feel: Hostal Cervantes and Hostal Principado, both run by people who care. Where the Pacios seems more like a creepy shelter for light-shy Transients without a job, these other two are real little hotels for tourists or business travelers on a low budget. With both the Principado and the Cervantes, the furniture is basic, but not torn, the wallpaint is plain, but not spotted with dirt and you have the feeling that when you turn that key, your stuff might actually still be there when you return. At the end nothing happened to me or my stuff in the Pacios, but by judging from too many signs there, this was a happy accident. My recommendation: as long as the management doens't change, avoid this place at all cost. There are a ton of other hostals in Madrid who offer a world of difference for the same price.
"Good location, nice staff but very basic."

Location is great, 5 minutes from a metro stop and very central. The rooms were very basic; there was no sink in the room, something which was common in other hostels I have stayed at in Spain. Although the building felt very safe and secure, the room itself didn't though we were possibly unfortunate in being there at the same time as a group of rowdy young guys. Kitchen and communal areas were quite poor so we had to spend most time in our room. Good if all you intend to do is sleep there, not if you think you'll spend any extra time at all inside.
